Nano6: Remember what songs in shuffled playlist have been played after turning off?

If I'm listening to a playlist on my Nano6, and it's set to "shuffle," if I pause and then turn my iPod off, will it "remember" which songs in the list have already played when I turn it back on? Or will it shuffle through even those songs already played?

6th gen nano. will not remember which song I was on if paused (sleep) or turned off. Defaults to some random song in list and to shuffle mode. I have to go back to songlist and try to remember what song I was listening to (ridiculous). Any way to fix?

I tried just leaving the player in the paused/sleep mode instead of turning it off (someone said it will stay on the song you were just listening to--but no). Still goes back to nowhere (now playing = random and shuffle). I've read that this is a serious problem with the 6th gen. I don't use or like the shuffle feature. I use a sort list in my songlists to play in the order I want. I just want the player to remember which song I left off on and pick it back up from there when I get back to it. I have a 5th gen nano and 2 classics and they work great at going right back to where you left off. Seems like a no brainer to have it remember which song you were on in a songlist and not go back to a random shuffle (now playing) and hear the same song over. Anyone know any tricks to resolve this?

No, the app does not have to completely restart. It gets shifted in its open state into storage. Similar to how a computer uses the hard disk when it has insufficient memory.
What complicates things is that sometimes memory does not get returned for reuse when you close an app. Thus yo should periodically double click the Home button and "delete" unnecessary apps from the multitasking dock and power off and then back on the iPod.

Is there a way for your backup to remember what songs you have downloaded with itunes match

i use itunes match, but i download the songs to my device as i have spotty service where i work and live.
i am upgrading to a larger size iphone and dont want to have to search through itunes match again and select all the songs i want to download again once i get the new phone. is there a way that itunes match will "remember" what song i have downloaded to my device and "re-download" them to the new device?
maybe via a playlist then just download the playlist? this seems like a lenghty way of doing it though.
anyhelp, tips or advice would be greatly appreciate. thanks

I have ordered 3 albums from the itunes to my iphone and only 3-5 song from each album have been allowed to be downloaded to my phone yet i have still had to pay for the full album what do i do to get the other songs as im not happy to pay twice

I supsect you did the update on other than your syncing computer. If yu did the app, music and synced photo will not be on the iPod after the update since those items are not in the backup that iTunes makes. See:

The above applies to all updates performedvia USB on a computer. To get stuff back, restore from backup on the syncing computer.
The above in my educated guess since you provided litle information about how you did the update.

Thank you. I rang Vodafone and although they were not too technical - they suggested my speaker was broken and was probably interfering with the microphone sound out as well. So thank you for the clue - I must admit to not thinking of ringing my carrier supplier. Thank goodness for two things - it is intermittent and I am due an upgrade phone in 6 weeks. I can manage till then I hope with the watery sound from time to time.

IPhone 5s starts over playlist every time car is turned off and one or gets unplugged from car stereo

So I have a iPhone 5s and every single freaking time I turn the car off and then back on / or unplug the phone it starts playing music from the very first song alphabetically so basically what that means is every time I turn the car off and on the same stupid song plays every single freaking time I turn my car on!!!! I am ready to throw this phone like a frisbee over this. I play my music off of playlists I set up and I play them on shuffle but for whatever reason (now this didn't happen much in the past with my 4s, however towards the end of the 4s last couple months I had it... it was starting to get a little weird as well with where it stopped and started on the playlist when the car was turned off but nothing like this 5s) but with the new 5S every single time the car stereo get turned off and then on it does this. I have a newer car stereo probably three years old with a USB sticking out of the front so you just plug the USB directly into the face and it goes straight in and should function in theory but this is crap. I use authentic Apple USB cables for the 5S but just cannot figure this out I've made sure I do not have repeat on I've turned shuffle off turn shuffle back on sync iPhone etc.... what the heck s the problem? For such an expensive phone and a Supposed highly advanced technology by Apple this should be the last thing this phone should be doing. Is it the phone or is it the software whatever it is this is a serious problem for because when it comes to my music you don't mess with my music! I have mentioned this to other 5S owners and they have also experienced the same issue with their car stereos well. Why is it such a mind-boggling problem to just have the song play from where you left it? Status update: I tried my roommates iPhone five and I got similar results disappearing playlist when phone is disconnected or stereo is turned off in car, starts playing songs alphabetically when turned back on were plugged back in. So I know it's just not my phone it's a more universal problem with the 5 / 5S. I talk about this problem with customers I come a cross at work some have similar problems. I also try my phone on their car stereo and I also get similar results. My roommate who has the iPhone 5 recently got rid of it and got a Samsung note 3 this phone has no problem remembering where it was in the song when it was disconnected from the car stereo just like it's supposed to it just works. You turn the car off music stops turn the car on music begins playing where it was on the playlist it was playing in the same exact order it doesn't give you problems like the iPhone 5 / 5s. Also some customers I have talked to who have the 5C don't seem to really have this problem.

It's not entirely impossible actually as someone has pointed out to me that I can turn on Call Forwarding and that stops any incoming calls. I've just forwarded it to my google voice number and then turned on "do not disturb" in google voice and whenever I get a call it goes straight to my google voice voicemail and my phone does nothing. The only thing now is I still get text messages but I think the phone calls bugged me more because they would make my music turn off for much longer.
Even though this isn't a perfect solution it's something so far so maybe you shouldn't just come out and say there's NOTHING I can do because so far I've found part of a solution. If you don't have anyting productive to say then just don't reply and close the tab. Thanks.
