Nano second gernatation only plays 1st few seconds

My Ipod nano second generation only plays the 1st 3 second (and sometime up to the 1st minute) of a few of my songs. All my songs are MPegs from baught CDs. Can anyone help?
If I pause the song before it stops (which is very hard if it only plays for 3seconds) and fast forward a bit the rest of the song plays fine.
If I play the songs from the ipod through itunes it plays fine all the way through it is only when I play it on my ipod.
I have tried deleting and recopying the songs to the ipod and the same problem still occurs. I have also tried resetting and it still happens

Hi Dingley,
Restoring an iPod (which deletes all of the contents off of it) is one of the main troubleshooting steps to try if you having iPod issues. Oftentimes a restore fixes playback-type issues like this, so I would suggest that you try this next.
Do you have all of your music backed up on your computer, or elsewhere, like an external hard drive?
If you do have everything backed up, then, again, I would suggest that you try this, since the restoring/resyncing process really is easy, and relatively quick.
Typically, a restore takes a couple of minutes, while your iPod's resync might take about 6 minutes per GB of music. (it could vary from computer to computer, of course, depending on if you have other programs running, processing speed, etc.).

  • 5th gen iPod will only play 1st few seconds of certain songs

Have a 5th gen ipod, 30gb, with about 21gb on it. Its only recently starting to play the 1st 10-15 seconds of certain songs and then it'll skip to the next. It's happening to purchased songs as well as cd imports. Seems to be getting worse, anyone experienced anything similar??

I guess there is not a solution.

  • HT203167 Some songs only play a few seconds

Just downloaded new John Mayer, Born and Raised, album and there are about 6 songs that will start playing but only play a few seconds of the song and the skip to the next track.  Can't find any answers in iTunes support.  Any suggestions????

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • My purchased TV show says "downloaded" but only plays a few seconds of the program.

Why does my puchased TV show download only a few seconds of the show--it says "Downloaded"

Ah, figured it out. Had to completely delete the song from my purchases - put it in the recycle bin. Found it in the store, hit the Buy button, prompt said I already had bought it, and asked if I wanted to download it. Worked this time.
    Thanks

  • ITunes only plays a few seconds of song and moves on

I just downloaded an album from iTunes and the most bizarre thing is happening. For the first three songs, it plays approximately 3 seconds of the song and then moves to the next song immediately. But, on the 4th song and beyond it plays the entire song. I'm thoroughly confused by this and it's irritating to say the least! Any ideas as to why this is happening and how I can stop it without uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes? (If it helps, the album works fine on my desktop which I homeshare with).

    Hello there, ashglaw14.
It sounds like you may have some interrupted downloads on your desktop computer. The following Knowledge Base article provides some steps to check if you have interrupted downloads:
iTunes: How to resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1725
If that is not the case, then you may just want to download the songs again, by deleting the songs having the issue:
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5772
    Mac or PC
Before you delete, find out if you'll be able to download the song you deleted again (it depends on where you live). To delete a song:
    Launch iTunes.
From the Library pop-up menu, choose Music.
Click Songs in the navigation bar.
Click the song you want to delete.
Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
In iTunes 11, the album cover art will remain visible, but a cloud icon will appear on it to allow you to download the item again (in countries that support this).
Note: If you didn't purchase a song from the iTunes Store, you won't be able to download it again for free from iTunes in the Cloud. You might want to back it up somewhere on your computer.
Once that is complete, then download your purchase again, by using the information found here:
    Download past purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
    iTunes Store
Open iTunes and go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased in the Quick Links section.
Select the content type that you want to download (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, or Books).
Select Not in My Library to view purchased content that isn't on your computer.
Find the item that you want to download. You can browse using the menu to the left. If you have more than 2,000 songs, you will see Recent Purchases instead of All Songs or Albums.
Click the Download icon next to the item you want to download.
If an item is already in your library, the Download icon won't appear.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro

  • Purchased full song, only plays a few seconds of opening.

I recently purchased a song 2:35 long, but when I added it to my playlist and played it, it only plays the first bar or so, then moves on to the next song. What is wrong/what can I do to fix this?
    Thanks.

Ah, figured it out. Had to completely delete the song from my purchases - put it in the recycle bin. Found it in the store, hit the Buy button, prompt said I already had bought it, and asked if I wanted to download it. Worked this time.

  • Itunes only plays first few seconds of a song...

I have a mac mini that I purchased last summer and have recently been having itunes problems. I have had no internet at home for a couple months but I believe itunes was up to date when I last had online access. I think I upgraded to Yosemite? But honestly can't remember. I am on my work computer and far from home.
So starting a couple of weeks ago, when playing certain albums in itunes, it would play the first 5-10 seconds of a song and then jump to another song on that album. I could switch albums and it would play fine. Sometimes. But the problem has worsened and now I cannot play anything in itunes without this happening. Very frustration to say the least. I have tried restarting itunes and restarting the machine with and that has not helped. Maybe a reinstall of itunes? Sounds like that will need internet access to get re-updated and such? Any help here is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hmmmm. I see a lot of questions and issues with iTunes in this here forum but not many answers and solutions to those problems. Seems Apple has been taking some missteps lately and forgetting a big part of what got them to where they are: their stuff worked with ease. Seems so many more stumbling steps these days.

  • Track only plays a few seconds

I bought an album from the itunes store. Track 3 stops after some seconds (altough it's longer than 10 min.) and continues with track 4. Can I download track 3 another time?

This sounds like a Crossfade problem. When you're in iTunes, go to Preferences/Playback Preferences/Crossfade Songs, and uncheck "Crossfade Songs."
Otherwise, check the end of this thread:

  • Ipad only plays a few seconds of my songs?

How can I fix this; I've tried everything I can think of?

I have this problem too and the only thing that seems to help is to re-import the CD into iTunes. It corrected the problem. I only seem to have the problem with CDs that I imported into iTunes mysel--not purchased music. Make sure that you click replace so that you don't have the same CD twice in your library.

  • ITunes plays a few seconds and skips

My daughter's PC crashed and I had to rebuild it, but I was able to get her music off of the drive before I rebuilt.
An odd thing is happening now. She has several songs that she purchased from the iTunes store that will play a few seconds, then skip to the next song. They do it on her PC and mine (where I copied the music before I rebuilt her PC). Both are Windows XP Pro.
The files appear to be full size. I have burned them to a CD through iTunes, but they do the same thing on a CD player. If I open them in QuickTime, they play all the way through, but have periodic "skips" in the song, the first occurring where it completely stops in iTunes. They also only play a few seconds on the iPod before skipping to the next song.
It isn't all of her music and it's not all of her purchased music. It is just selected songs.
I found a thread on another message board somewhere of someone with the same problem, but as is usually the case, there was not resolution given.
Does anyone have any ideas what caused it and how we can correct the problem? Will Apple do anything about it?

If the song was corrupted during the import into iTunes, it needs deleting from there (and your iPod) and re-importing.

  • My nano is fully charged and when I use the earphones it comes with, the nano stops playing my music after a few seconds and turns off.  But when I use another earphone, it's okay and stays on. How do I keep the nano from turning off after a few seconds?

Why does my nano keep turning off after a few seconds while I'm listening to my music?  It's fully charged and brand new.

I've tried everything in the article "Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista and Windows 7 video playback performance issues''. Here are my results.
    My computer meets the requirements.
All software (Windows, iTunes and QuickTime) are up to date.
As for updating my drivers, I found nothing labeled 'Video'. The closest thing I found in Computer/Manage/Device Manager was to click + next to 'Display Adapters' under that I found 'Intel (R) HD Graphics Family' which I right-cicked. From the menu, instead of 'Properties', I selected 'Update Driver Software...', then I selected 'Search Automatically for updated driver software'. I saw the messages "Searching for Software... Searching online for Software... The best driver software for your device is already installed. Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date." I got these same messages when I searched for updated audio drivers.
My computer is already at the highest display resolution. (1366 x 768 recommended) That's as high as my resolution will go. Hmm, I noticed the article's example shows '(1920 x1080 recommended)'. Is my max 1366 x 768 resolution high enough?
As for QuickTime, deselecting 'Enable Direct3D video acceleration' had no effect. Disabling the DirectX entirely (Safe mode (GDI only)) allowed the audio to play, but there was no video, only a black screen.
As for turning on DMA, the only item under 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers' is 'Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller' So I right-clicked, selected 'Properties'. There's no 'Advanced Settings' tab in there. The tabs are 'General, Drivers, Details, Resources' no 'Advanced Settings' anywhere. So much for that.
'Readyboost' was already set at 'Do not use'.
No 'NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA (SATA) controllers' exist in my computer.
The problem still exists. Please help.

  • Songs cutting short, play for 1st few seconds and s

    Hi,
I noticed some of my songs that I've transferred into my muvo v00 are cutting short and would only play for the first 0 or so seconds. I've got the latest firmware and I know that there isn't anything wrong with these songs when I play it on my own computer.
Are others having the same problem?

It seems if I retransfer the problematic songs one by one, instead of bulk large number of songs at once, then the song is able to play fine on my player. It seems it doesn't matter what type of song, whether from cd or downloaded subscription service, it's just random songs that play for only the first few seconds.
Does this mean the player is having trouble to correctly receive songs from the computer if there is a large amount at once? This would be very annoying.

  • Can't import songs and ones in library only play for 45 seconds

I'm in the process of moving my music collection to a new computer with a bigger hard drive. I installed the latest version of iTunes on the new computer, copied all the folders and contents of the itunes folder to the new computer in the same location.
I bought a couple new songs successfully but now I can't add any of the files from my previous computer to the new library. I was able to import a few songs that iI purchased when on my original machine but now they only play for 45 seconds and jump to the next song in the playlist (if check) And now when I drag and drop songs on the Library to import them absolutely nothing happens.
And yes, the new computer is authorized and the permissions on the folders are read / write.
Any one have an idea of how to fix this? If not, I just going to burn all my songs to CD and import them that way and say so long to iTunes... just too much BS to just move a music library!

Sounds like the PC's authroization file is messed up, or else the iTUnes preferences files.
Follow the directions in this article, the SC Info file holds the PC authroization for iTMS songs.
iTunes Does Not Open After Upgrading
And also deleted these 2 preferecnes files:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
They will all get rebuilt when you open iTunes the next time. It should ask for authorization one last time, is all.

  • ITunes Store only plays about 10 seconds of a preview before stopping

I try to preview songs before buying them and it's supposed to play 1:30 of the song but it will only play 4-15 seconds of it then it'll stop. I can drag it to later in the song, but it will still only play for a few seconds. This just started about a week or two ago and we haven't done anything to our computer recently. It doesn't even happen for every song, just most of them. The songs in my library all work fine and they play perfectly after I buy them, but not in the preview. I've been all over different sites looking for an answer, but no one else seems to have the same problem. How do I fix this???

    Larry, try this:
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    ipconfig /flushdns
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Totally shut down computer.
    Restart your computer.
Now try your preview music again.

  • Audio only on first few seconds

I have a problem with the audio on PE9. I use the Organizer to import the files from my hd. The files play perfectly with Quick Time and VLC. When I play the file in PE9 I notice that only the first 5 to 10 seconds of sound show in the timeline. The rest of the file has no sound and there is a flat line in the audio channel. The camera is a Pentax compact that uses .mov file format. In VLC the audio codec is shown as PCM U 8. My question is why do I only get a few seconds of sound? Is there a way to get the sound for the whole file? I am using win 7 64 bit. I'd appreciate any help or ideas.

    Hm-m,
That is rather an odd Audio Sample Rate & Bit-Rate. Normally, one sees 24KHz, 32KHz, 44.1KHz or 48KHz, at 8-bit, 12-bit or 16-bit. The 32-bit floating point is the Conformed Audio, for precise editing, and is to be expected, however the 8KHz Sample Rate is not what I would expect for the Project. Normally, that is Conformed to 48KHz, which is the standard for DVD Audio.
When you look at the Audio Track where the problem Clip is located, and expand that Audio Track vertically (if you hover the Cursor at the juncture of the Audio Track in the Track Header, you will see the Cursor to change shape to a little = sign with arrowheads - click+drag), does the Waveform Display stop where the Audio ceases to play? If so, this sounds like the CFA & PEK files were truncated. This usually happens when the Conforming process has been interrupted.
One test that you can run is to close out of PrE, and navigate to your Media Cache folder in the Scratch Disks' location, and find the CFA and PEK files for one of the problem Audio files. They will have the same name as your Clip, but will be CFA and PEK. Those are the Conformed Audio file and the Waveform Display for the Audio in that Clip. Choose one pair for a problem Clip and Delete those two files - the CFA and the PEK. When you relaunch PrE and Open that Project, PrE will reconstruct the CFA and PEK for that Clip. Make sure to let the Conforming complete 100%, before touching the computer. There is a little progress bar at the lower-right of the GUI. Do not do anything, until it disappears. Test.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
