Nasty page flash on swf pop up in IE 7 - fix?
Go to
http://www.enhancedwireless.net/Technology/patentPortfolio.shtml
and rollover 71 Countries...
I know that it works on IE 7, but when you
rollover the "71 countries," the entire page has a nasty
flash to it as the
pop up is activated - in other words, the whole browser
window for a split
second flashes...that's not supposed to happen and doesn't
happen on any
browser except IE 7.
Would love a fix. Anyone?

Thanks for reply - yes I know it pops up in IE 7, but only in
IE 7 there is an awful page flash when you rollover the 71
countries - very bad - the whole browser window flashes with a
strange flash for a split second - so how to fix this in IE 7?

Blank page flashes between SWF pages
Hi all!
I am building my first Flash website and have a small
problem.
I am building it using individual SWF files for each page.
However, when I click a button to navigate from one page to
another, I am getting a flashing blank screen for just a split
second. What i mean is, it doesn't quite flow from one page into
another - just for a split second, a blank screen appears.
Anyone got any idea why this is and how to get rid of it???
THANKS ALL!
LiamHi!
This is probably because it takes a bit of time to load the
files, and you
destroy the previous page before the new page is loaded. So
even if this is
fast on your connection, a slower connection would maybe see
an even longer
"blink".
What you need to do is do some kind of preloading of the
page, and wait with
exchanging the view of one page to the next until the new
page is fully
loaded. You can learn about preloading .swf files at:

How to detect end of flash movie (SWF file) in Javascript
I have used Dreamweaver CS4 to integrate my SWF file as shown
below. So far so good. See GoToNext()
my website
What I wouldd like to do is have the SWF movie trigger a
javascript function in my html page when the video is stopped
playing (i.e. when it is finished) There are no controlls in that
SWF file - it is basically am add banner. I would think this would
be easiest done by rasinng an event in SWF that is communicated to
javascript, where I can add an event listener, and thus trigger my
function.
How can this be done in the simplest way?
<div id="bodyFlash"
class="clearfloat"><p> </p>

Delete it if you don’t want users to see the prompt. -->
<param name="expressinstall"

<!-- Next object tag is for non-IE browsers. So hide it

Flash Player security Pop up when using camera and microphone.
Hello Friends
Can any body suggest me how to remove flash player security pop up for camera and microphone through coding.
Thanks in advance.The security pop-up was first introduced with FP7. If you want to bypass it I can name two ways off the top of my head:
1. Regardless of ActionScript version (2.0/3.0) in the Flash authoring enviroment, in the Publish Settings dialogue box, the Flash tab, near the bottom choose Access Network Only from Local Playback Security.
2. Publish your movie as a projector. Both of these techniques will allow to "play" your swf file locally. -
Dear Sirs,
I hope to be directing my question into the correct forum's place.
I'm new in flash and I'm trying to make some tests
My problem is the following:
I included one SWF file into 3 HTM pages.
This SWF works as a little menu.
The SWF file (named "menu.swf") contains 3 items working as command buttons to access the three different HTM pages
Each HTM page contains the same "menu.SWF" file, some HTML text and one picture.
The swf contains:
Button 1 -> calls page1.htm using:
on (press) {
getURL("./page1.htm", "_top");
Button 2 -> calls page2.htm using:
on (press) {
getURL("./page2.htm", "_top");
Button 3 -> calls page3.htm using:
on (press) {
getURL("./page3.htm", "_top");
When I enter to "page1.htm" it appears correctly showing the swf file and all the HTML text.
It is OK.
But when I'm in "page1.htm" and I click on "Button1" (to reload "page1.htm") the only thing that I can see (after reloading page1) is the HTML text and the picture, but I cannot view the "menu.swf" file.
"menu.swf" remains in its place, but "invisible".
You can click on its command buttons, but anytime I click on the button that loads the same page (for example: "Button 1" to reload "page1.htm") the
swf file(s) doesn't appears.
The same thing happens when I'm in page 2 with Button 2 to reload page2 .htm, and so on.
How can I do to solve this problem?
Sorry for my not good english but I'm spanish speaker.
Thank you!
GusThe path in the buttons is not correct once you navigate to the htm page.
So here you are on the landing page and the menu button says to get to "page1.htm" go up one folder level (../) to the file page1.htm.
Now once you are up one level, either you loose access to the .swf because from that page the path to the .swf is not correct, or if the .swf does show, then the path in the buttons back to the other pages is not correct, because you are now one folder level higher.
If I am mis-reading your post and all pages are in the same folder, then remove the "../" part before the page name in the URL. Or perhaps you are using ./ to denote the current directory... I'd still suggest removing it. So the the getURL would look like this :
getURL("page1.htm", "_top");
if all pages are in the same folder.
And if I am reading your post correctly, then you cannot use the same button URL to get to ("./page1.htm", "_top"); and once on page1.htm use that same URL to get back down to your landing page.
So I'd say it's a pathing problem.
Give that a try and see if it helps.
Best wishes,

Flash 8 SWF loading Flash 6 and 7 SWF with quality issues
I have made a Flash 8 .exe that "loadmovie"s a
Captivate(Flash 6) SWF. The animation screenshots come out blurred
when the SWF is loaded in the Flash 8 .exe. If I create a test
Flash 7 .exe, this does not happen. Any Ideas?
PS - I need to use Flash 8 because of filters and VP6
video.It's not completely clear what you're saying.
Do you have a wrapper SWF that first dynamically loads the
Flash 6 movie? If so, then is that wrapper in Flash 8 format? If
that's the case, then if someone has only the Flash 6 Player then
it may not be displayed anyway.
If what you're doing is loading the Flash 8 movie into Level
0 of the Flash 6 movie, then this may be causing some of the mess
you're experiencing.
Normally there are two ways to catch a viewer that doesn't
have the Flash 8 Player: 1) a detection script, which usually
works, and is part of many of the HTML templates that are built
into Flash (HTML Settings panel); or 2) Put the Flash 6 movie on a
separate HTML page from the Flash 8 SWF. -

Flash 6 and flash 8 swf on same site
bob ayers tax website
initially, i load a FLASH 6 swf to tell visitors to upgrade
to FLASH 8 ...
when they click to enter website, i unload the FLASH 6 movie

problem is that (what i suspect to be) remnants (blue
horizontal lines) of the FLASH 6 appear in the background of the
FLASH 8 movie ...
any suggestions?

Page Flashes Yellow when Page Loads
Hi, I actually have a web guy doing a site for a client of
mine, but when the site loads, the whole background flashes bright
yellow and subsequently each page flashes yellow before it loads as
well, but only once. Web guy took out the SWF animations I sent him
and the flashing stopped. I've given SWF animations to other web
designers and this hasn't happened. Would someone be kind enough to
look at the site and let me know if they have any ideas. It's still
a work in progress. Here's the link:
http://www.trendmultimedia.com/arrowhead3/index.html">website[/L]In the site CSS, there is this:
body {
background-color: #FFFF00; /**this is yellow**/
Change it to dark blue.
Also, that page has some html errors including 2
</body> </body> tags at the
end of the document. Only one end of body tag is required.

How can I disable warning: "This page contains some SWF objects..."
"This page contains some SWF objects that may not work properly in the most recent version of IE..."
Is there a way to suppress this warning?! I'm doing a find and replace on an old web site, which does not pay well! and this pops up on every page. I have to click on it to continue every time. Making me mad.
ThanksThanks for answering. In my case that won't work because I'm doing a global find and replace of some text.
I agree though, that process would eliminate the message when I have to come back to edit the site again. It's just the thought of many dozens of pages that would need it and to be honest, I'm really not feeling that motivated to do all the up front work right now
Like I said, there should have been a setting for this... -
Insert animated gif or flash files (.swf) in Form?
How can i insert animated gif or flash files (.swf) or another type of animated files in Form?
If you are web deployed you can put an animated gif as the image to an iconic button.
Image items cannot display animated gifs.
Anything else you can do through a JavaBean if you need to. -
I want to print my online bank statement.
Please see screen shots below.
The webpage has a link that says:
VIEW STATEMENT
Click the link and a pop-up opens that warns you about downloading using a public-access computer or sharing a computer with others.
If you want to continue click OKAY.
When you click this link another pop-up appears (a pop-up within a pop-up)
but it is blank.
When the process used to work, the statement would appear.
MacBook running OS X 10.6.8
When I tried it with Safari everything worked as it should so the problem is not with the bank.
I went back to Firefox (my preferred browser) and did the troubleshooting RESET.
Nothing changed.
In the Tools menu - Page Info - Permission - Open Pop-up Windows is set @ Default - Allow
In Preference - Content - Block pop-up windows is unchecked
or when it is checked the website is listed in the Allowed column.
It is the correct url because when I clicked the yellow options bar to Allow it, FireFox automatically chose it.
I also tried adding the extended url as it appears on the web page which has the first pop-up link.
Firefox would not accept it.Screenshots:
# Part of bank's webpage with the link to the first pop-up
# The first pop-up page with link to the statement pop-up page.
# The second pop-up page - blank where there should be the statement. The page appears but the data doesn't. -
Saving Flash 7 SWF created in Flash 8
I understand from experience that viewing Flash 8 SWF files
on the Flash 7 Player results in text not showing up. The Flash 8
text is obviously superior, but unfortunately, a major contingent
of my viewers are too afraid, too naive, or their systems are too
messed up to upgrade their Flash Players from earlier versions.
Obviously, to solve the problem, I can save the SWF as Flash 7
backward compatible; however, I am more than disappointed with the
results of this solution. The main problems with this approach is
that the text looks week and the bitmap alignment is no longer
perfect when trying to intermingle my flash content with existing
background content.
Please someone help me with a better solution by providing me
with a list of parameters that need to be in place so that my Flash
7 files created in Flash 8 look more presentable.> Peter, as for a list of parameters, I mean precisely

There seems to be come confusion here. It's not a matter of
'checking off'
options, rather of publish settings. In the 'Publish
Settings' dialogue,
under the 'Flash' tab, 'Version', select 'Flash Player 7'.
the important
thing is not to use any *features* that depend on Flash
Player 8 - these
include (but are not limited to!) filters, any of the new
text rendering
options (custom anti-alias), any of the new Classes (geom,
filters, display,
external) etc etc etc.

Again, you are a bit confused I think. Obviously they will be
different than
if published for FP8 - that wasn't my point. What I said was:

So, using Flash 8 to author but publishing for FP7 will look
the same as
using Flash MX2004 ('Flash 7') to create your content. You
are saying your
bitmaps shrink "compared to when exported normally in Flash
8" - I never
mentioned publishing for Flash 8.

Well yes, of course. You said it yourself - you have exported
for FP7 -
playing it in FP8 won;t magically make it look better! For
that, you would
have to *publish* for FP8.
