Navigate to initial task flow in dynamic region with JDeveloper 12c

I have a home page with a dynamic region and three links and I am working with page fragments. The initial bounded task flow is "btfInicio".
The requirement is that in each bounded task flow I have to implement a close button to return to the initial bounded task flow. This is my code:
My Bean for my home page.
public class AdministradorActividades extends DataControlBean {
    private HashMap parametrosGenerales = new HashMap();
    private String taskFlowId = "/WEB-INF/btfInicio.xml#btfInicio";
    private RichRegion regionPrincipal;
    public String gestionarDatosClinicos() {
        taskFlowId = "/WEB-INF/datosClinicos/btfDatosClinicos.xml#btfDatosClinicos";
        refrescarRegion();
        return null;
    public void refrescarRegion(){
        AdfFacesContext adfContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
        UIComponent region = findComponentInRoot("rPrin");
        adfContext.addPartialTarget(region);
My Home page.
<af:decorativeBox id="db4" theme="medium"
                                                                      inlineStyle="margin-bottom:5px; margin-left:5px; margin-right:5px; margin-top:5px;">
                                                        <f:facet name="center">
                                                            <af:region value="#{bindings.regionDinamica.regionModel}"
                                                                       id="rPrin" partialTriggers="::lCli ::lCon ::lRep"/>
                                                        </f:facet>
                                                    </af:decorativeBox>
My Home page Def:
<taskFlow id="regionDinamica" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/controller/binding"
                  taskFlowId="${pageFlowScope.managerRegion.taskFlowId}" activation="deferred"
                  parametersMap="#{pageFlowScope.managerRegion.parametrosGenerales}" Refresh="ifNeeded"/>
I have tried this inside a fragment from my bounded task flow "btfdatosClinicos" where I have a button , but doesn't work. The home page is not refreshed:
        AdfFacesContext adfContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
        AdministradorActividades admActividades = (AdministradorActividades) adfContext.getPageFlowScope().get("managerRegion");
        admActividades.setTaskFlowId("/WEB-INF/btfInicio.xml#btfInicio");
        UIComponent region = findComponentInRoot("rPrin");
        adfContext.addPartialTarget(region);
If I Implement a control flow case inside my bounded task flow "btfdatosClinicos" to "btfInicio" then I can see the page fragment that correspond to the bounded task flow "btfInicio", but if I clic one of the three links, then the action event is not executed.

Hi Miguel,
I think you are complicating the requirement without needing. Why would you put the back button inside your other taskflows? This would be useful just if you are calling those from another bounded taskflows.
Look what you can do;
You can create your links for dynamic regions. Cool. But in your decorative box, in the top facet, you can drag a drop the btfinicion and display it as a link (yes, this will be your back button). and that's it. You don't need to mess with partial triggers or refrescar regiones methods.
Let me know if this doesn't impact your requirement.
By the way, en que pais trabajas?

  • Problem reentering task flow in dynamic region

    Hi All,
    I have problem with reentering task flow in dynamic region.
    JDeveloper/ADF 11.1.2.3.0
    Use Case:
    Application contains bussines modules(implemented as bounded task flows) displayed in dynamic region.
    In some modules, default activity is Method Call activity which performs some validations(input parameters, state of records in db, etc.)
    and if some conditions are not satisfied, shows message to the user and exits module (navigates to Task Flow Return activity).
    Problem:
    If user tries to start the same module again, nothing happens(message is not shown).
    If user choose some other module and after that start first module, message is shown(so I suppose this means that task flow was correctly exited first time but dynamic region state was not refreshed).
    Current implementation info:
    Dynamic region has attached regionNavigationListener which resets taskFlowId variable in dynamic region bean if regionNavigationEvent.getNewViewId() == null but this listener is not called if Method Call activity directly navigates to Task Flow Return activity.
    (if user navigates to Task Flow Return activity from button on some page, this works as expected)
    Also, I tried to reset taskFlowId variable from task flow finalizer and to programatically refresh region binding, but this still doesn't work.
    So, am I missing some point about refreshing dynamic region or this is bug in ADF?
    Thanks,
    Dario

    I don't have any popup.
    There is only page which contains dynamic region.
    This dynamic region can be empty or can contain one of business modules(bounded task flows) which are invoked from menu.
    In some cases business module must exit(by invoking task flow return activity) immediately after invocation(because some business validations fail).
    In this case, module will show message to the user.
    Problem is that if user call the same module again, nothing happens(message is not shown) because regionNavigationListener(which only purpose is to reset taskFlowId variable when business module exits) is not triggered when Method Call activity(which is default activity in BTF) navigates to Task Flow Return activity.
    Also, I tried to use Router activity instead Method Call, but problem still exists(regionNavigationListener is not triggered).
    Obviously, regionNavigationListener is called only if navigating from page(or fragment) and this is probably a bug in ADF so I opened SR.

  • Issue with refresh of task flow in dynamic region

    Hi All,
    I am using Jdeveloper version 11.1.1.6. In my fusion application I am facing an issue with the task flow refresh in the dynamic region. In my application, I have one task flow in which the side navigation command links are there and on the right side it has a dynamic region which is used to display the respective task flows on click of navigation links. Now two of the links actually call the same task flow in dynamic region but for different purpose. One for creating a record and another one for modifying the record. The default activity of that task flow has a page fragment that has couple of fields. One a drop down and another one a text field for searching the accounts against which the record is to be created or modified. On click of the navigation link, I set the task flow id to be displayed and refresh the dynamic region. Now the issue is with those two links which shows the same task flow. Let's say  I searched for a record by putting some value in input text and then went on to modify flow using the modify navigation link. Then the value that I entered in search input text in the create flow stays and does not go away. I found out the cause for the issue and this is happening because of the immediate = true on the navigation command links. Now I cannot remove that because of the obvious reason that then it will start throwing exceptions for the mandatory fields when I am in middle of any flow. Is there any way to achieve it.
    Please help as this is quite urgent. I can also upload the sample application if anyone needs it.
    Regards
    Ajay

    try to put RefreshCondition in the pageDef file for that particular task Flow and try to make that condition to true only when you switch between edit or add. While switching, make sure that the mapped bean properties should also point to respective values i.e. either empty for new or holds some value for edit.
    So, when ever the above condition returns true, task flow gets refreshes and it will holds only the current values not the old values.
    i hope this will resolve your issue.

  • Swap task flow in dynamic region from menuitem in menubar

    Hello,
    I have a dynamic region and two task flows. I have action listeners that swap the task flows into the dynamic regions. When these action listeners are tied to buttons, everything works as expected, but if i attach them to menuitems on a menubar, despite the fact the the listener is executed (based on log file debugging), the task flow in the region does not change.
    Can anyone please give me an idea why, and exactly how someone can swap a task flow in a dynamic region from a menuitem.
    I'm using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.0.1
    Thanks

    Hi,
    My guess is that the region is not added to the list of partial targets. Add a partialTrigger on the region pointing on the menu item.
    p.s. Code snippet would really help to get a more precise answer here

  • ADF Security, Task Flow as a region in a page resource grant

    JDeveloper 12c (12.1.2); Application uses ADF form based security, external LDAP provider (Active Directory)
    After sign-in page (upon successful authentication/authorization) user is forwarded to a page that executes VO method prior to render. I am new to task flow concept and am told to achieve this like:
    - create bounded task flow, with method call activity (execute exposed AM method that calls VO method, runs custom SQL) and view activity as page fragment.
    - then drop the above task flow into a page as a region
    In ADF security setup, I gave resource grant task-flow to certain application role. Started the application, login and got 403 error. Then went back and gave resource grant 'view' to the actual page that contains task flow. It worked fine.
    So the question is, when protecting application (implemented with task flows) with ADF security, I thought it is enough to grant those task flows to whatever application roles (groups) and inherently any page that uses that task flow(s) (as a region) will be protected?
    From this test, it seems that I have to assign each page (that has task flow as a region) to application roles individually?

    Hi,
    any page that is contained in a bounded task flow is protected  by the task flow permission grant, this is correct. If this is not what you see, please file a bug with support or send me a simple reproducible test case please. My mail address (replace all < name > with the described symbol.
    frank <dot> nimphius <at> oracle <dot> com
    The test case will need to be in a ZIP file nemaed to "unzip" and should be able for me to run stand alone (please no database scripts to run prior to try the test case)

  • Problem in passing parameters between flow task in a dynamic region

    Hi,
    I have a problem with the passing of parameters between task flow when it is executed within a dynamic region. To implement this, I followed the Baranovskis Andrejus Blog "JDeveloper 11g and ADF Task Flow Parameters" and everything works perfect as the task flow are not invoked from a dynamic region. But if the same task flow are converted to fragment of pages and executed in a dynamic region, the filter in the task flow that is called does not work, it does not return any records.
    Any idea that I may be missing to make this work well?.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Frank.
    My case is the first, ie in a single dynamic region, a task flow call another passing parameters to filter data to display in the second, using a task flow call activitie. As I said in the message above, everything works well as both task flow to not become unbounded task flow with fragmet page.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • How to get return values from task flow in af:region ?

    Hi!
    I'm working with a taskFlow that is rendered inside a popup using the "popup inside a region pattern" (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/patterns/popupregionpattern.pdf), but now this taskFlow has an input parameter and a return value definition. So the question is how to get a value returned by this taskFlow thas is called inside a region?
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    write the value to a shared memory scope like session and read it in the regionNavigation listener. If you follow the paper you refer to then the listener determines of the viewId is null, this a return happens. It wuld then look in the memory scope for the return value.
    Another option would be to use an object that you pass as an argument to the task flow you open in the popup. Then you change the object you passed in, which then makes the return information available in teh calling flow. The object you pass in would have to be in a shared scope too

  • Error when launching bounded task flows in dynamic tabs from UI Shell templ

    Hi Pramod,
    Have you tried setting the Transaction attributes of your task-flow? Open up your task flow definition then go to Overview Tab. Try changing the appropriate attributes like setting the transaction as "Always Begin New Transaction" and/or unchecking the "Share data controls with calling task- flow". Try to mix settings and find the one that suit your needs.

  • Navigate betwen bounded task flows

    Hi,
    I build ADF UI for BPM. In my application I have a few bounded task flows (allowed url invoked) coresponded with human tasks, and inwoked form BPM Workspace. Unbounded task flow or any start page for application is unused. In my case, user invokes bounded task flow, but should have possibility to navigate to another bouded task flow directly. What is the best way to perform this navigation ? How to do it prorammatically ?
    Kuba

    When you want to invoke another taskflow from the current taskflow -- you could use task flow call activity if it is an one-off case.
    But if you have same scenario across all of the taskflows in the same applications, i would have to exit the current taskflow and invoke the other taskflow.
    This is a well defined pattern and documented in the following post:

  • Task Flow Transaction Handling Inconsistent between JDeveloper R1 & R2.

    We have a solution developed using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.1.0.
    To describe the use case I will use the HR schema.
    The user must be able to view Regions and navigate to Countries and Locations in a hierarchical way. At each level he must be allowed to view and maintain the detail of the current record at that level. The user must also be able to navigate directly to a level and perform a search to view the data and from there be allowed to to view and maintain the detail of the current record at that level.
    So I have created the following design to achieve this and take into consideration that I need to reuse my task flows that maintain the data.
    Business Services (Model Project)
    1. HierarchyAM, containing Read Only VO’s of the various levels nested by association/view link.
    2. Region + Countries + Locations
    3. Search#Level#AM, A separate AM for each level, containing the Read Only VO per level.
    4. Maintain#Level#AM, A Separate AM for each level, containing an updateable VO per level.
    UI (View Controller Project)
    I created the following BTF’s (To try and keep the post short as possible I will only provide detail for a single level to explain the issues)
    *1. HiererchyBTF*
    a.     Contains a fragment.
    b.     Added RegionHierarchyBtf, CountryHierarchyBTF, LocationHierarchyBTF to the above fragment as dynamic regions.
    c.     Task flow transaction <No Controller Transaction>, isolated.
    *2. RegionHierarchyBTF. (The same BTF’s are created for each level in the hierarchy)*
    a.     Contains a fragment.
    b.     Exposed HierarchyAM<RegionRoVO>
    c.     Task flow transaction <No Controller Transaction>, shared.
    d.     Includes a call to the EditRegionBTF.
    *3. SearchRegionBTF (The same BTF’s are created for each level in the hierarchy)*
    a.     Contains a fragment.
    b.     Exposed SearchRegionAM<RegionRoVO>
    c.     Task flow transaction <No Controller Transaction>, isolated.
    d.     Includes a call to the EditRegionBTF.
    *4. EditRegionBTF*
    a.     Contains a fragment.
    b.     Exposed MaintainRegionAM<RegionVO>
    c.     Task flow transaction <Use Existing Transaction if Possible>, isolated.
    Runtime behaviour with above configuration.
    1.     Running the HiererchyBTF and navigation the levels works in all versions.
    2.     Calling an edit BTF allows me to edit the current record and successfully commit the data in all versions.
    3.     Calling an edit BTF for the same record immediately thereafter, allows me to edit the record and commit the data successfully in all versions.
    4.     Running any of search BTF’s and calling the edit BTF works in all versions.
    Runtime behaviour and changing the EditRegionBTF task flow transaction to Shared.
    1.     Running the HiererchyBTF and navigation the levels works in all versions.
    2.     Calling an edit BTF allows me to edit the current record in the table and successfully commit the data in all versions.
    3.     Calling an edit BTF for the same record immediately thereafter, allows me to edit the record and commit the data successfully in 11.1.1.4.0 & 11.1.1.6.0 only. If I perform the same scenario in 11.1.2.1.0 I receive the following exception.
    a.     JBO-25003: Object MaintainLocationAM of type ApplicationModule is not found.
    4.     Repeating the process, but after editing the first record, edit the second record in the table the error is not encountered. If, after successfully editing the second record and committing the data successfully, I again edit the first record I edited, I receive the same exception as in point 3.
    5.     Running any of search BTF’s and calling the edit BTF works in all versions.
    For the purpose of having a reusable edit task flow, I need to have the task flow transaction configuration as <Use Existing Transaction if Possible>, shared. This enables me to have the edit task flow as a parent as well as a child task flow and use the task flow functionality irrespective if it is controlling the transaction or not.
    My questions are;
    1. Is my design acceptable for the solution I am developing, I am more specifically questioning my separation of the AM’s to achieve loosely coupled task flows.
    2. Is there a bug (I have done a search on MOS) that details this behaviour.
    3. As, in my opinion, this is a common requirement, why is there inconsistency between the versions.
    The demo for each version can be made available.
    Regards.
    Leon.

    Hi Frank,
    +1. Its the first sting I stumbled on reading your post. Unless the read-only view object AMs are shared across users (application scope) I don't see why you want to have them in a separate AM. I don't see a benefit in a purely read-only view object that is not backed up by entities and thus would follow Oracle's recommendation to always use entities with view objects.+
    The read-only vo's are based on eo's. I separated the AM as the search use cases are independent of one another. So my understanding, from a performance perspective, is to not have all the read-only vo's of the entire hierarchy of products in a single AM if I am only going to access one of them. If I do not understand correctly, can you please assist me in better understanding.
    +2. For sure this behavior doesn't sound right and should be filed. You may want to check 11.2.3 in case it has been fixed in there already.+
    As posted by Chris, I have through MOS found that it has been fixed in a later version.
    Btw.: "Calling an edit BTF for the same record immediately thereafter, allows me to edit the record and commit the data successfully" how do you call this task flow dynamic region or task flow call activity ?
    The BTF's are called using a backing bean.
    Regards
    Leon.

  • Best approach -Tabs based ADF Tree left side navigation with Dynamic Regions with out UI Shell

    Hi,
    Somebody can help for the best approach to implement the following requirement.
    Req: When the user select the ADF Tree left side navigation menu, each menu will open as multiple tabs(Dynamic Tabs) in right side content area with out UI Shell Template.
    I completed the
    Step-1: From the Model project, I can able to render ADF Tree in the using view and view links. I can get the adf tree which is having 3 menu items. Each menu item having 2 sub menu's.
    I took each menu item as one(1) taskflow, each taskflow will have two(2) fragments.
    Total I have 3 task flows as Menu Items and 6 fragments for sub menu's.
    Step-2:  My question is How do I implement Tab based the ADF tree navigation (left side area to dynamic regions in content area) through dynamic regions? Please provide the steps in view layers.

    Than ks for your response.
    This is working fine for ADF Tree navigation with dynamic regions if the taskflow having only one fragment. if the taskflow having more than one fragments, this will not work. The following conditions are always satisfies one page fragment of either "employees" or "departments" task flow.  If the "employees" task flow have 2 page fragments, it's not work even you pass parameters through routers.
    public TaskFlowId getDynamicTaskFlowId() {
    if (currentTaskFlowID == null ||
    currentTaskFlowID.equalsIgnoreCase(“employees”)) {
    return TaskFlowId.parse(employeetaskFlowId);
    if (currentTaskFlowID != null &&
    currentTaskFlowID.equalsIgnoreCase(“departments”)) {
    return TaskFlowId.parse(departmetaskFlowId);
    return TaskFlowId.parse(employeetaskFlowId);
    My question is "Same use case with Dynamic Tabs" when the user click on any adf tree node.

  • How to use task flow's transaction options with session's user data

    Hi.
    I have custom extension of ApplicationModuleImpl class:
    package test.model
    imports...
    public class CustomAppModuleImpl extends ApplicationModuleImpl {
        public static final String SESSION_VAR = "MySessionVar";
        public CustomAppModuleImpl() {
            super();
        @Override
        protected void prepareSession(Session session) {
            super.prepareSession(session);
            System.out.println("######## " + this.getClass().getName() + ".prepareSession() called.  AM isRoot() = " + isRoot());
            Hashtable userData = session.getUserData();
            if (userData == null) {
                userData = new Hashtable();
            userData.put(SESSION_VAR, "Useless");
        @Override
        protected void create() {
            super.create();
            System.out.println("######## " + this.getClass().getName() + ".prepareSession() called.  AM isRoot() = " + isRoot());
    }Inside userData I store some useful session-based values (here is just an example ;) ).
    Within Model.jpr I defined that every Application Module I create must extends this CustomAppModuleImpl :
       <value n="oracle.jbo.extends.appModule" v="test.model.CustomAppModuleImpl"/>
    ...I have one AM with one view:
    package test.model;
    import oracle.jbo.server.ViewObjectImpl;
    // ---    File generated by Oracle ADF Business Components Design Time.
    // ---    Wed Mar 07 20:22:11 CET 2012
    // ---    Custom code may be added to this class.
    // ---    Warning: Do not modify method signatures of generated methods.
    public class AppModule1Impl extends CustomAppModuleImpl {
         * This is the default constructor (do not remove).
        public AppModule1Impl() {
         * Container's getter for EmployeesView1.
         * @return EmployeesView1
        public ViewObjectImpl getEmployeesView1() {
            return (ViewObjectImpl)findViewObject("EmployeesView1");
    }Now I have BTF (bounded task flow, with default properties) and I call that task flow on a button press. With default properties ( Transaction: <No Controller Transaction> ) I get preferred values from session's userData within Entity Object.
    Code snippet inside that entity implementation looks like:
            DBTransaction dbt = getDBTransaction();
            System.out.println(getClass().getName() + " entity lives AM: " + dbt.getRootApplicationModule().getClass().getName());
            if (dbt.getSession().getUserData() == null) {
                System.out.println(CustomAppModuleImpl.SESSION_VAR + " -> NULL");
            } else {
                System.out.println(CustomAppModuleImpl.SESSION_VAR + " -> " + dbt.getSession().getUserData().get(CustomAppModuleImpl.SESSION_VAR));
    ...And as I mentioned output is correct:
    test.model.EmployeesImpl entity lives AM: test.model.AppModule1Impl
    MySessionVar -> UselessNow the trickiest part. As soon as I change property of called task flow Transaction to something else that +<No Controller Transaction>+, e.g. Always Begin New Transaction, code snippet from task-flow.xml :
        <transaction>
          <new-transaction/>
        </transaction>
    ..This session stuff begin to act unpredictably. Session's userData is now null. And Output looks like:
    test.model.EmployeesImpl entity lives AM: oracle.jbo.server.ApplicationModuleImpl
    MySessionVar -> NULLWhy in the world ADF uses oracle.jbo.server.ApplicationModuleImpl instead of test.model.AppModule1Impl or at least my defined test.model.CustomAppModuleImpl ?!?
    Is this a bug? Or maybe a feature?

    ADF BC alwyas has a transaction opened even if the ADFc setting is No Transaction. So if you explicitly ask for a new transaction I assume that the ADF BC data control creates a new transaction without re-executing your AM initialization codes. Looks as if it uses an internal AM instance for this just to hold the transaction. However, worth filing this as a bug - assuming you reproduced this with a later version of either JDeveloper 11g R1 or R2

  • Human task flow call back events with external web service

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to call webservice inside human task flow. I have three participant in my human task flow. Let suppose A, B and C. When A approves then task will be assigned to B and when B approves it will go for C.
    My requirement is that, when A approves , then i need to call one external webservice to update database. For this i have enabled call back events from human task flow.
    In this way i got while loop inside my BPEL. In onTaskAssigned operation i am now trying to call external web service. My requriment is to call external service and get data from service. After getting response from the webservice, i want to assign it to next participant.
    But in this case, when user B approves, it goes to onTaskAssigned block and i am able to make external web service also but mean time, it has been assigned to User C which i do not want.
    I want Human task flow to wait for the web service response then only assign it to next participant.
    Please help.

    Have you tried using WebServices Adapter. The usecase seems pretty straight forward. You have a WebService that has some code and some Operations to update some Database. First thing, I hope you have methods/Operations defined with request and response xsd for each operation.
    Now you define the main master payload, that should have all elements specific to your process and also few elements to store the output coming from each operation. Because response of each operation may need to go to other Task and get saved in the Payload also.
    You have like 3 Tasks. To complicate, I will assume that each Task can either Approve or Reject. And last 2 Tasks gets data from payload, previous task and also output from the WebService Operation (method).
    Task A -> Xor Gateway (Approve/Reject) -> If Approve -> Call WebServices Adapter -> Task B -> Xor Gateway(...) -> ......
    At each intersection, you can map the attributes for incoming and outgoing. Based on WebServices output also, you can have Another XOR Gateway and decide to send to Task B or do something else. So combinations of outputs of each service (task or webservice adapter) and XOR gateways, you can have a decent control on the overall flow.
    Note: I am hoping the webservices is Synchronous where you get the response immediately.
    Let me know if I am missing something.
    Thanks

  • Using dynamic ViewLinks with JDeveloper 10g

    Hello.
    I'm displaing a list of data from tab1 with a sublist of data from tab2, which has a n:m cardinality relationship.
    Attributes:
    k1 - primary key of tab1
    k2 - primary key of tab2
    fk1 - foreign key of tab1 in rel
    fk2 - foreign key of tab2 in rel
    Before data iteration I create dynamic link using createViewLinkBetweenViewObjects(...) method of my ApplicationModule. I use assocClause parameter to define the way of the data association, e.g.:
    select <attrs> from tab2 where k2 in (select fk2 from rel where fk1=:1)Parameter :1 is replaced with k1 from tab1.
    This works fine, but whern I use parameter :1 more times in query, the JBO-27122 (SQL error during statement preparation. Statement: ...) is reported. I have used it with JDeveloper 9i and it worked properly.
    Thanks for any help

  • How tio navigate to parent task flow from Tab disclosure

    Hi all ,
    We have requirement is that ,
    page contains two tabs
    tab 1( Flow1 and Flow 2) user can navigate back and forth between flow 1 and flow 2.
    tab2
    from tab 1 user can navigate to flow 2 from flow 1 , if user navigates to flow 2 and modify some data and switch to tab 2 (click on tab 2) a warning message displayed to user stating that unsaved will be lost .
    click in "Yes" user will be switched to tab 2.
    from tab 2 if user click on tab1(switch back to tab1) , my requirement is that user should be navigated back to tab1 (flow1) not to flow 2.
    Please suggest how can i implement this functionality.
    thanks a lot for your help.

    are you using the uncommitedDataWarning="on" property to check for dirtyness? if so... can you do that programatically by calling
    ViewPortContext.isDataDirty();and based on this navigate back to the corresponding flows..
    if i am not understanding ur usecase properly. can u pls explain a bit more..
