Nano will not play certain playlists

I've downloaded several playlists to my Nano. Most play fine. A couple of them don't play--the titles show in order on the screen as though I were scanning the list. The playlists work fine on the computer. I've tried reinstalling the lists, but they still won't play. Does anyone have any ideas about this?
Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   1GB RAM

Jeff:
Your link didn't help, but I did find part of the problem. The playlists that won't play are in AAC format. The ones that will play are in AIFF. When I imported the songs that were originally in AAC as AIFF, they worked. The only problem I'm having now is that when I deleted files to make room for the larger AIFF files, the nano doesn't recognize that the files have been deleted.

  • Creative MediaSource will not play certain MP3

I have a Creative Audigy 2 NX with a remote that I really want to be able to use. Programs such as GIRDER, WinLIRC, and uICE do not support the RM-500 remote control.
I can't figure out how to control the remote beyond editing and creating key files that send ASCII commands, but the problem with that is I cannot control programs that are not currently acti've. In other words, I cannot control winamp if I'm playing a game with my remote, which is what I want to do. The KEY files are structured as this:[KeyEvent690 etc]KeyName=whateveryouwantdisplayedNotification=- or 2 or 4KeyEventRemap=this is the important partHandleByApp=i don't know what this doesAnyway, if I set notification to -, I can send ASCII commands-- BUT these will not send to programs not currently on top. If I set notification to 2, as Creative did in their Winamp .x key file, I could control the program even if it is not on top-- BUT I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE KeyEventRemaps NUMBERS SHOULD BE. I cannot find this information, and I have tested as far as I am capable of doing manually (tested numbers through 500 MANUALLY).So what I want to be able to do is use my remote to control winamp, but that is impossible. And Creative MediaSource will not play streaming audio (for God knows why...). So what I decided to do was record to an MP3 player with a third party program and play that MP3 in the Creative MediaSource software (the built-in recorder will NOT work, as I cannot structure that into a playlist nor can I play the recording media nor can I minimize the program and mute the feedback-- I can only record if I'm playing, and this doesn't work). The first problem I encountered was several programs would not output MP3s that were playable as they were being recorded, however I finally did find one. This program, 3aLab iRadio, allows the MP3 to be played back WHILE simultaneously being recorded. The only problem is that this the Creative MediaSource software will NOT play the mp3. Out of the 5 different MP3 players I tested, ONLY the Creative MediaSource software would not playback the MP3 as being written. I cannot figure this out, and I am at a loss as to what to do next. I realize that Creative won't support streaming audio with their player, MediaSource, but what I like to do is listen to streaming internet radio as an item on my mp3 playlist in winamp. I wish to be able to control this with my remote, but as I cannot find ANY WAY out there to control my remote as I wish without further information, this is a dead end. My alternati've is to use the Creative software for which the remote was designed to work, but unfortunately this does not support streaming internet radio nor does it support MP3s that are being written to. This is driving me insane.
What I want to be able to do is have a playlist that I control with my remote, with the first item on the list being internet radio, the 2nd and such on down being MP3s. In winamp, this is doable, as well as in Windows Media Player, and most MP3 players out there. Since I cannot do this in Creative's software, I need a workaround alternati've. PLEASE.
So, in conclusion, is there anyone out there who can either tell me how to control my remote directly by identifying what the notification=2 keyeventremap=configuarions are, give me a program like girder however which supports the RM-500 remote, or tell me how to get MP3s that are being written to (aka incomplete) to play in the Creative MediaSource software?
Thank you very much for your time.

  • IPod Classic will not update certain playlists

I have a 120GB iPod Classic running software 2.0.1, and I cannot get it to update some playlists. Some will have a different album artwork than in iTunes, and the couple that I really care about are in reverse order.
I tried creating new playlists of the same albums with slightly different names, but they still show up in reverse order on the iPod, which doesn't work so well for a story.
Last nigth I got so frustrated that I restored my iPod to try to get it to work, but still the same playlists are showing up in reverse order.
I have tried restarting my iPod, reseting it, restoring it. I have even run diskwarrior on my iPod, and have tried trashing the com.apple.iPod.plist, to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas, or am I SOL?

    Update!
This is what I did to fix both the skipping songs problem and the iPod verifying forever & not able to restore problem (because of iTunes 9):
    a) I used Disk Utility to reformat my iPod while in Disk Mode using the instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363?viewlocale=en_US
    and here:
    http://www.methodshop.com/gadgets/ipodsupport/erase/index.shtml#backup
    b) Do not unplug your iPod after reformatting (mine showed up as a firewire disk) - simply launch iTunes ( I went back to 8.2) and follow the Restore instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339
iPod is recognized, syncs and doesn't skip songs anymore after that miserable experience with iTunes 9!!!

  • My iMac will not play certain DVDs after upgrading to OS X Mavericks

I bought my iMac about 2 years ago, it worked fine, no problems until a few months ago, i upgraded to OS X Mavericks because it came up on app store updates and it was free so i upgraded. Ever since then it is very picky about which DVDs it plays, some it accepts straight away with no hassle, others it tries to read for a while until eventually ejecting. I have looked in other discussions but there isn't a solution that i've read that works. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I have just had the same problem with my iMac and after upgrading to Mavericks my iMac would not wake without pressing the power off button and re-booting.
Anyway, I have since done a complete new install on my iMac and have gone 5 days without an issue with the iMac not waking.  It was a bit of a pain to do but my own view so far is that the problem is linked to the upgrading of the OS instead of a clean install.
My iMac now flies with a new OS installed instead of an upgrade.

  • Nano will not sync my playlists

I had to free some space because I didn't have enough so I unchecked many songs. Now none of my playlists will sync.

Also, as an update to the earlier post, I've tried the "5 R's" to attempt to fix the issue including the reboot and the restore options with no results.

  • IPod Nano will not play through Arcam rDock

My third generation iPod Nano works fine with a very cheap docking station that came free with it when I bought it. I now have a new Arcam Solo with the rDock and although all the track information is coming across to the Arcam Solo there is no sound at all. I've tried connecting a tape deck through the same leads and that works with the Arcam. I've also tried using three versions of the iPod Nano software released since I bought the Nano and it doesn't work with any of them. But when I took the rDock back to the shop they tried several other iPods/iTouch with the Arcam rDock and they all worked. Furthermore my Nano didn't work with other products in the shop by Yamaha etc - but back home it still works fine with the 'free' docking station. Any ideas?

I think iTunes should offer you an upgrade. However, when i ve upgraded my ipod nano (1st gen), all the songs have gone. Memory remained full as if there were about more that a hundred songs, yet there were 0 songs left. I had to restore it. So, be careful

  • In an iPod Nano 6 songs will not play in A-Z order.

I have over 100 songs in one playlist.  This concerns an iPod Nano 6.  The songs are in alphabetical order on my Nano.  The songs will not play in alphabetical order and skips around.  How can I corredt this problem?

It's not a "problem," if the iPod is set to shuffle.  On page 21 of the 6th gen nano's manual
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1551/en_US/iPod_nano_6thgen_User_Gu ide.pdf
find the shuffle button on the Now Playing screen (it looks like two arrows crossing).  Tap it to toggle between shuffling the current song list and playing it in order.

  • Certain music videos will not play in iTunes.  The music plays fine but not the video.  No picture.

Certain music videos will not play in iTunes.  The music plays fine but not the video.  No picture.  Same with the iPod.  Other videos in the library play fine. Help.

Regular playlists vs smart playlist does not make a difference. What I noticed is that some videos create this behavior and some not. I created 2 videos and 2 music playlists, one with 2 songs and 2 videos (that I encoded myself with Handbrake). Another list with 2 videos and 2 songs, videos encoded with Handbrake, but that I noticed they triggered the behavior. The first playlist played fine, with no problems. The second one, created the problem. When I look at the video, it is the same type of video (bit rate, audio channels, etc...) I don't see why it would do that.
Later I will test: playing those videos in question and then selecting songs to see if they play.

  • My generation 6 Ipod nano will not let me download songs from my library to my playlist if they are on the cloud. How do i get the songs on my playlist?

My generation 6 IPOD Nano will not let me put songs on my playlist from the library. A message comes up saying it has to be downloaded from the cloud. I do I bypass this?

If the songs are not in your iTunes library, download them as indicated here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.  Then sync them to your iPod.

I opened i Tunes on my mac and while i see the songs in some of my playlists they will not play. The computer says the song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it? When i do it won't play.

You will need to locate where you itunes library is and then relink one of the songs, itunes will do the rest. So if your itunes library is on an external hard drive or something like that. When you get the error message click yes you would like to locate it. then navigate to the external hard drive where the itunes libray is and locate that particular song. Once you have linked one, itunes will ask if you would like it to locate the rest, click yes and it will find the rest of the files if they are in the same location.

  • Itunes 6; Playlists will not play

I recently upgraded to Itunes 6.0; looks like a mistake.
My playlists will not "play"; after the first song plays, by double-clicking a song on the playlist, itunes stops playing once that song is finished. It does not matter whether it is set to repeat song or repeat playlist; it simply stops after one song.
Any help will be appreciated! I have a christmas party coming up and I desperately nneed Itunnes to work properly!

It may not seem obvious, but are the songs 'checked'?
Unchecked songs play when doubleclicked, but iTunes will stop when the song finished.
You can 'check' (and uncheck) all songs in a playlist at once by command-clicking on a checkbox.
    Does this help?

This might sound weird, but here's an idea which worked for me re music that was newly added to itunes and showed up in my ipod but wouldn't play - I simply played the tracks in itunes first, just a second of time or so will do it, not the whole track, then connect the ipod and sync again and this time they played - hope this helps.
