NAS shows up as media device.

My NAS is showing up as a media device. I can't map the drive. Windows returns a "Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use" error. This conection has not been restored.
Windows 7 Enterprise. THis was not an issue under XP. How can I get this device to be seen as a network drive?

Let’s try these things first:
1. Disable the firewall to check the result.
2. Disable the SMB2.0 to see how it works.

How do I get Apple TV to show up among my devices?

WHen I installed Apple TV, I synched it to my MacBook. Replaced MacBook with new smaller Mac laptop. However, Apple Tv does not show up on my Devices list on new MacBook. And ITunes sharing is not listed in my SHaring folder on SYstem Preferences. How do I fix that so I can stream from new laptop computer to Apple TV wirelessly? I have Snow Leopard. I cannot find anything in the manuals or Help directory.

If this is AppleTV1 you need to go to Settings > Computers and highlight top entry then select and remove it - this will erase AppleTV media in preparation for a new sync with a new computer.
Next select the blank top entry and add a new iTunes library - this will generate a numeric code on screen.
In itunes the AppleTV device should now appear, click on it, add the code in itunes to pair with AppleTV.
Then set up to custom or auto sync.
If it's an AppleTV2 you need to enable Home Sharing in iTunes and on AppleTV 2.

I am Manikandan.D working in BOSCH India and new user for this forum.
I am having presario C7712TU model laptop, recently i reinstalled my Xp OS service pack 2.
after that i reinstalled all drivers, but it showing some error in audio device driver.
the error code is 10 and it is telling "media device missing"
I have installed UAA driver + conexant HD audio driver
Moreover i couldnt find any wireless LAN icon in network connection tab.
could any body help me..Since i am in Germany..Now helpless!
it is big trouble for me!!!

Webcam the only thing that shows up in the device selection

I am trying to use Adobe flash media encoder 3.2 it only shows my webcam under devices that I can select (with two different names). I can't get it to show my computer screen. If someone could give me step by step instructions on how to get my computer screen to show up that would be great.

Please could you let us know which version of Photoshop you are using and whether the extensions menu is now greyed out? If you used Adobe add-ons to download your products, it will be easy to reinstall them directly from the 'My Add-ons' link on the left-hand side of the add-ons website: creative.adobe.com/addons.
If, however, you are a CS6 user and use Adobe Exchange to obtain products for Photoshop, the 'My Stuff' section of the panel, as well as Extension Manager, will give you an indication of what should and shouldn't be currently installed in your copy of Photoshop.

- Delete all AB and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Audio Book (if present) and delete
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

My iphone 4S shows up on my computer but does not show up in itunes devices. I have all security

I just got an iPhone 4S and am unable to get it to show up as a device in iTunes.
I previously backed up my old iPhone on my Windows 7 PC. When I connect my 4S to the PC it is recognized by the PC but does not show up as a device in iTunes.
I have turned off all virus protection software & have tried uninstalling iTunes and all associated Apple software. I reinstalled all Apple software with no results in my 4S showing up as a device in iTunes.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I movies synced to cloud do not show up on all devices

I have been putting old home videos into iMovie and some show up in my theater on my Mac, others on my iPad and still others on my Apple TV. Not all videos in all places. Some duplicates, but others only show up on one device. When I try to download from the cloud, not all of them show up and, even some of them that show are not accessible for download. What am I doing wrong? What settings do I need to check?

Deleting songs downloaded to your device
You can delete a song or album from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch at any time. Don't worry; it'll still be in the cloud.
Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.

SIgn in with your Apple ID, the same one you used to access this support forum.
Hopefully, you will see a list of all the devices you registered with your Apple ID, including their serial numbers. Let me know how this works out.
Edit to add: If you enabled "find my imac" on your Pro, you ought to be able to remotely lock it, or even wipe its memory. Click http://www.icloud.com/ sign in with your Apple ID and click the big green "find my iPhone" icon (nevermind the name, it will find all your devices provided they're running Lion or iOS 5).
Then file a police report and nail the b*****d.

Since software update, BB shows up as 2 devices

Syncing with the Desktop Manager had been working great for me (contacts and calendar). Today I plugged in to do a sync and was prompted to install a software update. Now when I plug in the BB, it shows up as two devices. When I click "sync," I get a caution that tells me it needs to update hundreds of items in the calendar and also in the contacts. I know I have only altered a few contacts since the last sync and have added maybe a dozen new events in the calendar, so this can't be right.
I canceled the sync and all of my info seems to be intact on my BB and my computer (even though it's outdated info), but now I'm afraid to sync. Is there any way to delete the software upgrade, since everything was working great until now? (I see that there are known issues with the software update--I wish they had warned me of this when it prompted to me to update the software.)
(I had this happen with a Palm device years ago. It took me forever to get it to sync with my mac, then a software upgrade prevented me from ever syncing again. It became a paperweight. I finally gave it away. So I am really gun shy.)

As much as VLC have denied that it is their problem ( [https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=116729 see here] ), the truth is that it is. As others have mentioned above, the file that firefox reads still has 2.1.3.0 as the file version.
To fix this issue do the following:
# go to [http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/ this website] and download and install the program.
# go to the vlc folder in your program files and find npvlc.dll.
# right click and select "open using resource hacker".
# inside resource hacker, go to version info and anywhere where it says 2.1.3.0, change it to 2.1.5.0.
# Click compile script and then go file>save as. You will have to save the file in a different location and then move it into the VLC folder manually.
# Open firefox and goto help>troubleshooting information. Click the show folder button.
# find pluginreg.dat and delete it.
# restart firefox.
If you do what it says above, your problem should be solved. What this process does is it firstly changes the file version of the VLC file to 2.1.5.0 and then forces firefox to re-scan for plugins. If you go to the plugins menu in the addons manager, it should be listed as VLC Web Plugin 2.1.5.0.
Please fell free to uninstall resource hacker after this if you want.

I did go to ITunes and follow the instructions on how to add and delete but it is not giving me the option to add. Just had new hard drive installed and restored from time capsule without any other issues.
Operating system is 10.9.4., Processor 2.7 Ghz Intel Core 17, Memory 16 GB, 1333 MHz DDR3, Storage 526.65 Free out of 999.35 GB. and I did not update to OS X Yosemite. (Because I've heard negative things about IPhoto and I'm working on several photobooks right now.
Not sure if any of the information about my laptop is needed or useful, but thought it may be so am trying to be helpful.

When you say associated devices - are you referring to authorized devices within iTunes (i.e. devices that are able to access your iTunes account)? Or do you mean your registered devices when you log into your Apple ID on Apple's website?

My iPhone 5s wont show up as a device in itunes

It is a new replacement phone with my sim card in it but no data on it. when I plug it into my computer itunes will not open but the computer says its charging and it registers as a device on the computer. In itunes it will not come up as a device. I do not want to reinstall itunes as I have music that isn't saved to icloud in my library that I don't want t lose. My connector cable is not an apple product but has worked with my previous iphone 5s (showed up as a device and synced yesterday). If someone could help me I would be so grateful. Also I'm using windows 8.1 and have upgraded to the newest version of itunes.

HT3819 Home Share issue: I have a Mac and Apple TV. Both are log into the same Wifi network and the same iTunes account (I can view purchased movies on AppleTV). Home Sharing shows 'ON' for both devices. BUT...AppleTV shows no computers. Itunes sidebar-no

Has anyone else found solution to Apple devices not 'seeing' each other on Home Share? I have a Macbook Air (new Nov'12) and Apple TV (new Dec'12). Software updated on both. Both are logged into the same Wifi network and the same iTunes account (I can view movies purchased from iTunes on my AppleTV). Home Sharing shows 'ON' for both devices. BUT...AppleTV shows no computers... and ... Itunes sidebar does not have a 'Shared' area at all. Help please as without this functionality, my Apple TV only provides portal to purchased (i.e. Netflix,...) content which I can get from Wii or Xbox.
I have already tried the following without success:
1. Homeshare DID work the first day after I setup Apple TV... but the next day it has not worked since then.
2. Powered off 30 sec then re-started (Apple TV & Macbook & iTunes login)
3. Checked Firewall settings per Home Sharing troubleshooting guide (correct settings)
4. Turning on Photostream in iPhoto and selecting iPhoto within iTunes and then checking to see if Photostream shows anything on AppleTV (it shows 'on' for my iTunes account but 'Zero' pictures found ... despite the >3,000 pictures showing avail in iTunes).
I also have 'Remote" app on my iPhone 4, with Home Sharing turned on (same Wifi network)... it has a very similar message as the Apple TV and same result that despite all devices having HomeShare 'on' they cannot see each other: "Remote will automatically find the iTunes libraries and Apple TVs that have Home Sharing turned on using the account xxxx (it lists my correct itunes account name)."

I solved this by reset of the Wifi (unplug cable and power to both modem and wifi ... wait 60 sec ... plug in modem cable and power ... plug in wifi power and LAN to modem ... restart AppleTV and Mac ... Turn Home Share 'OFF' in iTunes then back "ON" ... it took ~60 sec for the AppleTV to pick up my Mac in computers.
