Nautilus-elementary, icon error after GTK3/Gnome3 update..?

When I move a file or a folder around with the cursor, I normally see the icon and the text of the file/folder while I move it.
But now I see only a little gray icon all the time, when I move a folder or a file around with the cursor.
Here is a picture of how it looked before:

This problem does not exist in the normal Nautilus 3.
Anybody know what software there control/have influence on the icon view when moving. Because then I could possibly try to downgrade this program?
Or other there have some ideas?

Despite its awesome awesome-ness, Nautilus-Elementary has essentially been a dead project for months now. The other Elementary folk are working on Marlin, a file manager written from scratch. There isn't really any chance of downgrading it, and since it's based on GTK2 it isn't too surprising that it doesn't work in GNOME3. It works alright in XFCE and I use it in OpenBox, as those are still based on GTK2.

If the notebook worked prior to an update -- and this is an entirely different can of worms and problems -- and you think that there is any chance the notebook is just in some sort of "tangled" state and not completely hosed for some reason, you can try the following non-lethal device reset:
Create a Restore Point: Create a Restore Point – Win7 OR Create a restore point Win8
If you are using a Notebook:
Close all your programs and shut down the computer
Disconnect everything (little Unifier for the keyboard / external mouse can stay)
Perform the Hard Reset for your notebook model
Boot the computer and log in
Reminder: Hard Reset is just a device Reset. The procedure does not wipe out your files nor does it destroy your Windows setup in any way. This type of reset "clears the cobwebs". Depending on the root cause of the problem, this procedure can fix a variety of computer glitches.
This does not fix severe Operating System errors -- it is just a device reset. It can fix minor problems that updates sometimes cause.

Cannot use elementary icons themes after upgrading to GTK+-2.22.0 ?

Hello All,
After upgrading to GTK+-2.22.0, elementary icons look horribly wrong for some reason. I thought maybe i need to download the icons themes again (https://launchpad.net/elementaryicons/+download) so i did download the latest elementary icons and install them in ~/icons. However, the icons themes dont look the way they should look. Therefore, I am not sure what i did wrong, or if it had to do with upgrading to GTK+-2.22.0 and i am wondering if i am missing something or need to change some setting.
I am using Xface4 as my Desktop Environments.
Any help would be much appreciated.

After upgrading, almost all of my icon themes are broken, including Elementary, which is the only one I actually care about.
*EDIT*
Recent update to libpng seems to have solved it for me. They still don't display properly in the "Appearance -> Theme -> Customize... -> Icons" dialog, but they display properly in Nautilus and on the panels.

Wlan error after a firmware update

Ok there seem to be many posts about this issue but i cannot find anything that seems to work for me.
I not to recently updated my N95 8Gb firmware to 20.0.16 and found that I was having errors with WPA on WLan, previously I had no such problem and the issue only occured after the firmware update.
to add some more info I am on a network with a linksys wrt300n
I have tried wep it works but dont want to compromise security.
All computers on the network are using wireless g and the key is definitely correct when entered
any help would be most appreciated

I don't have N95, but if the firmware is updated to latest version the wpa most likely wpa2. Having wpa in place of wep gives only very little added security for a determined hacker! It will only takes 30min to an hour to crack that. Security like that deter only the free net riders. Try if there is upgrade for your modem/router, its usualy the case. For home network wep or wpa sufficed.

Anyone else having server WEB, Wiki and certificate problems after the last update?

80246002 error after installing Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320

This problem prevents Windows Update from being able to search, download, and install updates.
I am experiencing this issue on machines running Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 Enterprise (I imagine this an issue with Windows Update and not the OS so this is probably affecting other OS' as well).
This problem is becoming widespread quickly.
The proposed fix (method 1) in the article below did not resolve the problem:

Note: Method 2 is not viable when applying more than one update at a time especially when you are updating multiple machines.

This is preventing scheduled server maintenance from being performed.

My fix that worked...
Reviewed the operational log for the WindowsUpdateClient (buried in the Event viewer here:
Application and Services Logs -> Microsoft -> Windows -> WindowsUpdateClient -> Operational
After review, I noticed that event 30 "Windows Updates established connectivity" was no longer occurring and that event 42 "There has been a change in the health of Windows Update" was the only thing after the error (Event 25 "Windows Update failed
to check for updates with error 0x80246002")
Even though the machine was restarted after applying the "Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320" patch and I had tried restarting the Windows Update service, the service appears to be hung.
Solution:
1.) restart the Windows update service
2.) monitor the operational log for the WindowsUpdateClient (refreshing every 5-10 seconds)
3.) verify that event 30 happens (you should see event 38 after restarting the service followed by (2) event 42, then event 30)
4.) Once event 30 happens go to the Windows update GUI and run the "Check for updates" - yay!
5.) You can go back into the operational log and see event 26 "Windows Update successfully found x updates" followed by an event 40 for each update found.
What is really strange is that I checked the first machine that experienced the problem and it magically fixed itself.
It seems like this may have been caused by DDOS attack on the source for windows updates that the Windows Update service connects to. Or the source location was having maintenance performed.
Regardless, in my case, this was not a problem with the OS or the patch but the inability for the Windows Update Service to establish connectivity.

I have no idea what is causing the error. I tried reinstalling pygame and the sdl libraries. But that did not help.

The self test of pygame
python -m pygame.tests.__main__
fails with several errors.
Also, I am not able to run some of the examples that come with pygame: a data/ folder seems to be missing in /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/pygame/examples/ .

Videos icons missing after ios 8 update

Hi! So after the ios 8 update, the icons in the official video app have a computer with a house inside instead of the nice picture they had. Some still have the same icon.
How to fix this?

I have this same problem with a few home videos on both my iPhone and iPad. It's the same five videos on both. After upgrading to iOS 8 on both devices, the icons disappeared. I'm searching for a solution.

ITunes and Quicktime Error after automatice Apple update, need help!!!

So I currently have a new labtop with windows vista. I have been runining iTunes for the pass 3 months already no problems. The Apple automatic update has never caused any problems till now. Quicktime needed to be updated today, and I accecpted the update, prior to that iTunes and Quicktime was working properly. Once the quicktime update was complete, it restarted my computer like usual. Then when I tried to open iTunes this error came up:
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"
Now I checked the audio configuration and nothing was changed or anything, that has not been touched at all, so I still think it had to do with the update. The next error was came up when I tried to open Quicktime and it read:
"Runtime Error!
Program C://ProgramFiles/QuickTime/QuickTimePlayer.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information"
So as long as I have been using Quicktime and iTunes I have never encountered this, I tried to re-install but the error kept coming up after it was installed. Please help me out!

Help needed - Excel macro error after Reader 11 update.

I wrote the following section of an Excel 2010 macro to open a selected pdf file with Adobe Reader, then copy all text to the clipboard & then return to Excel to paste &
process the data. The macro works with Adobe Reader 10. After I updated to Adobe Reader 11, Reader 11 will open but I get an error message of file not found. I've gone back &
forth between Reader 10 & 11 from clean installs & the problem stays with 11. The only thing I changed in the macro is the path for where Abobe Reader is located. The only

Is there any difference between the preferences for RX and RXI. Please go to "edit" -> "Preferences" -> "Security(Enhanced)" and uncheck "Enable protected mode at startup".
Are you able to open any pdf from command line with the same command:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" <<PDF_FILE>>

Photoshop CS2 Error after Leopard Software Update

After installing the software update to fix the Keychain and blah blah blah my PS CS2 will no longer allow me to do ANYTHING. I can open it up and run it, open a file I'm working on and if I try to do anything it gives me an error message saying: "Could not complete your request because of a program error"
Any help? I really dont want to reinstall as it's an upgrade version and I'd have to reinstall CS again.

First thing I would do is boot from the Leopard Install disk and use Disk Utility to Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions.
If that doesn't work you might try deleting the PS CS2 preferences.
Note: Adobe does not require you to re-install the previous version when installing upgrade software, you only have to enter the old serial number.

Badge icon disappears after 2.0 Update

After installing the Podcasts 2.0 update I noticed that the badge icon for the number of unread podcasts had disappeared. I am an experienced iPhone user and went through the normal trouble shooting steps of syncing, uninstalling an reinstalling, but the bange icon always disappears after applicaton of the Podcasts 2.0 update.
Has anybody elso noticed this behavior?

yeah an option would be good.
i'm still not sure myself whether this is intentional or a bug. especially as if you go in to the app and mark a podcast episode as played then go back to the full episode list again and then go back and mark the same one again as unplayed, then exit the app, it then shows that change on the badge app icon count, which as it's not a recent download but just recently marked as unplayed does seem a little buggy to me.

Error after SSL Certificat update

I updated the SSL certificate on a Win2003 SP2 server with IIS6.0
The initial certificat was a single URL certificate and is replaced by a wildcard one.
After installing the certificate (and it's CA chain) using the mmc I changed the certificate in IIS and configured the SSLBinding using "cscript.exe
adsutil.vbs".
The result is an SSL ERROR.
The CA chain and the certificate are two CRT files.

It seems that the key for the wild card certificate has not been found. The output shows a valid key for the other cert. ("1") but no key information for the wild card cert ("0"). I assume, that when you double-click the certificate in
the computer's Personal store you don't see the message You have a Private Key...
(on the bottom of the General tab), right?
Windows 2003 sometimes needed some extra effort to "connect" key and certificate, in addition to just importing it (I am assuming that you imported it to the machine where you had created the key).
Check if the command line tool certutil is available. If not, install the W2K3 admin pack (download e.g.
here).
Double-click the new server certificate, go to Details...
Scroll down the list of attributes and locate the Serial Number. Copy the serial number value.
At the command shell run as a local admin:
certutil -repairstore my "<Serial Number>"
If this has been successful you should now see the message You have a Private Key... when double-clicking the certificate.

IPad and iPhone runtime errors after ios 6 update at one site I use

I use an I pad and iPhone 4S. Did iOS 6 updates and have no problems. However today I went to one site, the NGC collectors society ( registery section requiring sign in) that I use and get the following error below. I have cleared the cookies on my iPad and restarted, but still get the same error. I also made sure java script was on. The same with the iPhone. So far this is the only problem I have had with the new ios6. The site works fine with my laptop which is a MacBook Pro that is updated with the latest system software.

Try to deactivate the FACEBOOK INTEGRATION (go to settings).. After i removed it to my iphone 4 All apps are now doing fine... No more crashing of apps :-) hope it works for you...
The problem is with facebook, go to settings / facebook / your user name and delete your account, the do a hard reset (home+power for some seconds).
dont need to delete the facebook app! just delete your integrate account from settings
