hi I'm using this code to see all the files in a folder:-
//get a list of files in a specific folder
var directory:File = File.documentsDirectory.resolvePath("my_unique_folder/");
directory.getDirectoryListingAsync();
directory.addEventListener(FileListEvent.DIRECTORY_LISTING, directoryListingHandler);
function directoryListingHandler(event:FileListEvent):void
var list:Array = event.files;
for (var i:uint = 0; i < list.length; i++)
trace(list[i].nativePath)
My output is the whole path,
/Users/mm/Documents/reader/settings11.txt
/Users/mm/Documents/reader/settings13.txt
and I just need the file name. I have tried trace(list[i]) but this give [object file] as output
any ides as to how to just get the files in a folder in an array
cheers
KBN
have answered my own question
simple really its
trace(list[i].name);

Unable to Capture an image using Native Camera
Hi all,
Please help me out.
I am getting an issue but unable to find out its solution.
I am watching a video on my mobile phone N96 and open the CAM pressing right side button continue, Camera gets opened and i am able to take a snap.
Same functionality i am doing while i am playing a video from my java application. I play a video through my application, while video is running , i open CAM pressing right side button. Camera gets opened. When i click to capture a snap, camera captures a snap but this is not that picture,which was shown by camera while capturing. It captures my video snap which was running on my application.
Please suggest me, is this property of Nokia mobile phone's camera or any defect on that.
Thanks,
AshutoshNo , I am not using screen captured application.
I am playing a video from my application, when vedio is running, then i open my native camera to capture a snap after pressing right side button.

Query update on each iteration problem (MS SQL Sever / ODBC / Native Driver
Hello,
Ive been working to learn some Java and now JDBC over the past 10 or so months.
I think I have a general understanding of how to perform queries and work with data using JDBC. However, Ive run into a problem. Im trying to do a query of a set of data in a database based on the value of a status column. I want to loop over the messages and perform various functions with the data then update their status in the database. Its preferable to do these 250 to 1000 rows at a time, but no more and no less.
Im connecting to MS SQL Server 2000, currently with ODBC. Ive also tried it with the Java SQL Server 2000 drivers provided by Microsoft with the same results.
Ive found that I can do a one table query and loop though it with a while (rs.next()) {} and run an Update statement with executeUpdate on each iteration without any problems, no matter the number of rows returned in query.
I have not been able to use the updateString and updateRow inside the while loop. I keep getting errors like this at the line with the updateRow():
Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Row update failed.
This occurs no mater how many rows I select, 1 or more.
The real problem Ive been having is that the query I need to loop though joins across several tables and returns some rows from some of those tables. This only seems to work when I query for 38 or less selected rows and I use an Update statement with executeUpdate on each iteration. The updateString and updateRow methods never work. Any number of rows selected greater than 38 causes a deadlock where the Update is waiting for the select to compete on the server and the Update cant proceed until the Select is complete.
As I stated above Ive tried both ODBC and the native SQL Server driver with the same results. I have not tried any other databases, but thats moot as my data is already in MS SQL.
Questions:
How can I avoid or get around this 38 row limit without selecting each row, one at a time?
What am I doing wrong with the updateString and updateRow?
Is there a better approach that anyone can suggest?
Heres some sample code with the problem:
import java.sql.*;
public class db1{
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception{
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
String url = "jdbc:odbc:eBrochure_live";
Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(url, "sa", "d3v3l0p");
Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://dcm613u2\\dcm613u2_dev:1433", "sa", "d3v3l0p");
Statement stmt = con.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_UPDATABLE);
Statement stmt2 = con.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_UPDATABLE);
stmt.executeUpdate("USE [myDatabase]");
stmt2.executeUpdate("USE [myDatabase]");
String qGetMessages = "SELECT TOP 250 t1.messageUUID, t1.subjectHeader, t2.emailAddress as toAddress " +
"FROM APP_Messages as t1 JOIN APP_addressBook_contacts as t2 " +
" On t1.toContactID = t2.contactID " +
"WHERE t1.statusID = 'queued'";
ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(qGetMessages);
while (rs.next()) {
String messageUUID = rs.getString("messageUUID");
String subjectHeader = rs.getString("subjectHeader");
System.out.println(messageUUID + " " + subjectHeader);
String updateString = "UPDATE APP_Messages " +
"SET statusID = 'sent' " +
"WHERE messageUUID = '" + messageUUID + "' ";
stmt2.executeUpdate(updateString);
con.close();
Thanks for the help,
Doug Hughes// sorry, ps.close() should be outside of if condition
String sql = "UPDATE APP_Messages SET statusID = 'sent' WHERE messageUUID = ?";
Statement statement = con.createStatement();
PreparedStatement ps = con.prepareStatement(sql);
ResultSet rs = statement.executeQuery("your select SQL");
if ( rs.next() )
ps.clearParameters();
ps.setString(1, rs.getString("your column name"));
ps.executeUpdate();
ps.close();
rs.close();
statement.close(); -
Reporting Services in both SharePoint 2013 connected and native mode?
Is it possible to configure Reporting Services (SQL Server 2014) to support both SharePoint 2013 connected mode and local Report Server in native mode on the same server using multiple instances of RS? The reason for this setup is to avoid having to purchase
SharePoint Enterprise CALs for other users than analysts and still be able to publish standard reports to all employees.
Management and analysts -> Custom reports published through SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (SP2013 ECALs and SQL Server 2014 core license). Data alerts and Power View enabled if possible.
All employees -> Standard reports published through Native Mode Report Server (SQL Server 2014 core license). Possible subscriptions.
I find the official documentation a bit lacking in this area but can't find anything stating against the above. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could confirm before planning the installs.
What I'm aiming for is somewhat similar to the "2 Tier Topology" described at: Example
License Topologies and Costs for SQL Server 2014 Self-Service Business Intelligence
With the difference that there is a separate SQL Server 2014 server used both by SharePoint and as a standalone BI-server.
SharePoint EE + SQL Server 2014 EE
Excel Services
SSRS Add-in (Reporting Services, Power View)
SQL Server DB for SP Content, Configuration and Service Application DB:s
SQL Server 2014 EE - SharePoint + Standalone for BI
SSRS SharePoint Mode
SSRS Native Mode
SSAS (Not in SharePoint mode, skipping PowerPivot for now. Would Power View still work?)
SQL Server DB for Data Warehouse
= 1 x SharePoint EE Server Licence, 2 x SQL Server 2014 EE Server Licenses?
Deployment
Topologies for SQL Server BI Features in SharePoint - Actually gives a good overview in the section "PowerPivot for SharePoint
2013 and Reporting Services Three Server Deployment". Just remove PowerPivot Service from Server 1 and change the Analysis Services in Server 2 to a regular native multidimensional mode. Server 2 would also be used for native Reporting Services.
Fallback or even beneficial option to install SSRS in SharePoint mode on the SQL Server instance used for content and configuration?Hi Daniel Wikar,
As per my understanding, you want to install two SQL Server instances on the same server, and configure one of the Reporting Services to SharePoint integrated mode, another to native mode.
According to my knowledge, multiple instances of Reporting Services on the same computer, where one instance runs in SharePoint integrated mode and the other instance runs in native mode is supported. But we must run all report server instances at the same
level. For example, if we are using SQL Server 2014, all report server instances must be SQL Server 2014.
Besides, Analysis Services and Reporting Services can be installed as standalone servers, in scale-out configurations, or as shared service applications in a SharePoint farm. Installing the services in a farm enables BI features that are only available in
SharePoint, including PowerPivot for SharePoint and Power View.

Adobe AIR Runtime Redistribution and Native Installer
Will there be new instructions for Adobe AIR 2.0 Runtime Redistribution? In particular, I'm looking for instructions on how to use the runtime redistribution installer to perform a "side-car installation" of AIR 2 alongside an application that uses the NativeProcess API (and so must be built into a native installer instead of a .air file).
Thanks!Thirded!
On a test deployment using SCCM and the supplied Adobe AIR Runtime Installer files, we have managed to install our application with the 1.5.3 Air Framework with no major issues other than having to disable the Auto Update feature that doesnt really work in a corporate environment. Everything was absolutely fine until the release of AIR 2. Now, the test machines are prompted to install the updated Adobe Air 2 framework once a week, see an excerpt from an Adobe blog post below:
"In addition, once a week AIR apps check to see if an AIR update is available, and if so, users are presented with the option to update to the most up‐to‐date version, helping to ensure that end users get the benefits of improved security and performance."
That sounds great right? Except my users (like many other corporate users) don't have Admin permissions on their machines (hence the use of SCCM), with the result being resultant error messages when a user attemptes to install the AIR framework update without the necessary permissions.
All of the above would be fine if the Adobe AIR Runtime Installer files were updated to include the latest version of the runtime. This of course hasn't been done yet - does anyone know when this may happen? Can anyone help me with this or offer any advice?
I hope the above makes sense and I would really appreciate any help or advice!
Thanks! -
Unable to view older emails using native email cli...
I would be grateful for some help. I use my inbox to store messages until I have acted on them. The native email client on my E55 will not keep messages older than a month. Is there a work around or another email programme that someone can recommend to me? This was not the case with my E71 and is certainly not the case with any other email client I run on an iPod touch or computer. Thanks. John
What is different about these particular emails, and what types of files can it not show?
Changing email app won't help if the emails contain attachments the iPhone itself cannot view. -
Unable To Build iOS App Using Native Extension
I’m trying to create a native extension for iOS and use that extension as part of an IPA app for iOS I create from a SWF file using the ADT tool (i.e. the normal use-case for iOS). Note: I have already successfully created the native extension and APK app for Android and now I am trying to build the iOS side.
I have been primarily using the information found at the following websites:

Any ideas? Please help.Thanks for the reply.
yes.I've created a static library with 3rd party frameworks and pulled the .a from product folder(Debug-iphoneos).
and the framework didn't work(armv7 not supported error occurs ..don't know why) with it's original folder structure .
so I followed below link to change folders inside the 3rd party framework and figured out but now the application crashes on startup without giving an error message. .

How to see Canon HDV native 24p video on a CRT external monitor?
Mac Pro 2009, FCP 7, brand new install- I'm trying to view Canon HDV native 1080/24p video in my timeline via s-video to a JVC TM-H150C external 15" CRT monitor (or via component if I buy the additional JVC card). The footage is from a Canon HV40 camcorder.
I've spoken with BlackMagic Design and found that the Intensity Pro card CANNOT handle display of Canon HDV native 1080/24p on an external CRT monitor. Apparently the 24 frames per second rate is the problem. Some people on various forums have said that it can do 24p, but BMD says it cannot, and I can't confirm anything without plunking down $200 to test it myself. With all the various flavors of HDV out there, I can't go by what another user has experienced on his system.
I don't need a card for capture, only display, so I don't want to spend a fortune just to be able to use my little CRT production monitor to view the 24p video. What can I do? Is there a setting in FCP or a plugin that can do this?The no cost way is to nest the 16:9 sequence in a 4:3 sequence. The 16:9 sequence should be letterboxed and will play back at the correct aspect ratio on the monitor.
Otherwise, you'll need a 3rd party device (AJA, Blackmagic, Matrox) to do the letterboxing for you.

The difference between IEEE802.1Q Native VLAN sub-interface and Physical interface?
Hello
I think the following topologies are supported for Cisco Routers
And the Physical interface also can be using as Native VLAN interface right?
Topology 1.
R1 Gi0.1 ------ IEEE802.1Q Tunneling L2SW ------ Gi0 R2
R1 - configuration
interface GigabitEthernet0.1
encapsulation dot1Q 1 native
ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
Topology 2.
R1 Gi0 ------ IEEE802.1Q Tunneling L2SW ------ Gi0 R2
interface GigabitEthernet0
ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
And is it ok to use the physical interface and sub-interface with dynamic routing such as EIGRP or OSPF etc?
R1 Gi 0 ---- Point to Multipoint EIGRP or OSPF ---- Gi0 R2 / R3
Gi 0.20--- Point to Point EIGRP or OSPF --- Gi0.10 R4 (same VLAN-ID)
R1 - configuration
interface GigabitEthernet0
ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
interface GigabitEthernet8.20
encapsulation dot1Q 20
ip address 20.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
Any information is very appreciated. but if there is any CCO document please let me know.
Thank you very much and regards,
Masanobu HiyoshiHello,
The diagram is helpful.
If I am getting you correctly, you have three routers interconnected by a switch, and you want them to operate in a hub-and-spoke fashion even though the switch is capable of allowing direct communication between any of these routers.
Your first scenario is concerned with all three routers being in the same VLAN, and by using neighbor commands, you force these routers to establish targeted EIGRP adjacencies R1-R2 and R1-R3, with R1 being the hub.
Your second scenario is concerned with creating one VLAN per spoke, having subinterfaces for each spoke VLAN created on R1 as the router, and putting each spoke just in its own VLAN.
Your scenarios are not really concerned with the concept of native VLAN or the way it is configured, to be honest. Whether you use a native VLAN in either of your scenarios, or whether you configure the native VLAN on a subinterface or on the physical interface makes no difference. There is simply no difference to using or not using a native VLAN in any of your scenarios, and there is no difference to the native VLAN configuration being placed on a physical interface or a subinterface. It's as plain as that. Both your scenarios will work.
My personal opinion, though, is that forcing routers on a broadcast multi-access segment such as Ethernet to operate in a hub-and-spoke fashion is somewhat artificial. Why would you want to do this? Both scenarios have drawbacks: in the first scenario, you need to add a neighbor statement for each spoke to the hub, limiting the scalability. In the second scenario, you waste VLANs and IP subnets if there are many spokes. The primary question is, though: why would you want an Ethernet segment to operate as a hub-and-spoke network? Sure, these things are done but they are motivated by specific needs so I would like to know if you have any.
Even if you needed your network to operate in a hub-and-spoke mode, there are more efficient means of achieving that: Cisco switches support so-called protected ports that are prevented from talking to each other. By configuring the switch ports to spokes as protected, you will prevent the spokes from seeing each other. You would not need, then, to configure static neighbors in EIGRP, or to waste VLANs for individual spokes. What you would need to do would be deactivating the split horizon on R1's interface, and using the ip next-hop-self eigrp command on R1 to tweak the next hop information to point to R1 so that the spokes do not attempt to route packets to each other directly but rather route them over R1.
I do not believe I have seen any special CCO documents regarding the use of physical interfaces or subinterfaces for native VLAN or for your scenarios.
Best regards,
Peter -
I've tried 3 UPS's (2 APC and one TripLite) that state they are OSX compatible, however, they do not fully respond to the native osx setting in (system Preferences/ Energy Saver/ UPS/Start up automatically after a power failure). This is what happens:
During a power outage, the OS does a graceful shutdown, but does not reboot when power is restored.
Apparently, the UPS is not notified to turn off during the shut down process. The power (on-Off-On) cycle is required by the mac to restart.
Trip lite tech support says they have software that works with Windows and linux to do this, but not mac.
I've tried two older APC UPS's, One Smart UPS1500 and a Back-UPS 1500 with the same result on two different servers and one iMac.
At this point I'm looking for a make and model of a UPS that does work. If anyone can verify a make and model that actually does this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Its a simple test, just pull the plug on your UPS, wait for the system to shut down, and then plug the UPS back in. The system should reboot.Many of the CyberPower UPS units are compatible. Checkout the home solutions on this page: http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/ups-systems.html

the error DbpError -28814 denotes that an object cannot be found.
Can you maybe tell me your exact liveCache version (incl. Build level) and LCA Build?
Additionally, please copy the relevant error information from the file (/sapdb/data/wrk/<SID>/)knldiag.err into this thread.
Which exact 'liveCache test program' are your referring to (which of the /SAPAPO/... transactions)?
Kind regards,
Roland -
My company is developing a game for the iPhone and iPad devices using Flash cs5.5 and Air3.0
The client requires that certain features be supported - such things like GameCenter, Rating system, etc... none of which is currently supported by flash for the iOS.
However, they did provide us with a bunch of xCode sample files on how they want things to work.
My idea was to bridge the gap in functionality by creating a native exention that utilized the xcode source that was given to me, thus giving me the functionality that is required.
But first, I need to actually CREATE a native extension, even just a basic echo/hello world... I have followed all the steps from various guides and tutorials and I have managed to create an ipa and put it on my iPad2 to test, but when the program starts up, nothing happens, I am left with a black screen. When I comment out the lines of code that intialize the extension, it fires up just fine.
(and yes, I even tried to put things in try blocks in case there was an error - no luck)
So I am hoping that someone can read through the process of what I am doing below and point out what I am doing wrong, or what I am missing.
What I am using:
Mac Mini running OSX 10.7.2 - this is used to run xCode 4.1 build 4B110
PC - Windows 7 home 64bit - Running Flash CS5.5 (version 11.5.1.3469) with the AIR 3.0 SDK inside it. I also have the AIR 3.0 sdk in a seperate folder for command line running. (This is my primary developement platform)
The PC does have flash builder installed, but I have never really used it, nor do I know how to use it... everything that has been built to date has been done using Flash CS5.5
So, this is what I have done.
The first thing I do is create a .a static library on the mac.
I open xcode and create a new project.
Select iOS Framework and Library, then select "Cocoa touch Static Library"
Give it a name, in this case "EchoExtension" and put it in a folder.
I then delete the EchoExtension.h file as all the samples I have seen to date don't use it.
I then add "FlashRuntimeExtension.h" to the project from the AIR3.0 sdk frameworks folder on my PC
I then delete everything in my .m file and, following several different examples and tutorials, type up the following code:
// EchoExtension.m
// EchoExtension
#include "FlashRuntimeExtensions.h"
FREObject echo(FREContext ctx, void* funcData, uint32_t argc, FREObject argv[]) {
return argv[0];
//----------- Extention intializer and finalizer ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -
// A native context instance is created
void ContextInitializer(void* extData, const uint8_t* ctxType, FREContext ctx, uint32_t* numFunctionsToTest, const FRENamedFunction** functionsToSet) {
// setup the number of functions in this extention
// for easy reference, set the number of function that this extention will use.
int FunctionCount = 1;
// set the pointer reference to the number of function this extention will use.
*numFunctionsToTest = FunctionCount;
// create an array to store all the functions we will use.
FRENamedFunction* func = (FRENamedFunction*)malloc(sizeof(FRENamedFunction)*FunctionCount);
// create an array entry for each function
func[0].name = (const uint8_t*)"echo"; // the name of the function
func[0].functionData = NULL; // the data type
func[0].function = &echo; // reference to the actual function
// save the array in a pointer.
*functionsToSet = func;
// A native context instance is disposed
void ContextFinalizer(FREContext ctx) {
return;
// Initialization function of each extension
void ExtInitializer(void** extDataToSet, FREContextInitializer* ctxInitializerToSet, FREContextFinalizer* ctxFinalizerToSet) {
*extDataToSet = NULL;
*ctxInitializerToSet = &ContextInitializer;
*ctxFinalizerToSet = &ContextFinalizer;
// Called when extension is unloaded
void ExtFinalizer(void* extData) {
return;
I then go "Product", "Build" and it creates libEchoExtension.a
I copy this .a file over to my PC.
I am now finish with that god foresaken mac (*shudders*)
Back on my PC, I create a folder for my test project. For all intents an purposes, let's call this "D:\src\EchoExtension" I then create 2 folders, one called "lib" and one called "app". Lib is where I will create the actionscript source for my extension.
In my lib folder, I create a new fla in flash cs5.5 called "EchoExtension.fla"
I create in my lib folder, the following:
com\extensions\EchoExtension\EchoExtension.as
a folder called "Build" in which I place my libEchoExtension.a file.
in my EchoExtension.as file, I place the following code:
package com.extensions.EchoExtension
import flash.events.EventDispatcher;
import flash.events.IEventDispatcher;
import flash.external.ExtensionContext;
public class EchoExtension extends EventDispatcher
protected var _extensionContext:ExtensionContext;
* Constructor.
public function EchoExtension()
super();
// Initialize extension.
_extensionContext = ExtensionContext.createExtensionContext( "com.extensions.EchoExtension", "main" );
public function echo(Prompt:String):String
return _extensionContext.call( "echo" ) as String;
In my main fla, on the first layer of the time line, I simply put the following code to make sure that the as file get's included when I publish the swc.
import com.extensions.EchoExtension.EchoExtension;
var ext:EchoExtension = new EchoExtension();
stop();
I then open up my fla's publish settings, turn off the swf - which I don't need, and check the swc and make sure that it outputs into my build folder. "./Build/EchoExtension.swc"
I also set the player to Air 3.0 (which I can do since I have successfully integrated AIR 3.0 along side my AIR 2.6 and can build both without any problems)
I then publish the swc. So far, so good. No problems.
I then make a copy of the swc and rename it to EchoExtension.swc.zip, at which point I extract the library.swf file from it and also place it in my build folder.
I then create extension.xml in by build folder which contains the following code:
<extension xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/extension/2.5">
<id>com.extensions.EchoExtension</id>
<versionNumber>1</versionNumber>
<platforms>
<platform name="iPhone-ARM">
<applicationDeployment>
<nativeLibrary>libEchoExtension.a</nativeLibrary>
<initializer>ExtInitializer</initializer>
<finalizer>ExtFinalizer</finalizer>
</applicationDeployment>
</platform>
</platforms>
</extension>
Now, at this point I am a little wary, because I am building for the iPad2... the platform is iPhone... I thought that may be a problem and at one point I tested the same build on the iPhone4 and had the same results. I have also tested it using the platform name of iPad-ARM and got the same results... So I don't think that is the problem, but I am unsure.
Now, to make things easier, I created a batch file called "buildane.bat" in my build folder. This is what I will use to create my .ane file and it contains the following command line:
D:\SDKs\AirSDK30\bin\adt -package -target ane EchoExtension.ane extension.xml -swc EchoExtension.swc -platform iPhone-ARM library.swf libEchoExtension.a
I then open a command prompt and run buildane.bat and poof. My ane is created. My build folder has the following files in it now:
buildane.bat
EchoExtension.ane
EchoExtension.swc
EchoExtension.swc.zip
extension.xml
libEchoExtension.a
library.swf
Now that I have my swc, ane, and all that, it's time to create my sample application that will be used to test my new extension.
I go back to my D:\src\EchoExtension folder and go into the app folder I created ealier.
I then create a new flash project called EchoExtensionTester.fla
I open the action script settings, library paths, and add the swc that I created in my D:\src\EchoExtension\lib\build folder to my project.
On my stage, I create an input text field called txtInput, a dynamic text field called txtEcho, and a couple of buttons called btnClear, btnRuntime, and btnEcho
I open up the first layer in the time line and place the following code:
// basic imports.
import flash.desktop.NativeApplication;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
import flash.text.TextField;
// import the extension from our swc.
import com.extensions.EchoExtension.EchoExtension;
// set our input text field to need the softkeyboard
txtInput.needsSoftKeyboard = true;
// add the event handlers to our buttons.
btnEcho.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnEcho_Click);
btnClear.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnClear_Click);
btnRunTime.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnRunTime_Click);
// create our extension variable.
var ext:EchoExtension;
try
// initialize our echo extension.
ext = new EchoExtension();
} catch (e:Error) {
txtEcho.text = "Error trying to create new EchoExtension:\n\n" + e;
stop();
// clear the echo text field
function btnClear_Click(e:MouseEvent):void
txtEcho.text = "";
// just for testing, put the current version of air runtime into our text field so we can make sure we are running air 3.0
function btnRunTime_Click(e:MouseEvent):void
txtEcho.text += "\nRuntime version = " + NativeApplication.nativeApplication.runtimeVersion;
// call the extension, passing it whatever is in the input text field and have it return it and place it in our echo text field
function btnEcho_Click(e:MouseEvent):void
txtEcho.text += "\n";
try
txtEcho.text += ext.echo(txtInput.text);
} catch (e:Error) {
txtEcho.text += "\nError calling ext.echo: " + e;
I then save the project, Open the Air for iOS settings and set the following: (but yes, I know... I am going to have to use adt to do the build, but I need to create the swf first)
Output file: EchoExtensionTester.ipa
Appname: EchoExtensionTester
Version 1.0
Landscape
Fullscreen On
Auto orientation is off
rendering GPU
device: iPad and iPhone
Res: High
Deployement: I use my certificate and provisionging profile that I use for my Primary project (which work) and set for device testing.
I close the window and save again... but before I publish, I open newly created "EchoExtensionTester-app.xml" that is in my app folder.
I add <extensions> <extensionID>com.extensions.EchoExtension</extensionID> </extensions> to the xml file so now it looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>
<application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/3.0">
<extensions>
<extensionID>com.extensions.EchoExtension</extensionID>
</extensions>
<id>EchoExtensionTester</id>

</application>
I save the changes to the xml and go back to flash. I then publish.
The swf is created as it should be, but then I get the error message:
Error creating files.
An implmentation for native extension 'com.extensions.EchoExtension' required by the application was not found for the target platform.
Now, while this is a pain in the rear, I new this was going to happen because in my reading of tutorials and samples, they all said that you must use adt to build the ipa... but that's fine... all I wanted anyway was the swf, which I now have in my app folder.
I close down flash as I don't need it anymore and I create a new batch file: (note: I change the names of the cert, provision profile, and password for this post)
cls
"D:\SDKs\AirSDK30\bin\adt" -package -target ipa-ad-hoc -storetype pkcs12 -keystore "D:\src\mycert.p12" -storepass MYPASSWORD -provisioning-profile "D:\src\myprovfile.mobileprovision" "EchoExtensionTester.ipa" "EchoExtensionTester-app.xml" "EchoExtensionTester.swf" -extdir ../lib/Build
set /p dummy=
echo done
I then open a command window in my app folder and run build.bat...
I wait about 2 minutes....
YAY! My ipa file has been created with no errors reported so far.... Time to copy this bad boy to the iPad and see what happens.
I open iTunes, drag "EchoExtensionTester.ipa" over to the Apps, then sync my device....
YAY! iTunes has successfully installed the ipa on the device... and there is by bright and shiney blank icon for Echo Extension Tester...
I open the app.... and.....
nothing.
I wait
still nothing.
I go to the bathroom.
I get back... still nothing... just a black screen.
I press the iPad home button, the app minimized, I restore it... nothing... black screen.
hrm. Time to do a little trial and error to see if I can figure out where the break down is.
As a test, I open my fla and I comment out the following lines:
ext = new EchoExtension();
txtEcho.text += ext.echo(txtInput.text);
I then rebuild the swf... get the same error (don't care)... I then rebuild the ipa using the batch file.... and re-install it on the device when it's done.
The exact same thing....
I open the xml file... and remove the <extensionID>com.extensions.EchoExtension</extensionID> line, save and re-run the batch file again... wait for the ipa to finish, and run it on the device.
I fire up the program on the iPad and it launches perfectly... except for the commented line of code to actually create and call the extension, everything works as it should. The runtime on the device is reporting as 3.0.0.4080
As a test, I open the .fla back up and uncomment the 2 lines I commented out above... keeping the extensionID out of the xml file, I re-publish the ipa.... of course, this time, it actually creates the ipa from flash because the extension id is not in the xml.
I put the ipa file with the extension code in place on the ipad... Fire it up and put some text into the txtInput and press the echo button. I get the following error:Error calling ext.echo: TypeError: Error #1009
I suspect that is because I failed into include the extension in the descriptor... but when I build it with the extensionid in the xml, I just get a black screen. I am 99% sure that the extension context in the ext object is null (because that is what happens when I run it in flash debug without the extension lines in the xml)
And here I am stuck.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or what I have forgotten to do?
Thanks.I have been trying to get the remote debugging working with my flash and ipad2... but I can't seem to figure it out. I looked at several tutorials, but the ipad build just doesn't want to seem to connect to the flash remote debugger.
Anyway... here is a little more information.
I moved the initialization of the extension from the start of the application to the button event itself. Now, the application will start up exactly as it's supposed to, but when I press the button that creates and initalizes the extension and does the echo call, the application crashes.
Here is the new code:
// basic imports.
import flash.desktop.NativeApplication;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
import flash.text.TextField;
// import the extension from our swc.
import com.extensions.EchoExtension.EchoExtension;
// set our input text field to need the softkeyboard
txtInput.needsSoftKeyboard = true;
// add the event handlers to our buttons.
btnEcho.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnEcho_Click);
btnClear.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnClear_Click);
btnRunTime.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnRunTime_Click);
txtEcho.text += "Initialization complete.\n";
stop();
// clear the echo text field
function btnClear_Click(e:MouseEvent):void
txtEcho.text = "";
// just for testing, put the current version of air runtime into our text field so we can make sure we are running air 3.0
function btnRunTime_Click(e:MouseEvent):void
txtEcho.text += "Runtime version = " + NativeApplication.nativeApplication.runtimeVersion +"\n" ;
// call the extension, passing it whatever is in the input text field and have it return it and place it in our echo text field
function btnEcho_Click(e:MouseEvent):void
// create our extension variable.
try
var ext:EchoExtension = new EchoExtension();
txtEcho.text += ext.echo(txtInput.text) +"\n" ;
ext = null;
} catch (err:Error) {
txtEcho.text += "Error: " + err.message +"\n" ;
Now, program crashes are an entirely different animal because the ipad creates a crash log! YAY!
this is what the crash log contains:

NOT WORKING: Putting a jar file requiring native library in bootclasspath
Hi,
I put my own jar file into the bootclasspath like this:
java -Xbootclasspath/p:myboot.jar TestClass
Some classes in the jar require a native library. For JVM 1.3 on Solaris, I put the native library in $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/sparc and everything works just fine.
However, when I try the same thing on JVM1.4, I got the following error when my class containing the native methods is called:
Failed to load the native library: myboot_native
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no myboot_native in java.library.path
I tried to put that native library in several different directories in jre/lib but still had no luck.
Is there anybody know the solution? Does JVM1.4 allow me to put a custom jar file that requires a native library in the bootclasspath?
Regards,
EmanWell is your file in a directory included in the java.library.path environement variable. I use java on windows but I have to add the directory where my native library is to the path variable (not classpath) in order to avoid the error you get.

Native Music Application Stuck on Skip
I looked for a better location to start this discussion, but I can't seem to find a place already started to discuss the native music app that comes with the iPhone.
While there are applications listed such as iTunes U, iBooks, iPhoto, etc under iOS apps, the music app is not there.
Moving on to my predicament:
When the new ios7 came out, one feature I was excited to start playing with was the new iTunes Radio. At first it worked, I added a chanel, listened to it, thumbed up a couple songs, etc.
The next day I go to continue listening to my added channel. It will not play. Instead, it scrolls through (right to left) song name after song name, not stoping no matter what I press. I tried restarting app and phone alike. This was the first day...I gave up and tried a day later. Now it scrolls through and stops after 6 songs (as though I myself were skipping the songs and it had reached its limit.
It does this every time I add a station, and if I play a station without adding it, it plays the first song and then skips by 6 song titles incredibly fast.
I wanted to bring this up here in case it was happening to anyone else.
Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for any recomendations and/or feedback.Thank you Rod for the clarification.
As an added note. I finally got a response from Oracle Support regarding my question and posted below:
"Yes. You can skip to section 7 not step 7
Correct one is section 7. as in Note - 417558.1 (but internal note,not published)
It should be

There was a remark on the Note 313418.1 to change this. -

Java Threads vs. Native Global Variables
A brief description of the problem:
I am trying to integrate a multi-threaded Java app with legacy Fortran code. The Fortran code in question makes extensive use of global variables in the form of Fortran's Common Block data structure.
If multiple threads were allowed access to a native routine, they would over write each others data which is stored in global variables.
If only one thread at a time can have access to the native routine for the duration of the native routine, the whole advantage of using threads is completely nullified.
These native routines cannot be rewritten (3rd party code) and must be used.
One solution I envisioned was to load a new copy of the native shared object code for each Java object that used the native code. However, it seems System.loadLibrary() can only be used in a static context.
Is there any known solution to this problem?Here is an elaboration on the earlier suggestions. It's a high overhead solution, because you have to start a bunch of JVMs.
1. You have a java control program, which will start up a pool of "services", make requests to them, and gather the results.
2. Each service is a small java program with a native method:
o java communications front-end.
o native method declaration.
o native - in your case fortran - method implementation.
3. Each service is started using "exec". That puts it in a separate process.
4, Since each service is a java program, you can use java to do communications between the control program and the service.
o You could use RMI.
o You could - perhaps - use java Process communications, i.e., have the services write to stdout, and have the control program capture the output.
o You could use socket communications.
