Nano Video Update ????

Has anyone heard or seen any info for any updates to allow the Nano to play Video...

Actually, YES you can play video on the Nano!
YES, YES, YES.
Some 3rd party has released software that lets you play video on the Nano! Loads of limitations though, like the movie has to be a certain format and an exact resolution and have a set colour depth, but it an be done!
I think its called iPod Linux, you have to install it over the original ipod software - theres a thread on in this forum for it, just have a quick search or google it.
I dont recommend it though, and apple obviously wont endorse it, it will probly void your warranty, but its meant to be smooth good quality.
Nice to now the Nano is capable of it anyway!

My iPod nano (5th gen) will not allow me to play videos, i know i need an update but where do i find this update?
    All help is really appreciated.

No problem. Have you tried reconverting them in iTunes using iTunes built in converter? To do this, highlight each video and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version from the Advanced drop down menu. When they are finished, try resyncing the newly converted videos to see if that helps.
Other than that, I don't have to many other suggestions regarding this issue. Sorry.

  • Ipod Nano video and Ihome to go(26)/ unable to wake to music???

Have a new nano video and the Ihome 2 go model 26. Have it set up correctly and all functions work on the Ihome except wake to music, it buzzes. You can go to sleep with music but can not set it to wake to music. Contacted Ihome support and they say a fireware update is needed from Apple. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

Hi, Plugged in nano, checked software and it said no update needed. I just want to clarify iHome customer service said this is a current known problem with my iHome guess I will be emailing Apple to see if I can track down an answer. Thanks

  • Ipod nano video firmware

I think the current v1.0.2 firmware is in need of an update, as this has caused me no end of problems with my ipod nano video, causing it to shutdown on it's own and then require switch to disk mode, to restore. Trouble is, each time I get it back to v1.0.1 firmware, as soon as it's connected to iTunes, it recognises v1.0.2 is available and prompts me to install (whether I have auto update checked or not).
With v1.0.2 I also have a problem after I've added songs as the ipod just switches to a black screen with the apple logo and it can't be used. Not much use for a player bought as a present for someone.
So c'mon Apple, do the decent thing and provide a firmware update to fix this problem, as it seems I'm far from being the only one having problems going by the forums here.

Send your feedback to Apple via the appropriate link.

Also, when discussing the nano 3rd gen, it's always best to use the correct forum.

  • MAJOR PROBLEM ABOUT VIDEOS IN IPOD NANO VIDEOS!

    i neeeed help !
i added mpegs videos to iTunes Library but when i tried updating my iPod nano video , it wouldnt and it says it has to be converted so the videocan be used for the iPod and i did but when i played the videos on the iPod nano Video there was no sound .
HOW IN TTHE WORLD DID THAT HAPPEN?
anyone has answers for me pls. ?

There is no such thing as a nano video.
There is a fifth-generation, full sized iPod capable of video, but there is no nano capable of video playback.
What ipod do you have? The fact that you say it does play video indicates that it's a fifth-gen. If that's the case, what version firmware are you running? Go to SETTINGS > ABOUT to find out.
    Cheers!

  • Ipod Nano wont update firmware

    Hello,
I have a dialup connection and although, I can download video content, and the new apple itunes 7.3, I have not been able to get my ipod nano to update the firmware version from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3.
I will either get kicked out during download, or get an error message related to verification of the file.
Is there a separate way to download the file directly, or do I have to use itunes.
    thanks

In the restore instructions it says that you need to plug the iPod into a power adaptor during the second stage.
    Not really.
    Actually it says,
"iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
    * Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
    * Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models)."
You will get Restore Instruction 2.

    Juliette,
New software came out a few days ago. Make sure you are running that and it is installed on your computer and iPod...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Updating iPod's Software
    Also, see this...
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes for Windows
Finally, connect your iPod to the computer. Open "My Computer". Does it show up there? If so...
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes

  • Ipod Nano Video - Charging or not? Who knows?

Okay, since Apple can't wrap their heads around the idea that some of us don't want video (and don't want to PAY for it) but would still like an MP3 player with a decent storage capacity, I finally broke down and bought a Nano video.
Got it home, plugged it in, and the thing won't charge. Battery icon remained red even after being plugged into my mac all night. Screen says "connected,"
but there is ZERO indication of charging.
Took it back, exchanged it for another one, same deal. Changed connector cables, same deal. When plugged in initially the battery icon shows a lightening bolt, and then that goes away to leave an empty battery icon with a red sliver (traditionally means "low battery.")
    Any ideas, anyone?

So the Classic line doesn't meet your needs as well? Per gigabyte it is cheaper than a Nano and has lots more storage.
So anyway, perhaps it is your computer, since that is still the common component to both iPods. If you go back to the Apple store (or take it to work or a friend's house) see if it charges on another computer besides yours.

I get a message "The Itunes server could not be contacted, check your internet connection" when trying to check for Ipod Nano software updates. I have a 1st generation Nano and haven't updated the software for a while. My internet connection is working. Was thre a change in the internet address for NANO software updates? Do I have to reconfigure something in Itunes to point to the correct address?

What version of iTunes are you using?  The latest is 10.6.3. In iTunes, choose Help -> About iTunes to check the version number. If it's lower than 10.6.3, download the latest version from here.

  • Nano video output via headphone socket?

Can the new Nano video output to the TV via the headphone socket, like my iPod Video 80g?
    Thanks.

Trip to Apple store and Genius Bar (Genius my a**e!), where I had a 2 hour wait, 20 minutes with the Genius (I use the term lightly) to be told what I already knew, plus he thinks the headphone output is connec ted to main logic board and that will cost almost £300 for parts. Dream-on!
On the way home I purchased a £8 Toslink cable (£32 in Apple store) plugged it in and hey presto - perfect sound.
So it looks like the headphone socket is stuck in digital mode.
Well at least it's getting better. Now off to research & establish how many other folks report same issue.

I am also having this issue!
There were 3 updates available (including video) and none would work via Ovi suite, WiFi or 3.5g  so I downloaded the Nokia Software Updater from the beta site and one of the updates worked, however the Phone apps Update & Videos update both fail!
Only got this phone yesterday as I thought I would give Nokia another go! Not looking good so far Nokia!
Edit:! Had a look on the actual phone under SW Update and all 3 were still showing up!

  • Should I keep Classic or Nano video or even Both?

I have both the new 80g classic and the ipod nano video 8g. I don't know if I should keep both. I like the to use the nano when I go for a jog in the morning but I also like the classic because it holds all the music videos movies and pictures. I know for christmas I am getting the ipod Touch. That will leave me with three devices. Ipod touch has the wi-fi which is very appealing to me when I am on the hot spots or on the airport, I can just leave the other two ipods and take the ipod touch. If anybody can give me a suggestion on what to keep or reason to even have both. Thanks

I would collect them all. Get the shuffle too.

  • MacBook Pro Video Update 1.0 problem

I downloaded MacBook Pro Video Update 1.0 (Snow Leopard) and I am using Mac OS X Ver 10.6.8 however it alerts that this software is not supported on your system. I have the problem of black screen of death.  I am using an extra display. I arranged mirrors displays so I can use the computer.
    What should I do?
By the way I am in Turkey.

I went the authorized service in Ankara Turkey. They said they have to change whole screen and wanted to get 800$. Of course, I rejected. Then, they said they have a second hand display connector cable (which was the suspected piece for the problem) to replace for $80. I accepted and gave $80. Problem fixed! My computer is still working perfectly.

  • Macromedia Flash MX Professional 2004 Video Update does not work

When I import an MPEG video into Flash MX 2004 Pro, it works
every time except when I try to edit the video and create mulitiple
clips. If I try to create clips, it lets me go through the import
process, right up to when I click Finish. When I click Finish, it
just goes back to the first Import Screen (where it asks whether
you want to import the whole video or edit it first). It does not
import the video at all. This seems like it is an obvious bug. I
have tried installing the Macromedia Flash MX Professional 2004
Video Update and that does not help. I'm on a Windows XP machine
with Flash MX 2004 Pro v. 7.2. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Kurt

I'm on a Mac and don't had this problem. But I do watch for
video issues on this site and haven't seen this – I might
have missed a few, but most Flash users are on Windows so I think
it would be common if it were something wrong with Flash in
    general.
Then again, what do I know? Because the more I'm thinking
about it the more I think I might have had this problem. But I
really can't remember. And sorry to say the solution was to not use
the import function to edit my videos.
You also might want to just see if it is the format of the
file you are importing. Perhaps a different source will work
better? I'm just grasping at straws here.
If you have many of these to do and a budget I suggest
getting a third party tool like Squeeze. Otherwise if you have some
third party editor you might want to use that.
    Good luck!

  • Problem with Nano after Updating

I recently bought an iPod Nano (Model MA005LL). When I first tried to put songs into it from iTunes it seemed like it worked - iTunes recognized it and successfully transferred the files. Then I noticed that couple of purchased songs didn't make it to my Nano's Playlist. I realized that I had to update the iPod Firmware. So, I downloaded & installed the latest Updater on my PC (running Win2K).
That's when the problem happened - during the update process, both my PC and Nano froze. So, I had no choice but to disconnect the Nano and kill the updater process. Since then neither does my iTunes recognize my Nano nor does the updater.
I think my PC recognizes it because whenever I disconnect the USB chord, the PC complains that I unplugged a device without stopping it first. Also, whenever I try to open Windows Explorer, it behaves extremely slow; whenever I plug it out, explorer goes back to normal.
I have tried ALL the 5 Rs and nothing works - the updater freezes everytime I try to use it with the iPod; so I can't restore it using the updater.
Another strange thing is that when I click on About, it not only says zero Songs & Photos, it also says 0 KB for Capacity & Available. The version does say 1.2 though. Also, the Format says Unknown.
So, at this point of time, my Nano is pretty much useless. I would really appreciate if anybody could please help me fix it such that I don't need to take it back to the store.

look on page 16(Help Nano 2g update problem) and if that does not help there is a really good one that I used myself on page 20(Problem with the update) which has a really good step by step process that returned mine to perfect working condition.
