Nationwide messaging plan.. EQUAL RIGHTS ISSUE?

I noticed this myself recently, and find it to be most unfair to customers..
verizon offers a nationwide messaging plan for feature phones for $34.99 a month.. in which I have recently switched to because I never use my cell to talk.. and it's a better value for me... okay.. here is where it becomes unfair,..
they also offer a nationwide messaging plan for 3G smart phones, but you have to be hearing impaired to get that plan... so basicly what verizon is telling consumers is that if you want a droid phone and want a strictly messaging/data plan.. you have to be DEAF????.... is this the 1950's??? come on, its 2011..
It not at all fair to all your customers.. because the hearing impaired have the choice of featured phone or smart phone with those plans... and the hearing enabled have no choice at all if they want the messaging only plan..
Hearing enabled = featured phone ONLY with nationwide messaging plan
Hearing impaired = your choice of feature phone or 3G smartphone with nationwide messaging plan
does anyone else see this as discriminatory??
EQUAL RIGHTS!!!!
make ALL of the nationwide messaging plans for EVERYONE!
If you are not sure what I am referring to.. here are their plans and who can get what.. it's total ****
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/messagingplans.jsp?lid=//global//plans//more%20plans//nationwide%20messaging

The 3G nationwide messaging plan is $55 because it is for a smart phone.. not because it's for the hearing impaired.. so the cost of the plan wouldn't increase if they removed the restriction.. it includes unlimited data, web, and texting as does the feature phone plan..accept it's for 3G.. and there is no need to add on anything.. this is why I have the feature phone plan myself.. The only service I can see a hearing impaired person needing would be strong vibration functions on their phones to know they got a text or other type of information..that would be a manufacturing issue, not a plan issue..  It's a smart phone, not a hearing enhancement device, and there is no APP for that..not to mention most all phones (feature or 3G) are TTY capable.. they can actually get a voice plan if they so choose to and still have the same ability as everyone else.. and the reason anyone would get the nationwide messaging plan is because they don't use the voice minutes like a lot of people.. but not just the hard of hearing. gee what did people do before smart phones.. they still chose the plans they wanted.. and this is really no different.
The main issue is
Feature phone messaging plan for anyone
3G smartphone  messaging plan for hearing impaired ONLY
But, think about this...
what benefit is the hearing impaired really getting with the plan? technically it is not much different then the feature phone plan accept that it is compatible with 3G smartphones correct.. particularly the OS is android which uses a different type of web browser, according to Verizon's CS this was the reason for the two different types of plans in general..  so why not make both plans for everyone?? here is the reason....
You are correct it is about money for Verizon!!!!
A handicapped parking spot is a convenience for the disabled.. thats a real benefit.. but on the same token, anyone can park right next to that spot and be just as close to the store. that plan is as much of a benefit to the hearing impaired as "colored" bathrooms were to the African Americans before the 1970's... ya.. this is along the same lines...racist people did that as a benefit to themselves only..  the same goes here for Verizon's tactics, only in this case they are using the disabled as a way to save a buck for themselves... does anyone else see that???
Offering the 3G smart phone side of the nationwide messaging plan to ONLY the hearing impaired is a convenience for VERIZON ONLY and has nothing at all to do with any kind of benefits for the disabled person!! The ONLY benefit is the restriction itself right.. smartphones are not considered "hearing aids" or "hearing enhancement devices" to benefit the deaf. The plan should be for everyone who has a smartphone on Verizon and wishes to have a no-voice minutes plan simply because that plan itself is for ALL 3G smartphones on the Verizon network... I am pretty sure there are NO special phones for the hearing impaired person... they have what we have, and we should be able to have that plan as well  as they do... the calling plans do not state "for the hearing only" do they... so same goes for this plan...
the restrictions should be removed.

  • Can I use my Nationwide Messaging plan for the iPhone 4?

I currently have a plan called Nationwide Messaging (you get unlimited texting and data for $35 a month, and minutes are 40 cents each) which works well for me since I rarely use my phone to talk.
All the iPhone FAQ says is that you need a Nationwide plan, which I have, and a data package, which is already included in my plan. So will this work for the iPhone?

You'd have to upgrade to the smartphone version of that plan for $55/month since the $35 plan is for regular phones and it looks like they're are added requirements to be eligible for that one.

"Who is eligible to sign up for the Nationwide Messaging Plan?
In order to establish your eligibility for the Blackberry or PDA Smartphone plan, please bring either a letter indicating that you are hearing impaired on appropriate letter head from your audiologist, hearing health professional, speech or language therapist/specialist, physician, surgeon, vocational rehabilitation agency counselor, teacher or credentialed therapist; or (ii) your membership card for the National Association of the Deaf, Hearing Loss of America, AG Bell, Association of Late Deafened Adults, Telecommunications for the Deaf, Inc or other similar group.
No eligibility is required for the $34.99 Consumer plan."

  • Messaging Plan needed to send photos via e-mail?

I'm new to the mobile broadband community and would like to know if I can attach photos taken on my phone to an e-mail.  I have little interest in transmitting photos from my phone to other phones and I do not use text, so I am thinking I really don't need to get a messaging plan.  Right or wrong?

Yes absolutely. You can always attach a photo via an E-mail just as you would on a computer. However, remember the size of the photos you are sending [i.e. File size!]. Sending a photo via E-mail will count towards your data cap whatever that may be on your plan. Photos, several of them, and just E-mail attachments in general can add up quickly so be sure to stay under your data limit to avoid extra fees.
    Happy E-mailing,

  • Messaging/plan issues

I currently pay $59.99 for my plan, which includes unlimited messaging.  While pre-ordering, it makes me choose a messaging option.   Does anyone know if this is necessary with the data plan and messaging plan?
Also, the question is out there about th 19% state discount.  Anybody have an answer?
    Thanks!

There is an application called "SMSExport" give a search on Google and you will find one. This application exports all your text messages in .txt format to a folder of your choice on the memory card. You can then copy and paste the .txt files to your PC for permanent storage.

    Hello
The Unlimited USA/Canada Subscription @$2.99/month is the correct one for you. Our Subscriptions are designed to operate from any location worldwide. A few countries block outbound VoIP traffic on a temporary basis. You may find this issue in the UAE and Oman.
TIME ZONE - US EASTERN. LOCATION - PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA.
I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac

  • Standalone Messaging Plan Price Changes??

Am i right that VZW has eliminated its standalone unlimited text messaging plan for $20 per line per month (which i understand you can get as a bundle) and replaced it with it with a 5000 text (plus unlimited VZW to VZW texting) for $20 per line per month?

AFAIK, the $20 add on has always been 5000 + unlimited M2M - unlimited is available on the Talk & Text plans for $20 more than the Talk plan for an individual line (which is basically what you are looking for) or $30 more for a family plan for unlimited on all lines.
The only situation I can see the $20, 5000 text plan making sense is on a family plan where only ONE line needed the texting.  Otherwise it's more cost effective to pay $30 and have unlimited for all rather than add ons for each line.
As an individual plan, you'll pay $20 more to add on  5000 to a Talk plan, or $20 to switch to Talk & Text for unlimited - no-brainer to go for the unlimited . . .

  • Please fix your web plugin immediately, yes this message in the right forum

    Ok.
On my mac, java takes about 5-10 seconds to load in a web page applet from either safari or chrome.
This is 4.9 to 9.9 seconds too long.
PC is a bit faster but not much.
Sun absolutely wrecked java with respect to the web-client.
    Please fix this.
Why: Because I want to write web-apps which don't suck. Which means I can't use javascript. Because despite the gajillions of money poured into marketing, it is really very, very slow.
    How to fix:
    It is very easy.
    1. Use PhoneME with JIT. (get startup time to near zero). You might say, "well, we're about to get java to have zero startup time." But this is what you have been saying for ever, and failing at, miserably! Stop trying, give us a JavaME plugin instead.
    2. Do NOT distribute monolithic massive class libraries. Instead, give me the opportunity to create class loaders. (I know you think you already do, but please look up the 10 year old bugs regarding the web plugin and class loaders). Make the distributable as SMALL as possible.
    3. Are you writing the pluginin "in-between" code in webkit? If you are, fire who ever is writing it. If you aren't, WTF, the connection between the browser and java is slow as a slug. If I was just a bit more of a cynic I would think google is putting in usleep(1000) between calls. Take this code over NOW.
Look, you STILL have a tremendous opportunity in the web-client-space.
You need to show that Java is BETTER than javascript. Which it could be.
    But currently it sucks.
It uses too much memory, it has a slow startup time, the connection between javascript and java is slow.
I should be able to write <script type="jar.pack.gz/java" src="blahblah.jar.pack.gz"></script> and multiply my performance by a thousand. Please do it.
I should be able to use a java2javascript library to simplify modifying the dom.
I shouldn't have to write javascript, except for inline code.
BUT INSTEAD I'M SPENDING MY TIME OPTIMIZING GWT.
Javascript sucks, we all know it is rising because of a vacuum of any real performance.
Please fill this void, or someone else will.
    Thanks,
    -tim

  • Print to PDF in acrobat X has rights issues

    Hi all,
I can print a Test Page from the driver window but I can not print to PDF from Framemaker 10 originally and now IE8, word, etc. don't work too.
Win 7 64 bit - We have 4 systems with this issue.
I believe this maybe a rights issue. I had Distiller 'Run as Admin' and I stopped being able to print to file. Reversed it and it fixed it.
I was testing my failure to print FM10 at time. I started changing rights to print and instead lost the ability to print to PDF for IE8 and Office 2007 apps, etc.
I just reinstalled Techcom suite 3. I loaded it as 'Admin'. It now behaves as I described in the first sentence. I believe the registry keeps the rights settings on the reinstall.
    Thanks,
    Jim

There is nothing to activate the AcroTray.
Most if not all are running 32-bit.
Are you talking about the coping the whole 'Abobe PDF' directory in the All Users.

  • Text Messaging Plans - Which plan would be best for me?

I tried looking all over the Verizon website but only found nation-wide plans for text messaging.
I currently pay $9.99 Data Package (Mobile Email) which I hardly use for my Samsung Reality phone. I saw that the offer said "Mandatory Data Package" so I asked the Best Buy Verizon representative there - he told me that even when Verizon says it's "mandatory", there are ways to get around it and that it wasn't mandatory. SO I foolishly thought he canceled it for me, later to find out we were billed for the $9.99 package. I called Verizon but to no avail, I was told it was mandatory. Enraged, I decided to just make the best of it. :'(
    1. Can I replace the $9.99 Data Package with a text messaging plan instead?
    2. What text messaging plans are available, and how much do they cost?
    3. Are there any text messaging plans that cover all four lines for me and family members? Or two? - Perferably cheapest and limited.
    Reasons:
    - My parents (two lines) don't see it necessary to use text messaging. So maybe a text messaging plan for two lines (for my sister and me).
    - I know there are times when sending a text is much more convenient and for college, I keep finding it more and more useful to have (i.e. professors that accept texts as urgent communication, texting a roommate or friends to ask a quick question without having to feel as if you've called them in class or at a wrong time, etc .. and also to text my family to let them know I'm okay when we're all busy with our lives (calling would be best of course!)) - (as well as it's social benefits ;D ) SO I'm wondering if there is any plan that would best fit the needs of my family members & myself.

If you have Talk minutes only you can add:
$5/mo for 250 texts (sent and received)
$10/mo for 500 texts PLUS unlimited texts M2M
    $20/mo for 5000 texts PLUS unlimited M2M
This is per line, and each line on a family plan can have its own bundle.
It makes more sense to bump up to the Talk & Text plan and get unlimited texting on all lines, if you have 3 or more phones and everyone likes to text! You have to determine what you can afford, how much texting you will do to figure out what will work for you.
If you can get by with 250 texts a month, the $5 plan may work (but they go fast, believe me!!)  For $10, you can have 500 texts plus all your texts between you and your sister and other Verizon phones are not part of the 500 limit, they are unlimited.
For $30 (the cost increase from the Talk plan to the Talk & Text plan), all of the phones on your family plan will  have unlimited texting to anyone on any network.  My suggestion would be to try the limited plans first, then bump it up if you keep getting close or going over your limit.

  • Nokia Messaging Plan cancelled

    Hi,
I have set up Nokia messaging with my former E63. Some month ago I got my new E72. When I set up mail it said that I already have an account that I can use. So did I.
Now I got an automatically generated mail that said my old phone is used by someone else but my mail is secure. The account is cancelled. I can still log in but the original status: "Nokia messaging plan bought with phone" is cancelled.
So I set up a new account but now the status is: TEST.
    Thats not acceptable.
How do I get my old account re-activated?

Same thing happened to me after i changed my phone from E63 to E72, i called their support in my country, gave my master email address (that i used to create the acoount, same one you use to log into the administration page), my new IMEI, and they activated back on. The only this is now on Profile i have "Nokia messaging tiral", but i used to have "Nokia messaging subscription purchased with device". I called back, they said it's ok it's not a trial and it won't close. My account is back on now, i hope it will stay on !

  • COI activity - change in capitalization (Rights issue)

    Hi,
Please can you provide a solution to handle the following business scenario. (SAP help documentation mentions that the product does not support the decrease in stake resulting from change in capitalization)
How to handle Rights Issue resulting in stake dilution of holding company?
Business Scenario - Co. A has 80% stake in company B (at first consolidation level)
Company B issues additional equity(rights issue) which is not exercised by Co. A. This is bought by others(minority)
As a result, the stake of Co. A in B decreases from 80% to say 60%(dilution of stake of A)
Can you please tell how should the AFD(in terms of COI activity numbers/types) be provided to handle this situation. Because for activity - Increase in capitalization - SAP standard says that the % shareholding doesnt change.
    Waiting for your valuable inputs.
    Thanks
    AJ

    Hi AV,
I'll try to give the entire scenario in detail -
Co. A is parent company of Co. B (100% subsidiary)
    First acquisition -
    Investment data 100000
    Equity share capital - 100000
    Reserves  23205
    hence, total equity - 71795
Goodwill posted after first conso 28205
Next period - Co. B increases its equity share capital by -50000
which is provided to system in AFD with CI activity 05
Co. A's share gets diluted because all additional equity is taken by external parties.
Say it gets diluted to 82.11%
So in investment data I provided -17.89% as change in shares, with activity type 10 and investment value zero.
System posts two docs - one for increase in capitalization and another for partial divestiture
    1. Increase in capitalization document -
    Equity share capital is reversed(+50000)
and entire -50000 goes in negative goodwill (since the investment was zero)
    2. Partial divestiture document - 8945 (17.89% of 50000)is posted in "Profit from divestiture" and Minority interest is also created of 8945
This doesnt serve my purpose of "Dilution of stake resulting from additional equity issued by subsidiary company"
Goodwill posted earlier(in first conso) is not getting affected?
Please give me some inputs because this is a very common business scenario..and whoever has done a BCS implementation must have tested for this scenario...
    Regards
    AJ

I tried every obvious solution to this problem with different types of disc (-R; +R; -RW and +RW) and the problem persisted.  Then I read about removing a hyphen in picture filenames.  I renamed all the images and bingo there were no further problems.  Apple should have solved this by now.  This error code has been reported for several years and my MacBook Pro is quite new.  Anyway, I hope this helps.  It does work.

To be clear and for other readers,  Messages has dropped the number of Styles to three.
Compact and Boxes are styles that have you and the Chatee on the left and the messages themselves are left justified.
Balloons is the default (Speech bubble stylee), as mentioned, and your part of the chat or conversation is on the right but is also Right Justified.

  • Is BI Integrated Planning / STS right tools for this kind of application

    Hi Everyone,
I need your advise/help. I need to create a simple web application to do as below:
    1) Data Entry Form on web - Enter / Edit / Delete data i.e. order entry
    2) Save the data in BW cube or datastore
    3) E-mail to Managers for approvals
    4) Click a button to approve
    5) Retrieve the data from BW and show it as a web report
Is BI Integrated Planning / STS right tools for this kind of application?  If yes, can you please recommend some documentations?; if no, Which tool will be the best fit for this kind of requirement?
    Thanks a Million, Jin Freda

STS allows you to lock/release/approve one set of plan data (say many records). I thought your requirement is to approve individual order documents. configuring this in STS would be unnecessarily complicated I think.
Similarly IP is to work on a set of data (say all order quantity for a region or period), not for individual orders. Building all the checks and validations that you would probably want in an order entry may not be easy to build in IP.
VC or Webdynpro can't post to a infocube. They can certainly write to a transactional ODS (which probably would be a better place to write such data).
I have limited knowledge of your requirement so can't say whether it is a problem - probably not a show-stopper. If you are entering a set of orders in one go, may be IP is appropriate, but if you are looking for an application where users may be posting individual orders at random times, IP would be a bad choice I think.

  • I have the iphone 2g with the $20 unlimited data plus 200 texts, is there any way to keep the tiered text messaging plan when I upgrade to the iphone 4s?

I have the original iphone on AT&T with the $20 unlimited data with 200 text messages.  I know that I can keep the unlimited data plan when I upgrade to the iphone 4s, but I would also like to keep my 200 text message plan.  Is there any way for me to keep this feature?  Also on the original Iphone, I could upgrade to the unlimited data plan with 1500 text messages, if I upgrade this feature, will it extend my contract?
    Thanks,
    Ray
