Navbar font appears miniscule in some browsers

Why does the Navbar font size appear miniscule in some browsers, but fine in others?
My Website is paranormalstateillustrated.com
I'm using iWeb '08 version 2.0.4, "Darkroom" theme.
Navbar items appear miniscule in Safari version 3.1.2, but are "normal" when working in iWeb.
Navbar items (font size) appear fine in Firefox version 3.0.3- BUT I've had someone else say the Navbar links are too small when they use Firefox. What could cause this difference?
Should I just deselect the "Display navigation menu" in the Inspector, and build my own Navbar to help ensure all browsers display the same font/size?
Thank you for your input!

Roddy,
Thank you for your quick reply. I found why the Navbar appears miniscule in my Safari browser, and why it looked small in someone else's Firefox browser. It has to do with the "Preferences" of each browser.
SAFARI browser:
Select "Preferences" from the Safari pull-down menu.
Click on the "Appearance" tab.
Select a "Standard font" size large enough so it doesn't appear too small. Times 14 works okay.
FIREFOX browser:
Select "Preferences" from Firefox pull-down menu.
Select the "Content" tab.
Pick a larger font size under the "Fonts & Colors" section of the "Content".
That fixes the font size problem. It wasn't something "wrong" with iWeb.
I do, however, like your explanation that viewer's are seeing paranormal!
Thank you!

  • Fonts appear white on some pages

    On my work computer some pages show text as white (or maybe even clear) on a white background with Firefox (screen shot: http://www1.coe.neu.edu/~christin/temp/Firefox.JPG) while in IE the text appears fine (http://www1.coe.neu.edu/~christin/temp/IE.JPG). When I use a different computer, firefox shows the pages ok. I have tried changing the color options in Tools, Options, Content, Colors but no matter what combination I try the page is still white on white. I can select the text in Firefox and it will highlight but is still not readable when highlighted so the text might actually be clear if that is possible instead of white. I can copy and paste it into another program such as Word or Notepad and it appears fine. Not all web pages are affected but the ones that are make me have to switch to another browser to view them. This started sometime last year after a firefox update. I have also completely uninstalled Firefox and all the user information and reinstalled firefox but it didn't affect anything. I don't know what else to check.

    Did you try yo clear the cache?
    Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
    That text is specified as:
    <pre><nowiki>font-family: Helvetica,Arial,Verdana,sans-serif;
    color: #333;
    font-size: 1em;
    </nowiki></pre>
    It is possible that you have a problem with the Helvetica font. Old, Mac bitmap versions of the Helvetica font have been mentioned a lot of times as causing problems in Firefox. You can try to uninstall all version of the Helvetica font in 'Control Panel > Font" to see if that helps.

  • After upgrading to OS 10.10 some fonts appear blurry. Specifically top menu bar, desktop icons, mail

    After upgrading to OS 10.10, some fonts appear blurry. Specifically top menu bar, desktop icons, mail and Safari. This only occurs after the computer has been running for awhile, not immediately after startup. I'm running an iMac, 20 inch, Mid-2007 with the following graphics: ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128 MB.
    It's not a huge problem, just darn annoying. Thoughts anyone?

    Hi,
    Please note that this upgrade related problem would very likely be what has been covered by the support document at the link below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2537
    If you also find any files named to include MessageSorting (which would mean you once have upgraded from a version of OSX earlier than 10.4, which is clearly the case for you), remove those, also, but never restore those.
    Often this is all that needs to be done, but you might then need to force an overall reindexing via the removal of the Envelope Index. Note the special instructions when forcing the reindexing of IMAP or Exchange accounts in the following:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mail/3.0/en/14019.html
    This will force the reindexing of all the POP mailboxes and all On My Mac mailboxes. With regard to any IMAP accounts if you have any, the practical result of this action of removing the account folder, is that with the IMAP account still set up in the Preferences, Mail will connect to the IMAP server and create a new account folder, and while doing so will index the messages in the mailbox folders of the IMAP accounts on the server.
    Keep me posted.

  • Can flash3d effect font size in some browsers?

    hello;
    I have an swf that has many dynamic textfields;
    a couple of them are inside of an mc that has been rotated in xyz-space via the properties panel;
    these particular tf's are not displaying correctly in some browsers.
    tf's are embedded.
    any thoughts?
    thanks.

    I do not believe that it is actually an OS or browser-dependant problem.
    I am on a XP, FF 3.6.12 and all tf's are fine;
    but if I go to browsercam.com ( remote browsing site for development testing ) and test on their XP, FF 3.6.10 the tf's have the problem. I have also tested on many of their other setups ( various OS's, various browsers ) and almost all of their machines are demonstrating the problem.
    it seems that only the tf's that are within a 3d mc are being affected ... I am in the process now of un-3d'ng the 3d_mc to see what happens ...
    tf's are embedded.

  • Fonts looking bold on my browsers

    Hi everyone,
    I'm using a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) with OS X Yosemite.
    For some reason I don't understand on all my browsers (Safari, Firefox and Chrome) in some pages, included Wordpress Dashboard, Admin, etc,... fonts appear in bold.
    I searched online and try everything, clearing duplicates on Font Book, clearing cache in all browsers after that.
    This is just a screenshot of one of the pages I've been visiting.
    Did any of this happen to you guys? I would appreciate some help here.
    Thanks.

    Hi guys,
    I have some more input about my problem.
    I created a new User on my machine, moved all my files there, while I was waiting to Apple Support to call me today.
    Everything was fine, no bold font, etc,....
    Then, I tried to add the favourites from my other user to Safari and Firefox, the browsers don't actually saved them, imported several times in both browsers and nothing.
    Also tried to set up Google as my homepage in Safari, it allows me to set up as Homepage: current page, but it doesn't work.
    After I performed this tasks I gave up and started working, and then is when the same problem (bold font on Wordpress sites, as far as I know) in my new user.
    I don't know what to do people, I'm really stress about it, I make a living of designing and building websites, so this is a big deal(problem) for me.
    I would really appreciate some help from anyone out there in the community.
    Thanks.

  • Keynote PDF output: fonts appear "bold", milky background

    Hello,
    we observed two problems when exporting a Keynote presentation into PDF ("export" and "print" exhibit the same behaviour):
    (1) when opening the PDF in Preview, the medium-size fonts appear to be "bolder" than in the presentation, small fonts look OK. We have tried several fonts (e.g. Trebuchet), the effect seems to be independent of the font. Colors look exactly as in the presentation.
    (2) when opening the same PDF in Acrobat 8 Pro on either Mac or PC, the fonts look OK but all colours look as if through a "milky glass layer". This is an effect which is probably related to some color space conversion.
    A similar topic was discussed last November, but no satisfying solution was presented. Many thanks in advance for any help with this.

    It doesn't seem to matter what the Registry/Ordering is - I still get the error. I do recall that setting it to something known like Adobe and Japan1 had other effects, though, such as incorrectly chosen glyphs, though those could have been related to other issues we had at the time.
    Since any value seems to prompt the issue, it leaves me even more confused as to what could be the root of this problem. Distiller seems to bypass embedding CMaps by using the "Identity" encoding and simply writing the glyph indeces into the text stream. Does Preflight just not like embedded CMaps?
    I have uploaded a sample document to acrobat.com if anyone wants to take a look. It has several changes from the original description, in an attempt to root out the problem. Here is the URL:
    https://share.acrobat.com/adc/document.do?docid=4284cd55-d710-411f-8a91-51359564a78b
    Thanks again for any help.

  • Navigation & Photo Page not displaying within some browsers

    Hello,
    I am using iWeb '08 and am having great difficulties trying to get my site cross browser compatible. The site is working perfectly on the Mac in Firefox 2 & Safari but not Firefox 3. It is also not displaying correctly in Firefox 2.0.0.13 and IE7 on my WinXP machine. Unfortunately the error is not just a cosmetic issue. The Main Navigation is not displaying on any page and only shows a bullet point where it is meant to be. The other error occurs in the Photo Template and the photos are not displaying. I am using a "Version 1 template" and did a test with a "version 2" template that provided the same errors.
    Has anyone else had these problems???

    You have applied a height of "auto"to your menubar container, which gives it no height at all in some browsers. If you have a clue what height you would like to display for your menubar, give it, instead of:
        <div style="height: auto;" id="p7PMM_1" class="p7PMMh04">
    Better yet, leave it in the CSS file, where you will find it when you go looking for it. You already assign a height there:
    .p7PMMh04 {
        width: auto;
        height: 20px;
        margin: 0 auto;
        font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        font-size: 11px;
        font-weight: bold;
        background-image: url(http://home.roadrunner.com/~jgigandet/trinity/img/new_bk.gif);
        background-repeat: repeat-x;
        background-color: #000;
        text-align: left;
        line-height: normal;
    Because your inline style of height:auto; has more proximity (is closer) to the element being styled, it overrides the style in the stylesheet and applies the height: auto; instead of allowing the height: 20px;

  • Font appearance jumping between light and bold

    When I first open thunderbird in the morning, fonts appear bold [as if all unread] then if i quit thunderbird and try again it open with font as light, with only unread email showing as bold.

  • Japanese fonts appear larger in Flash Player  10.0.42.34

    Hi
    We're experiencing a strange problem in a flash swf object embedded on an aspx page in a .net web application.
    Environment :
    Adobe Flash Player  :  10.0.42.34
    Browesers : IE 6 , 7  Firefox 3.5
    Client machine configuration :
         Windows XP SP3
         East Asian Language Pack installed.
         Flash player version 10.0.42.34 installed.
    We're displaying Japanese text on the page through the flash player.
    What happens is that randomly on some client machines the Japanese fonts appear too large in size while on others
    they appear perfectly fine.
    We also have English , Honkkong and Chinese  versions of the page ..all of which work perfectly fine across all client machines.
    The issue is only with the Japanese version.
    Any pointers on this guys .... ?
    Please help !!!!
    Thanks

    Sure , here is the url :
    http://www.forevermark.com/ja-jp/The-World-of-Forevermark-/Precious-Collection/
    On some machines , the Japanese text in the centre section appears very large. ..( see attached snapshot)
    We initially encountered this on the version prior to the 10.0.42.34 version.
    However even after the upgrading to 10.0.42.34 , the problem still persists .

    I’m Using Dreamweaver Studio 8.0. on the PC.
    Some of my CSS Styles info does not work in some browsers.

    properly
    .copyright {
    font-size: 9px;

    color: #FFFFFF;
    Again, it works fine in FireFox 1.5 and Netscape 8. But in IE
    6.0.2 and Safari 2.0.3 the copyright section:
    1. does not change to the smaller font
    2. does not change font color
    3. has no background color
    Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Flash not appearing in IE 8 but appears in all other browsers

    Hi,
    I've inserted my flash  swf file using Dreamweaver CS4 and it looks great and appears in all other browsers including IE 7 and IE6, but when I try to view it in IE8 nothing appears but a big blank white space. Can someone help me figure out how to make it appear in IE8 as well? Here is the page I've having trouble with.

    Unable to see your Flash in IE6 on WinXP.  Also, in IE6 your page is not centered. Possibly caused by code validation errors and the fact that some of your file paths are pointing to your local computer drive instead of the site.  Specifically these.
    behavior: url("file:///C|/websites/BenEverson/3ColumnHybridHeaderandFooter_images/iepngfix.htc");
    <script src="file:///C|/Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    Use the online validation tools listed below.

    This font issue is driving me crazy..I have set the font to helvetica light on my site but when i publish the site on mobileme some sections appears as bold randomly. i have tried highlighting text and changing font type to helvetica light again but even though it appears as light in iweb when published it is still bold.
    Is there an easy solution to this please?

    I'm having the same issue as shannondasilva. Looks great offline in iweb but as soon as I publish my site the font appears bolder and thicker than it should. Very annoying and not consistent enough for Apple. Anyone worked out a way of making the font appear as it should without having to convert the text to an image, etc. I want my text to be found by google so it needs to remain as text. And yes I'm using standard Helvetica and Arial websafe fonts. Please can someone help here???

  • I upgraded to Firefox 6 random websites are using illegible fonts from my computer instead of the default. No issues with Firefox 5 or any other browser I use. Each time I open Firefox or reinstall it a different illegible font appears. Please help.

    Firefox 6 using incorrect fonts.

    When I delete the font that keeps showing up as the default, a new illegible font appears. The fonts are not 'garbled' they are just decorative typefaces that are being grabbed from my computer. I have never had an issue with my fonts on old Firefox versions or other browsers like chrome, safari, etc., so I don't think the issue is my fonts. I also don't want to have to delete all the fonts off of my computer. I uploaded another photo of when I deleted the font that was appearing before. Please help if anyone has found a solution to this problem with Firefox 6+ :/
