NAT Type for PS3
My PS3 tells me I have a "Strict" NAT type and it has limited my gameplay. What do I do to make it open? It would really help.
To change the NAT type on your PS3 you need to open the PS3 ports on your Router.Click here and follow the steps to change the NAT type on your PS3.

Cant get open nat type for PS3, it use to be but wont go back
im on Fios with the verizon router. I had the DMZ set to an ip with the PS3 also on it. the nat type was open and all was ok. I dont know how long its been this way (guessing not long because I have sucked at COD this week!) but I noticed im not at moderate. I checked the DMZ and the ip was still there. looked at PS3 and it was empty for some reason, so I put the ip back. ive restarted and tried other IPs andit will not go back to open. ive looked at youtube tutorials to be sure that im not missing anything but the vids seem tobe older because I have more options on the router settings than what the vids show, guess I have newer firmware. Any suggestions?
actually, Open is what you want. you have a lot better preformance online when dealing with fast paced games like COD. you will really notice a difference. generally you just designate an IP in the DMZ settings of the router, then tell the PS3 to only use that IP, and thats it. just seems now on my end thats no longer the case and cant get it to go

Amazon Q&A - E3200 - Default Nat Type for xbox 360 and ps3
Date: Sep 5, 2012 4:08:21 PM PDT
Linksys E3200 High-Performance Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router
the nat type for xbox 360 and ps3, what is it when you set the router up out of the box? are the nat types open moderate or strictHi there. It actually depends if the gaming consoles ports are not blocked by your ISP. Moderate NAT type limits your connection playing online games, Strict does not allow you any connection at all while Open allows you to play with everyone online. Have you had a router before with Open NAT on the gaming consoles? Try to check without the router by going directly to the modem and see if your NAT type is open or strict or moderate. If ever modem is fine and it is the router not working right you can port forward ports on the router. I found these usual ports online, for XBOX live:TCP and UDP ports: 80-88, 3074-3074, 4267-4269. For PS380, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480, 5223, 8080 and UDP: 3478, 3479.

Open NAT Type for three xbox 360s on E3000?
I have three xbox 360s (mine plus my son and my daughter)...I have my settings set to where when myself and my son are on our 360s our NAT type is open...but as soon as my daughter gets on hers the whole thing goes to strict....
Just a question though:
Are you experiencing this when you are playing the same game in the same network with your son and daughter? what are the settings of the other router?
have you tried these steps?

Open nat type for xbox 360 with wrt160n?
How can I open my nat type on the xbox 360 with my wrt160n?
Currently it is on moderate..........I had this same problem, I had to enable three things. enable UPnP, enable Allow users to make congiguration changes, enable Allow users to disable internet access. You most likely have the first two I mentioned enabled but the last one is the one I didn't have enabled and once I enabled then I had open NAT

Setting up the airport extreme so i can get nat-2 for Ps3
what are the Settings i need to know to do this ? I have a dsl modem and my airport is set up to share a public IP address.
Anytime you change networking hardware it is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle of that hardware. Check out the following AirPort User Tip for details. Please post back your results.

Should I get a new router to get open NAT type?
Whenever I play COD Black ops 2 on my xbox 360 my NAT type is strict. I have a centurylink 660 series modem and that is working to its full potential of the bundle we bought from them. I also have an airport extreme (2009). I Know theres all these port forwarding stuff, but whenever I try to do that, my whole network crashes and I have to factory default all of my stuff. So would getting a new router help me? also, I have my airport extreme in bridge mode because It said I have a double NAT and DCHP. So what would be the best solution for getting an open NAT type for Call of Duty on Xbox 360? I also have a MacBook pro (2009).
Yes, that is what I am doing. I don't know the setup details for what you want to do, but I am running a MacBook Pro (late 2008), iPad, and a couple of iPhones on wifi through my Airport Extreme base station. I also run backups to a Time Capsule.
The base station is set up to "Create a wireless network" and runs in "DHCP and NAT" mode. The Time Capsule and two Airport Expresses are set up to "Join a wireless network". My cable modem (Ubee DVW3201b) runs in bridge mode, connected by cable to the WAN port on the base station. I have the wifi capability of the modem disabled. It took me some trial and error to get the cable modem set up properly, but there is a lot of information out on the net. -
Nat Type question for PS3 (wrt610N)
I have the wrt610N on cable internet and am playing Modern Warefare 2 on the PS3. Since day 1 I have had a Type 2 Nat type according to the PS3's internet connection test. Modern Warfare 2 has a Nat Type indicator on the lobby screen and mine has always said Moderate.
Well, after a little research, I forwarded my ports and presto, it said my NAt type was open. Yesterday I accidently unplugged the router and now my lobby screen is saying moderate again. My ports are still forwarded, so I have no idea what is going on. Any ideas?
Someone suggested that I can just go in the router and set it to open, but this does not sound right. Also, I was reading some posts on here and noticed people mentioning something about home network defender in the management tab. I have no such option. Anyone know why?
Solved!
Go to Solution.Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Filter Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 80 and End box type in 80, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
2) On the second line in Application box type in DEF, in the start box type in 443 and End box type in 443, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
3) On the third line in Application box type in GHI, in the start box type in 5223 and End box type in 5223, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
4) On the fourth line in Application box type in JKL, in the start box type in 3478 and End box type in 3479, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
5) On the fifth line in Application box type in MNO, in the start box type in 3658 and End box type in 3658, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
6) On the sixth line in Application box type in PQR, in the start box type in 10070 and End box type in 10080, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box and click on Save Settings
7) Now assign the given ip address on your PlayStation ip address :- 192.168.1.20, subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0, default gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
8) Also assign the dns addresses on the PlayStation Primary dns :- 4.2.2.2...Secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1
9) Turn off your modem, router, and PlayStation...Wait for a minute...
10) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the PlayStation and test it...
** Also reduce the MTU and disable the UPnP on the PS3. -
How to set NAT Type in Airport Express for PS3
I just replaced my existing WiFi router with a Airport Express, using the same log in information, and all other devices includin iPhone and laptop can get on line w/o problem, but my PS3 can not seems to log in for on-line game, and when I check the internet connection settings, it show NAT type failed due to timeout error. I have read some articles about the need to change NAT Type from 3 to 2 or something like that, how can not find in Airport Utilities on how to open up NAT to change its type? anyone can help? Appreciate.
Unfortunately there are no specific NAT settings on the AirPort routers to change the NAT type. On the AirPorts you either have NAT enabled or disabled. Other options would be to use either a DMZ or open specific ports on the AirPort's NAT firewall to allow your PS3 to gain full access to PS3's on-line gaming service.

Changing NAT type from moderate to open for PS3 on...
Hello,
Pretty simple really.
I want to be able to change my NAT type from Moderate to Open whilst playing FIFA 12 on the PS3.
I am using a BT Home Hub 2. I have read various posts about Port Forwarding and DMZ but what is the method that will open the NAT type indefinitely. I have read that it can only be altered temporarily due to the Home Hub updating it's settings periodically and re-enabling the firewall.
Any help or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
