Nano replacement: status is still "Empty box shipped" after 1 and half month

Hi All,
I know there might be hundreds of similar discussions in here, but am really starting to worry...
Sent my Ipod Nano back to Apple in the UK and got Royal mail confirmation that my ipod was received on the 30th ( Your item with reference XXXXX was delivered from our LUTTERWORTH Delivery Office on 30/11/11 .  Thank you for using this service.  We can confirm that this item was delivered before the guaranteed time.  You can now see the electronic Proof of Delivery for this item by clicking the button below.)
However, my repair status still says "Empty box shipped" since then!
I totally understand Apple must have received hundreds of these and that it may take time for them to update the repair status, but isn't there a way for me to get confirmation my ipod is actually in their hands?

This is normal. My ipod was delivered to apple in December, and I just got notified that they received it. I'm just waiting for them to sent me a replacement.

  • I contacted apple on the 28th of october for a repair on my ipod as it is no longer working. On my repair status it says empty box shipped and it should arrive within 2 business days. It is now Friday and the box still hasnt arrived.

    For my experience i shipped my ipod on a monday, they had it for tuesday and got it back on wendesday but this is because apple put my ipod on express shipping with ups but dont worry about it you should be getting it within this weekend and no you don't have to sign for it, the package is fairly small. If the delivery truck goes by your house and no one is home they will leave a notification on your door saying so and on the paper will be options to eighter make a delivery date where you will be available, or tell them to withhold a package for you at one of thier locations and pick it up. If you choose to pick it up you will require to bring a state id with you that has your current adress. Hope this helps somewhat.

    I send my iPod Nano 1g to replacement service, but everything I got back is an empty box! The box was allready open, before I got it. What should I do now? Im from Germany and the product replacement was in the netherlands.

    Has anyone ever received a shipment from Apple even though their online status shows their order as "not yet shipped"? Not sure if my iPad hasn't shipped yet due to high demands although it should have already or if magically it is on its way.

    Heh...I think it'd put a whole new spin on "magical" and "revolutionary" if it were shipping without our knowing it.
    I haven't ordered much directly from Apple's online store--I've either bought stuff from the brick-and-mortar Apple Store in town or I've bought online from elsewhere--but no, I don't think I've seen anything ship with the order status not reflecting that. On the other hand, I've heard that the UPS shipping tracking pages can be inaccurate (behind) with this kind of stuff. An article like this, from the Boy Genius Report, shows a little of that:

    I'll try to see if I can find something from earlier this month about how the tracking pages can also be inaccurate because they claim something's in, say, China, but it's actually Stateside and just hanging out in a warehouse, but I haven't been able to track it down yet. I'll have to do some more digging and see if I can find it, but yeah...someone (@ThomasAtUPS at Twitter?) had mentioned it with regard to the wifi-only iPads being sold in stores and getting shipped out to people's homes.

  • 1 Gen replacement program, still no box to return.

    An e-mail I received on 11/11/11 stated a replacement program is in place for my 1st gen. nano due to possible issues with the battery overheating.  I completed the online form and was told a box would be shipped to return my iPod nano.  Now, its been over 3 weeks later and still no box.  It would also appear following up is not possible.  When ever I try to click the link I was provided in the e-mail to check the status of my repair, I am just told that service has been requested and am provided no other information.
    Anyone else having this issue with the replacement program?  Anyone know how to really follow-up and see why it's taking so long to get a return box?

    I have had the opportunity to actually contact Apple on this recall. They advise that the recall program is overwhelmed. The box was received finally (almost a month after signing up) and I returned it back and delivery was confirmed. Now two weeks later, I have nothing to do but wait as there was no email acknowledging receipt and no tracking info on the replacement one. Captain Paul

    Yes.  Apple has been hammered with the number of service/replacement requests for the 1st generation Nanos.  Just keep waiting.

    I've been watching the forums for a while now, and I know about the box shortage, but I'm afraid there are still some things that confuse me. It's been almost three weeks since I submitted a request for the first gen nano replacement program. Has anyone else been waiting this long? I admit, it's really frustrating to just have to wait with no word from Apple about when we can expect to recieve boxes.
    I was also wondering if there's been any sort of answer on what the mailed-in nanos are being replaced with. Brand new first gen nanos, new nanos of a different generation, refurbished nanos (first gen or otherwise)? Maybe I've been looking in the wrong places, but I haven't seen a definitive answer. Has anyone completed the whole replacement program who can answer this?
    Thanks for all the help! I was so excited when I first got the email telling me about this replacement program, but it's difficult when everything seems so vague.

    Hey guys, new to this forum / community,
    I was enquiring about my iPod Nano replacement, I shipped it on the 3rd so a Saturday by Royal Mail UK and I havent got a response yet, its been 4 business days and Im quite scared wonder if its been lost through the post. if it has been lost through post and I have proof of postage how would I go claiming it?

    Wouldn't worry. Apple have been overwhelmed by people sending in their nano's and they are behind schedule.
    I have been waiting for my box to arrive for about 3 weeks now!

    UPDATE. Just spoke with an AppleCare representative, Apple has been inundated with requests for these iPod Nano replacements.  They have fallen behind with sending out the return boxes in the 2 days they promised.  I was told to wait an additional 2 days.  She also said they were very surprised so many people still have their 1st generation nanos...
    We have been an Apple family for years and trust they will do the right thing, they have always surprised us with their professional customer service and expect this situation to be the same.
