Navigate from a Narrative Report

I have a narrative report (A), with a link to another report (B). Report B has a prompt, I want to pass this prompt via the Narrative report A is that possible. Has anybody attempted that. I would appreciate any pointers.
Thanks

hi,
i don't think there exists any out-of-the box solution through front-end.
If you know what fields appear on the detail report, provide a PRE-DEFINED drill path in the rpd to all the columns from the date column.

  • Narrative Report with Iframe to dispay

    Hi,
I have a Requirement for displaying activities of a contact on contact related information page in a calendar format, for this i've created report with calling calendar iframe in report and displaying it in the layout througjh webapplet but it showing all the activities instead showing the related contact activities in the calendar.
Please see the report parameters and webapplet parameters below:
    Narrative Report:
    </td><td><iframe src="/OnDemand/user/GrpCalendar" width="830" height="400" scrolling="no" name="calendarFrame" onload="document.frames['calendarFrame'].scrollTo(170,115)"></iframe></td></table>
    Web Applet
    iframe frameborder="0" height="400px" width="100%" scrolling=auto src='/OnDemand/user/analytics/saw.dll?Go&Path=%2fshared%2fCompany_HE2790-1JAZ2_Shared_Folder%2fContacts_By+Calendar&Options=r&Action=Navigate&p0=1&p1=eq&p2=Contact."Contact ID"&p3=%%%Id%%%'></iframe>.

    Bhas,
What you are including in the Narrative report will only show the user's calendar, there is nothing in your example which would modify the Calendar view to display activities related to a Contact. This is a fundamentally flawed approach and has no chance of working.
You can use a web applet to display a report which shows Activities related to a Contact. To display these in a "calendar" format, you will need to completely build the calendar from scratch in html. Narrative can be used for this, perhaps, but it seems a lot of work. Unfortunately there are no shortcuts.
    Good luck,

  • Narrative report-Dynamic

    hi
i have created narrative report ,working fine. i want my report should dynamically generate based on the'ACCOUNT Type' field .(i.e)if Account Type for that record is "Customer" it goes to Report1,else Report2.is that possible?
    Need Help..!
    Regards
    Sowm

If you name your reports in a meaningful way, as Alex suggests, then yes you can do this. So, create the reports and name them for the combination of fields, for example "Customer In Progress", then create your URL and pass the field values accordingly.
    Example of URL:
    https://secure-ausomxXXX.crmondemand.com/OnDemand/user/ReportIFrameView?SAWDetailViewURL=saw.dll?Go%26Path%3D%252fSomeFolder&AnalyticReportName=%%%Type%%%+%%%Account_Status%%%
My example assumes that you will use a weblink that users will click to run the report. To create the URL, first build your reports and run them from the report menu directly. Copy the URL and paste it into the weblink URL Link Properties. Then, change the URL to be dynamic, as shown above.

  • Narrative Report Performance

I have created a Narrative Report in the Reporting section (Not Analytics) because the customer might need to see the report within the same day. I know the performance will be slower but how much slower? The report takes about 1-2 minutes to generate...is that normal. I am only pulling from a few areas Owned by User, Date Opened, Opportunity and Contact. I have also created a prompt that will only pull data from 1 Oppty. record. My question is that normal performance from the Reporting side or is there something I can do to help performance?

Be careful spending time on a Narrative Report if your end goal is to print to PDF. Currently Oracle CRM OnDemand is deffective when it comes to printing Narrative Reports.
For example we designed a customer contract spending weeks on formatting and design only to find out that the Printer Friendly PDF option scrunches the entire report into 2 inches. Aweful!
Oracle response to the enhancement request has not been much better.

  • Robohelp 9: What are the hotkeys to navigate from pane to pane?

    Greetings!
I was a heavy robohelp X5 user, looking to get back to robohelp!
v9 looks pretty nice! (Playing with the demo)
I used to be able to use alt-1, alt-2, ctrl-1, ctrl-2 (etc) to navigate from editor to project mgr, index view, etc.
I don't see how to use kbd to do this in v9.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks!!

    Hi there
Perhaps the video below will help?
Also, keep in mind that once you make these changes you will need to ensure RoboHelp is properly closed and restarted. By taking that additional step you will ensure the assignments "stick". If RoboHelp were to crash after making these changes, it would not have updated the Windows Registry so when you started it again the changes would be missing.

  • Narrative reports not showing beyond first page if printed out

I'm trying to print out a CO1/CO2 record using the 'printer friendly' function.
Although everything appears fine on screen, all narrative reports in the related information sections do not appear in the printout if it extends to more than 1 page. This only occurs for IE6 which is our company default browser. We will be upgrading to IE7 but that will be only some time next year and till then, the users need to print out these reports. I've also tested and it doesn't happen for firefox as well.
I'm out of workarounds/ideas so if anyone has any, it's greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
I did not understand the requirement completely but would suggest you to use STARTPAGE field of the CONTROL_PARAMETERS structure.
We use CONTROL_PARAMETERS while calling the SMART Form from Application program as an import parameter. By default SmartForms is printed from First page. If you want it to start printing from some other page set the field 'CONTROL_PARAMETERS-STARTPAGE'.
    Hope it helps.

  • Narrative Reports based on multiple records

    Hi experts,
We are trying to build email template via SOD report (similar to mail merge template, but the SOD report can retrieve data from multiple record types).
What we are thinking is to use narrative report...but we are not able to create the report that first page only reflects the data from first record, 2nd page reflects the data from 2nd report, and so on. (something look like a letter, each page will merge with the data from corresponding record)
Can anyone advise how to do the work?
    Thanks,
    Sab.

    Hi experts,
are we able to create narrative report for multiple records? e.g. 1 single page narrative report, first page reflects the data of first customer record of the report, second page reflects the data of the second record, and so on.
    Please advise..
    Thanks in advance,

  • Narrative report problem

I am just learning about the narrative reporting function.
I have a report where I want a narrative report to list among other things
    Account Name
    Assets - Product Names
I would like the Account and Customer name listed once, and a list of Assets to follow.
    For example:
    Acme Industrial Company
    John Smith
    Product A
    Product B
    Product C
    etc
I am finding that if I have the number of rows set to more than one (ie 5 times) , the report will display each individual product, but it also redisplays the Account and Customer name.
    (i.e.)
    Acme Industrial Company
    John Smith
    Product Name A
    Acme Industrial Company
    John Smith
    Product Name B
    Acme Industrial Company
    John Smith
    Product Name C
Does anyone know if you can specify that things like the Account, Customer name only display once while the multiple products will be displayed?
I didn't see if there is a way to repress certain rows from being displayed multiple times
    I hope this makes sense.

    u need multiple narrative section.
In ur report, Add view->Narrative (which will become Narrative 1 for the 1st time)
    then add the Account Name
Remember to specify "Row to display=1"
    then click ok.
again, Add view->Narrative (which will become narrative 2)
then add the Assets - Product Names
leave out the "Row to display" (as this will display multiple time)
    then click ok.
    should get it by then

  • Passing date parameter from forms to report

    Hi,
I'm using forms and reports 6i.
I want to pass one date parameter from forms to reports.
    Using
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'P_FROM_DATE',TEXT_PARAMETER,:FROM_DT);
giving me error REP-0091- Invalid value for parameter 'P_FROM_DATE'
This i think is because report expects date and here it is converted as varchar.
    Please help

    Hi Divya,
Even I use this kind of statement
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'P_FROM_DATE',TEXT_PARAMETER,:FROM_DT);and works fine for me.
This i think is because report expects date and here it is converted as varchar
    Correct.
Open the report in the builder and under Data Model -> User Parameters, Go to the Property Inspector of P_FROM_DATE. Under Parameter, set Datatype as Character instead of Date.
Hope this should work. and tell me if it works(coz it wokred for me).

  • How to copy line items from one expense report to the next

I travel to the same project/destination every week so in PR05, I was able to just copy the previous expense report for the new week and edit the expense values. Now, when I book travel, the air line booking starts a new expense report entry.
Is there a way to copy the employee-paid expenses to the GetThere-generated trip entry expense report, i.e. just copy the line items from one expense report to another that already exists. I guess that would be a merge function.

    Hi Tom,
    Here are two alternative solutions:
    Alternative 1:
If you copy the expense report before you book the services (flight, hotel …)
in GetThere, then the airline or hotel bookings will not start a new expense
report but will be assigned to the copied expense report.
    Alternative 2:
This alternative is a bit laborious.
Shift the start date and end date of the expense
report  that was automatically created by
your flight booking for next week (e.g. Calendar Week (CW)  47) to the week after next week (e.g. CW 48).
Copy the expense report of the previous week (e.g.
    46)
Afterwards open the expense report that you
moved to CW 48 and click on the tab strip itinerary
Now assign the bookings (flight, hotel …) to the
expense report of CW 47 by clicking on the button assign to existing trip
Later delete the expense report in CW 48
Get back to me if you have any questions concerning the alternatives outlined
    above.
    Note:
These solution alternatives are only available for customes using HTML5 UIs.

  • Using Javscript in Narrative report

    Hi,
Can anyone help me how to use a javascript in Narrative report, Its better if anyone could send the sample code. I am trying to create a label kind of a report using narrative option, I am able to create 12*1 format i.e(12 rows and 1 columns) , but i wanted in 12*2 format i.e.(12 rows and 2 columns). I hope using javascript we can achieve this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ambarish

    Hi,
What you can do is, create another view with either narrative or static script, and in that call javascript. In this new script, read the html code of report generated, by doing document.getElementsByTagName("td") or document.getElements ByTagName("tr") depending on your table structure. Introduce alert statments for debugging and you will be able to read rows one by one.
It would be better to use pivot table structure as you will be able to read all the data at once.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Hyperlink from PL SQL Report to a branch

    Hi,
Is there a "good" way to hyperlink from PL SQL report to a branch?
I cant use the regular report, as there is a lot of data and I need to control the layout.
I would like to go to another page and pass data to one known field.
Have tried googling and I found this page:
    http://www.lucidprocess.com/blog/building-hyperlinks-in-oracle-apex-reports/
But it seems a bit "hacky", eg.. many places to edit if the page where to move or change in the future (or if one copies the page).
Is there a more "clean" way to do this, or does one have to get his/her hands dirty for such a task?

    Thank you.
I managed to write the other code too:
"f?p='||:APP_ID||':686:'||:APP_SESSION||'::'||:DEBUG||'::P686_TBNR,P686_VIS_REGISTER:'||oppdrag.PE_TBNR_BET||'%2CHUSKNYTT"instead of firing the branch and using JS, I just set the two fields that change the logic and basis of the page. However as you see, the "flaw" with the code I wrote, is that if the fields or anything were to change, it will be harder to go in and edit reports that have this type of code.
Have just started with APEX, but I must say I like it a lot..
Just wish there where something inbetween the sql reports and the pl sql reports..
The possibilities of the PL SQL Reports meeting the SQL Reports flexibility would be super.
However, maybe it's good not everything is served on a plate, as this forces me to learn it more in depth. I also love challenges and I like making things properly :-)

  • Report 2 returning data from previously ran report 1 - Plus/Viewer

    Hello,
We have an issue running through discoverer viewer and plus.
If you run the first report with a parameter for the year with this returns the correct data. However if you run report after the first with year 09-10, the 08-09 data is returned again from the previous report
It doesn't matter which order you run them i.e. if you run the 09-10 first and then the 08-09 the 09-10 data is returned.
The reports work fine when run in Discoverer Desktop.
When 2nd report is run after first it returns the data that appears in the first. This Does not happen on Disco Desktop. The SQL from the reports also runs correctly in TOAD.
Metalink notes suggest turning of the Webcache but this is not turned on in either apps tiers
I have also recreated both reports and this has not made a difference either.
    Regards
    Rachael

    Hi,
Even with webcache turned off Discoverer holds the results of the last run from plus/viewer in the application server and will return these results unless an explicit refresh is entered. Normally, if different parameters are entered this is recognised and the report is re-run. I don't know how you are running your report but for some reason it is not recognising the new parameters and returning the last result set. A refresh should return the correct results.
