Nano wont charge from vhf transmitter

Hi I have a 3G nano. It charges fine attached to the computer.
I bought a griffin itrip with the car 12V to mini USB adapter to power the itrip and nano.
The itrip will charge every other ipod I have tried EXCEPT my nano.
I have swapped the itrip and the power adapter, still charges every other ipod (all generations) except mine.
Does the 3g nano need a higher power input or is there some other problem. How have other people got on with nano and itrip?
Thanks

Newer iPods are now like some other newer USB chargeable devices out there. It used to be you just had to give them +5V and Ground on the USB pins and they would charge, end of story. So most USB chargers only have the two power pins hooked up and the two data pins are open circuits.
Now, many devices require specific configurations of the data pins as well before they will charge. Sometimes the pins are pulled high (+5V) or low (grounded) or biases somewhere in between. I guess these devices determine what charging rate to go with depending on the input it sees on those data pins. But if those data pins are not hooked up, rather than just defaulting to some slow, safe, charge rate, they don't charge at all. Very frustrating indeed.
I have seen this same thing with other devices like my daughter's cell phone which uses USB but won't charge off a generic charger.

Is it not charging at all? Did you try to reset? If YES to both, request for a replacement of the ipod. Battery or the unit itself is defective. Cheers!

  • Iphone 6 wont charge from macbook pro

Hello, i usually charge my iPhone 6 from my Mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro, lately the phone just wont charge from the macbook, i tried different cables but it still wont work.
The iPhone charges from the wall adapter with the same cable but my Macbook doesn't.
I tried restarting both the iPhone and the macbook, which didn't help..
Anyone have any idea on how to fix this issue?

iPhones require their own charger which came with it because the computers' USB ports do not supply enough power to charge the phone's battery.

  • Phone wont charge from computer

my  iphone 4 wont charge from my computer and also i cant get to my pix and videeos cause its not picking up on my computer

Does it charge with the wall charger? If so either your computer has a problem or you are using a USB hub.

  • Nano wont charge properly

my nano will download songs and update but as soon as the update is done the nano stops charging, and it wont charge at all unless you are updating. it keeps dying on me
    please help
      Windows 2000

The first thing they tell you to do in cases like these is to run down your battery to around 5-10%, then recharge fully. Do it twice to make sure.
Remember that, if you leave the cable to sync and recharge, the USB port may actually lose power over time if you leave it in too long. For that reason, charge from a wall plug, if possible.

Do you have service pack 4 installed on your windows? If not you need to get that downloaded and installed from microsoft.
To view which service pack that you have installed, right click on My Computer (either the icon on your computer desktop or in your windows start bar) and then left click on "properties." Your service pack information should be displayed in the window that comes up.

  • Nano wont charge or connect with USB but will with firewire.

My nano has been acting CRAZY. When I hook it up to the firewire charger it charges, but of course it wont sync. It holds the charge fine. If I hook it up with the normal charger it does NOTHING. It wont charge or connect to iTunes. What did I do? Also, I use the same cable to do my iPhone. It worked great for both. Then it quit for the nano.

    Well,
You probably didn't have iTunes open (if that's where it syncs from).
If that' right, then when you want to charge or sync from your iPod, make sure iTunes is open.
This should help, but if you already did this, I'm sorry. I have no advice.

  • Nano wont charge

I bought a used ipod nano 3generation. My laptop windows vista. wont charge ipod and say device not recognized. Any help on this please. should i just take it back.

    This might help you out:
    http://www.everythingusb.com/usb2/faq.htm
It provides a description of USB 2.0 and how to tell if you have that version installed.
    Or if you prefer Microsoft:
    http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/bus/USB/USBFAQ_intro.mspx
I believe (I could be wrong) that the iPod requires the USB 2.0 port as it provides 500 mA of power. The older USB 1.1 can provide anywhere from 100mA to 300mA of power - enough to charge the iPod but not very quickly. USB ports built into keyboards are pretty useless as they can only supply about 40mA of power at most.

  • Nano wont charge or recognize by USB, but will charge by firewire?

I have an iPod Nano. Its not that old cause I have had this issue for a while and I cant really use it cause its got a lot of old music on it. Anyway. I use the same USB cord to charge my iPhone. It is actually the same cable that came with the nano that I use for the phone. The Nano will charge by firewire, but it wont do anything via usb. Is it garbage? If so, why will it still play?

    Have you seen these?
    iPod battery doesn't charge.
USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date.
iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.
    Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod</font color</a>.
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes.
iPod does not appear in iTunes.
Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Crackling and buzzing sound? Kind of worrying as this may indicate hardware malfunction. In that case you may need to take it to an Apple Store (if there is one) to let them check on it.
Can you borrow or get an iPod USB AC charger and use that to try to recharge the iPod?

  • I pod nano wont charge

    Merry christmas all,
Subject says it all. Just got an ipod nano 4 gig for christmas and it wont charge. Tryed my sons usb lead that works for his nano 2 gig on the same computer and that wont charge my ipod either. Ipod not recognised by computer, wont turn on, cant reset, cant do anything. It is as dead as the turkey in my oven.
Anyone have a clue what is wrong or what to do?
    Many thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
What do you mean by it won't charge your iPod either? Is it only charging the 2GB nano?
    Try going through these:
    iPod Doesn't Charge
    iPod Won't Turn On
    iPod Won't Wake Up
    Merry Christmas!

  • HT1751 120gb ipod wont charge from my 12v  but ac only

why wont my 120gb ipod charge from my 12v  but only from ac? my old 60gb classic charges from both

Originally, iPods were charged through a firewire conenction, which is 12volts.
The next iPods could be charged either through firewire or USB (which is 5 volts). Newer - and by definition the latest iPods - only charge through the USB line. There is no 12 volt facility on newer iPods.
So your 60GB iPod (which I suspect is actually a iPod 5th generation {not a Classic}, available from October 2005) will be from that middle group, able to use either firewire or USB to charge. The 120GB iPod Classic was introduced in Septemeber 2008 and by that time, Apple was no longer using firewire for charging.

  • HELP! My 3GS wont charge from the mains or be recognised by my computer?!

    Hi,
So Im having some similar problems with my Iphone 3GS (16g, white) Literally this afternoon, I noticed it needed a charge, so I tried plugging it into the usual wall socket in which I use, I then noticed it hadnt started its charge. So I moved it to another power point in my house and luckily it charged, so I left it for an hour to charge up and then took it off charge and continued to use it as normal. A few hours later, just before I head out to work I go to top up the charge as I am going to be out for a while. I plug it into numerous sockets in the house and absolutely nothing happens, it dosent recognise the charger. So I decide to try hooking it up to my laptop, I plug it into the usb and instead of the usual itunes startup and sync it does windows displays a bubble saying 'unknown device' and then another one afterwards saying something along the lines of 'the device has malfunctioned'. I try turning it off and on again, I have even tried the reboot/reset thing holding sleep and the home button but again it will not charge or be recognised by my laptop.
I know its not a problem with the power lead as I have turned the phone off and inserted the lead and the phone recognises it by bringing up the apple logo from the black off screen and turning the device on but it will not charge from there at all.
Any help at all??? Ive literally only had it 5 months, I very rarely plug it into my computer probably once a monthish...I dont know what to do?
    Help?!

Im having the same problem as well... Mine is doing it shortly after updating it to 4.0 software... mine charges fine but no connection to the comp is being picked up... I posted a thread last nyt... iphone not being recognized by computer if u wanna have a read but we are having similar probs... Im sooo p.o!!!

  • HT5868 My iphone 5 with ios 7 stopped promting me to "trust this computer" and wont charge from USB ports now

My iphone 5 with ios 7 stopped promting me to "trust this computer" 1 day ago after doing it everytime i plugged it in to a USB port on my work laptop. It will now no longer charge from any of the USB ports. The USB ports work fine on the laptop for other devices and my phone will prompt me and charge at any other computer in my office. I possibly hit do not trust by accident which may have caused this. I reset all settings on the phone and rebooted my laptop and none of this fixed the issue. Phone syncs and charges fine at home and there were no issues with my work laptop up until 2 days ago with prompts or charging. Any ideas??

    Hi,
I'm new on this forum and with my iphone 5c.
'Till some days ago I had a Windows Vista pc and when I connected the iphone, it was recognized.
Yesterday I decided to change my SO in Linux Ubuntu 13.04 but now my iphone isn't recognized and I'm not able to use it.
This message appears on my iphone
"Trust This Computer? Your settings and data will be accessible from this computer when connected via USB or Wi-Fi. [Trust] [Don't Trust]"
I clicked Trust but the iphone buzzes twice, then repeats the prompt. This will repeat endlessly.
I read a lot about the bug, but is there any solutions waiting for the resolution of bug?
    I can't use my iphone!!!!
