NAT TYPE 3 on PS3 using BT HOME HUB

Recently I have noticed that my NAT Type has changed from OPEN to STRICT on my PS3. This is causing problems when connecting to online games. Quite often I will not be able to connect to game, friends will not be able to connect to me if I am host and also I get signed off the PSN network randomly. This has only started happening recently.
I have read about this on other threads and it appears to be a problem with the BT HOME HUB. I have the older white version (not sure what model type).
Can anyone advise if BT intend to address this common problem with connecting to online games through a BT Home Hub?
It would appear that obtaining  NAT Type 2 from NAT Type 3 can be quite a tricky process. Again I would be grateful if anyone has any advice on how to do this and whether ti is worth trying.
If this issue is not resolved soon I may have to consider if I will renew my contract with BT as it would appear it is a recent upgrade to the BT Home Hub that has caused the problem.
I did not have any major connection issues until recently.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

try this mate,it was for my old bt205 but when i got my first hub i had to use these settings also.oh and another 1 to look for is in your hub settings 192.168.1.254 then go in to advanced settings and look at your network ( have your xbox on ) your hub should list the things connected to it,now pick the xboxlive from the dropdown box and pair it up this should always give you open nat,if it goes strict again unplug router/hub power line for 2 mins then reboot and reboot your 360.

  • Using multiple Home Hubs as access points

I have a BT Infinity connection using a Home Hub 5, however the signal is poor or non existant in parts of my house. I have Cat5e wired to some of the rooms around my house, so could I connect 1 or 2 additional Home Hub 5s to extend/improve the signal? If this is possible is it easy to configure?
    Thanks

Is there an option on the signal box setup, to specify a static IP address?
If there is, then try the following settings.
    IP address 192.168.1.50
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway 192.168.1.254
    DNS Server 192.168.1.254
You can then setup port forwarding to that static IP address.

  • PS3 Nat Type 3 Cant change Using Wrt120n

    i
have listed all ports udp and tcp i have disabled UPnP i have changed mtu to 1364 and tried 1365. i have rebooted both router and modem. still no success. Cant seem to change nat type 3 to nat type 2. plz does anyone know of anything else i can do. i am use a WRT120n wireless router

I think you have one of those modem/router combos, and that you're cascading into a wrt120n. Does your modem/router combo have wireless or multiple ports?
    I have a suggestion:
Since your wrt120n's ip address is 192.168.1.1, try using the DMZ on your modem and give it to your router's address. Then forward the ports from your router to your PS3. I hope that will help. Also set the PS3 to automatically acquire it's IP address and DNS server.

  • Nat Type question for PS3 (wrt610N)

I have the wrt610N on cable internet and am playing Modern Warefare 2 on the PS3. Since day 1 I have had a Type 2 Nat type according to the PS3's internet connection test.  Modern Warfare 2 has a Nat Type indicator on the lobby screen and mine has always said Moderate.
Well, after a little research, I forwarded my ports and presto, it said my NAt type was open. Yesterday I accidently unplugged the router and now my lobby screen is saying moderate again.  My ports are still forwarded, so I have no idea what is going on.  Any ideas?
Someone suggested that I can just go in the router and set it to open, but this does not sound right.  Also, I was reading some posts on here and noticed people mentioning something about home network defender in the management tab.  I have no such option.  Anyone know why?

yea I called my ISP yesterday and explained my problem they said that they do not block any ports at all so it cant be from them anyway because i used to have a nat 2 then i reset my router which made it back to nat 3 so i know that it is possible o get it its just the router's screwing something up. I contacted link sys via phone and i explained my problem to the lady, she said she doesn't have enough authority to go into my router's settings but she can transfer me to that department, i say SURE but then she interrupts and tell me theres a fine of like $25 just for talking to them im like "yea, ill go look and see if theres a solution anywhere else"
so im definately not getting any help from link sys at the moment unless one of you guys wanna give me 25 bucks.
please though, is there anything that may be incorrect? i know it has something to do with the router but even though i tried everything everyone has said it still wont work please help!!!

  • Restricting Wireless Access using BT Home Hub

    Hi
I am trying to set up my BT home hub so that my daughter can only have limited access (fed up with her being on FB 24/7!)
I thought I had done by using the set up access mode, but I have a feeling that this is not working all the time.  Has any one else managed to successfully do this?
Thank you for reading and would be grateful of any advice as this is driving us to the brink!

Are you sure that she is not simply bypassing it via the hub manager?
You could change the hub manager password.

You cannot change any settings like that within the BT home hub, it is locked down.

  • Can I use old Home Hub (White one) on Infinity ? M...

I upgraded to Infinity a few months ago.
The black v2.0 hub has developed a hardware fault......power light on, but can't connect to the DSL Modem.
I have tried all the resets (power......hard reset button, etc), and reported the fault.
A replacement is on order, but will take a few days to arrive.
I still have the old white Hub and was wondering if I could use that while I wait for the replacement v2.0 to arrive.
As users of BT Vision, it is a right pain having to wait for the new unit.
    Any (relevent) advice appreciated..........

white hub will not work with infinity

  • Mail won't send emails using BT home hub 3

Had this problem and found little help through the genius bar.
If anyone has this problem in future refer to this URL:
    http://business.forums.bt.com/t5/Email/email-on-Mac-problem-sending/td-p/46630/p age/2
    Hope it helps.

Hmmm…then try creating a new User account for testing purposes, setup Mail there with the same settings and see if the password is accepted there. If it is, that would seem to suggest that your Mail preferences file is corrupt, and the only way to be certain and correct it is to remove the current one and create a new one.
If you have to do that, there are different steps depending on whether you have a POP account, an IMAP account, or a combination of both, so let us know before you do anything so we can give you the correct instructions.

  • PS3 NAT Type

Hi there, anyone have a guide how to open up the NAT type on the PS3 with the HH4, on the main settings/test on the PS3 this is type 2 - used to be type 1 with my old provider. When using COD the NAT is set to moderate. this used to be open, before i got the HH4.
I also set the IP address in the router to static with no success.
    Many thanks

I'm not sure how to set up my modem in "pure bridge" mode
Broadband ADSL2+ Modem DM111PSP User Manual - Netgear
Please refer to item #3 on page 13 and also Page 64 in the User Manual, which explain how to do this.
You must configure the modem in Bridge Mode or "Modem Mode" first and then configure the AirPort Extreme to connect using PPPoE. Enter your user name, password, etc., in the AirPort Utility setup, but leave the Service Name area completely blank. Connection should be "Always On" and Disconnect if Idle should be "Never".
You cannot configure the AirPort Exteme to connect using PPPoE unless you first configure the modem in pure bridge mode, or "modem mode".
This is the only way to obtain "Open NAT" using this modem and the AirPort Extreme.

  • NAT type on pc (for mw2)

So for ages now ive been trying to set my NAT type to open for MW2 on my PC, however, all hte guides I find either dont work, or only work for ps3/xbox. Some info about my setup: upnp is ON. DMZ is OF. Firewal is ON. So if anyone knows an easy way to permanantly set the NAT type to open, it would be much appretciated.

I could never get anything less than NAT type 2 when using the home hubs. I switched to a Netgear and now have no issues at all.

  • Nat Type

Hello. A have a problem with NAT TYPE on my ps3. I've got a moderate. How to fix this problem? How open nat type? Help please !!

hmm just typed this out in another thread but i guess it applies here too .
what i do for xbox live is manually set the xbox ip and dns servers in the xbox network settings.
then on the modem router (i use a draytek but i am guessing there must be a setting in the homehub3) i set that xbox ip to dmz.  this means the xbox gets an open nat type in all games.
also all my clan mates always make me host in modern warfare 3.  green bars and good hit registration all round.  gotta love that infinity upload right .
