Nano III Syn Issues

Hi, I had my new Nano working great and had my music on it no problem.
Then I was offered to upgrade to software version 1.0.2 or something to that extent, I also had to upgrade to Itunes 7.4 before it would recognise my nano to begin with.
Anyway, the problem is that itunes created a playlist called 'Nena's Playlist' because it said my ipod was full, but I didn't want this so I deleted it.
Then it appears that all my songs have been wiped from my nano.
I repeatedly connect the ipod to my laptop and it syncs automatically but says that it can not update as the playlists no longer exist and then seems to disconnect my ipod automatically (on itunes I can see my original playlists do exist and contain songs) so I press ok and go to the 'music' tab on itunes and select the box that updates all playlists and all music, then I press 'apply' but it doesn't work, it freezes for a few moments then says something about a mass storage device error.
I've tried restring my ipod but it won't even do that - it seems to take ages and so in the end I disconnect it using the disconnect device button in my toolbar.
Does it sound like I need to do one of the 5Rs?
Cheers

Hi I literally tried everything.
I'd probably home in on resetting the i-pod (toggle hold on and off then when hold is off press and hold the menu and select buttons at the same time until the apple sign comes on
Select manual syncing when you are prompted too
Restart your computer and connect it - see what happens- let me know

I don't know why my new 7th Generation Ipod fails sync diags on both Win7 and Win8 computers. I am an admin on both machines. The computer sees the device, but ITunes does not, but yet I can eject the ipod.

    Hello Dee Nano.
It sounds like your iPod nano is recognized by your PCs, but it isn’t recognized by iTunes. Try the suggestions in the article linked below, they will resolve most issues like this.

  • IPod Nano freezing + Itunes issue

My Ipod nano 6th gen was working fine since i bought it until today - today when i tried to play the Nano on shuffle it would simply freeze. I could hear the clicks but nothing would happen - it wouldn't play and i couldn't move to another function. i would have to reset the Ipod to get access again. Same thing would happen when i tried to find a song individually - i access a song, click it and then frozen. at the same time as this issue comes up now my itunes cant see my ipod. my computer can see it just fine, just not my itunes.
any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Resetting the Nano was a good first step to solving the problem, but you may need to go a step further.
Open iTunes, and plug in the USB sync cable; leave it in. You'll see an option in the middle of the iTunes display that asks if you might want to restore the Nano. This will erase your playlists, but if you have them backed up with iTunes, that shouldn't be a problem. Let the Nano automatically enter your playlists and files; make sure the transfer is completely finished before detaching the cable.
Everything should be back to normal. Let me know how the intervention went, so I can make sure it went well. And others with a similar problem can refer to the data as well.

  • 1st Gen Ipod Nano  - Shuffle Songs Issue

Everyday I take my 1st gen ipod nano with me for a walk and just select shuffle songs. My walk takes about an hour, but my nano in shuffle mode seems to play alot of the same songs over and over everyday in shuffle mode. I have almost 800 songs on the nano. Is there someway of getting my nano to shuffle up the songs a little better so that I'm not hearing the same songs over and over?

I am having the exact same issue with my iPod, 5th generation. I would like to know if there is a way to change the setup so it will shuffle it better.

  • 3rd Gen nano (RED) screen issue

I've just got my 3rd Gen nano (RED) but it seems that there is an issue with the backlight of the screen. Initially, when I tried to charge it with my MacBook with the USB cable, it didn't charge at all. I have to plug it into the power adapter to get it charging.
Also, I have to press the screen to get the backlight to "work" otherwise I can hardly make out what's on the screen.
What can this be? Also, is it a case of the iPod being fully drained of power? Please help! I'm getting this as a Christmas present for my girlfriend

To address the charging issue, make sure you are connecting the ipod to a high powered USB port (2.0) for it to properly charge on your computer. Often these ports are on the back of the computer, not on the front or the keyboard.
Yes, if your ipod is very low on battery charge the backlight will not come on.
Also, you should not have to touch the screen to turn on the backlight. In fact if it comes on when you touch the screen it is defective. It is only supposed to come on when you touch the clickwheel.
You should probably check to see what you have your backlight settings set to on the ipod. I have mine set to 10 seconds, so it comes on when I touch the click wheel and the light turns itself off after 10 seconds. If this is the behavior you see on your ipod, it is working fine. If you want to extend the time it stays on, you can set it to stay on longer under the settings. be advised the backlighting does use battery power, and your playlife may be affected by having the backlight on a lot.

  • Nano accidental shuffle issue?

I got my first nano ever few weeks ago. It seems it will go from my scrict playlist to shuffle mode for no reason at all. is this a known issue? thanks.

Funny. Mine does the same thing. It will be in the middle of a song, then it makes a funny electronic sound, and switches to a new song, and it's now in Shuffle mode. I only use my iPod in the car, hooked up to a Griffin Road Trip. Not sure if it's getting strong interference from an outside source? I've done the reset, and it still trips out. I'm tempted to send the Nano back to Apple, along with the Road Trip to see if someone back there can duplicate the problem.

  • 6G iPod Nano Volume Spike Issue

I tried checking the thread on this matter but could not find any discussion on it.  I noticed that there is a sudden spike in volume particularly when switching from one song to another.  This can happen when double clicking any iPod compatible earphone (or even Apple's own) controls.  It does not always occur with every track but occurs often enough about 30% of the time.  Is anyone encountering any of this issue.  I did not encounter this problem with my last gen iPod using the very same playlist.  Thanks all in advance.

Are all of the tracks on your Nano encoded in the same format?  Are there any EQ settings enabled?
Ideally, it would be nice to sync these tracks to another 7G Nano to determine if it's an issue with your particular Nano or not.

  • 5d Mark III AF issues... need help!

I bought this camera in march of this year and its never missed a shot. One week ago I noticed it was not focusing properly. I was in an indoor arena practicing low light so I didnt think anything of it. I have been adjusting settings all week now and CANNOT get it to focus properly.  Even resetting it to original settings did nothing for it.  I use a 70-200 f 2.8L almost always, however, last friday I experimented with both a 50mm and external flash.  I have a 2 day horse show to do this weekend, I need this this to work! has anyone experienced this or have any insight? TIA

If it isn't doing what you want it to do, it's extremely beneficial to pinpoint exactly what it is doing.
To this end, you'll need to do some proper focus tests.  Real-world subjects are lousy for this because you cannot take specific measurements.  It's much better to use a test target.
I have a commercially made target (e.g. Datacolor "Sypder LensCal" or a "LensAlign").  But you can also get a test target that you can download and print from the Internet... such as this one:   http://regex.info/blog/photo-tech/focus-chart
The idea behind these is that you'll careful test conditions to isolate any other reason for the camera not focusing accurately.
Mount your camera on a tripod and now you know that the lens isn't moving and the camera isn't moving (so there's no blaming the photographer for not being steady).
Place the test target at the prescribed distance (follow the instructions that come with the chart.  The distance will depend on the focal length of the lens.)
Select the focus point you plan to test (e.g. center point focus).  CAREFULLY algin the camera so the focus point being tested is on the high-contrast test-target position.
Make sure the camera is using "One Shot" AF mode (not AI Servo -- use "One Shot" for stationary targets such as this one.)
I deliberately de-focus the lens in one direction ... for example manually turn the focus ring to minimum focus distance.  There are two reasons for this... (a) I want to make sure the camera MUST adjust focus on each and every test) and (b) I want to know the direction that the camera had to move focus in order to achieve focus (e.g. if it was set to minimum focus distance then the camera must move focus out.   If it was focused to "infinity" then I know the camera must move the focus in.
Take notes so you know where focus started and which direction it has to move focus.
And since 1 sample does not make a trend... you'll need to shoot at least a half-dozen shots for each direction of your test.
The chart is laying back at an angle.  This means if the camera is "front focusing" you'll notice the areas on the chart that are a bit closer have better focus than those at the intended target position.  If it's "back focusing" you'll see the opposite.
If the camera CONSISTNTLY misses focus (say it's always just slightly back-focusing) then you can adjust this using the camera's built-in auto-focus micro-adjustments (see your manual).
If it is NOT CONSISTENT then you have a different problem and the lens may require service.
The focus mechanism is mechanical... glass and other parts are moving to focus.  Gears can develop backlash or "slop".  This means if you move focus in one direction, then reverse to move focus in the other direction... a certain amount of free travel could occur before the lens actually starts moving again.
The bottom line... using good testing conditions to figure out exactly what your lens is doing.  It also means that if you do decide to send the camera and body in to Canon then you can describe the issue more accurately.

  • Mac Was Rebuilt and Nano Has Sync Issues

After my Macbook was rebuild because of system issues, all my songs on my Ipod Nano (8 GB) are of course SAFE.  Once rebuilt, now Itunes is treat my Ipod Nano as if it was never used with this Macbook and it was!
This %$#$^ system now will not sync at ALL and I am stuck.  These were my songs (purchases and CD Imports) and the software is asking to KILL all songs and start fresh or just transfer the purchases from the Itunes Store (about 30 songs).
This insanity.  Whoever designed this sync process needs to be shot.
Is there a way around this?
If not, screw Mac!  I am dumping my Nano for something that makes more sense.
    Thanks!

Take a breather, get a drink, count to 10, throw salt over your left shoulder and start all over again.
Disconnect the iPod Nano from your computer.
Disconnect all other peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 and restart your computer.
Now getting in the IPOD it self via Finder is another story.

  • IPod Nano Ratings Sync Issue

Since I got my iPod Nano 5G, my song ratings seem to be changing arbitrarily in iTunes. This is a hassle because I use the song ratings to make sure music I like is on the iPod. I have tried updating iTunes, the iPod software, and restoring the iPod, but nothing seems to work. Is there anything else I can try? Does anyone else have this problem?

  • Nano cover art issues (covers loaded, but don't always display)

Just picked up an 8GB Nano yesterday, and while the whole idea of having cover art displayed is nice and all, it doesn't seem to be working correctly. I can load the art just fine, and it displays in the Cover Flow view (after a small delay when loading each one), but when just playing the songs and moving back and forth between them with the next/previous buttons (even within the same album), the album art seems to always disappear after one or two songs, only to be replaced by the increasingly-irritating "music note on a gray square".
Is this a known issue with the 3G Nanos (or iPods in general), or am I looking at a defective unit?

I actually thought of that last night after I posted that, so I did a test:
I played the first song in an album that had cover art present. When I hit the "next track" button, the album art promptly disappeared. I then went back to the previous menu and went straight to the song where the cover art disappeared and selected that one. Once again, hitting the "next track" button made the album artwork disappear.
I'm not a huge fan of iTunes, though, so I've been using Winamp to manage the Nano, especially since I can have Winamp automatically get cover art for songs without having to give it a credit card number.

  • LUMIA 830 nano -SIM ejection issue

Lumia 830 has a nano-SIM slot.I have inserted my Nano-SIM in the sim slot provided.....it was easy to insert it .But now when I am trying to eject it i cannot hear the resistance spring clicking(like used for micro-SD slot)it's stucked.
Is there any specific procedure for SIM ejection in lumia 830 such as other lumia's which have SIM tray. Many 830 users are facing the same issue regarding SIM ejection.
Is this a quality issue??Please reply at the earliest

there is no other way then to push it in gently until it clicks. removal is much the same way. if it is damaged you will need to take it to your nearest Care Point for inspection, and liaison with them on the matter.

  • IPod nano power button issue

I am unable to turn on ipod nano when it is not plugged to iTunes. I suspect it to be a possible battery issue. The device works normal when connected to PC. The moment it is ejected and plugged out, the device itself switches off. What could be the issue?

Yes.  It sounds like the iPod's battery is on its last leg.  If you want to keep using your iPod you'll want to have the battery replaced either by Apple, a third party company, or you can even buy the replacement part and swap it out yourself.

  • Nano 3G charging issue, some things will charge it, some won't

Here is my issue, I hope someone here can help:
My daughter has a 8gb Nano. In the last week, it will not charge consistently.
She has an Altec Lansing speaker set that charged the Nano until this week, now it will not charge her Nano, but it will charge my iPod Classic 160gb, so that tells me the speakers are okay.
I have a different Altec Lansing speaker set that will charge my Classic, but it does not charge her Nano.
The computer USB cable will charge her Nano.
I have a dock plugged into the wall with the remote and connected to a stereo. It will charge both of our iPods.
I have a AC Adapter that will charge mine and not hers.
I have a cig lighter adapter that will charge mine, but not hers.
Lastly, she has an iHome clock/radio, that will charge both hers and mine.
I have restored her iPod, reset it, replaced all the music on it, still it will not charge on her Altec Lansing speakers, yet mine will.
Anyone have any ideas I can try before I assume it is her iPod?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Okay, have been reading some more and found an article that says that the connector on an iPod has firewire charging and USB charging capabilities. I am of the opinion now that something on her iPod went bad and it won't charge with devices that are firewire powered, but still work with USB powered devices. Apparently, lots of devices charge via firewire and Apple told manufacturers three years ago to abandon firewire and switch to USB.
I wonder if there is a setting somewhere to enable firewire charging that I need to turn on for her ipod that somehow got turned off?

  • 7th Generation Nano Water Damage Issues....

I had an early generation Nano that I ran with 5 times a week for 3-4 years.  Never had any water damage issues.  That Nano was lost with luggage and I made the move to the new 7th Generation nano.
Ran on the same schedule and after 4 months had water damage issues.  Has anyone come across water susceptibility issues with the newer generation models?  I am concerned about investing more money into devices through Apple if they are just going to get water damaged easily.
I was suprised when support said Nanos are not designed for high intensity working out (like running) - though they have a deal with Nike fitness.  Anyone have any suggestions on a smaller MP3 player that can hold up to sweating?

    Hi,
I seem to have the same problem with my (quite expensive) shure in-ear headphones. Every time I touch the (firmly inserted) headphone-plug or lock the screen, the ipod stops playing. It seems to work fine with the apple-headphones but they sound awfull compared to them... :/
This really ***** and makes this thing pretty much useless for me since I am using it for working out and this is bound to happen alot.
Were you able to solve your problem and if yes how?
    Greetings from austria!
