  • My nano wont come up on iTunes or my computer

I just got my nano yesterday and i plug it into my computer and it shows up and downloads the software that came on the CD that came with it. However now it wont show up anywhere. I have looked through the Forums and everyone seems to be saying "oh use the HP USB FORMAT thingamajigee" and "use FAT32 on it". I downloaded this thing and my ipod showed up on it but I have no idea what FAT32 is and when I tried to format it said that the device has no media on it (which it doesnt cause I just got it yesterday and havent gotten it to show up on iTunes yet). But if anyone has a solution for my problem I would love to hear it

    Answer (for me):
My iPod would show up nowhere, like you, so i tried everything in the forums and on the support website (even the HP thing, which didnt work for me...)
So yesterday I plugged it into my sister's laptop, who also has an ipod nano and itunes, and it showed up. I did a restore with one of her old updaters and now it works fine on my computer!
    Hope this helps....

  • HT201412 My ipod touch 2g wont come up on itunes

my ipod touch 2g wont come up on itunes and will not turn on.  I either get a blue or black screen with the apple logo or one with an empty battery.  Other ipods come up so it is not the chord. I have tried holding the sleep button and the home button at the same time but nothing happens.

If you can turn the iPod off see if placing the iPod in Recovery mode will allow a restore. Next if you can turn it off try DFU mode and then restore.

If you can't turn it off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try everything again
Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store sinc it appears you have a hardware problem.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting?  After leaving the iPod connected to an external power source to charge for at least 30 minutes, have you tried resetting it?

And yes, you can swap the battery out yourself.

    Did you:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • HT1386 Ive been through the troubleshooting.  My ipad (1st G) &my ipod touch wont come up in itunes when connect them 2 my comp.  It's not the USB cord or ports, everything is updated &my app store wont come up on ipad when on wifi. how to fix these probs

My ipad (1st Generation) and my ipod touch will not come up in itunes when I connect them to my computer.  My computer is a MAC and it is brand new with the updated system.  Also, when I am connected to my wireless internet at home, my app store will open on my ipod touch, but it will not open on my ipad.
My USB ports work with other devices that I have, such as my camera, and I have tried plugging in the ipad and ipod to different USB ports on the computer, but itunes still won't recognize them.  The USB cord that I use works.  I know this because I use the same cord to plug into the wall charger and it charges both the ipad and ipod fine.  Also, my itunes has been updated to the most recent version (I update it every time that it's an option).  I HAVE noticed, though, that my ipad and ipod never ask me to update itunes on the actual devices themselves.
What can I do to solve this issue???  THANKS!

Back up first (Time machine) as much as possible.
    Un-install and re install Itunes.
First and foremost download the updated iTunes from apple website. After downloading Uninstall itunes and all its component ( Dont worry, itunes library where your movies and music is located will not be deleted. Please follow instructions on the apple support page). The problem might be the AppleMobileDevice.kext
Heres the instructions on how to un install iTunes

  • New ipod5 wont come out of itunes.

I have a brand new ipod 5. I tried to set it up through icloud but it wouldn't work so I went through Itunes. She has a ipod 4 and I was trying to convert it all over with the same icloud id.  My computer downloaded everything fine but at the end it said that the ipod didnt download correctly or there was an error. Now computer wont recognize device and ipod wont get off the itunes screen. I cannot do anything with the brand new ipod. I've tried turning it off and nothing...same screen. Shows itunes and plug in.....HELP!

Without knowing the exact wording of the error message:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
