Nano, itunes, voice over

I purchased a nano and installed voice over kit, using my computer/itunes, for a friend who is blind. We do not live in the same city so I want to do what I can to keep it as simple as possible. My question; when she syncs with her computer is it going to be necessary to again install voice over? If she has installed itunes, but not set up an account, will itunes ask if she wants her computer to be authorized to my account? This would be idea as I could then manage itunes for both of us.
Any suggestions/assistance appreciated.
Hmm, just thought of something else. If I use WinXP and she uses win7 is that going to make a difference?

Interesting question. If you live near an Apple Store, ask one of the Geniuses about the setup you want. Read the iPod Nano 5th Gen. User Manual. Perhaps there is a solution there or search Apple's Knowledge Base.

  • IPod nano and Voice Over mode problems

The iPod Nano keeps going into Voice Over mode despite it being in the "Off" position under settings.  Am I doing something to override the settings and how can I get it to stop?

you may have enable voice over set in the iTunes settings
to turn it off do the following
    -connect ipod to computer
-when ipod shows up in the left column of iTunes under "devices" click on the ipod name
-in the summary page, scroll down to the bottom of the page until you get to a section that says "options"
-under options deselect the checkbox next to "enable voice over"
-click apply and that should turn it off
    hope this helps:)

  • Ipod Nano touch - voice over off, but still talks.

    Hello,
I bought my boyfriend the ipod nano multi-touch back in March. We couldn't seem to get the voice to stop interrupting our music. Then one day my boyfriend calls me down to the car to hear something weird... So, I go down and the ipod was going crazy. Over our car speakers it was playing a song for about 3 seconds and then giving all the info about the song, then it changed the song and did this over and over again. We took it to apple and they took it into the back for a few minutes. When they came back they said that they heard what it was doing when they plugged in their headphones to the ipod. They also said that they turned the voice over off and that was our problem.... okay that was about a month ago. Now... its doing all over again! The bizarre thing is that the voice over is off... we've done the restart and the resetting but nothing seems to be working. When the voice over thing isn't going crazy, it skips songs with out us touching it... This is very frustrating! If anybody has any idea how to fix this or any information on if apple can help or replace please let me know.
                                     Thank you!

Something is shorting out inside the iPod or something is shorting out the headset you are using, if it has buttons on the wire.
Even if voiceover is turned off, you can still make a 6th Gen Nano speak. What you are hearing is the track information. The nano will speak this to you if you press and hold the button on your headset (assuming you have a headset with buttons). If water gets into those buttons, it can cause the button to act like it is being pressed, pressed and held, etc.
This can also happen if moisture gets inside the Nano.
Does this only happen after exercise? Has it gotten wet?
First, make sure it gets totally dried out. You can put it in a baggie with some rice to dry it out - just make sure none of the rice gets into the headset jack!

  • ITunes Voice Over on iCloud and iPhone?

I used to have an iPod mini that supported voice over... introducing the songs/artist of my playlist... I found this really useful as I 5000+ songs in my favourites list and a s**t memory...
I now use iCloud for the management/delivery on songs to my iPhone and the voice over function would be really useful...
Is it still available and if so how do I set it up?
    Many Thanks...

  • Help with voice-over on Ipod nano

I'm totally blind and am using the 60g Ipod Nano with voice-over inabled. I am finding though even though the voice speaks the names of the menus, ie music, albums etc it doesn't speak the names of my albums or songs or tracks. What have I done wrong? I've tried connecting and leaving it to see if any voice tags are made, but nothing has happened. Any help would be welcome, it's driving me mad Many thanks from Lori.

    Try resetting your iPod.
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
Since you are totally blind, perhaps some one can double check your voice over settings to make sure everything is updated.

  • Voice Over is killing me!

I'm on my 2nd 6th gen Nano with voice over issues.  Voice over kicks on, usually when I'm working out or running.  I've disabled voice over on itunes and on the device itself . . . actually I didn't need to diable it because it was never enabled!  Any other ideas??

Your sweat can cause a short that makes the Nano announce the track you are playing. If you are using a headset with buttons on the wire, try using one that does not have that and see what happens.
If it happens then too, then your sweat is actually getting inside the Nano. This is not good. You need to let it dry out completely then either wear it in a position less susceptable to being exposed to sweat or perhaps a water proof case.

  • Nano 6th gen- voice over during songs

I have a nano 6th gen and during songs the music will fade and a voice over will interrupt and name the song and artist then will start skipping through the song. It will then repeat the name and artist then start listing the folders I have set up in Itunes. I have tried turning the ipod on and off but the problem is persistant. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? The ipod was bought new, not refurbished and isn't more than 1 1/2 yrs old.

I can't help you, but you are not alone!!
The same thing happens to me. .its been doing ti for a month now
    So annoying!
No idea why its happening or how to fix it

  • IPod Nano 7th Gen Info Voice Over Continually Runs

I bought my Ipod Nano 7th Gen last year and for several months now ive had a issue with the voice over of track information that occurs when holding down the pause/play button on the side of the ipod. The voiceover continues to run and i am unable to stop it, meaning that i have to just turn my device off and leave it. I have tried turning it on and off, the voice continues to run once turned back on, i have reset it, restored it and the voice continues to play over. I find that i have to turn it off and leave it for a while until i can use it again with out the voice over contstantly yelling track information at me. The voice over generally only does this when i am using my headphones and more commonly when i am listening to a podcast, however it still occurs when listening to music. The actually accessbilbity voice over is turned off and i have tried everything i can to stop this from driving me crazy. Is this a glitch in my ipod, should i head to a genius bar or is there some other way of fixing it that i have not come across.
    Thank You AnB

  • Nano (7th gen) voice over turned off but NOT

I have done 3 things to turn-off Voice Over:
    1)  Settings>General>Accessibility>VoiceOver
    2)  Settings>Reset Settings
    3)  Itunes>Owner's Ipod>Summary>Configure Universal Access
It is not like VoiceOver is turned on for either #1 or #3, so it is a mystery to me why it is turned on.
In fact, it is almost like sometimes it is on and sometimes it is off, but it is on when I don't want it to be.
It happens when I am watching videos (playlist) and not only does VoiceOver turn on but sometimes the
videos just go haywire and go fast forward, reset back to 1st video on playlist even though I want to watch 5th video.
Usually this happens maybe in conjunction with holding onto the Ipod, so I don't know if I am touching something
on the Ipod that is setting it off.
I think it just sounds like I have it exchange...
I even tried to find if there was a Voice Over Kit installed on my computer so I could uninstall it, but I couldn't find it...

I have the same problem. For me it seems to happen because of my headphones causing the voice memo app to appear, even though they don't have a microphone. I only get the weird voice over, pausing, skipping etc. when the voice memo app is visible on the home screen. My earphones don't cause this problem but headphones do, neither have a microphone. Voice memo does not always appear when i plug in my headphones, but when i pause it for a while and come back, it's there. Must be a bug in the software, if only apple cared to fix it. I guess there's still no solution?

  • Why is the voice over working on my nano, although I have reset and disabled it?

Occasionally, the voice over on my ipod nano 7th Gen. would interfere with my music playing. It interrupts songs with saying the song title, band names, things like "Top 25,"  "My Top Rated,"  "25 Most Played," etc. In addition, the fast foreward function would sometimes run while I am playing music, although I did not engage it. The music also pauses, skips, and plays without my choice. I have tried disabling voice over and resetting my nano, but the issue persists. How can I stop this from happening, or how may I procceed get this fixed?

  • Voice Over/ itunes 11.1.2./ Error 1701

    Hi,
I've tried for a few days to download voice over for itunes 11.1.2 without success after having upgraded to Mavericks.
All I get is an "error 1701"
    Does anyone have experienced that?

    For Mac OS X:
    Quit iTunes.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder.
Enter /Library/Application Support/iTunes and click Go.
Drag the "iPodVoiceOver.framework" folder to the Trash.
    Open iTunes.
    Sync your iPod  to iTunes.
heres the solution that will work for most.
unfortunely it hasnt worked for me as of yet on mavericks and im still getting the 1701 error code.
