Nano memory space

so i bought the 4gb nanopod though when i went put songs on it, it could only fit around 2.02 gb or such???! does anyone have/did have a similiar problem that they have solved?
any help would be much appreciated

You should check out the size of the music file that you are putting on. I also have a 4GB and I put mp3's with a 128kp size. The average length of all the songs were about a 4 min, give or take. I got 1073 songs and I still have 17MB left out of the 3.7GB that come on the iPod

  • 16gb ipod lost memory space

i bought 16gb 5th generation ipod nano from Amazon and just received it today.
i checked memory space of my ipod, the total capacity is only 14.8gb. i bought a new and i haven't put any musics or photos in it. does anyone having the same problem?

    Hello RayAl124.
I have the same ipod and when i first connected it, it had the same amount of memory (14.8gb). The reason why it doesnt have 16gb is because the ipod comes with built in software, games, etc. this is the reason for the missing 1.2gb.

though I have sufficent memory space, and other internet based functions are running...

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
However, since it works with other networks that really suggests a problem with your network.

  • What's in the JVM Process's Memory Space?

    Hello
I'm noticing the following behavior on an NT system. On
    application startup, I see
    Total Heap 9 MB
    Used Heap 5.5 MB
java.exe memory (from NT Task Manager) 36 MB
After a "login" operation which loads a few more
    classes:
    Total Heap 12.5 MB
    Used Heap 8.2 MB
java.exe memory (from NT Task Manager) 53 MB
Heap memory leaks have been ruthlessly suppressed
(thanks to OptimizeIt and careful programming). The
behavior I do not understand is that the NT process
(java.exe) increased in size by 17 MB when the Java
heap increased by only 3 MB. The .jar file in which the
application resides is less than 1 MB, so this 14 MB
growth can not be attributed to new classes being
    loaded.
Does anyone know what is going into the process
memory space of java.exe? It tends to grow larger
    and larger.
Should I even care? Do I want a large allocation of
process memory for java.exe, or will that hamper
performance of machines with less physical memory?
Posts on related topics in this forum have sometimes
advocated allocating a lot of memory to the JVM with
    -X options.
    Thanks

    Hello
I am facing exactly the same problem on NT. However, on 2000 Server this problem doesn't seem to exist. Are you, by any chance, using JNI? We are extensively using JNI in our Servlets and found that there is definitely some momory leak there. We could not figure out any substantial leak at Java end. In NT's "Task Manager" java.exe is always listed first and very rarely the memory usage seems to come down. On 2000 Server the performance is far better.

  • HT1660 Store my iTunes in iCloud and not my computer so save to memory space?

How can I store my iTunes in iCloud and not my computer to save on memory space?  I want my iPhone and iPad to Sync with iCloud and not my PC..... What is the sequence I need to follow?

    Hello Bondisun,
It sounds like you would like to free up disk space on your computer by listening to your purchases directly from the Cloud, rather than storing them on your computer. First check the preferences setting to Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases in your iTunes preferences:
Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases
Display items purchased from the iTunes Store that haven’t been downloaded to your computer. These items have a Download button next to them.
From: iTunes 11 for Windows: iTunes Store preferences
              http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12468
Then you can delete all the songs in your library, and empty your trash to free up the disk space.
iTunes 11 for Mac: Delete songs, playlists, or other items
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12159
If you have music in your library that was NOT purchased from iTunes, this will not work for them. In order to store those songs in the Cloud and listen to them via streaming as outlined above, you would need the iTunes Match service.
Here is some more information on that:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/
As far as your iOS devices, simply sign into your accout in Settings > iTunes and App Stores and that will sync your devices to your iTunes account.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    Sterling

    dave0915,
iTunes stores your iPhone backups in the Library folder in your Home folder.
iTunes places the backup files in these places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

I have a Window 7 HP laptop. I want to install Snow Leopard on an external hard drive as the memory space on my laptop is very less. I have the original snow leopard disc and I think it's a retail version . Please guide me through the installation in details. Can you also please let me know about this boot camp.

You cannot. From a legal standpoint, the license agreement for OS X mandates that you run OS X only on Apple hardware. HP is not (yet) owned by Apple.
From a technical standpoint, your HP laptop doesn't use EFI, but rather an early predecessor called a BIOS. Apple is the only vendor of consumer computer hardware that uses EFI; other vendors reserve EFI for use in servers.
Secondly, Apple's operating systems support a rather limited number of configurations of video hardware and mainboard chipsets directly since they need only support those systems that they manufacture. You cannot use Windows software or drivers on OS X, so prior to installation, you would need to write your own hardware drivers for your laptop, create an OS X drive image on a Mac, and then modify that image with your drivers before putting it in the HP.
It will be simpler (and legal), to simply purchase a used Mac. Apple's online store has refurbished MacBook Airs starting at $850 and Mac Minis for $700. If you go to e-bay or craigslist, you'll find used Macs for considerably less.

  • Memory space issue in internal table

    Hi ,
My report is dumping because there is no memory space availabe for extending the memory of an internal table, after it gets filled with about 2500000 lakh records.
the dump analysis is as follows :-
    Error analysis
The internal table (with the internal identifier "IT_317") could not be
enlarged any further. To enable error handling, the internal table had
to be deleted before this error log was formatted. Consequently, if you
navigate back from this error log to the ABAP Debugger, the table will
be displayed there with 0 lines.
When the program was terminated, the internal table concerned returned
    the following information:
    Line width: 1700
    Number of lines: 106904
    Allocated lines: 106904
New no. of requested lines: 8 (in 1 blocks)
    How to correct the error
The amount of storage space (in bytes) filled at termination time was:
    Roll area...................... 7272944
    Extended memory (EM)........... 603339264
    Assigned memory (HEAP)......... 396390176
    Short area..................... " "
    Paging area.................... 40960
    Maximum address space.......... 529887568
You may able to find an interim solution to the problem
in the SAP note system. If you have access to the note system yourself,
    use the following search criteria:
Please suggest what can be done.
    Regards,
    Vikas Arya

    Hi,
This solution might not sound good. But give a thought.
While appending data u may take more than one internal table.
Append first 10lakh records to 1st table, Second 10 lakhs to second table etc.
But from where are u getting the source data? It should be present in some internal table correct?
Probably u can use dynamic internal tables concept.
Also check ur code carefully. After the place of appending if u are not going to use any internal tables then use FREE itab
statement to free the memory allocated.
Also reduce the global declarations as much as possible
    Thanks,
    Vinod.

In tune show all summary activity during sync between nb and apple device. One of the summary is memory space status. Audio mayb3gb, photo 2gb, app with 3gb. What is other? Other consist of what type of file? It show quite substantial storage capacity?? Anyone can answer what is in other??

"Other" includes data such as contact information and photos assigned to contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks/cookies/history, notes created with the Notes application, SMS messages, email stored locally or cached, and 3rd party application data created and stored by the application.
If "other" is more than say .75GB at the most, you had a corrupt sync. Try syncing again and if the problem persists, the recognized fix for this is to restore your iPad.

  • HT201364 Free up memory space on start up disk

How do you remove items from start up disk to free memory space?

You should never, EVER let a conputer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your other Mailboxes and other Mail categories to see If there is other mail you can archive and/or delete.
Other things you can do to gain space.
Once you have around 15 GBs regained, do a search, download and install OmniDisk Sweeper.
This app will help you locate files that you can move/archive and/or delete from your system.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.
    Good Luck!

Can someone help me with this?

    Hi Bob,
Many thanks for your reply. I believe your observation is correct. I can run the report when I choose only one month instead of 17 months.
However, do you think that something can be done on BW server to eliminate this problem? Is there not enough memory on BW server to fulfil this request?
