NAT update Messed with automatic back up

as i was working on my mac, a pop up window asking me to update to NAT security for the time capsule. i did this and i got the flashing amber light and could not get online. i used the reset button on time capsule and then reset my airport config. was able to get online. tried to manually back up and got a failed message. went thru this a few more times. finally erased my back ups, thinking that would solve the issue, no luck. tried disk utility - couldn't see TC. any help is appreciated. thanks.

Neither the Time Capsule nor its disk will appear in Disk Utility.
The Time Capsule itself should appear under Shared in Finder and should be discovered by the Airport Utility.
The Time capsule disk should appear in a Finder Window if you click on the Time Capsule name in Finder. The disk should also appear in the Airport Utility -> Manual Setup -> Disks.
Does your TC appear in any or all of these 'venues.'
When a backup fails the little red 'i' nest to failed should reveal a reason if you click on it. The reason may be fairly general but it's a start.
Also the system.log in Console may give more details about the failure. The relevant entries include not only 'Time Capsule', Time machine but also 'backupdb.'

  • Recovery with automatic back up

A few days ago, my computer would not load windows. I was told by a couple different computer techs that I needed to reformat the hard drive due to a virus. I have windows vista on a gateway computer that was bought at best buy a year and a half ago. I used the recovery with automatic back up to save my docs and pics. Now my question is how do I get my pics and docs from the recovery drive? I am at a loss here.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Thats so much of a description its hard to start someplace to explain to you.
Are you saying you ran the recovery partition on your computer to load it to a factory default? If thats the case, its a total destruction of the drive and restored to the time you first opened it out of the box, that means everything gets deleted on the target drive.

  • Problems with automatically backing up ebooks

    Hi,
I just started using Adobe Digital Edition several days ago with version 1.5. And there is a "ebx_backup" folder under "My Digital Editions" which stores the automatically backed-up ebooks files. But yesterday, after i download the new version 1.6 and purchased several others new ebooks afterward, they are no longer automatically backed up and doesn't appear in the "ebx_backup" folder. Is it a bug? How can i solve it? Or can i manually move the .pdf ebooks from "My Digital Editions" to "ebx_backup" folder?
    Thank you.

  • Edge update messed with timing of objects (was: Adobe Edge update - bugs)

Creating simple animations for e-cards and the new update definitely messed with timing of objects, and is creating erroneous instances of symbols.
Still can load the original version and plays fine, but just loading the version in the _updated folder that was created when original version was opened after update is messed up.
Really disappointed with this update, I really dislike doing my work twice.

    Hi Jess
We are investigation the problem and is being tracked in our internal issue tracker.
    Thanks for reporting the same.

  • Firware Update Messed with Fan

Hi All, I just installed the latest friware update for my Macbook.
The fan used to run full speed after a little while of paying a game, or watching a DVD. Now the fan runs FULL speed all the time while doing those things. I can no longer watch a movie or play a game with out a loud whirring sound. This makes for a tough quiet time or when i am in the library.
Does anyone know what to do about the constant noise, or how to unistall the firware update?
    Thanks,
    Pete

My MacBook started doing the same thing after installing the Firmware Update. I read several posts but did not find a solution. I called Apple and here is how we fixed it:
-Disconnect everything from the computer including the AC powercord
-Quit all programs and shut the computer down
-Turn the computer over and take out the battery
-Turn the computer back over with the battery out and open the screen
-Press and hold down the power button for a FULL 5 seconds then release it
-Turn the computer over and put the battery back in
    -Connect the AC power cord
-Press the power button - as soon as you hear the startup chime hold down the Apple key, the option key, the P key, and the R key. When you hear the chime again release all 4 keys.
-You have just reset the PMMU and the PRAM
-My fan has not come back on since!!!!!

  • 10.4.11 update messes with Boot Camp beta

I am posting this again as my post is way down another discussion.
I did the update yeterday without knowing about the bug. Now Windows XP won't start up in boot camp. This is really annoying. Mac OS X boots fine.
So. Can I downgrade from 10.4.11 to 10.4.6 without having to reinstall all the other applications? What about Boot Camp? Is this an option I select from the utilities available on the install disk?
What about archive and install? Will that archive all my applications and data so I don't have to do reinstalls?
Otherwise, what if I upgrade to 10.5? Will this fix the problem without me having to redo the whole Windows installation? There is a lot of data, most of it is backed up but still a pain to restore.
I have looked at other responses to this problem but not found the definitive answer.

What if I do upgrade to 10.5 - will that update the system without having to reinstall Win XP etc?

  • New Update messed with my Application

I tried to open FCE today and an error message came up that says I need a video card compatible with Quartz extreme or something along those lines. That my system doesn't meet the minimum requirements. I've had FCE installed and have been using it for the past two years on the same machine and it is now telling me that its not compatible with my mac and wont open. The same goes for iMovie. I tried opening iMovie and it says it needs that video card that is compatible. This hasn't happened before and I have used both on this mac before without any problem.
I have the Black MacBook purchased I believe in 2008. Never had a problem with Final Cut before and have used it to produce many home movies. Any idea what's wrong/how I can fix it?

I'm running an intel macbook with FCE version 4.0.1 and quicktime version 7.6.6. Im not sure what the updates where but they were the 2 most recent ones within the last two weeks. What's strange is that iMovie isn't working either. I tried pressing escape but nothing worked.

  • Firmware update messed with airport.

After downloading firmware update my airport wont work.
    any ideas???
    thanx in advance

I reset the Airport Router. I downloaded a new Airport Utility. Airport bars come up, but Airport light is flashing amber. When I opened the Utility, it did find the router (whereas before there was no router). I went through the Utility and when it came to "update" I click on continue. Error!!!! Airport lost again.
I reset Airport Router again. Went through Utility but did not update. I know have internet on both computers (had to go through same thing on laptop, but did not click on continue update. Learned my lesson there. I do believe that the problem with the firmware update is the Utility Update. Don't click on continue, wait for Apple to fix it.

  • ICloud update messes with Regional Settings on non-English Windows 7

I have Windows 7 in French.
Since the recent update of iCloud (and also iTunes and Quicktime), my other software (Sage 50 Accounting) is dropping the digits entered after the decimal point.
Strangely, while I have iCloud installed, when I open Sage 50 Accounting first and then select my data file to open, the problem occurs, yet if instead I open the data file directly and let Windows open the associated software (Sage 50 Accounting), the problem doesn't occur.
If I uninstall iCloud, the problem is resolved, however, I'd like to continue using iCloud if possible.
Any ideas what's going on here?

It appears that you did not follow the step in Bootcamp Assistant where you were to download the Windows Support software. You then had to install the Support software from within Windows. Did you do that step? The display drivers are part of the Support software.

  • Security updates messed with dock, peripherals

I installed a security update today for my eMac (OSX Tiger), and upon restart my dock is nowhere to be found (dock preferences show it to be set for bottom loading). In addition, it's not recognizing my HP printer/scanner. Oh, and I cannot minimize any open programs. Weird. Any thoughts?

  • Airport update messes with Magic Mouse swiping

After installing the update and restarting, and having repaired permissions before and after, the swiping function of the MM stopped working. It was necessary to re-install the MM driver in order to get it working again. Anyone else experience this?

Yes! After installing the update just 15 minutes ago the swipe function quit. I have repaired permissions but I guess I will have to re-install the driver too..

  • Updating LAST_ANALYZED with automatic stats gathering

I am looking at the last_analyzed column in dba_tables and it shows some tables have not been analyzed since early April last year. But the scheduler is running the stats gathering program nightly. What gives?

That's probably why. Here is the excerpt from Oracle Documentation regarding the job:
The GATHER_STATS_JOB job gathers optimizer statistics by calling the DBMS_STATS.GATHER_DATABASE_STATS_JOB_PROC procedure. The GATHER_DATABASE_STATS_JOB_PROC procedure collects statistics on database objects when the object has no previously gathered statistics or the existing statistics are stale because the underlying object has been modified significantly (more than 10% of the rows). The DBMS_STATS.GATHER_DATABASE_STATS_JOB_PROC is an internal procedure, but its operates in a very similar fashion to the DBMS_STATS.GATHER_DATABASE_STATS procedure using the GATHER AUTO option. The primary difference is that the DBMS_STATS.GATHER_DATABASE_STATS_JOB_PROC procedure prioritizes the database objects that require statistics, so that those objects which most need updated statistics are processed first. This ensures that the most-needed statistics are gathered before the maintenance window closes.

  • Removing Automatic Backing Bean Updates in Jdev 11.1.2.2.0

    Hi,
in the User Guide and in the book "Jdeveloper 11g Handbook" I'm reading:
    Remove Automatic Backing Bean Updates
    1. Click page.jspx file tab. Click the Design tab
    2. Select Design | Page Properties and click the Component Binding tab. Unselect Auto Bind.
Why I cannot locate Page Properties and the Component Bind tab?
Where is? Can help me with some print screen?
    Thansk in advice

    Hi,
Actually first chance to switch it off is when you create a new page: There is a managed bean tab in which you can do this. For existing pages, open the page in the visual editor and choose Design --> Page Properties from teh JDeveloper menu. In the opened dialog there is a "Component Binding" tab you press
