Navigating thro the Charts in the Dashboard

We have generated a Dashboard as a Web Template using 4 Queries and the charts are displayed in the Browser.
Now, the Customer wants to drill down by selecting the specific area on the Chart; it has to show the related information under that selection.
Is this possible or we have to use the Drop Down option, etc. ?

i am curently developing a solution which will maybe solve that problem. i developed a new Flash Chart Item, which can be bound to a BW Dataprovider. These Flash charts are animated like Visual Composer Charts, but you do not need JAVA or Portal Stuff. This will work starting from Bi 3.x. In that charts i will integrate a Drill Down functionality. I think about two ways of realizing that:
1. I will call a Javascript method in the Template with the coordinates of the Graph (Infoobject and External value will be overhanded) in that function the customer can implement a normal Javascript function call to manipulate navigation state.
2. I will manipulate the navigation state by our engine, in that case the someone needs to customize the Drill-Down Path (from Calendar year to Calendarmonth and then to Sales org etc.)
I am still seeking for requirements, if you have one send them to me.

with SAP standard you can't realize a drill-down only with charts.

Myself as well...
I think it is a tremendous problem. Im my case it is extremelly important to manage, organize and sort favorites.
I am new to Mac and safari... and I spent a lot of time researching a solution for that thinking it was me that couldnt find this option. I like to use safari because of the "gestures". This is great. But when it comes to favorites, safari is a nightmare!!!
Also, I use to like the option in Firefox that we can have the leftside bar with the favorites and navigate to the links in the right. In safari the links are open in the full page. And then we need to come back to the favorite everytime.
I would be glad if someone could come out with good solution or suggestions how to deal with it in fafari.

OBIEE Writeback : Clock appears when navigating the dashboard

Hello Guys,
Wrong time to post the question just before long weekend.
I have a writeback report that views fine when I navigate it through Answers. It has 500 rows.
When I view the same report on the dashboard , after navigating to the fourth or fifth page process gets hung and all I see is the clock that is ticking.
The clock will keep on ticking indefintely.
When I click on cancel the page refreshes and I able to see the desired report results.
This is a replicable issue at my end.
I have gone through the presentation and OBI Server logs but I dont see an error or exact error description.
Has anyone faced this problem.
What is the best way to solve the problem.
Any help is much appreciated.

How to avoid the message in the dashboard report

Hi,
I am developing Dashboard reports(graphs) using WAD. Query and WAD are working fine. I need to put a variable for Calendar Month or Year in the graph .I am populating the Variable with default value initially and I am getting the correct result . But if I change the Variable value second time, I am getting a message (type I(information) ) in the same screen which says that 'You cannot change variable ZCALYEAR_WT01 for charact. 0CALYEAR during query navigation' . And below is the detailed information about the error message.
The Can be changed in query navigation property has been set for variable ZCALYEAR_WT01, characteristic 0CALYEAR. However, the variable is used in the query in such a way, that the system is unable to apply this change-option.
This can, for example, occur under the following conditions:
Characteristic 0CALYEAR is filtered by additional restrictions (the restrictions must be joined using an OR-connection)
A second characteristic, which is restricted by a variable, is compounded to charcteristic 0CALYEAR.
Variable ZCALYEAR_WT01 is a hierarchy node variable, but the hierarchy has not been determined uniquely.
A variable can be changed during query navigation only if it is used exclusively in a drilldown-characteristic, and there are no further restrictions to the characteristic other than this variable. There must be no additional characteristics with variables compounded to the characteristic you are working with. For variables for hierarchy nodes, the hierarchy must be determined uniquely and agree with the set display hierarchy.
Also, if the characteristic value is moved, for example (ZCALYEAR_WT01 - 1), the variable is no longer able to be changed when navigating queries.
System Response
The entry ZCALYEAR_WT01 Can be changed during query navigation is not applied.
Procedure
I checked the query definition and it is not having any offset or any other restrictions for Calendar Year
It is used for finding the total quantity by country for the year .Hence Quantity keyfigure is added in the Keyfigures and Country is in the Rows and Calendar Year is restricted with Variable in the global filter .There are no other fields and no other restrictions .
I am still trying to figure out why the warning apprears in the DashBoard. Since this Dashboard report will be used by the Power users and this warning message will be annoying to them .Hence I need to find how to avoid this message.
Kindly do let me if anyone has faced this and solved earlier.

Go URL to a specific page in the dashboard

I am trying to use the GO Url to navigate from one page to another page in the dashboard based on the conditions. However I am not able to use GO URL to navigate to a specific page in the dashboard. Any idea how i can use GO URL to navigate to a specific page in the dashboard.

Use Navigation instead of drill down. In the Column Format tab of Column Properties in Answers, click on the Value Interaction drop down and select Navigate. Choose the destination report. (It doesn't matter what Subject Area the destination report was based on.)
In the appropriate column of the destination report, add a filter set to "is prompted." Now when the user clicks on the value, he/she will be taken to the destination report filtered on the value clicked on by the user.

Clicking on a link sends the screen to the dashboard

WehnI open a page and click on another link on that page, it goes to the 'Dashboard'. I return to my page and click again and it goes where I requested. Later, on other pages, it will go to the dashboard again. This happens a lot. I am on an iMac with 10.9.5. I hope 'Yosemite' solves this problem.

Are you having that problem from Search websites? Or, the Search bar in the Navigation toolbar in Firefox?

Why the dashboard page is automatically getting "Hidden" ???

Hi,
I have created a new dashboard page. I want to navigate from one report to that newly created dashboard page.
However when I try to set navigation and browse to the dashboard page, I am not able to see that page in the list.
I checked in 'Manage Presentation Catalog' > in _portal folder, that page is coming as 'Hidden' page, however I did not set it as 'Hide' or anything in dashboard properties.
I want to remove that 'hidden' attribute and I want to navigate to that page.
Please let me know if anybody is having any idea about this issue.

Thanks a lot for your replies. My issue has been resolved.
Issue was, we are hiding the dashboard as we dont want to show it, user clicks on image and goes to that dashboard.
Now, if I add new page in a dashboard which has already been hidden, newly created pages will be automatically get hided and it will not be visible in 'saved content' as well as it does not show up if we want to browse that page for a navigation.
So I made the dashboard visible first (Unchecked the Hide box), created the page and again hided that dashboard, now it comes in the list.
There was not any issue in privileges etc and even in dashboard properties that 'Hide' option was also unchecked, only issue was page has been created on hidden dashboard.

How to eliminate the space between two analysis in the Dashboard?

Hi All,
I have created a Dashboard which contains 12 analyses arranged vertically. When i see the report in the dashboard section it contains some standard space between each analysis. So it looks like separate separate analysis arranged in dashboard. But i want it to look a single table is it possible by reducing the space between every analysis? If possible please let me know how to achieve this in clear manner.

Not to run report while landing in the Dashboard

Hi All,
This might be same question i am asking but not able to achive any perfect solution to this.
I dnt want to run the report when the user logs into the Dashboard and show the proper message saying select the prompts and then run the report.

Actually if you look at the Log, you'll see that a query will be sent to the database by default. The only way I am aware off to achieve this w/o the use of guided navigation is to use the section property (collapse/uncollapse), when a section is collapsed, no report is run upon landing on the dashboard: set the section default property to collapse.

Unable to access the Dashboard in 11g

I was successful in installing obiee 11g on windows 7 home edition,I am new to 11g OBIEE . I was able to login into the dashboard and do everything as usual.After the restart of the machine I am getting the following error

All the services start up right ,atleast the WLS and databases ,can you please let me of other services if I am missing any...
Nothing has changed since the installation ,it was all working yesterday morning after the installation but today after the restart it does not show the page ..Do you think my loopback installation has to do anything with this,please advice.

I have noticed OBIEE 11g does not run stable on windows 7 ,
Try XP or Windows 2003 Server... Its a good place to start as your new to OBIEE, You will encounter non everyday errors just because of win 7.
Check your FMW (Fusion Middleware is up) Also Check if your weblogic server is up , You should have the URLS for these 2 servers when you were installing OBIEE.
If your FMW is up see if the pie status's are all green . or can you see some red. this means some services are indeed down.. Then check the server logs for more details.
These can be found in the MIDDLEWAREHOME Directory, Somewhere here c:\Middleware\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\
These will be logs for Your FMW, Weblogic Server...

Adding a Left Navigation in the place of Current navigation in SharePoint 2013 Site.

Hi All,
I have successfully converted an HTML Page to a SharePoint 2013 Master Page. I also created a Custom Page Layout. Using both them I have created my SharePoint Site with 30+ pages. Each page is consisted with the Top Header Navigation as it is inheriting
from the Master Page I have used. Now I need the left navigation inherit from the master page also. It gives me the advantage of updating it from the master page and affects it through the entire SharePoint Site.
But at the moment I am inserting the Left Nav using a web part as an HTMl code snippet individually for each and every page. If needs a modification I have to go through all the pages and do the modification. This is not convenient also. I want to this left
nav like the SharePoint Current Navigation alternative but within my Page Layout.
Is there an option to chat within these forums?
Could someone help me to solve this problem?

Parent (Global) and Current (Navigation) on the Same Page

I am using the managed metadata feature in a SharePoint 2013 publishing site. I am trying to layout my navigation as shown in the diagram below. I can not find a publishing master page that implements this parent child relationship. My
top navigation is use the markup:

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to create Parent (Global) and Current (Navigation) on the Same Page.
You can make quicklaunch work contextually like structural nav quicklaunch using Managed Metadata navigation. Please refer to:

In addition, you can used JQuery and CSS to achieve staticlevel left navigation in SharePoint 2013.

How to get the value of multi-select in the Dashboard Prompt

I have a multi-select prompt in the Dashboard Prompt, what I want is, how do I know that user has choose one value,
for examle, for some reasons, if user didn't choose any value, then I will set one column in answer as "customer office" , if user choose one value, then the column in answer will be "customer name".

first define the presentation variable for the required column prompt. ex: PV
Then in report level set the filter for that column = @{PV}{customer office}. here u have to give default value as "customer office", so by default the report in dashboard will show customer office even though the user does not select any value from dashboard prompt.
