Nano frozen with hold button on

My nano has frozen with the hold button switched on. I can't get it to unlock. Is it cos the battery needs recharged? I've got it hooked up to recharge but the screen's showing me a song it's supposedly playing.
What should I do?

and they told me they have to send it to Appel and

I can't believe it. The Heather advice, noted by many
others worked for me! Felt carefully around the
silver back where it joins the white plastic front
and realized there was a miniscule shift in the
position from one side to the other. Barely
noticeable. Pushed hard on the silver back to put it
back in position and with a loud click, the hold
button moved a fraction of a millimeter and unlocked.
Thank you! Problem must have been caused by banging
the ipod accidently and displacing the back from the
front. Saved me lots of $$. It's really a piece of
junk.

Itunes froze, now NANO frozen with "CONNECTED" stuck on screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Itunes froze, so i couldn't eject the ipod. I then tried to eject it in the Windows task bar, this then froze. So i restarted the computer and took out the ipod and now the nano is truly frozen with "connected" stuck on the screen, the ipod is totally unresponsive.

Mine did the exact same thing! I called apple and went through the whole name and email address thing. push the center and menu button and the same time. When an apple symbol shows up let go of the buttons and then your regular menu should be fine

just had my ipod over 2 days. worked really fine and I was so pleased with it. but now...when i turned it on, it did not play the music. It is in pauze mode,and frozen. My pc does not recognize when i connect it. I tried several usb 2.0 ports but no response. I tried to restore (hold menu+play for 10 sec): no solution. I re-installed the software: no solution.
Anybody with ideas?
Also, when it was working i could not find the option button in the right bottom corner of the screen.
I think i'll just return it and have it replaced?

No. This was done whilst disconnected from the PC. I only connected to the PC to see if that would trigger the controls buttons. It's actually my sons iPod and he is pretty well despondent now. The only thing I can think of is to try and reset factory settings....what do you think?
The problem is that the unit was purchased in Japan and I am living in Bangkok. If it is a faulty unit then I will have to ask my Japanese business friend to return it on his next trip.

Nano Frozen with folder & exclamation point

Got my husband a nano for father's day. Everything went well, installed with CD, connected w/ USB, updated songs and then when OK to disconnect, disconnected nano. As soon as that happened nano went blank. Nothing worked, computer didn't recognize, buttons wouldn't work. Uninstalled, re-installed twice, nothing. Nano isn't recognized by computer when connected with USB or firewire (20GB iPod working fine). Let it rest for over 24 hours, and now finally when connected via firewire have dreaded folder w/ exclamation point. Tried to reset but the apple icon flashes and right back to folder. With update window won't let me restore as computer doesn't think the nano is connected. Also tried restarting computer also no luck. Any suggestions?

I plugged my Nano in through a USB cord to my computer to update the iPod. There was no reaction to the iPod when I started iTunes. I took the iPod off the plug and it froze. Please help.

Try resetting your iPod:
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
*Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

hey, my ipods screen is frozen but it was in lock when it froze (it was connected to my computer when it froze), so i cant hold menu & the middle button to reset it.
how can i restart it? when it was plugged in, after the screen froze it unplugged itself and it's not recognized on my computer. what do i do?

Ipod Nano Frozen - with peculiar issue

I need your help in saving my ipod. My ipod is getting frozen and the reset option (menu and Centre key pressing ) does not work at all. But the peculiar thing is the moment i connect it to a USB cable it comes back to life. But the saddest thing is it will be working only for another 1 hr, then it will go into a frozen state.
Nothing will happen untill i connect it to a USB cable.
I tried the RESET, RESTORE option too, nothing worked
The battery is fully charged, its not the batter charge problem. I got this Ipod only 2 months before. Please help.

The Hold Buttons Stuck

I was able to opperate my ipod nano while the hold button was on. I turned it off to see what the problem was and it was fine, but once i turned it back on i couldnt turn it off. Now i cant do anything with it. What do i do?

Is the hold switch literally jammed into place? If so:
You may want to take a flat screw-driver and carefully pry off the outer shell part of your iPod. Then, carefully inspect the "hold" switch. there may be something jammed in it that's causing the switch to not budge.
If your "hold" switch can move around fine, but there's still a "locked" symbol on your iPod's screen (as if it hasn't responded):
I would sugest trying to restore it, if several Resets don't help.

my hold button is broken and my ipod is now stuck on hold, is there any way i can get onto my ipod?

Well, my nano has your same problem. what i do sounds a little funny but i take a guitar pick, stick it into the top left side of the nano, move the hold button to the RIGHT side, and take out the pick. then when i squeeze the top left corner, it works. yea, it stinks.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

Restarting your device
1) Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
2) Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Follow these steps to reset your device
Note: Reset your device only if it is no longer responding and the steps above do not work.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

We just did the iPhone update ios 6. If it's not being recognized while it's in recovery mode in your itunes, try this
plug the phone into the usb attached to the computer
hold down the home and sleep/wake button on top simultaneously until the phone's screen goes black
When the screen goes black, release your finger from the sleep/week button on top but continue holding the home button until you see a dialog on the itunes screen on your computer that says 'itunes has detected a device in recovery mode'
then say 'ok,' select 'restore,' and say 'restore and update'

With so many people visiting this problem and so many people willing to comment about it Apple needs to fix this problem. I experienced this problem twice until I came to the website and it suggested the folling pressing Menu and the center button at the same time and hold it between 6 to 8 seconds. It works. The problem is that if it happen to me twice in one week it will happen many time. APPLE, FIX YOUR BUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
