Nano to CD for playback in My Car

Hey I would like to x-fer from my nano and library to a CD so i can listen in my car. Audiobooks and music. Tried before but could not hear anything on the auto cd player.. Thanks in Advance--- Irene

You can only burn content from your iTunes library.
To burn an audio CD, you first need to set your iTunes burning preferences to 'Audio CD'
Preferences > Advanced > Burning > Disc Format = Audio CD
Once your preferences are set as above... make a playlist in iTunes containing the content you wish to burn to the Audio CD.
After your playlist is made, select the playlist and press the 'Burn Disk' button on the bottom right corner of the iTunes screen.

Thank you. That solved the problem. So simple but it wasn't intuitive to me.

  • Nano will not work properly in my car

I have a 4th generation Nano. I just got a new car, and the car has a USB port to plug my Ipod directly into the car, and you can control the Ipod from the car's stereo.
The problem is, into every single song I play, after a few seconds, or a minute into the song, the song will stop playing, and the Ipod will switch to the next song. It always does this. I cannot find anything about it online for my car, or the car's owner's manual.
Any ideas? Or has anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

Are you burning audio CDs or MP3 CDs? If you're burning MP3 CDs, confirm that your car player can handle them; many cannot. If you are burning audio CDs, try a different brand of blank CD and see if that works better in your car.
    Regards.

  • Can the nano be set to playback in mono mode

My wife is deaf in one ear and there for cannot hear in stereo mode. Can the Nano be set to playback in mono mode. I have tried to modify a set of earphones for her, but the results are less than desirable.
    Thanks

I'm deaf in one ear too, and what I did was create the files in mono. I use the 320AAC format, which in mono, shows up as 160AAC and saves 1/2 the space on the hard drive or memory chip. SInce you already have stereo files, it's a simple matter to convert them all to mono, using iTunes. Go to the preferences and set the ripping to a mono-type format, choose all the songs in the library, and then convert them all. It might take hours for a large library, but it works fine.
I tried converter plugs but they were bulky and there's no simple way to solder the wires together in the tiny leads that go to the headphones that I use, so making mono files was my best option.

  • Where do I get a nano SIM card for my iPad which works in the USA so I can use Tom Tom app

Where do I get a nano SIM card for my iPad which will work in the USA.  I need to get on line in the car. Do I need one from AT&T  and can you get in the USA as easily as getting a sin card here.

We don't know where "here" is.
You don't need a sim card to use any navigation app. Navigation apps use GPS which is independent of cellular data.

  • How can I connect my iMac to a TV for playback of videos? My TV does not have HDMI.

How can I connect my iMac to a TV for playback of videos? My TV does not have HDMI.

You need to find out what video out you have on your iMac, and what kind of video inputs there are on your TV.
It will help to know exactly what model iMac and exactly what make/model TV you have.
Depending on the exact model iMac you have, it may have miniVGA, miniDVI, miniDisplayPort or Thunderbolt output.  Your TV may have composite, S-video, component, DVI, VGA or HDMI inputs.  Once you confirm what kind of ports your iMac and TV have, then we can probably suggest the correct cable or adapter so you can connect them to each other.

Not sure what happend there. But ATV only streams, no HD so if you leave it too long, the whole download gets lost.

  • Can someone tell me how to fix this error in 10.4.11 on a G5 Quad Core 2.5GHz Tower...A valid video device could not be found for playback. [-70017]

Can someone tell me how to fix this error in 10.4.11 on a G5 Quad Core 2.5GHz Tower...A valid video device could not be found for playback. [-70017]

That's an error reported from DVD Player I believe...
kDVDErrorMissingGraphicsDevice = -70017, // A valid graphics device is not available.
There's some conjecture it has to do with HDCP, or Video Card problems, but the only 2 cures/fixes I found were Software related, one was cured by updating the OS, another by replacing the Video kexts.
I think this error also shows up if trying to use DVD player in Safe Mode, (too much research isn't good! ).

  • Any Help For Yet Another HDCP For Playback/Netflix Problem?

I have a very complex set-up and had no problem streaming until the other night and I have tried every single solution I can find online under the sun so that is why I am posting here.
I have a Pioneer Receiver that I used a Terk Smart HDMI 3 x 1 Selector with and was able to stream Netflix with no problem.
This is how everything used to be set up:
    Pioneer Receiver
    Blu-ray IN
    HDMI OUT Terk
    DVD IN
    Panasonic DVD Recorder OUT
    OUT
    Panasonic LCD TV HDMI 1
    Terk HDMI 3 x 1 Selector
    OUT
    Pioneer Receiver Bluray IN
    Panasonic Bluray Player
    Input 1
    AppleTV (3rd Gen.)
    Input 2
    Mac Mini (2010)
    Input 3
Now here's the rub:  I also have a PS3.  I used to unplug either the ATV or Mini whenever I wanted to use it and I got tired of switching out so I bought a Monoprice 8 x 1 HDMI Selector.  The logic here being that I would have more than enough HDMI inputs to plug in everything.
When I first hooked up the Monoprice, I hooked the OUT from it into the Bluray IN on the Pioneer and then hooked all of the HDMI cables from all of the various electronics into the INputs on it.  Tested all of them to see that it autoselected whatever I had chosen and even was able to stream on NF.
This is how I have everything hooked up now:
    Monoprice 8 x 1
    OUT
    Pioneer Receiver Bluray IN
    ATV
    Input 1
    Panasonic Bluray Player
    Input 2
    PS3
    Input 3
    Mac Mini
    Input 4
    Panasonic DVD Recorder*
    Input 5
*Bluray IN  and OUT are the only HDMI slots in use on the Pioneer Receiver using this hookup.
Now all of a sudden yesterday I went to stream NF via the ATV and I got that "This content requires HDCP for playback" error.
I did everything I could think of and also tried all of the suggestions I could find on the web.  I had already switched out the HDMI cables as I had bought new ones when I got the Monoprice.  So I hooked the Terk back up thinking it would "fix" things.  No dice.  I put the old HDMI cables back on.  No dice.  I have it hooked up now with the old HDMI cables and still no dice.  I unplugged everything and let it sit thinking I could force a new HDMI handshake.  NF started streaming for 5 seconds and froze -- and then the error message.
I also have a Scientific Atlanta DVR that the ATV is plugged into that the HDMI 2 of the Panasonic TV is connected via HDMI.  The Panasonic TV isn't "old" as I think I got it in late 2009 or late 2010, as it has more than enough HDMI inputs, component, and also a PC connection -- in case someone wanted to suggest the TV wasn't capable of handling the hookups. The ATV is running the latest version of the software.
This is really frustrating since it worked with no problem from the day I got the ATV and now after upgrading the switcher to get more HDMI inputs, everything went kaput.
And I just don't know what to do.
I'm not sure if having everything being dependent upon the Panasonic TV being powered on is affecting things, but it never affected things when I was using the 3 x 1 HDMI switch.  When I wanted to use the ATV, I'd press the Bluray input on the Pioneer receiver, hit the ATV remote and it would come on.  Click into NF and voila: streaming with no problems.
Currently, I still do the same thing -- and I can listen to the radio, stream in iTunes Match on the ATV.  It's just the NF issue that's really beyond me.  The only thing I can think of to try is to maybe put the DVR in the surge protector slot so that it has to be powered on so that everything else will power up instead of the TV?
I'm hoping someone has a suggestion that involves something other than restarting/restoring the ATV, or unplugging things for 30 seconds because I have tried everything I've come across.  I just don't know what to do but I really would like to be able to use NF on the ATV because I like the fact that it plays in Dolby, and I really don't want to have to go back to the PS3 to utilize that feature.
In the meantime, I guess I will switch the DVR on the surge protector with the TV and see what happens if I change the way things power up in the chain.

I am at a loss.  I thought I had a micro USB cord but since I didn't, I wasn't able to downgrade the software.
I did a complete restore for kicks.
    This is the current setup
    ATV HDMI
    Panasonic TV HMDI 2
    ATV optical output
    Pioneer Receiver
Again, all of the other devices run through the 8 x 1 switch box which is NOT powered on to use the ATV.
I get the HDCP error whenever I try to access the following:
    Netflix
    Trailers
    Vimeo
    WSJ Live
HHL and the other sports channels
    These work fine:
    Radio
    iTunes Match
    Podcasts
    Flickr
TV Shows and Movies because I tested both watching previews and they streamed perfectly
I've changed the settings on the ATV until I'm blue in the face and this is what they are currently:
    Dolby - Auto
    Audio Output - Auto
    HDMI Output - Auto
TV Resolution - 1080p HD - 60Hz -- and yes I've had it set on both "Auto" and 720p HD - 60Hz and neither stopped the error once it started happening
All of the equipment is HDCP compliant as I checked
The cable between the TV and ATV
    The 8 x 1 switch box
Panasonic TV specs -- it is HDCP compliant as I said in my 3rd post (according to the manual)
The Pioneer Receiver (for good measure)
I have no idea of what to do other than to hope that Apple does something with the next update to restore everything, as this HDCP issue is really beyond annoying and it's clear 5.2 broke something.  In the meantime, I really am open to suggestions to try something else other than smashing the ATV with a hammer

  • DVD Studio Pro 4 Burning cd-rom, not dvd for playback on TV

    Hi there.
I completed an HD project in FCP 7, compressed in "Compressor" and now want to burn a DVD in HD in DVD Studio Pro 4.
I went into "Preferences" and made what I believe are all of the necessary changes to make this happen.
However, when it burns, it won't burn a DVD for playback in a DVD player. In fact, one of my DVD players identifies it as a CD-ROm, and sure enough, it plays in the computer, but not in a DVD player.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kevin

HD DVD is a dead format, abandoned by its developers a few years ago after losing out to Blu-ray.
However, HD DVDs will play on later model Macs and a couple of (now obsolete) models of HD DVD players that were made by Toshiba.
Normal, set-top DVD players and Windows DVD player programs have never been able to play HD DVDs. They only play DVDs, which are standard definition only. Some DVD players will upscale the output of a DVD (again, standard definition) to HD dimensions for playback on HDTVs. Some actually do a pretty good job ... some don't. But the fact remains that the source being played can only be standard definition.
So, if you want to make a disc that will contain HD content, you'll need to make a Blu-ray disc. If you want to make a DVD that will play in DVD players, you'll need to make a DVD, which again, can only be standard definition.

  • HT204291 All of a sudden, my Apple TV requires HDCP for playback. It is directly connected to my HDTV and I never had any problems so far. Apple TV  also refuses to play movies rented from iTunes. What's going on?

Why does Apple TV suddenly requite HDCP for playback?
No mirroring possible, it even refuses to play films rented from iTunes.
Apple TV linked directly to HDTV via hdmi cable?

    Hi Seraphiel07.
I have a very similar issue. Hardware involved:
Apple MacMini (Mid 2011) - OSX 10.8.2. iTunes 10.7. Home Sharing enabled.
Apple TV (3rd Generation). Home Sharing (access) enabled.
Apple MacBook Pro (15" Mid-2009). OSX 10.8.2. iTunes 10.7. Home Sharing enabled.
Apple iPad 2 (Wifi only). iOS 6
    Apple iPhone 4S. iOS 6
    All connected through:
Apple Time Capsule 8.0211n (4th Gen)
I have an iTunes library on the MacBook Pro, shared over "Home Sharing" and another (duplicate content, different library name) iTunes library on my MacMini, which is also accessed through the Apple TV.
All software is current (as of Sep 26th).
All movies are iTunes purchases. 80 in total.
All files are purchased (and home shared) under one account.
My last two iTunes purchases both HD movies on 09/17/2012 and 09/05/2012 refuse to appear on any device accessing either of the two Libraries over Home Sharing. It should be noted that every other movie (the other 78) all show up and play correctly. I therefore know it is not an issue with connectivity, otherwise I would see zero movies available.
    I have:
    1. Removed all content from each Library and re-added
    2. Upgraded the OS on the MacMini 10.8.2
    3. Tested viewing the two missing movies on other Apple devices and no luck.
    4. Turn home sharing on and off within iTunes and also on each device.
It would appear to me that the issue is with the files themselves, rather than the devices as different devices and different versions have been tested.
    All comments welcome.

  • Cant put H264 files onto my iphone or into itunes for playback?

Im using beyond TV DVR software, they released a new feature which will convert my DVR recordings into H264 mp4 files.
    ok, that sounds awesome.
so I convert them, and just import them into itunes. easy enough!
but quicktime cant play the files it creates... when I click them, I just get a solid green image, not flashing like a google search turns up solutions for, and disableing directdraw does not fix it.
but none the less I push on. Ill just put it onto the iphone and see what it does.
no dice, when I try to sync it, I get a "this file format is not supported for playback on iphone" or something like that.
    errrr ok...
well there is that fun little option in the drop down "convert selection for ipod". figure that cant hurt right?
well when that finishes I get a new file, but this one plays back with an all white screen and gives me clear audio. this one will sync to the iphone, but it plays an all black image with audio.
    so... wth.
I want to assume the file that beyond tv is creating is incorrect right? but windows media player has no trouble with it at all. if I right click on the file properties, it is mp4 H264 codec.
having this ability sounded like the best thing since sliced bread, but I cant get it to work for the life of me...

there is not a way to transfer those playlists to that itunes library from your phone, but heres an idea to help you out.
take screen shots of the playlists on your phone then when they get deleted after the sync you'll have to re-create them but at least you'll know what was in them
