Nasty border in firefox

Hi. I having trouble with a table border in firefox.
The page color is f9f9f9 and each column in the table has a
background color of f5f5f5 with a 2pix border of f9f9f9 so it
should appear as though the white colums sit on the background with
a 2 pix division between them. It displays correctly in Safari and
IE, but Firefox puts a nasty black border around the table and
columns. Any advice in how to get rid of this would be much
appreciated. Can't picture it? Have a look at
http://primophotos.com
Thanks for any help

Firstly - html coding is wrong - immediately after the body
tag you
have a <tr> and <td> with no <table> before
the <tr>
maybe more -
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fprimophotos.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automa tically%29&doctype=Inline&ss=1&group=0&verbose=1#line-97
secondly as described - use css to do all the styling of the
table.
the bordercolor="#F5F5F5" html is not valid html it is
proprietary to
Internet Explorer.
You would also be strongly advised to move all your css code
out of
individual pages and into external style sheets - and give
the styles
usable names - or maintenance is going to be a nightmare.

  • Table border colors & Firefox/Safari

I've noticed that when I set a table border color (using the

    Firefox recognises:
    .table {border: 1px solid #black}
black being the border color.... so not sure why you say that
    it doesn't
    recognise it :)

  • Border Trouble - Firefox

I change the borders of my site to a deep red from the
default color, and in the design it changes correctly, but in the
preview, and on the actual site, it remains the default color when
using Firefox. IE displays it fine.
Is there any reason for this anyone knows of?

The drinks are on Gary - he nailed it :-)
You are using the following to give a border to the table.
    bordercolor="#990000
which doesn't show up in standard compliant browsers.
You need to set the border colors via css.
You need to give the table an ID and then define the border
    color that way.
    eg: CSS:
    #maintable {border: 1px solid #990000}
and in your code, give the table the ID of maintable.
Couple of ways to do this here:
    http://www.dreamweaverresources.com/tutorials/tableborder.htm
Also, you shouldn't be using a height attribute, it won't
    work when you are
using a full and valid doctype.

When you say "cancel sandbox" where do you do that -- in a Firefox add-on or in some other software?
If you normally start up Firefox using a shortcut, can you check its properties and see whether the other program "sandboxing" it is identified there? You might also be able to edit the path to its default, which of my Win7x64 is:

  • Is there a way to remove the GNome border for Firefox in Fedora 20 (gnome desktop)

Hi I have Fedora 20 with Gnome 3 desktop. The Firefox 31.0 has a bar above the tabs where it displays a bar and it shows the page title. Is there any way to remove it as it uses some space and I hate it. Is there any way to hide it or remove it.
I have added screenshots just for reference: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jayabharat/15136543446/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/jayabharat/15159579845/

Well, that works in my Windows, but not in Gnome 3. So In order to remove the title bar, I had to use Add-ons.
    HTitle 2.13 did wonders.
Hide Caption Titlebar Plus 2.8.6 is also a good option.

  • Can't remove white border/line on left & top of Swiftweasel [Solved]

As the title states; I cannot remove this persistent white line/border thing at the top and left side of my Swiftweasel (Firefox) web browser. I know there must've been a post about this before but with such familiar/vague keyword combinations such as "white line border swiftweasel / firefox", etc, I couldn't find anything in the Forum or on Google except something to do with certain webpages (which in my case is on ALL pages). Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about:
(Swiftweasel is at the top of the screen, in case you couldn't tell. See the white line/border at top/left?)
I disabled all my extensions and Stylish styles and the white line/border on top & left side are still there. This was an issue on my previous Arch installation as well (not that it has anything to do with Arch itself) but I'm just saying that it's been an issue before for me. Any ideas?   It's just very annoying.
EDIT:  Solved: read my last post.

Thanks for the response. As far as renaming ~/.mozilla, it kept regenerating itself each time I opened Swiftweasel, so I moved ~/.sw35 to ~/.sw000 and then opened it and there was no white line. So I went through one by one installing my add-ons again and, even though I had disabled it and restarted earlier, it turns out that if I don't install "NumExt" it wont have the white line. That's so weird that it didn't do it earlier when I disabled it. Sad, though, since I really liked that extensions. Maybe I'll see if I can edit the file somehow.

  • Why is firefox displaying differently than IE?

I'm trying to display the slideshow on my homepage without any border.  The correct view is found with firefox.  The main content in my css currently has a 1pt solid border because two things happen when i remove it.
    1. Firefox will display the slideshow off to the side.
    2. Firefox shows a space between the main content and the logo section
I'd like to remove the border so that IE can display it correctly but i haven't found a way to do this without affecting the look in firefox.  I'm thinking it has something to do with margins and so forth but i can't pin it down.  Any help is much appreciated!
site is found at http://moss1.moranshipping.com and I've attached my css

In case anyone was wondering the below seems to have solved my problem:
    mainContent{
    border-top:inset solid #FFF;
    border-top:inset;
With this I still have the border in firefox that I need so there are no spaces in between sections and IE will not display a thick border around my slideshow.

  • Rendering of css different in Firefox vs IE8

I created an external style sheet to define a:link (color light grey), a:visited (light purple), a:hover (light red) and  a:active (also light red) to apply to a text and an associated image's border. Firefox renders it correctly but IE8 does not associated the image link with the style sheet; instead it just shows the borders using old blue link color and the purple visited link color, no a:hover or a:active.. What am I doing wrong?

Difficult to see what's wrong, because you only supplied the html, no CSS.
Is there a way for you to upload the pages and provide a link - it's always better to see the page live.
One suggestion is to make sure the links are in this order:
    Link; Visited, Hover; Active
LoVeHA  (easy way to remember it )
If the image is a link, it will give you a blue box around the image, unless you write a specific style for images that are links.
a img {border: none;}   will display no border around a linked image

  • Firefox focus issues

    Hi!
I have a sometimes very irritating problem with Firefox. I have a Logitech G7 mouse with a tiltable wheel that I've set up to change tabs in forefox, and a sidebutton that I use to close tabs with. I'm just using xbindkeys to bind the mouse buttons to ctrl+page up, ctrl+page down and ctrl+w. The thing is that firefox sometimes seems to loose focus, and ignores keyboard commands. For example when I close my current tab with my mouse or by pressing ctrl+w, and then try to close the next tab too, it doesn't work. I have to click on another window or on the desktop to make firefox loose focus, and then click on firefox again. Then it starts working temporarily again.
I'm using Firefox 3.0b2 from AUR right now, but I had the same problem with Firefox 2 from extra too. I use gnome with metacity. I also have a couple of plugins installed, but I have tried without any plugins too. I also have the same problem on my laptop, and both my computers use Arch64.
So, does anyone know a solution to this? It's not such a big deal really, but I gets really annoying sometimes.

    arnuld wrote:
Aha... and I thought I am the only with Firefox issue
I use "wmii" and my Firefox always looses focus. In wmii, you can change to different TAGS (like Desktops in GNOME) using "ALT-#" If i have 3 tags opened and Firefox is running on tag-2 and I go to tag-3 to check my messages in pidgin and come back with "ALT-2" I do not see Firefox. I see only border of Firefox and between the border i see my background wallpaper . Clickign with mouse does not bring the focus in anyway..... Quite funny though.. It is happening very frequently , nearly all the time, even if I kill Firefox using <killall firefox-bin> or <kill -9 PID> , the problem remains as it is when I start Firefox again :\
This also seems to be a different problem from what I'm experiencing, but it seems like there are lots of different firefox focus issues. From your description it almost seems like firefox has crashed for you, since it is no longer drawing itself. Have you tried running firefox from a terminal, to see if you get any error messages?

  • New Firefox, will not save home page and opens up displaying all add-ons every time!

Okay - for YEARS now I've used ONLY Firefox - it had the best extensions and add-ons of any other browser out there. Add to it, it was safe and very quick. So it was my default browser.
This week I logged into my DeviantArt site and odd advertisements started showing up in the lower left and right corners of the browser, unlike anything I'd ever seen before. Add to it, they were very inappropriate! So I assumed that something was wrong, and went through three, as in 3, programs to find out if I had any 'bugs' causing the problems. And of course, there was some kind of nasty bug in Firefox causing all kinds of issues.
So, following the suggestions of the fixer, plus the suggestions here, I deinstalled Firefox (21) then reinstalled the newer version, 23. At first, I thought, "Wow, that is really fast!". When I opened Firefox it didn't go to my home page, it went to the Firefox startup page, along with opening tabs for EVERY add-on and extension!
So, opened Tools, Options and reset the home page to my home page, https://www.google.com
Simple, and something I've done before. I'm a computer geek and have worked on my own additions. So, set up my home page, was working in Firefox, went to youtube to download a video and it wouldn't! So went to DLhelper, read their comments, changed one of the strings, and voila! No problems!
So I thought it was fixed and I was happy. That was last night. This morning I boot the puter and the first thing I do is open Firefox . And what happens? Oh, yes, that's right, NOTHING THAT I WOULD HAVE WANTED! It's back to the Firefox startup page, and it opens tabs for EVERY SINGLE ADD-ON!
Holy carp, getting tired now. So I research from 8 this morning until about an hour ago, so just over 5 hours I keep trying to fix it based on Firefox instructions. Go into about:config, work on the strings, change the home page info, etc. Save it. Go back to Tools, Options and there's my home page. Close Firefox and open it, and what the heck? Again, back to where it was, opening as if I just uploaded this browser. Now I've spent literally HOURS trying to fix this and I'm so frustrated that I'm just about ready to de-install it! My one complaint is that I searched all over to try and find this same problem and cannot find it. Is that true, I'm the only one with this bizarre problem???

EDIT - Now that it's fixed, I shall remove my negative comments where I can. Oddly, the final reset fixed it...

  • Why do I get a beveled border when creating e-promotions?

When creating an HTML document for e-promo, I used to get a flat border when I designated border. Recently, I've been getting a beveled border from Firefox, no matter if I use HTML or CSS. This is not happening with other browsers.

    Hi RaineDragon
E-mail blasters don't like CSS and prefer HTML. Too many e-mail hosts strip out CSS. Therefore I use straight HTML and "border="8" bordercolor="FFFFFF" etc.
This gives a flat border. No bevels.
I'll try using the css, but if blaster sends back with request for HTML, in some e-mails, they will have a beveled border. Clients can get picky.
    Thanks for your suggestion, Theo

  • Unwanted border around flash movie

Though I found that this problem is quite common and can have
different causes, I still couldn't resolve my own case.
I have several flash animations embedded in a table and the
one that has a rollover-action shows an unwanted border in Firefox
and in Internet Explorer. The borders are all set to 0, the
vertical and horizontal spacing of the <object>-tag is set to
0, too but no matter what else I tried it just doesn't work. The
animation does not show these borders when I test-compile it in
Flash, so I guess it could have something to do with the way
Dreamweaver embeds it in the HTML-file.

Is possible put firefox XP Theme default on Firefox theme default windows 7? Because I love light grey of XP Theme default and don't like blue color of windows 7 theme default.

If you only want to change the window border around Firefox, you can't without a third party application such as WindowBlinds and if you do decide to go that route, you have to pay or obtain it through other less legal ways. Please note that this application changes the entire Windows theme and not just Windows border so if you want to use an XP Grey theme on Windows 7, it'll change everything from the start button to the icons.
