I would suggest placing the ipod into disk mode and trying the restore one more time. Make sure not to have the ipod connected to the computer when you open the updater, as you want to wait for the updater to prompt you to connect the ipod when it is ready. Once the updater asks you to connect the ipod, go ahead and connect it and give the updater a few moments to recognize that you have the ipod connected (once the updater recognizes it, the options to update or restore will become clickable.) Also, if you are connecting the ipod to a USB port on the front of your computer, try connecting the ipod to a USB port on the back of the computer as these USB ports are generally more likely to be high powered.
Here is the kbase article explaining how to place the ipod into disk mode:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
Now if you place it into disk mode and the updater is still not recognizing it or the updater freezes up, follow this article:

  • Dropdown menu on my site is not working correctly anymore

I use a CSS-based dropdown menu that has a 1 pixel white frame. In FF3.6 and in IE, Safari, Chrome it is working as dedired, but in FF4 the menu disappears as soon as I hover on the white frame. This normally only happens if I leave the area of the menu.

Problem still exists with safemode on a freshly installed 4.0b11. The installation was done in parallel to 3.6.12.
I have two sites with exactly the same css menu. The one written in xhtml 1.0 works correct, but the one written in html 4.01 has the problem. Both sites validate with no errors also for css.
When I move the mouse over the dropdown menu on my site the menu disappears when I'm exactly over the white frame.

  • My daughter's Nano isn't working correctly with ear buds

I purchased an iPod Nano for my daughter a few months ago, but didn't give it to her until last month (it was her birthday last month). Anyway, for all intents and purposes it is only 1 month old, since it hasn't been used before that time.
Suddenly she is finding that her ear buds are not working properly. If she plugs it in and rotates the connection a little bit, the sound will improve and degrade. This suggests to me that there is something wrong with the iPod Nano; am I correct about that? And if so, what do we do about it?

Have you tried using the iPod Nano with another set of headphones to see if the sound is still degraded? If the sound is still degraded it would mean that the headphone jack of the iPod Nano is defective and you should contact Apple for a repair/replacement. If it is the earbuds then I suggest contacting Apple for a replacement of a pair of earbuds, if you are within the warranty they will repair/replace any defective part.
Yes we have, and they don't work any better than the ear buds that came with the iPod Nano.
So, how do I notify Apple to get a replacement?

  • Sharing new post on Facebook,- not working correctly anymore

I use to be able to update my blog and then go to that entry and click on the " Share on Facebook" in my bookmark bar and it would automatically share it on facebook. A picture would come up and the title of the entry. But this is no longer working? I tried reseting the "share on Facebook" button, I've tried copying the link and inserting it in the "post a link" field and nothing works. It shares a long url and then when you click on it, it says:
    Looking for something on MobileMe?
We can't find the page you requested. Please make sure the URL is spelled and capitalized correctly, and try again.
I don't get it? Any help would be great!

Thanks for the pointers! I found that by adding facebook.com to the my cookies exception list, things started working again. I read somewhere else that the new Firefox does some conversions of URL's entered without www. into ones with that. Might something like that explain why facebook has always worked in the past but stopped working with the release of 14? Seems to be working fine now.

  • IPod nano no longer works correctly

I have an iPod nano and I have only just purchased it less than a month ago. Whenever it is laying somewhere not plugged in to the computer it will be a blank screen. If I press menu it will come up with a note that reads "use iTunes to restore" and than it shuts off again. It will do the same thing if I press menu again. when I connect it to my computer it makes a beep that acknoledges that is connected but won't show up on the left where it should. While it is plugged in it will say do not disconnect... and it will not stop saying that! I have tried reseting it s instructed in the manual but that doesn't have any effect. I have also tried disk mode which I don't totally understand but I tried it non the less. Anyway my question basically is how do I fix this and how could I possibly restore it via iTunes if iTunes does not recognize its connection. Please if someone knows what the problem is please respond and help me out. Thanks in advance - Skidd711

  • Photoshop cs5 not working correctly anymore

'm running windows 7, and am using PS CS5. It has started developing a few problems that are becoming very troublesome. My system is 64-bit running intelcore i5 2320 3.00 gz with 6gb ram. It's a Dell which is probably the main problem to begin with, but here goes.
    The first problem:
It won't open any secondary files on the first try. When it doesn't, I have to scroll through folders, then try to re-open the file. Major headache. On my preferences under performance, "Open GLdraw" is not checked.
    The second problem:
It often won't let me make any image adjustments on a file, or on a layer unless I close the program and restart.
New problem: saving files in an unrecognized format. I usually can recover some if I open them with paint, but I find this ridiculous.
Anybody have any of these problems, or know of a fix other than re-installing photoshop?
    Thanks!

No, didn't work. It's back to it's same old tricks. Won't open a file from another folder on the first try, or make image adjustments without restarting PS. I suspect Extraterrestrial intervention.

  • Multi-touch trackpad is not working correctly anymore

My multi-touch trackpad is not working - it stops working after the first 10 seconds.
    It is since today.
After reboot it works for the first 10 seconds - then it is like it needs to have a few seconds for reaction.
Any idea for the permanent blocking of the cursor?

    cany_de

That's really bizarre! I've been experiencing the same problems. Today my three/four finger multitouch gestures stopped working altogether! Nothing seemed to resolve the problem (restart, shut down, etc).I did however follow your advice of creating a new user account and logging in to see if multitouch works...low and behold, it worked! I then logged off and signed back into my primary user account and multitouch continued to work! This must be a software issue (I'm guessing). I just deleted the temporary user account and everything seems to be working fine. I set up a Genius Bar appointment for tomorrow - I'll see if they have any further suggestions.
    Thanks!

  • Lightroom: The upload to flickr service is not working correctly anymore

    Hi!
i have the newest version of 5.2 installed.
i have some automated virtual folders for uploading to flickr.
in former times, when i changed one of the pictures and pressed "publish", the pictures which were already online have been deleted and uploaded again (replaced).
now i have a lot of dublicates on flickr.
is there already a fix, or is this problem known?
    thanks & best regards
    jens

    1. I don't know.
    2. Maybe somebody else does.
    3. If I were you, I'd try Jeffrey Friedl's Flickr plugin. Why?
    1. It may not have the same problem.
    2. If it does, he'll be able to give you the straight scoop and/or fix it in a matter of hours or days, instead of weeks or months...

  • Touchpad doesn't work correctly

My touchpad isn't working correctly anymore.
i don't know if this is due to hardware or software but i will explain the problem and maybe someone can help me.
the pad is working correctly, so i can move the mouse, but when i try to push the touch pad it doesn't work anymore. i've already activated the touch option so that i can still whithout a usb mouse.
    But please someone help me

If the click function is working with the tap, but not by physically clicking the touch pad, it is more than likely a hardware failure. Take it to the apple store for a diagnosis.

  • Filters not working correctly

We have the strange situation, that filters in calendar views are not working correctly (anymore?).
If i set up a filter to search for my name as attendee, teaming still shows all entries instead of only just mine. This behavior applies to customized and standard calendar views.
Filters for (customized) file folders still work as expected.
    Any ideas?

  • Remote does not work correctly after update

    Hello,
    the subject explain it already:
After upgrading to 2.3 the apple remote does not work correctly anymore:
I need to push the buttons twice, and than atv is only reacting sometimes.
    Any ideas?
    BR
    Frank

Same problem here. First, I thought it was the Apple remote's battery. I replaced that and the problem persisted. I then used my digital video camera to verify that the remote was actually transmitting infrared, it was. In frustration, I tapped the buttons rapidly while pointing at the Apple TV. The Apple TV responded. The next button press it failed to respond. I tapped rapidly again and it finally responded. After many many rapid presses, while pointing directly at the Apple TV, it finally began responding to all presses. Once I'd regained control (I thought) I unpaired and re-paired the remote. Everything continued to work. At that time I also saw that I could "learn" another remote. So, I set up my Samsung TV remote. Sweet. Until the Apple TV went into screensaver mode again and I had to go through the same rapid button press sequence... with either the Apple remote or my learned Samsung remote. Conclusion, since the Apple TV will become fully responsive after the rapid button press sequence, it is certainly a software related problem.

  • Ipod nano doesnt work correctly

I have already boutgh the new ipod nano 7 generation, it works correctly, but when I transfer the music into it, the multitouch pad doesnt respond, and it works slower.

Looks like the battery is broken.
I would give it back to apple for a new one.
If you have an apple store next to you, bring your ipod to them, because that should save you a lot of time.

  • Video iPod Nano doesn't work when plugged in anymore

As of recently, whenever I plug my Video iPod Nano into my Hi-Fi the screen locks up. The music still plays through the Hi-Fi, and I can control the volume via the unit however the screen completely is frozen, and unresponsive to any movement on the clicker. It worked fine before, and this now a recent happening, and I have a feeling the latest update to the iPod Nano knocked it out.

I'm not not sure why this question is flagged as "answered".
I'm experiencing exactly the same behavior. If my nano (3G) is put into my HiFi while in play mode, it will continue playing through the HiFi, but the nano screen will freeze and its controls will become unresponsive. Only the HiFi volume can be controlled via the HiFi top buttons. Ditto for the remote - only the volume controls function (although the HiFi green LED responds to all remote commands as normal).
If the nano is inserted into the HiFi in menu mode, it just remains unresponsive. When taken out of the HiFi dock, it will invariably remain unresponsive for 30-40 seconds, then suddenly light up and return to normal.
In fact, my nano (3G) has always acted this annoying way with our HiFi - which continues to work flawlessly (extra menues and all) with the sundry older iPod models that we own.
Yes, I have tried resetting and restoring the nano (now at firmware version 1.1) and the HiFi no avail.
I'm curious to learn whether anyone has actually gotten a nano (3G) to work properly with a HiFi.
P.S. Great product the HiFi - can't for the good of me figure out why Apple discontinued it... It's truly adding insult to injury if this thing of beauty no longer works properly with the newer iPods.

  • 1st Gen iPod touch not working correctly?

    I have a 1st generation 8GB iPod Touch. It's not working correctly.
My biggest problem is that, unexplaiably, certain areas of the screen don't seem to register touch anymore. There is a sort of "L" shape on the left and bottom edges of the screen that won't register touch, making it impossible to move applications to the previous page on the home screen and making it hard to use the keyboard/buttons while in portrait mode. It's extremely frustrating to try to change the volume while playing a song, as I now have to either put the iPod in sleep mode then double tap the home button or flip it to cover flow and double tap the home button to do it.
    http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e140/Vipershark/IMG_0001.png
(Highlight the image to see it better.)
This is a screenshot of the working/non-working areas that I made using the Whiteboard application. The white area that you see (excluding the little half circles of black which are extended brush strokes and not actually working areas) is the area that doesn't work. I can't seem to figure out why it happened, as I've never dropped or otherwise damaged it. It just happened one day, and I don't know why.
But I can't fix it. I've tried everything. Upgrading (I'm now running iPhone OS 3.0 which still didn't fix the problem.) didn't work, restoring didn't work, deleting everything and restoring from factory settings didn't work.
I'm also having a few other problems as well, though they're not as bad. My home button seems to stop working sometimes and sometimes the entire screen witll stop registering touch until I put the iPod to sleep and turn it back on. It also seems to go a lot slower than usual.
My iPod is less than a year old. Can you help?

    Vipershark,
I had a very similar problem this past weekend with my 1G 8GB iPod touch. But with me, just the left side of the screen wasn't registering my touch. I could still access the bottom section, which you cannot.
The good news for me is that I fixed it and I hope it works for you as well. What fixed it for me was resetting all my settings. To do this, go to the settings icon, then click on general, and then on the very bottom is reset. Choose "reset all settings."
Apparently this is different than a restore through iTunes, which you tried. I also tried that earlier and it did not help.
Of course, the reset solution I used relies on you being able to access all of the correct buttons, so I hope you can!
Please let us know if this works for you. If not, since it is less than a year old, it is still under warranty. Contact Apple and see what they can do.
