  • How do i find my 1st gen nano library and transfer it to my itouch library

I had a 1st gen Nano and purchased an itouch. I noticed that once I registered my itouch, the nano library never came back up. I no longer have the nano. How can I find my nano library on my hard drive and transfer those songs to my itouch?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The music should be in your iTunes library. Open iTunes to configure what's put on your iPod touch.
If you had the +iPod nano+ set to manually managing music and have been deleting it out of iTunes after copying it to iTunes (not a scheme I could ever recommend) then you'll have to re-rip or re-import the music to iTunes.

  • Nano library wiped out

Help..all the music on my sons 2nd gen Nano has been wiped out. When we attempt to sync it back up, we get an error message that says "Songs on the ipod Jakes Ipod cannot be synced because all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist."
The songs are still on the library and are all checked..but they won't load because of the above error message.

For versions of iTunes from 7 onwards, the option to "update selected playlists" is now under the "music" tab in the summary screen.

  • Podcasts don't appear in nano library

Ever since I downloaded the latest version of itunes, the podcasts stored on my nano don't show up in my library. I have a 'Music' library in which my songs appear, but ther is no separate podcast library and the podcasts don't show up in 'Music'. They appear in the individual ipod playlists, but I can't delete them from my nano from there. Need to delete them from the library to clear space.
    Anyone else have this problem?

  • What's the easiest way to sync my new 2G nano to my 1G nano library?

Ok, this shouldn't be too tough. I want to give away my Nano to a friend and simply connect my new 8GB Nano to my current iTunes library setup. What's the easiset way to do this?

Connect your new Nano and follow the on screen instructions, it will find your existing iTunes and update. Depending on the size of your library you can have it update the whole lot, selected playlists or you can manage it manually.
    For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences:
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists or "Sync Music - All songs and Playlists" in iTunes 7. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only or "Sync Music - Selected playlists" in iTunes 7. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists or "Manually manage music and videos" in iTunes 7. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • I have a Nano, where I changed computers and moved my library.  Now my nano doesn't recognize the location or the song on the nano.  How do I update my library so the nano will recognize.

I  have an IPOD Nano.  I had it originally set up on another computer where I would down load my songs that I purchased from ITunes.  My Nano would sync up with my PC when I would plug it in.  I had to change computers, so I moved all my songs / library to my new PC.  I downloaded the ITunes process to my new PC and then purchased a song.  I saw the song in my download area of my PC under ITunes Media / downloads.  However, my nano would not sync as it is still referencing the prior location, which was on my old PC.  I moved the song directly to the Nano when it was plugged in.  I see the song on the Nano directory when I have it plugged in to the PC via the USB cable.  I even click on the song and I hear it play from the Nano on the PC.  However, when I go to look for the song directly from my song listing from the Nano music screen, it doesn't list he song or the artist as being on the Nano.
I have tried to follow the online instructions for erase and sync the old library to the new, but that doesn't happen.  Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong in moving from one PC to another.  Seems to me this should be a much simplier process.  But I find working with Apple products they are all harder to deal with.  I would appreciate your help.
    Mel

I am not doing it in ITunes, but i did down load the song from ITunes.  I loaded the song on to my Nano, but in my menu selections it doesn't show the song or the artist in any search format.  However, when i plug in my nano to my PC I see the Nano library on my PC drive listings and that song and artist are there.  I can click on the song and it will play in Windows media on my work PC.  I did notice that the format for most all the songs in my library on my Nano are MPEG - 4 audio Files.
    Thanks for your help, Mel

  • Transferring nano G3 library to classic ipod on my G5

A couple of issues. Daughter uses my old G3 OS 10.3.9 , she has a nano and was purchasing from iTunes (7) using "our" password and login and $. Just bought her a new classic iPod 80gb. The Classic won't run on her G3 with it's OS. I would have thought that when I log in on my G5 to the iTunes Store, what she "purchased" on the G3 would be displayed. Doesn't seem to be???????
The real problem is while I can connect both nano and classic to my G5 and see both libraries, I can't transfer her nano library to the classic. Not sure what copyright infringements I am stepping on or is it I am not being clever enough?
So to cut to the chase, how do I transfer her nano playlists to her classic?

I have synchronized my 160g iPod several times with no problem. Now my ipod says the sync was successful and that 28,000 songs are downloaded, but there is nothing anywhere on my ipod to play. Not even the artwork. I'm mystified as to what has transpired. I restored my ipod and downloaded my library again. Again, I was successful with nothing in my ipod. I am hoping you can help. Thank you. Raydeane

Configuring your iPod For Disk Use
If when starting iPodCopy you get a message indicating that your iPod cannot be found but your iPod is connected to your PC and is visible in iTunes, it may be that your iPod is not configured for "Disk Use".
    WARNING...
To set up Disk Use on an iPod requires that your iPod be connected to iTunes. Depending on your iPod and iTunes Preferences this may cause your iPod and iTunes to synchronize, resulting in a potential loss of music on your iPod.
    You should only proceed if...
1-The iPod is connected to its parent iTunes library which contains all your music,
2-OR The iPod is set to manually manage songs,
3-OR The iPod is not yet linked to the iTunes library that is about to be started.
If iTunes asks if you want to link the iPod to iTunes library - Click No.
This iPod option is set using iTunes. Follow these instructions...
    - With your iPod connected open iTunes.
    - From the iTunes menu select Edit->Preferences..
    - Select the iPod tab in the options preference window.
    - Select the "General" tab. (iTunes version 4.7 and below only)
    - make sure that "Enable disk use" is checked.
    - Click OK.
    - Restart iPodCopy.
I don't have all what they ask my. The only thing is the point 3 where the ipod it's not link it to the itune library that is about to started. but I don't know if I will lose the music that I have now in the ipod. I don't have my old computer, and that's another problem.

  • Can I load different songs from CD into Ipod Nano?

Paying 99 cents for a song . . in an ipod that can hold 1000 tunes. You'll have a 1000 dollar walkman before you know it SO, I was wondering could I load the existing CDs that I already own in the Ipod Nano library?
New mac user, former windows user,
    Adam

Sure, just rip the tunes from your CDs into iTunes in whatever supported format you want (mp3, AAC, etc). Then just sync the Nano to iTunes and it will automatically download the song files to the Nano. Note that you have to convert your audio CD songs to a file first, then transfer it to the Nano, using iTunes. You can't just stick a CD in the drive and download directly to the Nano without using some sort of ripping and transfer software.

  • Transfering Shared Music to Library

I have 64 songs in my Shared Music folder and I am trying to transfer these files to the IPod Nano Library, only anything I try does not work.. I am trying to transfer these because no songs will download to my Ipod. I'm assuming that they need to be in the library in order to transfer to the Ipod.. If this isn't correct, does anyone know how to get the files downloaded to the Ipod??

You can't load shared music into the iPod. You can play the songs on your computer, but you can't copy them to your own personal library nor to the iPod. The only thing I could suggest you do is move all of the shared music to your own computer and/or copy the songs from the original CD's to your computer.

You can't do that. It's simply not feasable with a stock ipod.

  • Correction to My Question re: Losing IPOD Library

I apologize for not stating my question clearly. The issue is that I have a 16 GB Nano IPOD Library. I also have a full 8GB Classic IPOD. I want to reset the Classic when it is attached to my PC but I am afraid it will wipe out my Nano Library.

As Niel stated in your previous thread, restoring your classic will not affect your 16 GB Nano or your iTunes library. There is no need to be worried about anything.
