    Hi Mythily,
If you already know something about explortion of oil, then you will find PRA (production and revenue acconting) interesting. This module deals with exploration of oil and gas and then distributing the revenue to owners.
You can find detailed information in help.sap.com. Follow the link given below for PRA help:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_oil46csp2/helpdata/en/ec/9d2c3adcc8431be10000000a114084/frameset.htm
Reading some of the material will give you more clarity whether you like it or not.
And it is perfectly fine to have ABAP knowledge, that will help in going deep into Oil and gas.

  • Capitvate in Oil & gas industry?

Anyone have any expamples of capitvate being used in oil and gas industries? Boilers? Pipelines?
was wondering if this would be good for training as I am new to captivate and have not used it yet. Our company is thinking about using this in conjuction with an LMS but would like to see what benefit captivate would have.
    Thanks

Captivate would be great for the oil and gas industry, especially with regards to safety. I work for a University in their Risk Management Department and Adobe Captivate has been tremendous for us. I can imagine all sorts of applications and I would encourage you to pursue using it, likely in conjunction with additions of other software like Adobe After Effects.
Adobe Captivate already has a lot of clout in the elearning world, so you would not have a problem using Captivate with your LMS, and it could potentially make training much easier for you. I've even bounced around the idea of using Captivate for employee competitions, setting up a trivia day where last-man-standing wins (which you can indeed score on Captivate), or setting up a Safety bingo system with Captivate. Lots of possibilities.

  • Oil & Gas Industry Solution

    Hi Gurus,
I am working on the Implementation project for the Oil and Gas industry.
    Scenario is
The business is to look for the oil/gas etc within a location or project site. For this drilling is done and blasting is done and data acquisition is done and after that data is processes and data interpretation is done.
and client is having projects at different sites. every site has a no . of equipments and their stocks as well.
Now the problem is how to map this scenario. How to configure the project sites and issuance of material and capturing of expenses. etc.
If any body has done the work on this type of solution, please give the solution.

  • Set up of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas)

    Hi Friends,
I have a scenario with the LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). It comes through the pipe(marine) to the terminal and then get converted to Natural Gas and finally delivered to customer through pipeline.
Could anyone please help me with the steps to set up QCI/ASTM for this scenario?
    Thanks,
    Vidhu.

    Hi Vidhu,
I assume that you are referring to the ASTM D1250 standard.
This standard contains no support for natural gas.
There is only one solution which will enable your organisation to calculate all necessary LNG and NG scenarios - BCS (the BCG product) from QuantityWare GmbH.
    (I'm the M.D.)
    See: www.quantityware.com - Solution BCS 10B - product BCG.
    Hope that this helps.

  • SAP Business one for GAS Industry

    Dear Experts,
My client is in GAS Manufacturing Industry. We calibrated multiple gases as per client requirement. we sale the gases sometimes with cylinder, some time cylinder on rentle besis and refilling the cylinder.
Pls tell me how to manage the below process in SAP.
    1. Receipt of empty cylinder from customer.
    2. Production of Gases & filling it in cylinder.
    3. The rent calulation of cylinder from the date of Invoiced to the date of receipt of empty cylinder.
    4. Ageing report cylinderwise.
    5. The history of cylinder (how manytimes cylinder refilled)
    Regards
    Datta Kharat

    hi
In my opinion u would require to manage the cylinder with serial number
when u receive the cylinder from the customer to be filled in that case u can receive it in  form of putting the minus sign in front of the quantity and could receive in whatever warehouse u want that would increase the quantity of cylinder received in that particular warehouse
    issue 2
i would like to know that what exact problem u are having in this concern ?
    issue 3
the return of cylinder i belie would be as per the payment period defined so u can define a account for return of cylinder in the freight setup and while filling the document u can fill the amount keeping in mind per day cost of cylinder * nu of payment period defined and if there is a delay u can raise a  invoice stating late charges
hope the few points are worth trying

  • How to find a good LV Application programmer

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this or not.  I apologize if it is not.
I have developed a pretty sophisticated application for traders/investors that is
close to being ready to go to market.  However, I do not consider myself a very
good LV programmer (done it for years but more of a hack).
I was planning on just shelving this product and never releasing but I have
a strong marketing channel (www.iitm.com) that badly wants to release this product
and they have a ton of clients that follow them.  We already have clients willing to
do testimonials on the version that I have provided but IMO, this product is not
    ready to release.
I am looking for the best way to find a good programmer who could take what I have, do
any clean up to make high quality, and get a releasable product.  In return, this person
could then make a continuing income stream as this product hopefully will sell for years.
I have tried the "rentacoder" route for other things with mixed success.  for this project,
trying to find the best way to find someone who can demonstrate their quality already and
is looking for a good entreprenuerial activity.

Sounds like a man who knows how to make things work. I am available and would like to have the opportunity to discuss things with you. I have been using LV since 1985 (yes, that's 20 years--my how time flies when you're having fun...) and have worked in the natural gas industry, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, fiber-optics, process control and a bunch of other things I can't remember right off hand.
    Details available on request...

  • Mobile site for Industrial Supplier?

    Hey gang,
I am wondering what the concensus would be on this topic. I don't know how prolific mobil sites are, outside of entertainment genres.
We have been an industrial company that largely works towards the oilfield market and related industries. We now are jumping into what is called, Specialty Gases which still deals here but also moves us into laboratory, natural gas transmission and other, highly technical fields. With this in mind, I realize the customers/individuals are of a different caliber, they are likely more technologically savvy.
With this in mind, do we seem like a good candidate? Do you see a potential ROI?
    What do you think?
    Rob

    Hi Rob
Mobile friendly/specific sites are said to be the big growth area now, but they said that last year as well !
The easiest way is probably to check your site stats  for the number of visitors using mobile os's and browsers. But even that may not be enough, I can tell you that designing and building a site specifically for mobile devices is just as complex, and probably costs more if done on its own than a 'standard' desktop site.
The other thing to remember is that any ROI will be difficult to calculate as most potential customers will 'check-out' the mobile site, then actually order/contact-you using a desktop.

  • SAP oil&gas - where to start - Any advice on manuals/guides

    Hello Gurus
I am new to Oil and gas and intend to pursue this segment for the future. I am an experienced computer professional (10+ years) I am fairly well versed with SAP-MM although experience is limited. I am keen to make a career in SAP Oil and Gas - possibly Upstream or Downstream whichever is possible to learn. I am in the midst of registering myself for a course  in Oil&Gas Accounting or Joint venture analyst. I have not found any course for Downstream. With that said, I have even rented a SAP Oil&gas server to practice. The problem is that I need to get some guidance as to how to go about this in a methodical way.
I have started to read the manuals along side the SAP - JVA guide that they use for training at SAP. However, there is no step by step guide/manual provided by SAP to really practice or build in order to learn and get a from grasp of the subject. I have found some configuration steps in the SAP Oil&Gas online help files or MySAPOil&Gas while reading. However, the reading of the manuals and online help is only theoretical. One needs some exercises to be performed in order to get a grasp of what is what. Where to start, what to configure outside of basic set-up and why?.
Would anybody be able to guide me as to how to pursue my goals?.
    1. Is it possible to learn JVA by using the SAP training guide?.
    2. Is it possible to learn TSW by using the SAP training guide?.
    3. Does the system need to be configured and set-up before one can use the SAP Oil&Gas server?. - What specific configuration would be required for Downstream outside of the default configuration after installation.
    4. What sort of configuration / set-up would be required for JVA?.
(I am aware that every joint venture is different - partner, operator, Eguity group and even Equity)
       a. will the creation of company codes be the usual route as in other SAP modules?.
       b. Is there any special set-up or configuration within the JVA menu for this that is in addition to the normal creation of company code and Enterprise structure?.
    5. Is there any book or manual that can provide additional information as to how to go about learning this subject in order to practice?.
    6. What special requirements are required to learn the downstream module apart from the manuals?.
    7. Can one really learn SAP upstream/Downstream in 30-40 hours being promised/provided by most so called training providers in Bangalore/Hyderabad?.
I am seriously looking forward to hearing from experienced professionals. I'd appreciate if contributors avoid one or two line statements as I would like to make the thread more meaningful for me and for others in a similar situation.
Thank you for you help and assistance.
    Cecil

    Cecil:
each module inside has one sap training module linked to it. I believe the questions you are asking aren't really important when it comes to starting your career path in IS oil. Everything is possible, but to certain extent. You can learn the basic from the training, but to apply that to the business situation, industry experience is needed.
with training guide, you obtain the basic background and knowledge on terminologies. To become an expert, you need the working experience and lots of researching online.
Most times Oil and Gas companies use some of the modules provided by Is Oil, for example, TSW and MAP are common ones. If you have time, start with these ones before you lost yourself in all the modules.
I can ask the following questions.
    5. Is there any book or manual that can provide additional information as to how to go about learning this subject in order to practice?.
Training is high cost but not necessary. The training manual starts with IOG follows with three digits, you can do some research and learn on your own. If you can't get your answer by searching online, then pay some money to let professionals lead you into the door
    6. What special requirements are required to learn the downstream module apart from the manuals?.
knowledge on supply chain management, especially in Oil and gas industry. that being said, SAP SD&MM knowledge is often associated and required.
    7. Can one really learn SAP upstream/Downstream in 30-40 hours being promised/provided by most so called training providers in Bangalore/Hyderabad?.
Define learn. enough to get yourself inthe door and equip you with enough knowledge to explore on your own? yes. enough to teach you enough to handle job tasks? no.
in SAP start up phase, learning is an endless topic, after two years, you are still learning.
    Hope these helps

    Hi Rajiv,
Stream is determined by the flow of material.
UpStream :- In Oil and Gas industry initial investment is very high for locating the source for crude oil and then getting the permission for the government of the country where that source lies and then extraction of the oil. a company all along can not bear that expanse so it involves big join ventures ... and in this if you notice then the material (crude oil) is following up .. i.e. from underground source to refineries .. this is called up streams and this covers join venture accounting, and all the finance related stuffs. for more detail on this check out this link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_oil472/helpdata/en/ec/9d2c3adcc8431be10000000a114084/frameset.htm
Downstream :- This includes the refinement, storage, transportation, measurement and retail of final oil and gas product ......
In existing core R/3 sales and distribution a lot of changes has been done for down stream oil and gas functionality. for more detail in this please check out this link :
