  • Ipod nano 6th not recognised by win 8

iPod nano 6th not recognises by PC running win 8?

Found this in another thread and it worked for me...
    Try this:
    Windows 8.1, 64bit
It appears that the 64bit install messed up the device drivers for the Apple mobilie devices connecting as USB.
I tried many things, I may have missed a step below.  But the following is what I believe was the fix - since it worked on a 2nd PC.
Make sure you are using an administrator account.  Any of them on your machine will do for the following
    a) Get Windows to restart the drivers:
        - disconnect your USB device and close ITunes
        - connect your USB device
        - if ITunes loads, close it.
    b) File explorer:
Open File explorer and browse to
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
In that folder there should be a set of files named "usbaapl64...."
right click on the one ending in "INF"
    Select Install.  It's very quick.
    remove the USB device
    c) Restart the computer.
When you login again, load ITunes before you attach your USB device.

  • HT1567 Itunes 10.6.1.7 is not recognising an Audio CD when inserted in the drive. This means I connot import any CD's. What could be wrong?

iTunes 10.6.1.7 is not recognising an audio CD when inserted in the drive. This means that I cannot import CD's. It used to work but since installing other software iTunes does not see the audio CD and will not open the drive when "eject disc" is selected from the controls menu.

Check the drive letter of your CD drive.  iTunes doesn't seem to work properly with CD drives if they are mapped to the letters A or B.  Use Disk Management tool in windows to change to a different letter and this will fix it (if this is the cause!).

  • Ipod nano is not recognised on my mac

I have a Mac and an ipod and a nano and have previously sync both -no problem. Now the nano is not recognised by the mac. it show 'do not disconnect' and charges ok but doesn't appear on the source list so i can't restore or sync. I've tried resetting, restarting and downloading latest version of itunes...nothing working

Just had the same problem. Solved it by doing a reset - Turn on the iPod, toggle the hold switch on and off, then press and hold the menu & select buttons simultaneously until the Apple icon appears. (I had to let go after 10+ seconds and press the select button again to make the logo appear.) I hit select once more to clear the logo and get to the main menu, then plugged it in to my computer. Everything's running well again, and the reset did not in any way affect the music files already stored in my iPod.

  • My iPhone 4S is not recognised by my computer when I try to sync. I am looking to upgrade, is it just easier to purchase a new one, then manually transfer data and information?

My iPhone 4S is not recognised by my computer when I try to sync. I am looking to upgrade, is it just easier to purchase a new one, then manually transfer data and information? I don't want to try syncing and backing up data to just lose it all. As the new one I plan to get is a newer model, I'm thinking it is just better to do it manually, but then I have the issue of syncing the new one to start.

    Hello Smeebo,
Thank you for asking your question! It sounds like your iPhone is not recognzied in iTunes when you connect it to back it up, or update the device. I would try the troubleshooting in either of these 2 articles depending on what operating system you have:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

    or:

  • I am suddenly not getting a text tone when receiving a text - all other sounds work fine

I am suddenly not getting a text tone when receiving a text.  All other sounds work and text tone is checked in settings.

I finally discovered that the problem is with a single text tone and all the rest work fine.  The text tone not working is one I purchased from iTunes about 2 weeks ago and it worked fine up until 2 days ago.  When the text tone is still there and it plays when I manually select it, but there is no sound when I get a text.  Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is or how to fix it?

Was a Restore one of the things tried.?  [Attach the iPad to your computer and in iTunes click on your device. On the Summary page click on Restore and go through the process. Be sure to click YES to Restore from a previous backup.]

You may have to force your iPad into recovery mode in order to restore the device since the update did not complete. This article explains how to do that.

  • Help - my iPod Nano is not recognised by windows

Hi I have recently bought a new ipod nano (8gb Aluminium case) and it is not recognised by windows. I have run through all of the trouble shooting tips (reseting ipod, reinstalling itunes, getting latest windows updates, even deleting my temp files). I have also tried all USB ports and tested them with a memory stick to make sure that they are working.
I can hear the standard windows sonic (ding-dong) when I plug in the ipod, but there is no indication of it in my computer or itunes.
    Can anyone help me here?

Have you tried putting your iPod into disk mode, then connect it to your computer?

  • External monitor suddenly not recognised

    Hi everyone,
Not sure if anyone can help me, but thought I'd try here before progressing any further. I have an 11-inch 2010 Macbook Air with an external monitor set up (Acer LCD, if it makes a difference) through a mini-display port to HDMI converter. Up until yesterday it was working with no problems, the HDMI does sound as well as video and it was very easy to set up and use.
Yesterday I tried plugging in the converter to the Air and turned the display on and I got a "Cable not connected" message on the display. I checked the plugs and restarted my Mac, but the same message came up.
The Air's screen flashes blue when the display is turned on, so the cables must be working to some extent (at least enough to recognise the display has been turned on). But the display system prefs and menu doesn't show it connected, and there's no option to turn mirroring on or anything, as there usually is.
Unfortunately I don't have any other HDMI cables or a converter to test this, but I was wondering if I can try anything else on my Mac before tracking some down. Would appreciate any help.

My Macbook Pro ran out of hard disk space, and suddenly stopped recognising my external hard drive
Hi, and welcome to the forums.
It's very unlikely these two things are related, even though they apparently happened about the same time.
As you probably know, OSX likes at least 10% of it's drive free, 15% is better, 20% optimum (although I suspect that on very large drives, you don't need quite as much free space, percentagewise).
As dechamp says, the best way to be sure the drive is dead is if another computer doesn't recognize it either. In theory, something like DiskWarrior might be able to deal with it, but it's pretty unlikely to be worth the money (about $100 for DW) if you don't already have one.
