NanoFlash Footage-XDCAM 422 1080p Preset-Only Razors Video Not Audio Using Control K

Hi Everyone, I am having a problem razoring on the timeline. When using the keyboard short cut C-K, only the video is cut and the audio track does not cut. I have to manually switch to the razor and cut the audio track. Is there a fix for this. Normally it would razor both. The audio track in all the way down on track 9. Thanks Roman

Thank you very much for the reply Colin. That is what makes it work. When I target both tracks by highlighting as your screen shot showed, both track razor with the simple control - K.
Thanks Roman

  • Problems with sound only on video not audio files

    Hello
My first post here. I am having some problems with sound on video files. It is almost no sound, and the sound that is there is only crackling noise. I have the Creative X-treme audio soundcard and have installed the Vista codec pack and the K-lite codec pack. I have also updated the soundcard driver. The thing is that these problems only occure on video files, not on audio files such as mp3's. Can anyone help me?

About alsa dmix, and for the record:
On an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU     E7500  @ 2.93GHz, the following are my finding about
quality/cpu when mixing two streams at 44khz:
    a snippet from my .asoundrc
    #converter "samplerate_best" # perfect: 16%cpu, maybe overkill
    #converter "samplerate_medium" # almost perfect: 6%cpu
    #converter "samplerate" # good: 4%cpu, definitely usable
#converter "samplerate_linear" # bad: 2%cpu, way better than default wine resampler
#converter "samplerate_order" # very bad: 2%cpu, like the default wine resampler
Here is the reference topic: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=942724
I may be wrong, but in an opensource world (code reusing), i really doubt pulseaudio could lead to better quality/cpuuse tradeoff.
Pulseaudio, being just another layer atop of alsa, could only lead to higher cpu usage.

  • Airplay from iMac to AppleTV will only share video, no audio.

I am on Mountain Lion on my iMac, with a new AppleTV. Sometimes screenshare will work, sometimes it will only share video. I can't figure out why it happens, going into Sys Prefs won't let me select audio for AppleTV.

Can you select Apple TV as audio BEFORE you start the mirroring, this is often the problem.

  • Only raw video can be used with green screen background?  What?

    Latest of all software.
I have played with green screen a lot trying to make it work. The instructions say, and the only way to make it work, is to drag the background only to main time line in project pane, then drag a raw video clip from the events viewer on top of it, and choose green screen. This makes the video clip an add on to the main time line which is the back drop (like a title is an add on to a video clip).
As I have railed in other posts, this doesn't make much sense. But the real problem is you can only drag RAW video onto the back ground from events, and can not edit it any way afterwards (since it is treated as an add on, not the main time line). You can edit the back ground, since it is in the main time line.
The bottom line is: you cannot drag a RAW video onto the project pane, edit it and get it the way you want, and then add a back ground via the green screen. This make no sense.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Any ideas?
    bob

Well, here is a convoluted method that seems to work...
    1) drag the raw video to the project pane, edit to your heart's content.
    2) save it as a .mov file (i.e. you are all done with it no more changes...ever).
    3) import that .mov file File, Import as a new event.
    4) drag the background(s) on to project pane, make it long enough for video
    5) drag RAV .mov file (which is really a finished edited file) on to background, choose green screen).
You now have an edited .mov with a green screen background.
Could green screen be implemented more poorly? It would be hard to see how.
I still feel like I am missing something. Any ideas?

I do some VJ-type work, involving playback of QuickTime files from the computer to projections, and I get good results using ProRes 422. That's convenient, because ProRes 422 is such a great editing codec, too.
Traditionally, VJs use PhotoJPEG codec, which also works well, but it's a bad editing codec. So you would have to export an edited master, then convert.
If you want it to look as good as possible, definitely schedule some time to test the footage on the wall. You may want to change the color correction of your footage to match the projectors. And if you feed the video wall some flat gray, you can see if any of the projectors need to be  adjusted.
I'm not sure what application you're using for playback, but QuickTime Player 7 works well. It has an option to play fullscreen on an external monitor (View > Present Movie…).

  • Importing XDCAM EX 1080P 30 Files - Sound but no picture!

I'm taking over a job that was shot by another production company but the client was not happy with their final product. So the client asked me to do something with the Productions companies raw .mov files. They gave me their XDCAM EX 1080P 30 files on a few DVDs. I have never edited XDCAM files before. As soon as I copied them to my hard drive, I clicked on one to view it. Got a message box saying that I may need to install a QuickTime Component to view the video. It sent me to Apple's site.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html?os=OSX&ctype=696d6463&c subtype=78647666
There are a number of components there and I'm not sure which if any I should download.
So, instead, I tried importing the .mov files into FCP 5. Same problem only instead of a black screen with sound, I get a white screen with sound.
Not sure what to do enxt except download one component at a time. Thought that I might get lucky and find someone here that knows what I should do. . .Cliff

Thank you, Andy. I really didn't need to hear that! :–( My Client will not be happy. They're a non profit organization and I was doing this "Pro Bono". I can't afford the $500 to upgrade at this time.
Before I begin scraping that together, is there anyone else who will confirm what Andy has told me?
    Thank you. . .Cliff

  • Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) preset

I need to download the Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) preset for Photoshopt CS6, but cannot find it anywhere on the web.
I spent quite awhile on the phone with support, and after some pretty exhaustive back and forth, their best recommendation was to refer me here, where an Adobe engineer could help me, or a Jedi Knight caliber user? I'd be happy to receive help from anyone at all.
I am trying my hardest to use Photoshop to process a video, using Alien Skin's Exposure 4 (my favorite plugin of all time, and a huge part of my photo workflow).
I would happily use Premier, but Premiere cannot use Exposure 4.
I discovered how to install the other ProRes presets here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5411&fileID=5030
but the ProRes 422 (HQ) is not included in that download. Since I am exporting from FCPX at 422 (HQ), I do not want to suffer any degradation on the round trip to Photoshop, so I want to find the 422(HQ) preset.
If anyone can get me to the Applle ProRes (HQ) preset, I would be very grateful.
I would also be grateful if someone could just tell me that the difference between ProRes 422, and ProRes 422 (HQ) is inconsequential, I'd be happy to hear that, as well. If that were the case, i'd just operate at regular old 422 and know that I was doing my best to protect the footage.
    thanks,
    I'm on a 5,1 MacPro running FCPX 10.8 and Photoshop CS6 v13 (trial), I also own Photoshop CS5.1

i have a solution for you.
    1. import the footage into PS 2014
    2. add your layer and apply your exposure 4 plugin
    3. go to file>export to lut
    4. go back to premiere or davinci resolve and apply the LUT you create in PS to your new footage!
boom you basically have the same look.
    5. now you can apply the LUT and then export to Prores

  • Peremiere Pro CC import issue while importing XDCAM 422 50 MXF file

Hi I also posted into the german board, but got no reply - so now I'm gonna try it in the international board too:
I want to import XDCAM HD 422 50 footage into Adobe Premiere Pro CC. It's the current version. The footage was recorded with a Sony PDW 700. I copied the data directly from the disc to my HDD and kept the directory structure alive. I tried several plugins and also found just one: Calibrated{Q} MXF Import Overview to make it work. But in trial it's just possible to edit 750frames on each clip. So I'm very limited with that. I don't want to upgrade to full version and pay hundreds of $ for this. I guess Premiere should work with this format natively - I mean, it's a really common format!
Btw: I'm driving Premiere on a MBP 15" Retina with OsX 10.10.1 and the Error message is something like "file format not supported or damaged file". I have no issues while encoding the files to ProRes 422 - so I guess they're not damaged. But the encoding 3rd party tools also costs additional money.
Did one of you ever had problems like this?
I'm looking forward to hear from you guys.
Thanks in advance and all the best,
    Kalle

Your sequence settings will have no effect on PP's ability to actually import the footage.  Something else is going on.

  • ProRez 422 coming in only as audio

    Hello,
I've got some .mov Apple ProRezz 422 footage that is only coming in as audio.
    What do to?
I've had other .mov play fine in Premiere Pro CC. I have Quicktime installed.

    Hi Semoff,
Not having tracks patched properly is usually the reason. See this FAQ: Re: FAQ: Why does audio not go to the track where I drop it?

  • Premiere CC v7.2 "generic import error" Sony xdcam 422 50mb / PDW F800

I'm receiving a "generic import error" when attempting to import Sony XDCAM footage in to Premiere Pro CC v7.2.0 (PC). The footage is in the original file structure transferred from a Sony XDCAM disc. The format is 1920x1080p, 29.97, 50mbps mpeg-2 long GOP (CBR). Shot with a Sony PDW F800 camera. It opens and plays fine with the Sony XDCAM viewer. I've tried importing the entire folder structure from PP media browser with no success. Not getting any thumbnails or previews from the files. PP will import the proxy files (mxf/mp4) but not the mpeg-2 HD media. Any insight on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Wil, got this figured out quite painlessly considering the train wreck that it was to begin with. The material consisted of 4 mxf discs all with sequentially numbered duplicate filenames from disc to disc… cameramen love to torture editors. Simply renaming the clips using the OS would not work so here’s what I did. Starting with Bridge I identified the HD material apart from the 8 audio files and 1 proxy file per clip by performing a file search using the letter (V), only the HD video material has a (V) in the filename. Next I copied only the video files to a work folder as to not alter the original disc structure, I did this for each mxf disc. Next critical step was to turn off all metadata logging in Bridge except the filename metadata, then I used the batch renaming function with 3 criteria: 1-seed each filename with the disc number, 2- retain original clip name, and 3-rename extension to mpg. I did this for each disc. Next step was to batch encode using AME. I processed each disc using the same codec as the original source material, MXF/OP1a, Sony XDCAM 50mb with smart rendering codec enabled. My system ripped through this process at amazing speed, it retained the original source clip time code and the quality appears to be unaltered from the original. The reason for turning off the metadata logging in Bridge was to strip off the mxf reference, AME would not process the files by simply renaming them using the OS. Total time to clean-up train wreck; 40 minutes.
BTW: I did not need the associated audio from these clips otherwise there would have been an extra step involved using premiere’s nesting feature as you had mentioned.
    Happy Holidays.

    Bonjour,

  • LR 1.3 cannot save changes to export preset - only create new presets

So, in LR 1.2, I could change some parameters in a preset (export presets) and then save the changed preset. But the upgraded LR 1.3 export form does not seem to have a "save" option. I can create a new preset, I can remove a preset, but I cannot save a change to an already existing preset. I can get around it by ...
. add, creating a new (ie. temporary) name saving my changes
    . open the original preset
    . remove (the old preset)
. open the new preset (with the temp name)
. add using the old preset name that I like to use
. open the temporary (ie. new) preset
. remove (to delete the temporary preset)
    - yuck! What an ugly work around :(
Can we please have our save option back again?

It's still there. Right-click the preset you want to update and select that option.

  • ONLY ONE CHANNEL OF AUDIO WITH SONY PMW-200

    Hi,
When I automate to sequence using video shot on my Sony PMW-200 I only get one channel of audio, when the preset in Premiere clearly states 8 channels of 24 bit audio. If I drag a clip to the timeline all 8 channels are there, but then I have to trim the beginning and end of each clip in order to do transitions, which would take forever on a wedding video. There must be other PMW-200 users who have this same problem. I am shooting in UDF mode 422 at 50 mb/sec on the Sony and just updated my Premiere CS 6.
    Thanks,
    Ed

similar question, I found a thread that may solve your problem: Sony PMW-200 file import into Premiere Pro CS6 only get 1 Ch. audio, you can go for a look. Or you can try some converters to help you.      Handbrake, any video converter, ffmpeg, imixmxf, transcode them first, then reload into premiere.

  • .AVI video not importing correctly. Imports as audio only.

    System: window vista 64 bit
Project type: whatever the standard new project is at the startup screen
Problem: I am importing .avi video files and they are importing as audio only. it will not allow me to drag them into the video slot on the timeframe, and it displays only the speaker symbol in the media management area. Here's the funny bit. I used these files previously in another session June-July 2009, and they worked fine then. I am lost and need assistance!(PLEASE!!)
    Stumped Like a Chump

If you look at the CODEC, it is Xvid, the opensource version of DivX, just as I suspected. These will almost never work in PrE. The best workflow is to go to before the Xvid compression (these are heavily compressed, loosing a ton of data and quality), or to convert them to DV-AVI Type II files with 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio. I use DigitalMedia Converter, but it is shareware. Many users sing the praises of the free Prism to do the conversions. I have never used it, but many here have, and give it very high marks.
Note: no conversion program can ever reclaim that lost data and quality. It is lost and gone forever. That is why my first option was to go back to before that compression was applied. However, conversion will yield files that can be edited with both Video and Audio.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
[Edit] not sure why/how they were working before. Usually, with either the Xvid, or DivX CODEC's, one will get a Cannot Import error, or will get either Audio, or Video only. I have never been able to edit any Xvid, or DivX files, in either PrE, or PrPro - never even once. I just convert, if the client cannot get original source files, and I even have a quality loss diagram to show them how the footage will look - not very good, IMHO. I make them sign-off on that quality loss, before I start.
