Nano not playing out to monster fm modulator

I have an ipod nano that will only play music through my car radio using a monster adaptor about 25% of the time. Tried the cord with my mom's ipod and it works every time I try it. No music plays even if I connect my ipod right after hers. The store keeps saying it's a problem with the monster cord, but I don't see how that can be if it works when a different ipod is connected.
Any one had this happen??

Meredith and Alex,
After unplugging your headphones, *reset the nano. (* Press and holde the Menu and Select buttons until you see the apple logo). This will not erase anything from your nano, it just allows the audio to come from the dock connector.

  • Nano not playing loud

    Hi All,
    My nano isnt playing very loud at all... I have the settings on the highest volume so i dont know what the problem is, it has been like this since i got it... My old IPOD was much louder, can anyone help pls?
    Thanks
    Tania

    On the Settings screen (on the nano), there should be a command that says Reset Settings.  In case the volume setting is somehow corrupted, try selecting that command.  That should give your nano default settings for everything, including volume.
    I'm guessing you have already done a Reset ("reboots" iPod) at some point, this procedure
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
    If those things do not help, the only remaining thing to try is a Restore, which is done from the nano's Summary tab in iTunes (select nano in iTunes sidebar under DEVICES).  This will erase the nano, re-install the latest software, and set it to default ("factory") settings.
    If that does not help either, since you have ruled out the possibility of bad headphones, there is probably a defect in the nano.  It has a one-year warranty, so (if it's a recent purchase) you can contact Apple to see about getting it replaced.  If you have an Apple Store nearby, you also can make a reservation at the Genius Bar.
    In the Contact Us link at the bottom right corner of this web page, it says
    "Mac, iPhone, iPod and iPad customers within 90 days of ownership are eligible for complimentary phone support — one support incident per iPod and unlimited incidents per Mac, iPhone and iPad."
    So if it's been less than 90 days, you can speak to an Apple tech support employee about the problem.

  • Do iPod Nanos not play tv shows?

    I bought a tv episode. It will not sync to my ipod nano. Is there something wrong, or is my nano not designed to play tv shows?

    Can I get my money back from the Apple Store? It should be listed that the videos won't work with certain models before we spend time and money downloading them!

  • Audio not playing out of QT file (kinda) in QT 10.2

    So, I called up an old (and large!) HD file I had of a show I produced (ProRes 422, dual, stereo, etc.)
    My default QuickTime Player (10.2) pops up... loads the file. I play it...  But NO audio plays! (Checked the internal volume, of course.)
    Curious. I ingested it into FCPX. But... Sound (and picture) played FINE.
    Curiouser... I loaded it into QT7, and the audio played fine THERE, too.
    How can I get my audio to show up in QT10? (I'm including a screenshot of the inspector from QT10? There is show 48kHz discrete (stereo) channels.)

    Mind giving me a step-by-step on how I actually execute this change in QT7Pro, and... how I "save" same QT file so it'll play as a QT10 file.
    One work flow would be:
    1) Open the file in the QT 7 Pro app.
    2) Open the "Properties" window.
    3) Select the audio track and open the "Audio Setting" tab in ther lower half of the "Properties" window.
    4) Click the "Channel 1" ("Discrete-0") line in the "Channel/Assignment" window to open the "pop-up" and then select the "Left" channel assignment option.
    5) Now do the same for "Channel 2" but select the "Right" channel assignment in the pop-up window option.
    6) At this point, the "Channels" entry for the audio track in the top half of the "Poroperties" window should have changed from "2 Discrete Channels"
    to read "Stereo (L R) as seen here:
    7) Now you have two options for saving the file:
    a) Select the "Save" File menu option to save the new channelization settings to the original file or
    b) Select the "Save As..." File menu option to leave the original file unchanged and copy all of the data and changed channelization settings to a new filw with a different name. (Note: ProRes422 ref files may or may not play the video in QT X player so I recommend the "Standalone" option here.)
    Basically, the first option is very fast but actually modifies the original file while the second option must rewrite all data to a new file which can take much more time.
    Good luck...

  • Ipod nano not playing audiobooks for more than one minute at a time

    Does anyone know how to fix this problem?  I stopped using it after I couldn't play an audiobook for more than a minute before it stopped.  A friend thought she had fixed it, but I downloaded another audiobook to the ipod nano and it did the same thing...played for a minute and then turned off.  I want to take it with me on a 8K walk, but it is discouraging.

    No there is no multi-select for creating SQL-Loader scripts.
    You can either create them separately or create them all and
    then discard the one you do not need.

  • Nano not playing downloadeds from itunes music

    Help! I downloaded a song (for the first time) from ITunes music into my library. However, when i go to play the song on my Ipod it lists the song and the album cover but quickly goes back to the menu screen. I am unable to play the song on my ipod Nano. It clearly downloaded from Itunes because i am able to listen to it from my itunes just not on my ipod. How can i fix this problem?

  • Nano not playing

    about %75 of the time, when I start up the nano, no music plays...I checked all the dumb stuff like mute and hold, yada yada....and the only way to solve the problem has been to turn off then on....I shouldnt have to reset a $200 product in the first week...should I?

  • Nano not playing entire track

    I have transfered an audio book to my nano. It plays just fine in itunes (9) but it cuts off the last few minutes of each track when playing on the iPod. The track information indicates it is the correct length and as I watch it play, with ~ 9 minutes remaining in the track, it switches to the next track. Has anyone seen this behaviour?

    *Skipping songs*
    The iPod seems to fail to play all of the occasional track that iTunes, and indeed other PMPs, are happy to play. There is probably some minor technical error in the internal structure of the file which is normally ignored by other playback software but causes the Classic to bail out.
    You may like to try scanning the files with MP3 Validator which can find & fix some internal MP3 errors.
    Some users have also suggested that completely removing all id3 tags and then replacing the information can be a solution. This can be achieved in iTunes by selecting an affected track, right/option clicking and using the option Convert id3 tags > None. Since some files may mistakenly have more than one tag you may need to repeat this action. Once you have confirmed that no tag is present you can replace the tag information using Convert id3 tags > V2.3 (I believe it is recommended to avoid using V2.4).
    Personally I have found files for which these solutions don't work. In this case the workaround is either to re-rip the tracks or get iTunes to re-encode the file, e.g. convert AAC to MP3 or vice versa and sync the newly encoded file to the iPod instead. Because transcoding will cause a loss of fidelity you should keep your original file so that if a future iPod firmware resolves this issue you can put your original files back onto the iPod.

  • X6 will not play music out loud when i use music p...

    Hi
    i was wondering if anyone could help me , ive just got a nokia x6 as a upgrade , i myself have a blackberry so i gave this to my dad however being parents do not know what there doing with a touch screen phone, this x6 will not play music out loud through the speakers , could he have changed anything on the phone ?? he told me this once and i tryed it and it worked but i have recently tryed the phone again and now the music will not play out loud through the speakers can anyone help?????

    @steve_p: The point I am trying to make is your statement that the X6 has an annoying bug where the music player goes to near silent through the loud speakers. Just because it affects some phones but not all does not mean it is a bug. If it was a bug it would affect all phones not just some...
    I do NOT agree with your logic at all. According to your reasoning every single X6 on the planet has to suffer a particular issue before that problem can then be termed a 'bug'. Taking that arguement to its ultimate conclusion you would state that the X6 has never suffered any bugs what-so-ever. I'm sorry I do NOT agree. I note you live in Australia, a totally different market from UK where I happen to be, as chanchan has stated there are hundreds of different product codes that cover just the X6 let alone the different hardware platforms RM559 & RM551 plus the 3 different mass storage sizes I mentioned above. Different batches of handsets and different market areas can suffer from different issues that won't necessarily be the same. I would class a bug as an issue that affects more than 1 person or a handful of people. Let's agree to disagree eh?

    Agreed. Hence my comments above.

    ... All I am saying is you do not want to tell people the phone has a bug unless you have proof to back up your statement or you lose your credibility...
    I'm here to help people. If someone has an issue with their Nokia phone that I have had experience with or that I have found a solution to then I will help if I can. I don't have to justify myself to you by providing documented evidence and digging up proofs. Again I don't really care about my credibility to you either... people can see my full post history all the way back to 2005 when I first joined and they can judge for themselves if I my advice is worth taking, or not.

    There you go again!!! You know it's funny that in my 5 years of posting on this forum only one person has had problems with the factual accuracies of my posts... You! Please enlighten me by way of PM to my past misdemeanours and I will happily discuss them with you, again via PM, I think this poor thread has been spammed to death as it stands. Can I also please ask that in the future if you have any problems with my posts and you think that I am deliberately trying to mislead or post falsehoods that you notify a moderator, or contact me via PM. Quite frankly, I don't like your tone or attacking nature and I don't like being typecast as a liar or worse an uninformed idiot and I'll thank you not to point accusations my way again. If, however, you have another point of view to my own and can put that down in a civil way then I'll happily respond. I will leave it there for now and I will do my best not to post in this thread again, unless to give further help to the original poster.

  • Forcing a symbol within a symbol to play out when a button on the main timeline is clicked?

    I have a buttons that play to symbols on the timeline. Once another button is clicked on the timeline the symbol will playout then start playing the next symbol. This is the code used on the onClick event on the introduction button.
    var current = sym.getVariable("current");
       if (current != "") {
          sym.getSymbol(current).play("out");
          sym.getSymbol("intro").play("in");
       else {
          sym.getSymbol("intro").play("shortIn");
       sym.setVariable("current", "intro");
    The problem I'm having is with the technology symbol. I have buttons within this symbol that link to other symbols. I would like these symbols to playout like the other buttons, but the content of the symbol stays on the stage and does not play out when I select a button on the Stage. Here is the code I have on the click event on the button within the symbol.
    var current2 = sym.getVariable("current2");
       if (current2 != "") {
          sym.getSymbol(current2).play("out");
          sym.getSymbol("optical1").play("in");
       else {
          sym.getSymbol("optical1").play("shortIn");
       sym.setVariable("current2", "optical1");
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

    Thank you very much for responding so quickly! When I do this all of the nested timelines play from the out label on their timeline. I want the one that is currently being viewed to be the only one that plays out, not all of the symbols within the symbol. Here is the code I'm using on the buttons on the main timeline:
    var current = sym.getVariable("current");
       if (current != "") {
          sym.getSymbol(current).play("out");
          sym.getSymbol("spec").play("in");
       else {
          sym.getSymbol("spec").play("shortIn");
       sym.setVariable("current", "spec");
       var techSym1 = sym.getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym1")
             if (current = "techSym1") {
                sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym1").play("out");
       var techSym2 = sym.getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym2")
             if (current = "techSym2") {
                sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym2").play("out");
       var techSym3 = sym.getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym3")
             if (current = "techSym3") {
                sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym3").play("out");
       var techSym4 = sym.getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym4")
             if (current = "techSym4") {
                sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym4").play("out");
       var techSym5 = sym.getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym5")
             if (current = "techSym5") {
                sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym5").play("out");
       var techSym6 = sym.getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym6")
             if (current = "techSym6") {
                sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("tech").getSymbol("techSym6").play("out");
    If just techSym1 is being shown on the screen I don't want techSym2 and all the others to be shown going out at all, just techSym1.
    Thank you,
    Kristin

  • Music will not play in the left headphone.

    Ok, so I have a first generation iPod touch and have had it for about three years now, and it has worked perfectly fine until recently I will go to play music with headphones in and it will not play out of the left headphone. At first I thought it was my headphones, since I have blown them out before, but I tried plugging several types of headphones, even apple brand, and I get the same result. It also does not play music out of the left-hand speaker in my iHome. You have to move the headphones and hold them in a certain way or it won't work, Pleaseeeee help me.

    Where have you tried to get help?
    basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.
    If that fails, then make an appointment at the genius bar.

  • I-pod nano (2nd generation), Music will not play. HELP

    When I go under music and then click songs, my songs list comes up. When a click on a song the artist and title come up but the song does not play. The screen shows the time of the song but nothing plays. I am on vacation and I do not have my music saved where I am at. Is there anyway to fix this without resetting everything and losing my music. Thank you

    that's kinda a had question... but here goes!
    my thought is that either the files aren't encoded correctly to be played on the iPod nano, or the power from the iPod isn't reaching the earbuds.
    The first thing, have you tried a different set of earbuds? it may be an issue of the headphones.
    Second, if that doesn't work, when you get back, check your computer to make sure the songs you want are one of the following: AAC (M4A, M4B, M4P, up to 320 Kbps), Apple Lossless (a high-quality compressed format), MP3 (up to 320 Kbps), MP3 Variable Bit Rate (VBR), WAV, AA (audible.com spoken word, formats 2, 3, and 4) and AIFF files.
    This could be the problem. Check the Info menu of different songs in iTunes to find out the coding of the song.
    If all fails, take the iPod to an Apple Store, there may be an underlying problem with the nano.
    good luck!
