Native Instruments Guitar Rig 5 VST Greyed out?

Hi,
I am on the verge of uninstalling audition cs 5.5 and moving to cubase for just over £400.00. I have read alot about how some of the features not included in this version compares to Audition 3.0 but thats ok with me ...as long as the basics work such as VST plugins. A basic requirement. I have tried both the 32 bit and 64 bit plugin. The 64-bit VST plugin isnt even recognised? the 32 bit is recognised but is greyed out.
I know some VST plugins are greyed out if the wrong settings are used. e.g. stero/mono, 41000, 48000 etc. but have tried different variations.
Can anyone help?

Yes, except when Adobe released Audition 3. And how MIDI in Audition 3 was in the way of audio editing or radio broadcasting?
Debatable...
"Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced Adobe® Audition® 3  software, a major new release of the all-in-one solution for  professional audio production. Adobe Audition 3 is designed to give  audio professionals — sound designers, recording and mastering  engineers, and musicians — a flexible production toolkit for recording,  mixing, editing, and mastering audio. With comprehensive audio mastering  and restoration capabilities, Adobe Audition 3 helps professionals  create music and radio spots, as well as restore imperfect recordings  with sophisticated editing tools.  New features include VSTi virtual  instrument support with MIDI piano roll, enhanced spectral editing  options, fast fade and crossfade controls, and advanced multi-core  support."
And it goes on in that vein. The closest it gets is the bit that I highlighted, and the word 'support', and nowhere anywhere does it mention music creation per se at all. I'd grant you that it gets close - but only in the sense that Loopology was supported - which is pretty much the sense in which you have to read the bit that says "Adobe Audition 3 allows audio professionals to easily create and arrange music, record and mix a project, produce a radio spot, clean up production audio for a movie, or edit a soundtrack for a business presentation."
And a lot of people would disagree with the sentiment that it was 'easy'...

  • Using Native Instruments' Guitar Rig 4 as a VST Plug-in

    Hello,
Does anyone know how to get Native Instruments' Guitar Rig 4 to work as a VST plug-in? I scanned the containing folder for the plug-in and Audition said it was active, but when I scroll through effects and selct VST, but when I try to select Guitar Rig 4 it is grayed and I can't select it. What, if any, are some solutions to this problem? Thanks for any assistance provided.

As far as I can make out (although it's hard to tell from their website, which is less than forthcoming) Guitar Rig is a VSTi, not a VST and as such, you need music software to run it, not Audition - which is an editor.

The system extension "/system/library/Extensions/AppleUSBthernetHost.text" was installed improperly and cannot be used.
Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product vendor for an update.
I do not have a copy of the OS X 10.6.8 software. It is second hand so I have no product vendor to contact.
    What can I do?

You recently updated iTunes to v.11.4? This message has popped up on many a Mac screen when this version was first made available, because this kext was obviously faulty.
You should try to download iTunes 11.4 again from Apple's website: the new version bears the same name, but this kernel extension has been updated, and the issues it was causing are now a thing of the past.
    Should solve your problem, too...

  • No input signal (relates to Native Instruments Guitar Rig 5)

    Hi
I have scoured the net and this forum for solutions to this bizarre problem, but found nothing that solved my problem. Alos posted this question on the Native Instruments forum, but have had no replies).
    Tech details:
I have a MAC Mini 10.8.3. My audio Interface is a Steinberg UR22. I use Logic Pro 9.1.8.
I have downloaded the GR 5 demo. It shows up and loads fine in Logic. Unfortunately, however, there is no input signal at all coming through to GR. Input and output paths in both MAC and Logic are all switched correctly to Steinberg. Audio Software Monitoring is also selected in Logic Audio. I have also selected and deselected the L and R channel icons in GR with no results, still no input signal. I have swapped audio input channel on the Steinberg. The cable works and is plugged in so it's not one of those Duh! moments either.
Now the funny part: As mentioned, when I open GR inside a Logic project, I get no input signal.
However, when i go to my NU folder and open GR there, I do get an input signal. I also get the 'file' etc tabs at the top and am able to check settings etc (which of course you can't do when you open GR inside Logic). However, any changes made in GR when it is opened in the folder do not affect the GR opened inside Logic, so there is no point changing anything in the settings.
The only other strange thing is that in the GR that does have an input signal...it plays both the GR sound that is selected as well as the 'dry' guitar sound, therefore messing up the real sound.
The fact that I do get a signal in GR when I open it outside of Logic does not help me at all, I need a signal in GR inside of the Logic project so i can make a test recording.
Does anyone here have a any suggestion or tips please?

First... when a plugin is used in Logic it is not standalone, in other words, If you aren't getting signal into Logic the plugin will not receive signal on it's own, that's not the way it works. The GR demo is inserted in Logic's signal path, if the signal is not getting into logic it's not going through the GH.
Alos, Logic runs indepently from the Mac's Audio preferences, so it doesn't matter what you set the Mac's system preferences to, it's only matters how you have Logic's preferences set.
    go here:

Also, go here and make sure you're using the latest driver:

  • Audition CS5.5 and Guitar Rig 4/5

I've just installed AA CS5.5 as a trial, and I found a strange conflict with Native Instruments Guitar Rig VST plugin. The software recognizes the plugin smoothly in the plugin manager, but it just stays greyed out, so I can't use it.
I've tried with Guitar Rig 4 & 5, with no luck. Both work perfectly on Adobe Audition 3. I'm using Windows XP SP3 and M-Audio Fast Track Pro with ASIO drivers. Anybody experiencing the same issue?

Okay, I've spent some time this morning looking at Guitar Rig 5 in CS5.5 and CS6.  Guitar Rig can install a lot of flavors of audio plug-in depending on your need.  Audition only cares about the VST and Audio Unit (on Mac.)
There was an issue we found in Audition CS5.5 where some effects don't properly report their channelization.  While not technically an Audition bug (it's part of the VST spec, I believe) we were not trapping these wayward plug-ins, which is why you saw Guitar Rig listed, but disabled.  We addressed this issue in Audition CS6 by catching plug-ins that do not respond to channel requests as expected and assigning them as appropriate.
Guitar Rig is now enabled in Audition CS6 VST Effects List
More importantly, Audition CS6 opens up some pretty impressive effect channelization options which allow you to route the channels of a file into an effect in any manner you like.  This allows you full control over which channel is assigned to which effect input, and which channel the output should be applied.
Feeding a 5.1 file into a Mono effect now enables precise control over channel routing.
Full control over 5.1 files into 5.1 effects as well.  Any combination of channelizations and effects should work well.
Lastly, here's Guitar Rig 5 running in Audition CS6.  While it definitely works, I do not recommend modifying this particular guitar track.  Much like trying to pitch correct Freddie Mercury, Keith Richards guitar work does not benefit from additional processing

  • NI Guitar Rig Pro 4 as a plug -n for Logic Studio/Garageband?

    Hi,
I have Logic 9 and use AmpDesigner/Pboard via an Apogee GIO for both my guitar and bass - Sounds great. However I've just been goofin around with a mate on his Macbook Pro using Native Instruments Guitar Rig 4 with their Control 3 foot pedal - ummm don't wanna say this but that sounds great too! I really like the interface and patch library and some of the presets did sound bloody great to me.
    So my question is ...
Is it possible to use NI Guitar Rig v4 in Logic 9 studio/mainstage? as a plugin? maybe mix and match Amp Designer and or Guitar Rig in one song? I'm sure I read somewhere that you could use non Apple plugins in Garageband.
    Anyhow

  • Problem with Guitar Rig 4 in GarageBand

Hello everyone, I've got a problem with Guitar Rig 4 in GarageBand (I've got a brand new MBP 2011 received last week, so I've got Lion), when I click on "scan" to import presets, only 5 presets appear : "flicker" "overdriven" "pure rammfire A" and B and C, does somebody know why ? those 5 presets are located in the same folder as all the other presets... I really don't understand
    Thank you !

    Hey mate,
I've had exactly the same problem for quite some time. But I just found a solution. I signed up here just to share it with you, so I hope it works like it did for me!
    So try this:
Go to HD/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Guitar Rig 4/Demo DB and copy those 3 files.
Next, open HD/Users/Username/Documents/Native Instruments/Guitar Rig 4/Db and overwrite the files there with the ones you copied.
    Voila! Hope it helps!

  • Some instruments greyed out in garageband

Hi guys , not used Garageband for a while . After downloading update and  playing around for a while . I noticed that some of the instruments are greyed out ?
Is there a reason , ie, like they have to be purchased ?

No wonder, you are confused by the version names.
GarageBand '11 is called '11, because it is part of the iLife '11 bundle (with iPhoto '11 and iMovie '11).  The latest version number of GarageBand '11 is version 6.0.5, and it is compatible with your earlier OS X 10.8.3 and later.
The newest version, GarageBand 10.0 is only compatible with Mavericks, OS X 10.9 and later.
Seems Mavericks install has , well I don't know , messed something up some where like other apps I've got .
Mavericks has an auto update feature. If you do not change the System Preferences (in the AppStore) settings, it will automatically download and install all updates. You may want to change that to "install system data files and security updates", but not "install updates". This way you will be asked, if you want to install version updates.
    " about " I have version 11 ( 6.0.5).
That is o.k., it is the best GarageBand version ever.  You only need to get the missing instruments. Do you still have a backup of the old system from the time before the update to Mavericks?  It is really a pity, that you wiped the system and made a clean install; that is usually unnecessary with a Mac, unless you are experiencing system wide problems.
Ok I went to purchases and clicked on download and it said , " not availeble for the UK " ? Strange as I downloaded from the app store and it shows in my purchased ?
The AppStore will usually not allow to download the older version, if a newer version is available. But try, if you can still update it. When you launch GarageBand '11 (6.0.5) and click a missing instrument, do you still get the prompt to download the update?

  • Instruments record button greyed out with iPhone

When I try to profile my iPhone app using Instruments the record button is greyed out and I can't do anything.
If I try to start from xcode using the "start with performance tool" menu it just says target failed to start.
I've tried removing the iphone from the organizer and plugging it back in.
    Any ideas?

I also have the same problem, and running Instruments on the Simulator is not an option, since my problem is that there are sprites that are drawn correctly on the Simlator and are not visible on the Device.

  • Using NI's Guitar Rig 3 Session I/O

Just got Native Instrument's audio interface Guitar Rig 3 Session I/O. It sounds great with headphones but I can't get a sound through to Garageband 3 (which I'm using with my G4 1.5 Mhz running 10.4.11). Guitar Rig shows up in the Audio Unit modules and the FX are listed. It shows a signal coming through to the Real Instrument track, but there's no sound--not with headphones, not through the stereo. The volume slider is greyed out. And the volume on Guitar Rig has no effect.
Anyone know how to make this work?
    Cheers,
    GB

I paid $129d--but I wanted to get 3 because I was intending to use it with my Pismo 550 Mhz G4. It loaded alright, but it asked me to upgrade, and as soon as I did that it wouldn't work on the Pis. So I transferred everything to the 12" G4, which would probably run 4.
I fiddled with the different settings, but I don't know what I'm doing. Have to say, with every sound software I've used by far the most frustrating thing was the most basic--the audio/midi settings. I don't really understand why, if software can "see" the interface, and can register the signal, why it can't also just switch the settings to whatever might be required. It was the same with Pro Tools, same with Garageband come to that. I always end up spending a week with it, get nowhere, and end up putting it on the shelf. And it's not that I'm computer dumb--been using Macs and PCs for twenty years with all sorts of different software. I can take em apart and soup em up, but sound software always makes me crazy.
I guess I'll have to spend more time with it.

  • Anyone using Guitar Rig 2 in Logic?

I'm having trouble getting GR 2 to work in logic. It works fine as a stand alone but does not work in logic! If anyone can advise me on what I might do to rectify this problem I could sure use it. It's holding up a studio project and I'm not getting much help from Native Instruments support.

Hmmm, I dunno-the concensus in the NI GR forum is the
same? Is it just the driver that's bad or did the
    patch fix it?
    Hi Justin,
May be you could give me a blow by blow discription of how to make this piece of S**t work. I am still getting no input into logic, I can hear the metronome but no imput from the strat at all.
    Here's what I'm using:
    G5 duel 2 gig processor
    Dididesign 192 digital interface
    Mackie digital console DXB 200
the AU version of guitar rig 2 loaded
    logic version 7.1.1
OPEN AUDIO CHANNEL - load plug-in guitar rig
I have tried..... out of the guitar into pedal board, then out of the pedal board into the Console - NOTHING
Out of the guitar straight into the console - NOTHING
It does work as a stand alone through the console but so does everything else except guitar rig, but not in Logic!
Here's the really wierd part you can hear the metronome when the audio channel is armed and record is going - Still no guitar input at all.
Am I just doing something stupid? is the AU version not working? Do I need to load the VST? and help from you is always Greatly Appreciated, this is killing me time wise.
    Thanks again guys,

  • Guitar Rig 2 - HELP PLEASE!!

Alright brothers, I know this is the Logic forum, I don't doubt that for an instant. But when a company with the reputation for quality such as native instruments drops the ball on offering the simplest bit of gratitude for purchasing their product - tech support - I decided to turn to my bros here in the Logic Forum . ..
I just got Guitar Rig 2 earlier today. I set it all up, installed the software, registered it, installed all the necessary drivers, installed the two update off the Native Instruments website, and still I have immense problems with this promising device.
In the standalone mode, GT 2 shows that it is receiving no audio input whatsoever from Rig Kontrol 2 (yes, I have the input gain turned up on RK2). . . however when I move the expression pedal and click the stomp boxes, everything works as it should. When i switch patches, I get the appropriate buzzes from overdrive boxes through my monitors.
When I switch to using it as a plugin in Logic, it receives input just fine, and Rig Kontrol does what its supposed to do. However, I do not get any output from my monitors. However, all other audio that is NOT related to Guitar Rig works fine. In order to get monitoring while using it as a plugin, i have to plug my headphones into the back of Rig Kontrol, or run the line outs from Rig Kontrol into my monitors directly.
While i am getting no input signal at all in the standalone version, I at least get some kind of buzz or hum indicating that if it DID get input, i would be able to hear the results through my monitors.
Also, in standalone mode, when I go to preferences, it doesn't allow me to select Rig Kontrol as the input device. . . nor does it offer the option. I am totally perplexed. . . and there's no one at Native Instruments. . . (no joke, that's what they said when I called about 30 times today)
If ANYONE knows how to make GT 2 fully funtional, please help! Thanks guys.

Having just installed GR2 on my MacBook Pro (17") I was apalled at the results I got. Stuttering audio and then completely packing in, unable to find it in Logic Pro as either a plug in or an instrument. I hopped along to the Native Instrument website and was very disappointed with the lack of drivers for the new Intel based Macs and poor support from NI.
It appears that this issue has been going on for many, many months. Most of the other applications I use (Reason, BFD) sorted the issues fairly quickly and I cannot believe that NI still have not come up with the goods. It is quite interesting that they are about to do a tour in America of GR2 on the Mac when all new Macs are now Intel based. My guess is that they have sorted the issue but in a diabolical show of contempt for their customers they have not made it available to us.
NI posted this on their web site "Nearly all NI products are fully compatible with the new Apple Mac X OS 10.4 operating system without the need to install any NI update. While upgrading to Mac OS 10.4, we recommend choosing the installation type "Upgrade Mac OS X"
This does not appear to be true and I believe NI have misinterpreted GR2. The update is stated to be ready by October 2006. I am not holding my breath!!

  • I've lost my Guitar Rig as a plug-in in GarageBand

    Hello all.
First a bit of background. For various reasons I had to re-install Panther 10.3.9 for the time being after trying to install my new Tiger software. This is until my new internet Router turns up (in a MONTH!, thanks BT..).
The consequences were dire. Had to get re-activation on a lot of my software. One of which was my Guitar Rig software, which Native Instruments have re-activated for me.
Unfortunately, my GarageBand 2.02 software seems to no longer see my Guitar Rig as a plug-in and is giving me a warning that it's not there, and it is telling me to re-install GRig (which I am extremely loathe to do after the days & days it has taken me to get NI to re-register it). This is a bit crippling as its THE major plug-in I use in GarageBand, to record all my guitar parts.
If I'm missing a simple solution or if anyone can help I'd be very grateful.
    Thanks.

Could you tell me what the Rewire function is?
    http://www.propellerheads.se/technologies/rewire/index.cfm?fuseaction=displaymai n
Quoting the first part of that page:
ReWire is a system for transferring audio data between two computer applications, in real time. Basically, you could view ReWire as an "invisible cable" that streams audio from one computer program into another.
ReWire was developed by Propellerhead Software AB in 1998 and first appeared in Propellerheads' ReBirth RB-338 and Steinberg Soft- & Hardware's Cubase VST, allowing the two programs to communicate in a way that hadn't been possible before. Since then, a version 2 of ReWire has been released, with several significant improvements and additions. Today, a number of software applications from different manufacturers support ReWire.

  • Adobe Audition 3 and Guitar rig 2?

    Will these 2 work together?
I use Cubase normally but I would like to try Audition.
I would like to record a clean guitar track and then apply Guitar rig as vst or whatever will work.
    Is it possible?

According to the Native Instruments website Guitar Rig 2 has both DirectSound and ASIO drivers.
Audition works with ASIO so you can either use the native ASIO driver or wrap the DirectSound driver with the Audition 3.0 Windows Sound or the ASIO4ALL WDM wrappers.
Of course you could download the Audition v3 trial and try it yourself (assuming you already own Guitar Rig 2).
