Nano won't accept my mp3s? Very Baffling

So I got a new nano tonight and hooked it up to the computer. I've been using the iphone for a while now and I'm getting to be pretty good at transferring stuff (not that it's that hard) and so I figured the nano should be a peice of cake. It accepted a podcast and then 4 mp3s, but after that, it decided that's all it's going to take and I simply cannot add more music. I select the files in itunes and drag them over to the nano and they just hang there. they simply refuse to be added, no matter how many times I try. I guess it's possible that I got a dud unit, but does anyone out there have idea what I'm doing wrong, or if there's a way around this? There isn't much point in having a 16 gig player if it can only hold 5 songs, etc.
Thanks in advance for any info anyone may have, I really appreciate it.

Do you have the latest version of iTunes? Did you get those songs off of iTunes, or another source? Don't forget to try the 5 R's in your Nano and see if that helps any: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/ipod5gen/#
Hope this helps!

  • IPod Nano won't accept new songs

When I try to add new songs to my iPod Nano in iTunes it LOOKS like they get added. I can see them on the iPod, both at the top-level and in whatever playlist I put them in, and I can even PLAY them from the iPod in iTunes.
But once I disconnect the iPod from the PC they're gone from the iPod - they're not in Songs or in any playlist. The only sign that I did anything is that Info shows the amount free space decremented by the size of the songs. So they're taking up space on the iPod but they're not visible.
If I reconnect the iPod to iTunes it doesn't show them either (and it fixes the available space discrepancy, too).
FWIW I currently have 291MB of free space, and 314 songs on my 2GB iPod Nano, PC is Win XP.
    Thanks in advance!

    > I'm sorry that there doesnt seem to be a better
solution unless the post above applies :)
Reloading the the songs seems like reloading the whole OS on a PC just because one DLL or Registry entry is bad or replacing a car engine because of a blown head gasket.
Right now I have an Ipod with lots of songs on it that plays just fine. It just won't accept new songs. What if I dump everything to my PC, blow-everything-away, and try to reload it and it won't load ANY SONGS? I'm 4000 miles from home, so then I'm really stuck, with no tunes! From an engineering standpoint this approach just doesn't make sense to me. This is my first Apple product - are they all like this (i.e., if something acts up start over from scratch)?
When I have my iPod connectd to my PC I can see all kinds of system files in iPod_Control\Device. Aren't there any diagnostics we can run on those to simply solve the problem?

  • My Nano won't accept my radio interview

I have an 8-minute radio interview that shows up in my iTunes library, but won't jump to my Nano. I've dragged it, updated, etc., but it still won't show up in Nano. Any answers?
    Thanks!

    What format is the file?
Can you add it to a playlist and then sync the playlist to the iPod?

  • I recently bought a 2008 mac pro which came with leopard 10.5. I can't load any new programs because it calls for a password, but it won't accept it. I bought new snow leopard 10.6.3 but I can't load it for the same reason. How can I completely reboot.

Help. I recently bought a 2008 Mac Pro from Mac of all Trades. It came with Leopard 10.5 installed. When I set initially started the computer, I followed the instructions on the screen. I was asked to set up a password which I did. Since I'm very forgetful and not too tech savy, I wrote it down as I typed it in. I first went to install Office Mac 2011 but when it asks for a password, it won't accept the one I set up. I was told that if I bought the new Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and installed it, that it would reset everything. Well, it won't allow me to load it without the password. I am new to Apple - this is my first. I have always been able to "reboot" a computer with discs but I'm not sure how to do this one. Is there a way to do it without the password and reset everything? Could somone please email me
    Thank You. David Moore

If you don't have original install disks for your Mac, you can order replacements disks directly from Apple at a nominal cost. The original install DVDs are required to reset the password.
If you have no data on your drive that you want to keep, you can boot up from the OSX Snow Leopard disk and install OSX SL.
Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and hold the C key during startup. The Mac should boot from the CD/DVD drive into the installer.
Follow the prompts, erase the disk and install OSX Snow Leopard.

  • 1st Generation iPod nano won't sync

I've had my first generation iPod nano since April of 2006, and I've only had pretty minor problems with it.
Last year I hooked up my iPod to a new computer, and synced my music just fine. The next day when I tried to add new songs, it deleted my entire library. I restored the factory settings and bought new songs.
Last week I used my sister's external hard drive to put some of her music on my iPod, and it accepted them and kept working fine. A few days ago I tried to add more music from her xHD onto my iPod, and ended up with an error message like this:
"your iPod is corrupted and needs to be either restored to factory settings, or disconnected and reconnected."
I removed and re-connected my iPod, and it deleted all the songs I had acquired off of the xHD. Now when I try to add music it says, "Attempting to copy to the disk has failed. Unknown error occurred (-69).
How can I add more music to my iPod? I really don't want to reset my iPod just because it has so much valuable music and it's already cost me so much to acquire this much. It's only synced with one computer, and unfortunately my computer doesn't have a CD burner.
    PLEASE HELP!

Is your sisters xHD connected to your PC permanently? I suspect not, and I also suspect that your iTunes install isn't set to copy the files over when you add new music to iTunes.
You need to go into your iTunes settings and tell it to keep your music library organized ( it will copy all the music to your default directory) and to copy music when adding to your library.
Otherwise it just makes a pointer to where the music is when you add it, and if that is an external hard drive it won't be able to sync when that drive isn't connected.
You don't need to burn to back-up your music - resetting your Nano won't delete the music from your hard drive. But, you should copy it to either an xHD or another location on your HD as a temporary measure.

  • What a nightmare, Serial Number is not being accepted. try the numbers on the discs, Yes I legally bought and own it,  and it won't accept it.

Final Cut Studio, I just got a new imac and transfered contents from prior computer. And Final Cut Studio opens to the licesning window, and it won't accept the SN. It was workign on prior computer fine.  But it will not accept the upgrade, or orginal SN.  What is a person to do? How can a consumer use the software that is blocked that they legally paid for because it is not recogining the SN, yes it's spelled correctly and it's not a zero versus an "0".

Thanks, but the conditions on that page are very unrealstic. The Customer as to find a reciept from 3 years ago? With Purchase Date and invoice, heck have you been to apple store, oh we can just email the receipt to you. Well how do you search that years later, Not an option! So that doesn't work.
Apple Store onlne, Does not list software past 18months on their website. How inconvenient.  So that option is null too.  I did register it so I will try and call the Apple Sales Support tomorrow, as they are not open currently.  A lot of work to get a product to work that is legally purchased. This is why piracy so attractive.   Because when You play by the rules and buy software and many many hoops to jump through. We shall see but I am sure the phone number will ask, "oh did you buy some apple support for this?" well we can't help you unless you pay.
The solution is to have the software be able to be installed with valid software, and/or have an online access that shows your SN, and allows you to cancel or regenerate a code.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • I have a iPhone 5 and mini ipad which I bought unlocked in the UK. I have just moved to singapore and have been told the iPhone won't accept a sim here as the phone is locked to the UK. Any ideas how to unlock. Will this be the same for my ipad?

I have an iPhone 5 and mini ipad which I bought in the UK Unlocked. I have just moved to Singaporen and have been told that my iPhone won't accept a sim as the phone is locked to the UK. Any ideas how to unlock as apple say they can't do it.  Will I have the same problem with my ipad?

Unless you purchased the iPhone direct from Apple in the UK and paid full price either on line or In an Apple Store then it will be locked to a UK Carrier and only that carrier can arrange unlocking
It is unlikely that the iPad is similarly locked as most are sold carrier free unless specifically purchased from a UK carrier as part of a packaged deal involving a subsidy on the price of the iPad ( not very likely but they do exist )

Java install won't accept <Ok>?? Desperate for help??
I've decided that I'm going to develop my Rails applications in Linux and keep hitting a BRICK WALL every time I try to install NetBeans or Java. I download all of the packages and come to a text screen that says "Package Configuration" and then "Configuring sun-java5-bin" and then it asks you to read the agreement and there's an <Ok> at the bottom. I can't get through this and everytime it fails my 'package manager' goes bonkers and I have to reload the Ubuntu Gutys Gibbon operating system AGAIN!!!
I push ENTER and type in "yes" and "Ok" and there is no response.
I've loaded this operating system FIVE TIMES NOW and the bottleneck is very frustrating as I can't program in a graphics environment without Java.
I joined this forum just to ask this question and would be grateful for a reply at [email protected]

i upgraded to OS 6 on my iPhone 4 and now it won't accept my password

    Hello Nikmuz,
It sounds like your screen is either black so it looks like it is not on, or it is just plain not turning on at all and it is also not being recognized in iTunes. I would recommend the followng troubleshooting from this article to help you determine whether that is the case or not, named:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • Won't accept new password for appleID when trying to access my iCloud

I keep trying to access my iCloud on my mac but everytime I type in the password, it says wrong password for my appleID and then I reset my password and it still won't accept the new one.  I have done this many times and still can't get access to icloud.  This all started when I downloaded Mountain Lion.  Someone please help.  I have an imac 10.8.2, my software is up to date.  Oh, I am not very computer savy so any help in lay mens terms or the idiots guide to apple would be greatly appreciated.

  • Mavericks won't accept my password and I can't authenticate any actions

Following my recent mishap (https://discussions.apple.com/message/25466460#25466460), I successfully reinstalled Mavericks on my MacBook Pro.
Here's the new problem. It won't recognize me as the administrator. I'm the only account in my laptop, and when I try to authenticate any changes in the system preferences, I type my admin account and password, but it won't accept it! The password hint even shows up, but it still won't accept my password!
What really bothers me is that whenever the window opens, the Name: part is empty. Before, my account name is automatically there, and all I need to do is to enter the password! I am super super worried right now, because I don't want to reinstall Mavericks again.
    Thanks!
P.S. On a side note, I was not able to oversee the completion of the reinstallation. I was out during the last few hours it was being reinstalled.

    more details about my problem:
following the reinstallation, I just wanted to check if the system file I had messed around with (the one mentioned in http://idevicedailys.com/os-x/howto-use-candybar-os-x-mavericks/) was still okay. But this shows up:
I tried using other sudo nano commands like sudo nano /etc/hosts but the same result happens. Please, I am super super desperate!

  • Won't accept my administration password nor password hint

    Hi here,
Maybe this already happened before to someone, but I bought a new macbook pro and copied all the information from my previous macbook through timecapsule. When finished it asked me for my password. I typed it in several times but it did not accept it. Then it asked me for my password hint and typed that one in. Still it does not accept it. I am sure I typed the correct password and password hint, but it just won't accept. Is there a way to solve the problem? It took me a couple of hours to transfer everything and now I'm trying it all over again (waste of time). Hopefully someone can help me...not a technical guy here but not stupid either. But please use clear information please :-)
I'm stuck here with a brand new laptop and cannot use my old files because of some stupid refusal of the correct password I use for years already.
    Thanx in advance!
    Cheers :-)

    Thank you  OrangeMarlin
Well I got to manage to change the password but freaked out when I saw that the timecapsule copied my Guests computer instead of my previous Macbook information. How can I make a clean reinstall again as if I used this Laptop for the very first time. And yes there's Lion installed on it.
Hope someone can give me some assistance.
    Thanx
