Native Exchange support on new Blackberry Models?

Greetings, I have been told by a coworker that all newer Blackberry phones support synchronization with a Microsoft Exchange Server natively. Probably through OWA, though i'm not certain. We're not talking about BES servers or BIS accounts, just pure native support on the phone itself. As in, input OWA address, username, and password, and BINGO! all your mail, contacts, calendar entries sync beautifully between the phone and the server. Is this true? If so, how do I set this up? If not, I'll have to go another route and install BES. Basically, I need three separate Blackberry devices to be able to sync their e-mail, contacts, and calendar with a 2010 Exchange Server, if there is another way of doing this without using BES, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

There is no way to wirelessly synchronize  your contacts, calendar, tasks or memo pad using the BlackBerry Internet Service. The only way for wireless synchronization to take place from Microsoft Exchange to your BlackBerry device is to use the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Hope this helps.

  • Corus360 releases Remote360 support for new Blackberry devices

Atlanta, Friday 13th, 2010 - Corus360, a RIM Select Alliance Partner based in Norcross, has released an update to their Remote360 software which allows it to be now used for support of the new BlackBerry 6 OS and the new BlackBerry Torch smartphones being released by AT&T later this week.
Remote360 is an award winning software that was created by a team of developers at Corus360 and is currently in use by several companies in the United States and other countries to support their BlackBerry® users.
“Corus360’s investment in developing Remote360, an application that can greatly reduce the time to resolution for mobile device issues, results in both time and cost savings for our clients,” said Ted Chappell, EVP, Professional Services of Corus360.
Remote360 allows Help Desk and administrators to remotely control BlackBerry® devices out in the field to troubleshoot and resolve issues, train users and even locate lost devices. Remote360, similar to remote desktop for laptop/PC support, allows support personnel to operate the devices as if they have them in their hands. BlackBerry® 6 is the latest OS released by RIM (Research in Motion, the makers of BlackBerry) and Remote360 has the capability of supporting this OS. The BlackBerry® Torch, their new device, which comes pre-installed with BlackBerry® 6 will go on sale this Thursday by AT&T. AT&T has an exclusive to carry the new Torch and it was announced this past week in a press conference with RIM.

  • Debating whether to get a new blackberry... common Torch issues? what happens to support/warranty if RIM goes under?

Hi, thinking of getting a new Blackberry but I'm a bit nervous of buying into a potentially buggy phone with all the rumours of RIM going belly up.
What have been the most typical issues with Torch, especially the newer models?
I know with my Curve, as much as I've loved it, it is only a year old and has had problems with randomly rejecting its SIM card (new SIM card = $$$ and pain in the butt to have to go visit the store etc.), track pad stops working at times, keyboard backlight stops working at times (usually when I'm in the dark of course), and now the display is hooped.  So, maybe that extended warranty would have been worth it but since I still have to pay out the remainder of my contract on that phone before I can get new, I'm thinking that diving into another Blackberry adventure could be problematic even WITH extended warranty if support will no longer be available for it?
On the other hand, I DON'T like the layout of iphone, and I found Blackberry to be pretty intuitive to learn and use comfortably, plus the price is right on my phone plan at the moment.  IF ongoing support is going to be available, I would prefer to stick it out with Blackberry.
What is the latest on RIM and what is proposed in terms of warranty on new phones?

  • Supported Blackberry models in CUMA

    Hi,
I am using CUMA 7.1.3.10000-11 in my environment and would like to use Cisco Mobile 7 on Blackberry devices. When I select a country (India) and service providers, I don't see any Blackberry models in Phone Make/Model (I see only Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1).
    1) To see Blackberry devices in Phone Make/Model, do I need to upgrade my version?
    2) If Blackberry supports, can you please guide me what are the blackberry models support in India to use CUMC? So that my company can procure those BB devices. It would be nice for me if I have a document which shows me the BB models support in different countries including India.
    Thanks,
    Mady

MDS is needed as this is how the BB connects to use the app. It installed with the initial setup if i remember correctly and im positive it is there.
also, yes, i have seen the EOL which kinda sucks. Im using Cisco Mobile 7 currently.
"Cisco's recommended migration path is to use RIM's MVS 5.0 client. I believe that MVS 5.0 requires BES Enterprise and that it won't work with BES Express. I think that MVS client is that in addition to all the "cool" call handling features, it is just for VoWLAN calls, not even over 3G, which means that all the CUMC features like mobile presence, visual voicemail, corporate directory access, and access to office call logs are all gone? Do you know anything about this?"
    - Im still reading about this but i dont think this would be entirely correct. I think the difference would be that it enables the BB to be a SIP client versus what CUMA is currently doing. it also does require Enterprise. From reading as well, i think it will still support over 3G but it gives the option for WI-FI now ( this is my interpretation). The basics should still be there as it should now really be a true extension of your IP Phone.
My issue here is that im from the Caribbean and we DONT have MVS at all available. Ive sent a few emails to RIM as well and it seems as though it isnt even being considered at this time.
Cisco recommended Jabber as the new client but this would be for all the other phones with the exception of BlackBerry. Im speaking to Cisco presently to see how our region would be supported for even the next year. (since i got this working ive pitched this to a multitude of customers and im positive ill be getting some good feedback - its kind of terribly embarrassing now that i have to tell clients that what ive been working on for so long is now EOL).
Again, i have all installed on the work lab so if you need any assistance ill be will to assist. NOTE: this is actually the first time ive installed and it took me a while to get a hang of what was actually needed vs what wasnt. for instance, all documents pointed to ASA and i only installed BES to deploy the application since i was getting a permissions issue. surpirsingly, when it installed the BES everything worked, but i noticed my ASA was off....lol... that's funny. i think at that time i realised what BES was actually doing....lol....again....i know a lot of guys might be laughing but i then understood that the ASA and BES was one of the same when it came to BB.
you can still install the BB client using your normal BB Manager and use the ASA for communication if you can set the permissions correctly. i found it easier to get rid of the ASA and have the BES do everything - works great by the way.
i also have a Nokia E65 working but this DOES require the ASA.

  • How to ask Apple to support new phone models?

    Dear reader,
I have a SonyEricsson K850i and a W890i, the first is a year old now and still isn't supported by iSync.
How can I ask Apple to support these 'new' phones? Will they be added to the www.apple.com/isync/devices.html list automatically?
    Thanks and greetings, Levi.

Both of these phone are already supported by iSync since their release via an iSync Phone Plugin from here.
It's unlikely that Apple will add support for these phones. As you have noticed, they are anything from a few months to many years behind with their support for 'new' phones. (Maybe they want you to buy the iPhone!)
That's why Apple created the iSync Plugin architecture for third-party developers to add support for new phones, without waiting for iSync updates from Apple.

  • New Blackberry, huge increase in data usage

    Hi,
After 2 years with a Blackberry 8520, which I just used to keep track of emails and browse occasionally, I have upgraded to a Blackberry 9720.  With the 8520, my data usage each month never went above 33MB, so the advisor I saw at EE said that I could reduce the data allowance to 100MB and still have plenty.  Since having the new phone, I have been checking the data usage with an Orange app and after just 5 days, I am at 20MB used.  This is despite me uninstalling any other applications that may use data and deliberately avoiding the browser.  Even about 10 emails a day without attachments are hitting me for 2 to 3MB data usage.
Does the 9720 still use compressed data - I know the new OS10 models don't - as that is what I was told.  If it does, is there anything else it could be?  I'm now thinking that getting a new phone is going to cost me 10 times the data I used to use even if I don't use even half the functionality.
Good job I didn't throw away the 8520 as I might be resurrecting it: it may have been as basic as they come but it least it didn't cost me a fortune in out-of-bundle data...
    Rich Goodchild.

    Lots of reasons.
    The 9720 is using 3G and 4G network isn't?
Your 8520 used EDGE, not even 3G. Lots more data can move in 3G and 4G.
The 9720 is a more media savvy device, more data will be used. And it's brand new? You're using it more.

  • Hearing aid compatibility being ignored as new Blackberry devices are released...

I'm very disappointed in both Research in Motion and the cell phone carriers for making the newer Blackberry devices all M3 and  not M4/T4.
M4/T4 is the best hearing aid compatibility rating.  M3 is just average.
In the past, Blackberries have been M4/T4 rated and I've been very happy with the company for their support.
However, the newer models being released, including but not limited to the Curve 9700 and the Bold 9650 are all M3.
The Blackberry 8830 was M4/T4, then its successor, the Tour 9630 was M3, and sure enough the successor of that, the Bold 9650 is M3.
The Storm (both versions) devices are also M3.
I was researching the phones released by Blackberry; all new phones are M3.  None are M4.  However, if you are content with an older model, like the 8830 for example, they are still sold by the cell phone carriers.
The cell phone carriers work with RIM to determine how high the hearing aid compatibility rating should be.  Cheaper materials lead to lower ratings.  If the cell phone carriers and RIM used higher quality hardware, they could easily get the M4/T4 rating!
I've heard that the higher quality hardware really is not that much more.
These companies need to realize that M3 is not enough and that M4/T4 is the rating they should be striving for when developing phones!
I prefer newer models when I am eligible to upgrade because their onboard memory is often faster, their cameras are often better, and support for technology is better, etc.
So, I am just so disappointed that Blackberry has decided to back away from M4/T4 and offer M3!
This is unacceptable and both RIM and the carriers need to know this!
I have written my carrier to let them know about this.  Hopefully, the Blackberry devices will start being M4/T4 again, which they should be!

  • New Blackberry 10

Does anyone know when the new Blackberry 10 is supposed to be coming out?
I would like to have this one as my next phone from the reviews that I have read about it. I found that when comparing Blackberry marketing to other mobile phone companies, Blackberry seems to be sort of slow to introduce new models and features.

  • A few suggestion from a new BlackBerry 10 user.

Hello everyone. Im a new BlackBerry user and BB Z10 is my first BlackBerry device ever. I moved from Android to BB 10. BlackBerry 10 is a nice OS but some of the basic things are not functioning  correct even after 1 year of release. I will mention some here.
I can type first letter of my message/note etc in small alphabet letters. No matter what i do first letter (after full stop or first letter itself doesnt matter) is typed in full alphabetical letter. thats a big pain and it isn't solved yet.
When you are deleting a written text like you typed a message but you want to delete the first 3 or 4 words and you press and hold the backspace key on your BB 10 keyboad, it deletes the 3 or 4 words but if you dont release the key then it also starts deleting other words as well. well show a video demo if you don't understand what im saying.
there is led light but i don't see much use of it. its only used for notfications and only one light is used Red and there is no built-in led pattern editor. BlackBerry should atleast add a charging and battery full indicator as its very useful and must have one for led notification lights.
File transferring via BB link is toooo much slow. only 300 to 600 kb/s which too much slow. Improve this. I dont know whether its BB link issue or BB 10 issue.
No Built-In backup app. Come on BlackBerry even Asha 200 have a Built in backup manager.
Thats it for now. I will update post when i will find something else. BlackBerry 10 is really a nice OS. Its smooth and Fluid, swipe gestures are great. Im in love with my Z10.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1. You "can not"?  That's not a bug. Just backspace and type the letter again, and it might require a third try, but it will work. That won't change, it's not a bug, it is intentional.
    2. I understand, you are holding down the backspace key too long. Tap to set your cursor at the end of the words to delete. Swipe ONE finger across the keyboard from right side to left side to delete ONE word. Use two finger swiping right to left to delete TWO words.
    3. There several third-party LED control and notification apps, BeBuzz, Hub++, and others. Check your App World.
    4. Transferring via the USB cable? Doing so over WiFi is quicker in my experience. If you need help with this, please ask.
    5. Link has a built in backup. In the past, Protect would backup over the air, but not on BlackBerry10 OS devices. I use FireChest Backup, for good and varied backup options.
The z10 is a great device, glad to hear you're enjoying it.

  • New Blackberry user - my BBM is not working! Please help

    Hello,
I've purchased my new blackberry yesterday morning. Then at afternoon I plugged it into the charger and started using.
I sent my new bb pin to my friends and they said they sent me their contact requests to my bbpin but I'm not receiving anything.
I also can't send any pin message. It says "service is blocked" in red.
Please does anyone know why this problem is happening?
    Thanks!!

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as additional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
    Good luck.

  • Is it possible to upgrade an old PB G4 to support a new iTouch?

Is it possible to upgrade an old PB G4 to support a new iTouch?
I understand I can upgrade the RAM and upgrade the internal drive.  But I don't know if that is sufficient to run a newer version OS...which ever that might be.  I think the newer ones need a dual core intel chip to run?  I plan to give my daughter a new iTouch but since I already have maxed out devices on my laptop, I thought I would just update my old PowerBook G4.

No. The current iPod touch models require Mac OS X 10.6.8, which requires an Intel Mac.

  • Transfer old blackberry device data to new BlackBerry 10 device, without old blackberry device

    Hello,
I recently bought a new BlackBerry Q10, I had a BlackBerry Bold 9790 running on OS 7 before this and I had backed it up from BlackBerry Desktop Software. I had no knowledge that BlackBerry 10 devices don't work with BlackBerry Desktop Software, so I sold my Bold 9790 and then bought a Q10. I need to recover all the data of my old Bold 9790 to my Q10, but sadly Q10 doesn't work with BlackBerry Desktop Software. If I download BlackBerry Link it will ask me to connect my old device to transfer files.
So basically I need to transfer the backup file of my old phone to the new phone.
    Please help me out. Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First, the device has been out for over a year and a half.  BlackBerry has put the information out there.  I easily found the information below with a quick Google search that brought up this article, KB33322
While it hasn't yet been updated to reflect the latest update to Link, I made a few minor changes to the instructions to get to the same options in the new version of Link.
Media Files saved on the device internal memory will be transferred if you check the box for "Media files saved on internal memory."  Media files saved under Content Store on the old device will not.
    Here are the instructions:
Connect the BlackBerry 10 smartphone to the computer using the USB cable.
At the left side of the BlackBerry Link screen, click name of the BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
Select Restore Device > Legacy Device Backup Files.
    Select the desired backup file.
Select the data to restore to the BlackBerry 10 smartphone. To restore all supported data, select the Restore all data check box.  To choose the data to restore select Custom Restore.
Note: For a description of the BlackBerry smartphone databases, refer to KB03974.
    Click Restore.

Hi, I got my new blackberry 10. I can't open it. I only have a black screen with a drawing connecting the mobile to a computer. I tried to connect it to the Blackberry Link but is not connecting. What to do...?

  • New Blackberry Z10 User (Multiple Questions)

    1.  I used to be able to input all my email accounts online.  For example sprint.blackberry.com.  I tried att.blackberry.com; however, it indicates my operating system is no longer supported with my new device.  Does anyone know when this capability will be available for the BB Z10?
    2.  Since I no longer have access to number 1, does anyone know if I can automatically have messages I send from my phone to be forwarded or blind copied back to me?  I need to keep a record of all emails sent.  I found the email signature option - just not the blind bcc option.  This was previously avaialble with the online functionality.
    3.  When using the new Blackberry Link software... does anyone know if I can view all the changes that will be applied to my device?  For example, I used to be able to select get details for confirm calendar edits prior to accepting the synchronization.  This is extremely helpful for me since I bill based on what is in the calendar.  Having the system just place information on my calendar will not allow me to easily find what needs has been added, deleted or changed for billing, etc.  I REALLY NEED THIS FEATURE!  Is there any other way to obtain it?  I tried view the information in the log files; however, it doesn't present the changes in an easy to read format as it used to.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

What you are referring to is a function of BIS, which was required for legacy devices. BIS is not used on BB10 devices...hence, nothing associated with BIS applies to BB10 devices. To specifically answer your question...I believe the answer is never.

Again, that auto-BCC function was provided by BIS, which is not used in BB10. Hence, you must find another method. Typically, the solution is provided by your email server...you would have to talk to that admin to find out if such is available to you.

The LINK software is very different from the legacy BB Desktop Software. What you see is what is available.
