Nano doesn't want to disconnect, it froze, and itunes said it's corrupted

Hi guys,
This is my first post, and I'm a new 2nd gen Nano owner (I just got it a week ago from Best Buy). My ipod doesn't like to disconnect. I got the message "ipod cannot disconnect because it contains files that are in use by another application". I went to the 'safely remove hardware icon', and got the message "problem ejecting USB mass storage device" along with "the device 'generic volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later". I tried disconnecting my other USB device, and restarting the computer. I got it to say "okay to disconnect" once, but now it doesn't let me again. I'd hate to have to go through all this everytime I want to disconnect. Yesterday I also got the message that said iTunes detects that my ipod is corrupt, but now I don't get that message today. Along with that, my ipod and computer both froze. When I disconnected the ipod (even though it said not to), my computer was fine, and then the ipod was locked on in the middle of a song, and wouldn't do anything. I've since got the ipod working again, but it still doesn't like to disconnect. I know this was long, but I wanted to be detailed.
p.s. Is there a way to email or contact apple about issues and support?

I would suggest that you do this:
1 - Connect your iPod to your computer.
2 - While it is connected, reset your iPod. To reset an iPod:
First, toggle your iPod's "Hold" switch back and forth a couple of times.
Then, press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds.
3 - After you've reset your iPod, it will display the Apple logo, and eventually return to its normal screen.
Then, it ought to go back to the "Do Not Disconnect" screen.
4 - After your iPod has completed its sync with iTunes (or, at least, hopefully), restore your iPod.

You won't be able to, just by navigating out the iPod's photos folder in iTunes. You'll likely need the help of some sort of third party software to get the job done for you. One thing you'll want to keep in mind about these photos is that they are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnail versions that were optimized for viewing on your iPod's Video smaller 2.5" LCD display.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. @Razmee209 is right there is nothing you can do if it is an encrypted back up

BUT you could try to see if you have a back up that is not encrypted. If you go to iTunes Preferences (On a Windows go to Edit Menu under the Play Button - On a Mac click on iTunes at the top left) Click on Devices and if you see a back up that does not have a lock next to it you will be able to restore from that back up without using that password.
Encrypted passwords are set up at the time you create the back up.

I can think of lots of reasons why it might not be connecting, but since you don't give us any information at all other than the fact that you have a 3G, we can't even begin to guess...
iOS version? iTunes version? Windows or Mac? Operating System? Direct to USB? USB Hub? I'll give you a quarter for a clue...

Help, itunes doesn't want to work with airtunes and my airport express!

Strangely specific problem with playing itunes using airtunes. Just connected an Airport express to my time capsule. All the software and firmware is up to date, and I'm streaming from itunes to an airport express connected to a stereo. My itunes is on a laptop. My library is on the time capsule. Almost everytime the song changes, the audio drops out and stays out until I pause and replay the song. It's the weirdest thing. There are no random audio drops, just a failure to keep playing when the song switches (and it doesn't happen every time, just some of the time). This is similar but not the same as the problems other folks are having with airport express and itunes audio drop outs. Does anyone have a solution?

Problem solved. Upgrading to most recent itunes relased yesterday seems to have fixed the problem.

Hey I hope someone can help me with this problem. I really don't know what to do.
I was planning on restoring my Ipod, because my laptop indicated there was some kind of problem with Itunes.exe after I plugged it in. So I started up the Ipod Updater and clicked on restore..But it didn't work, there was some kind of error. After that I turned on my Ipod and I saw it referred me to the support website.
After trying to turn on the Ipod on for a couple of times, it didn't work anymore. And now it still doesn't work.
So now it doesn't respond to anything. I've tried plugging it in to my computer several times but it doesn't go on.
I've just purchased my Ipod on March 30 2006.
Shall I go back with it to the Apple Store...
I don't know what to do with it, since it stays turned off :S

Sounds like you need a new phone. I'm not an employee of BestBuy but I just took my broke i4 to them. I was eligible for the new i4s upgrade as opposed to fixing my diffuser and home button which in parts cost 70$ not including shipping. Bestbuy credited me 141$ to trade my i4 for the new i4s which costs 200$ to upgrade. I signed on two more years but my provider has been excellent so no issues. With the 141$ credit I paid 59$ for my new i4s and was grandfathered in so didn't have to upgrade to next Internet data usage plan. Google is always trying to get more information out of me. I don't want to tell them anything. Now they've "arranged" for my passwords to be lost and I can't access my e-mail. Firefox used to know them; I no longer do. This problem started when I did the last Firefox update.

Do you see the saved password for Google in the Password Manager?

Do a hard reset, put it in DFU Mode and do a manual install, as outlined in the link below.

I'm still using as my music hub an ancient but reliable iMac G3 running OS X 10.2.8, and the latest iTunes version supported on it is 6.0.5, and was wondering if the 2nd gen nano is still compatible with that? Has anyone been able to try?

This is Apple's way of saying upgrade
The iPod may work, but I doubt it. Some iPods have worked with previous iTunes versions, but there were syncing problems (sometimes).
iTunes 7 changes a lot of things, so I don't know if the new iPod nano firmware will "understand" how to communicate with iTunes 6 or if it was taught not to.
Just my observations--but not really an answer. I would say no, but we can't be sure until someone tries!

HT4009 I want to purchase an app that I have under a different iTunes account. How is this done, as I tried and iTunes said it was already installed.

I want to purchase a subscription of Brain Pop. I have it free under another iTunes account and want to purchase it under my newer acct. The message comes up as already purchased in app store.

If I were in that situation, I would use a computer. There you could sign in to iTunes, and "gift" the purchase from the account that currently has it free to the newer account. You would do this by finding it in the iTunes App Store, and then clicking the down-facing arrow to the right of the "downloaded" button.

I'm using ipod touch for a year now. I was using this morning and suddenly the ipod doesn't work at all maybe it got wet from my bag but there wasn't wet stuff in there. and itunes said iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. please help me

I'm using iPod touch for a year now. It was doing fine this morning but in the afternoon suddenly when I took it out of my bag, the screen was just black and it wouldn't turn on and stuff. So I thought it didn't have battery so I charged it didn't work. I plugged to the computer and it said iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before in can be used with iTunes.
Maybe my bag was little wet today but i don't think that is why.. since it wasn't that bed.. just some paper was wet and stuff..
What should I do..? Please help me.
