Nano7th gen won't work if not plugged in

My iPOd nano suddenly stopped working. If plugged in to computer, it connects to iTunes fine and everything shows up. The second you unplug it, the screen goes plack. Have done a full restore and several soft resets to no avail

Hello Thomas Faust,
It sounds like you have reset your iPod Nano 7th gen, but the screen goes black whenever you unplug it from the computer even after a reset, and a restore. I would next seek service on the device if you have tried all the steps from the following article:

I set up a new airport time capsule. Most devices connected fine however now my apple tv 2nd gen won't work. I turn it on and it searches for time and date but goes no further. I can't by pass it either. Any suggestions?

I can't by pass it either. Any suggestions?
Does that mean you cannot move it to the TC and plug in by ethernet? What does bypass mean?
I would still move it closer to the TC.. and just trial it there. Range on some AC models for 2.4ghz is worse than old one. For some people.
Another thing to try is fixed wireless channels.. one of the very few options still available in the AC model.. lock the 2.4ghz to 11, 6, 1 .. try it in that order.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen won't work, light flashing green and orange

My 2nd gen ipod shuffle won't work and the light is flashing green and orange.  Or green, orange, orange, orange.  I've Reset, Restarted, Restored and Re-installed, so before I chuck it out I wondered if there were any other suggestions to get it working?  Thanks,

Sounds like it's still under warranty (one year). Take it back for replacement.

  • Ipod nano 5th gen won't work

I tried turning on my Ipod and it won't work. I tried to sychronize it with the itunes in the comp and it didn't. My computer doesn't recognize any device even if I connect it. Reseting didn't work either because there's no apple symbol appearing even after I press both the menu and center. There's no sound coming from the speaker but when I put the earphones, there's this weird sound coming from the earphones. What happened and what should I do to fix the Ipod?

My Ipod's working already. After not using it for 2 days, the weird sound coming from the earphones stopped. I guessed there was no battery anymore. That's why it stopped. After that, I connected it to my comp and it sychronized. Anyways, I'm happy it's back

  • IPod Nano 7th Gen won't work

I just got a 7th generation Nano. It was a gift. I tried to sync it up, and the first problem I had was that it said it was formatted for a Mac, and needed to be restored so it can sync with my PC. No problem. Then it ended up in a loop of saying it has to be restored. When I decided to heck with it for one day, disconnected and unplugged, the display on the Nano wouldn't turn off. I tried the trick of pressing both the home and power buttons at a time and it went blank, now it won't turn on again.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes on my PC (Windows 7) and nothing is working. Help?!?!

If your version of iTunes is not the latest, go here to download the latest iTunes installer
    http://itunes.apple.com
I would try putting the iPod into Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363
On the computer, run iTunes.  If there are other USB devices connected (other than standard keyboard/mouse), disconnect them for now.  Connect the iPod to a direct USB port on the computer, by itself.  If iTunes prompts you to do another Restore, do the Restore.  Hopefully, no "loop" this time.

  • My iPod Touch won't work unless I plug it into iTunes?

I don't know how it happened, but I was just using my iPod touch and out of nowhere, a screen pops up. This screen shows an iPod charger below with a white arrow pointing up towards the iTunes logo. I tried plugging it into iTunes, but the only thing it would let me do was restore my iPod and that would mean wiping the memory clean. How do I get rid of this screen to proceed with what I was doing before, and how can I prevent this from happening again?

It appears that your iPod encountered an error and you have to restore via iTunes. That is how it works.
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • 3 day old ipod 5th gen won't work! Scan and Fix spam message...

I have owned an ipod for about 6 years, upgrading to a new version whenever I could afford it, and for Christmas my father bought me the new 5th gen nano. The last one I had was a 2nd gen nano... I have always kept my itunes up to date and so on and so forth and I have used my new 5th gen for about three days when suddenly I plug it in today and; I start getting a spam of error messages saying that there is something wrong with the ipod and that I need to Scan and Fix it. When I click Scan and Fix it closes out and says that it can not read the disk. iTunes tells me that there s something wrong with my ipod and immediately ejects it before I can even restore it.
In addition, winamp also will not recognize the new ipod but it sees my old one...
I tried using the command prompt thing but I have no idea what driver my ipod is plugged into so I keep getting errors...
I have no idea what to do about this and I am not finding any answers, I'm getting pretty upset ):

  • 4th gen won't work since installing 6th gen

Since Installing a 6th gen nano I can't get itunes to recognise a 4th gen nano which has not ben use for a while, any ideas

    Hello Wendy,
What have you tried in terms of troubleshooting?  Are you using the same cable as you are for the 6G Nano?  Have you tried resetting the Nano with it still connected to your Windows computer?  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons togehter long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Do you see the device in Device Manager?  For more help on determining if it shows there or not, see this article.

  • IPod Click Wheel (4th gen) won't work with new head unit

    Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right forum but... I just put a new head unit in our 2000 Mazda Miata. It's a JVC Arsenal KD-A806. I have tried using the front and back USB ports to connect the iPod and all I get is "reading" over and over and then "not support" on the head unit display. And the "do not disconnect" on the iPod. I've tried different cables and I know the head unit is ok because my husband's Samsung MP3 player works just fine. Is there something with the iPod that might not be up to snuff? I've confirmed via iTunes I have the latest software v3.1.1. It has about 4,000 songs on it.
Thanks in advance - I haven't been able to find any resolution anywhere else.

Mean to say KD-A805 (not 6) and I just found a link saying that you can't connect my iPod to this unit via USB....

  • IPod touch [2nd Gen] won't work!

Okay, so my iPod touch was acting wacky. I plugged it into my computer with the USB cable, yadadada. And I started to update to software 4.2.
But when I did that, the iPod had the "connect to iTunes' symbol abd iTunes said that the iPod was in recovery mode. I tried to restore it when iTunes said there was an error restoring. So I tried to restore on a different user but the same error message came up.
I tried restoring it on a different computer and still, the error came up. When I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, the error was still there!
    Help, please!!

I would try placing the iPod is CFU mode and restoring. See:

  • IPod touch 2nd gen. won't work with old accessories

I just had to buy a new 2nd generation iPod touch because the last one broke. I was mad to find out that my FM tuner and my ihome wasn't supported by the new iPod. Is there any way I won't have to buy all new accessories?

Did you previously have a 2nd generation Touch? On this new Touch, did you install the 3.0 update?
