Navigating on sea and nature with nokia n82

Well nokia maps is one of the best thing i ever have had on a cellphone since i bought my first alcatel in 1991 lol. that and nokia sports tracker which im gonna use ALOT this year.
i was wondering if there is a way to measure the distance where there is no roads.. like straight airline. when using it in wildlife it will be used together with a map that shows mountains and such but it would be sweet to measure the distance between two points. i tried this on nokia maps but it only measure the distance between the closest road points.

Sorry for kicking this relatively old topic, but this problem still persists. I saw this topic after I posted it **non-English link removed** (dutch) and I have the exact same problem. I am also a listener of dance department podcasts.

This problem still persists in firmware v30
I didn't know that the interupts disappear when starting one of the visualisations. That does work indeed. But battery will discharge quickly with this method.
I tried to use oggplayer, which uses the mp4 encoder of Nokia...but unfortunately, it shows the exact same problem.
Is there some new information available about this ?

was it originally locked. firmware is released according to your product code (found under the battery) this varys country to country and network to network.
mainly if your handset was a network branded handset, then they have not agreed for the new firmware to be released for your product code.

If you have recently had a software update failure with your Nokia N82 or Nokia 6220 Classic, please send us the following information:
1) Date/time of update.
2) Device IMEI or serial number (enter *#06# from the phone display, or copy the long number from the battery compartment label.)
3) Logs from C:\users\All Users\Nokia\Nokia Service Layer\A\Logs
4) adl_flash.log from your Temp folder (Goto Start > Run > Enter %temp% )
Send the files to [email protected]
The log files should not be more than a few hundred KB, and if there is any other information you wish to share with us, we welcome your feedback.

I wrote all my posts from 2005-2011 as an "Admin" for this community. I still work for Nokia as an external consultant, so my rank in all posts is now "Employee".

if nsu bricks phones then nokia should completly take NSU off there site n stop people from updating. its a product from nokia that should be up to standards. im just saying when vista released they had problems with NSU and took there time to prepare a fix and now a year later that same problem exists on n82 n 6220c.
also look at how many users have had there phone go through recovery mode or blinking screen. nokia are so advance with there phones n they cant be bothered to implement FOTA in all there new nseries, eseries devices were this reduces the phone bricking as FOTA are little updates.
Nokia need to stop the NSU and prepare a ultimate fix for it. They make to many new applications and they cant even fix the problems that exist with there PC suite, Nokia Music Manager etc.

Creaking with NOKIA N82 keypad buttons.

Hi I'm from INDIA.I bought the N82 BLACK in mid of may 2008..My right soft key has started creaking..even the call hang up (Red) Key....
Is this a manufacturing defect?? The creaking isnt very annoying, but I fear whether it will affect the overall life of the keypad..
has anyone else experienced such problems??

Please note that my phone functions properly..including the keypad..its just the creaking..thats all..

That's a common bug that used to come up in all N82 colour versions; as you said, if keys are working ok and that creak isn't very annoying then get used with it, it won't affect your keypad life in any way.
Although you can ask Nokia Care at http://www.nokia.co.in/A4536241 and see what they have to say regarding this matter (don't expect that they'll admit that is a manufacturing bug )

Nokia PC Suite can do a synchronization and a backup, but a update doesn't work

Same happend to me after installing an previously on XP working version of PC Suite on win 7 / 64 bit. Following unsuccessfull trials with Bluetooth, I tried to de-select the serial-driver. And for the moment it works. The following instruction is for the german version, below the "free hand" translation to english: Nokia PC Suite: Einstellungen - > Verbindungen verwalten -> Serielles Kabel (CA42) -> Häkchen weg. (Tools - Connections - Serial Cable (CA42) deselect. Hope it works for you too! Good Luck!

Nokia 306 and problems with Nokia Store

I used to download apps from Nokia Store via SMS, but as you know that has now been cancelled, so I have tried to connect via my cable link through my PC, but although Nokia Suite recognises the phone, the Store acts as though it's not there and the buttons to "Download Via PC" and "Download Via Phone" are just grey and inoperable, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong, am I just having a thick moment or is there something I need contact Nokia about

Which browser are you using? The Nokia Suite needs to install a plugin to your browser to push the app to the Nokia Suite. Try using firefox.

HT6065 Was the finder navigation for back and forwards with 3 finger swipe fixed with this update???

This has been killing me, 2 months later and im still swiping like it works!!!!

check in system preferences first to make sure that feature is on (i assume multi touch can be turned on and off i have not gotten to try it yet and am not going be getting a new machine for a while). if it is on you may have to go through and start messing with plists in you library but i have no ideas which ones and its not something you want to randomly go in a screw around with

Synchronize N8 and Outlook 2010 with Nokia OVI Sui...

PC Toshiba with Windows 7 (x64)
Nokia OVI Suite 3.0.0.290
N8-00
MS Outlook 2010
Language is French for all
No problem to synchronize Contacts, Photos, Messages, Notes, Bookmarks and RSS Flux.
Problems:
1. OVI can't synchronize Calendar and tasks. THIS IS CRITICAL IN MY JOB.
   Nokia PC Suite 7.1.60.0 doesn't support N8.
   How to synchronize Calendar and Tasks with Nokia OVI Suite?
2. There is no way to see nor manage Calendar and Tasks with Nokia OVI Suite.
   Those options were handled with PC Suite.
3. OVI is slow and not really stable!!!!

This is the third times I experience the same problems with OVI. The other times, I went back to PC Suite.
I thought that OVI was mare adapted to with my new N8. It seems that it is not the case again.

Could you please try this?
1. Please, check on Task Manager (press ctrl+shift+esc) if you see NokiaOviSuite.exe process twice on the process list? If yes, kill all the instances of NokiaOviSuite.exe, nokiaaserver.exe and NokiaMServer.exe. If not, a reboot should fix the issue.

2.Choose from Sync menu “Repair sync”. This operation may create duplicate entries in case the sync engine is not able match the records from different end points with each other. Also, all the deleted items which have not been removed from the other end points will be restored to the end point where the item was deleted.

3. Update phone software (Please take backup before going for software updates.
or
4. Atlast uninstall NOS

Nokia N82 and Microsoft certificate install

I got my N82 after using Windows Mobile for over 6 years I decided to get a phone that does email not the otherway round. I install MfE or Mail for Exchange and started sync'ng and was told to install a certificate. After spending the best part of a week trying to get the certificate installed I am stuck. The best resource I have found online so far is http://www.redelijkheid.com/symcaimport/ which allows you to upload a .cer file and then download it to your file. All the other sites talk about modify web sites and playing with the MIME, etc. That just disable the Exchange Sync default website since you need to overwrite the SSL port. Cannot use OpenSSL is I run Windows XP not linux. I see a N95 user had the same problem. If you copy the cer file, even if it is renamed it does not open on the phone if you export a .p12 it wants you to enter a "new key store password". I know with my last phone an imate I had to get a certificate install package, is there any such thing.
Anyone out there got any ideas or pointers

Might not help a great deal but you can use OpenSSL on Windows, but you'll need to compile it. How you do that, I haven't got a clue as I normally use Linux for that kind of thing my self.

Sms problem bug with nokia 6710 navigator

hi, i'm jack, surfer from italy.
the new kind of t9 with nokia navigator 6710 is really really bad, i'm searching to get the older one on this phone.
the problem is that when you press * to change the word, the phone become slower, and open a new window where you can see the words and choose. this thing is really uncomfortable and make you really slower and harder to complete the sms.
the big problem is that you can't enable or disable this option, you must use it! this is a very bad thing from nokia, cause people must choose their way to write sms.
i can disable and enable t9, so why can't i enable and disable this option? this is a bug from nokia in this phone!
please help me to find a patch, a software or something else to solve this problem, or if doesn't exist i need someone that advice nokia to put something to download on the site, to solve this problem.

1st of all dont store alot of text on phone this slows it down
2nd try a soft reset this restores phone to out of box state the code is *#7370# security code is 12345 back up contacts and apps etc

Apart from need to backup essential data first, I would have suggested reset to "factory settings" by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lockcode unless altered by yourself) and then install latest OVI Maps version from here: http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download#/nokia-n82/
As these older S60 3rd FP1 devices are shorter on phone memory it is usually best to install just after carrying out reset. You did say in first post that applications like Nokia Maps caused issues so perhaps it needs a clear out. Also assuming here that you have v35.0.002 firmware installed.

I recently updated my primary email address associated with my Apple ID account.
Now when I go to App store on my iPad it still tries to login to the App store using the old email address I had associated with the account, and naturally my password doesn't work. I can't figure out how to tell my iPad to login using the updated email address.
So in effect I'm locked out of the app store and I currently have 26 updates waiting.
I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting my IPad to iCloud with no luck.. However I cloud happens to show the correct/updated email address.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Did you change the email for the Apple ID or did you create a new Apple ID? A new Apple ID cannot be used with content that was bought using a different Apple ID.

Problem with Absolute Navigation (External Window) and Light Framework Page

Hi All,
We are using Light Framework page for the portal devolopment. We have an application including two webdynpro iviews where absolute navigation is used to traverse from first iview to second iview (When user clicks a button on first iview). We are showing the second iview in external window (SHOW_EXTERNAL). When ever i clicks the button to traverse to second iview, i am getting an exception.
When we are showing it in same window (SHOW_INPLACE), it is working fine. But the iview is appeared in half of the page with scrollbars. It is working fine with default framework page (with both options SHOW_INPLACE and SHOW_EXTERNAL) and dispalyed in original size as mentioned in iview properties.
Could you please suggest us whether there is any work around for this.

I couldn't see the address bar of the window (In which second iview is getting displayed). But i can observe no parameters that i passed from first iview is visible in the view source of the second iview (When SHOW_EXTERNAL is used in absolute navigation). I could see all the parameters in the view source (when SHOW_INPLACE is used for absolute navigation). But i am using the same url for both the options (for SHOW_INPLACE and SHOW_EXTERNAL).
I doubt about the url being passed when SHOW_EXTERNAL option is used. But when we checked in debug, The correct url is being triggered (Atleast from first iview). Is there any way that could display the second window with address bar. What is making difference between SHOW_INPLACE and SHOW_EXTERNAL with absolute navigation and light framework page.
Could someone please suggest.

Nokia N93 and copying music from a Mac with Nokia ...

I recently just got a Nokia N93. I am able to use iSync with it thanks to a plug-in.
I have had some success using syncTunes v1.6 to copy music files over to the memory card when the phone is connected with the USB cable. But the playlists do not work.
I did download and install the Nokia Music Manager for the N70 (I believe).
Will the Music Manager work with an N93? I am actually seeing the music on the phone but the app says iTunes is not available.
I am using Mac Os 10.4.8, iTunes 7.01. I have installed v1.02 of the Nokia Music Manager.
Will there be a release for the N93 or should the current version work?

I have been happily using Sync Tunes the last few months.
Recently, I started playing around with making smart playlists in iTunes. What I wanted to do was create a random play list of tracks to copy on a daily basis to my phone.
I ran into all kind of fun with audio file formats. It turns out the many of my audio files are encoded as M4A and MP4. These will not play on the Nokia N93.
Fortunately, I found a web-site (http://smartplaylists.com/) explaining how to filter out these kind of audio tracks in the smart play list. The built in help in iTunes is very poor in this regard.
