Navigation Bar Doesn't Collapse...

Stupid question but is it just a function of using the Instant Portal but the navigation bar doesn't collapse. We will end scrolling down to navigate to a sub-page if. I'm hoping I'm just missing where to set this up...any help would be...helpful!

  • Navigation bar doesn't work

I'm working on my website, and the navigation bar doesn't work. When I test it in iWeb, (checking the box that says "make hyperlinks active") it works fine, but when I publish it, they're dead. I can click as much as I want and they don't work.
I replaced the default title with a title that has a hyperlink to send you back to the main page. I'm wondering if this might affect it.
    any tips?
the website (for now) is web.mac.com/chriscowan. As of this post, the only active links from the main page are "Music," "Podcasts," and "Words."
And yes, I have upgraded to 2.0.1

i too have been searching for an answer to this problem. found something in another post that totally fixed it. don't know if it will help you but worth a try.
check to see if a grahic box is covering your nav bar. Turn on 'Show Layout' to see the graphic boxes.
    good luck!

  • Somehow hyperlinked whole page, now navigation bar doesn't work

I was trying to add a hyperlink to the bottom of my page, and somehow made the whole page the hyper link. Now my navigation bar doesn't work. When I scroll with my mouse to show me if there is something hiding the navigation bar, the whole page including the navigation bar seems to be one image. How do I fix this? I tried starting a new page, but have trouble formatting the columns properly again. HElp??? if you want to see what I'm talking about, its the Resume page that has the inactive nav bar, and the Resumee page that I can't format right... http://web.me.com/lauren.kelly

Just checked the Resume page and the entire page, except for the navbar is a link to download your resume as a Word document. The file didn't have an extension but I added the .doc extension and it opened in Pages as a Word document.
If you don't want the document to be downloaded check the page in iWeb to see if you see the hyperlink icon somewhere on the page. Select the object it's attached to and use the Inspector/Link/Hyperlink pane to remove it as a link.
The links in the navbar are working as they should. It's just the body of the page that has an "unwanted" (?) link.

  • Whenever I open a new tab or window the back arrow on the navigation bar doesn't work

When I open a new tab or window the back arrow in the navigation bar isn't highlighted and doesn't work

Do you have already visited more than one website in a tab if that happens?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Just published site - navigation bar doesn't work

    Hi Everyone -
I'm brand new here and apologize if I'm about to ask something that's been asked and answered a hundred times. I looked through the questions and found instances where navigation bars are missing once the site has been published, but my issue is different (though the solution may be the same - I don't know).
I just published my iWeb site (www.thewordwise.com) and found a couple issues (my site doesn't fill the screen, but I'll wank about that later). My navigation bar appears properly at the top, but does not work at all. Only the Welcome page is accessible.
In looking through the various missing navigation bar questions posed here, I would hazard a guess that not all of my pages have been properly uploaded to the hosting site I'm using (godaddy) and that the solution may be to use a third party FTP folder? This is unfortunately Greek to me.
Any assistance would be enormously appreciated. Thank you.

I think you'll find that your navigation menu is not working as your image is overlapping with it - The Word Wise image. An image only has to be overlapping a little and it will then not work. Move the image down so that it is clear of the nav menu and it should then work.
As for your site name - the second is your site name in iWeb - you named your site that and you can change it so that it is not as long - do this in iWeb and then republish your site.

  • Published navigation bar doesn't work- any suggestions greatly appreciated

As a recent purchaser of the software, I moved my whole blog to the site, impressed with its functionality and ease of use. To my dismay, the navigation bar when you visit the site on virtually every computer (especially PC’s) doesn’t seem to work. The first few pages are active but the last ones do not seem to have hyperlink activity- they do on some of the other pages but not from the landing site. Do you have any thoughts around how to rectify this? They are live in iWeb, but once I publish, they don’t work.
    My site is:
    http://web.mac.com/adamdiamond/iWeb/StinkyGrapefruit/Feed%20Me.html
If you have any thoughts, I’d greatly appreciate them!
    Cheers,
    Adam

    OK, first off, this image:
    http://web.mac.com/adamdiamond/iWeb/StinkyGrapefruit/Feed%20Me_files/whisky.png
is somehow in the way of your nav bar. Select it in iWeb, "Send to back," and republish. Remember to clear your cache in your browser before you visit the page again.
2nd, PCs w/Internet Explorer aren't iWeb friendly, sometimes. Encourage your visitors to visit http://www.getfirefox.com

  • Navigation bar doesn't work after publishing to .Mac

I composed my website in iWeb '08 on a PowerBook G4 but when I publish it to iMac or to another server, I only get the home page visible with the navigation bar text. However, I am unable to use the navigation bar to go to any of the other pages created. This happens when I publish to a folder as well.
    Help?!

Hi dr.dara and welcome to the iweb discussion forum,
we often see this problem on the forum and the only answer we can give is that you might have something in front of the nav bar. Something like a textbox or a shape.
Sometimes emptying the Cache of the browser helps resolving this kind of problems.
What happens if you click on the nav bar in iWeb itself?
If you can't find anything could you provide us your link?
    Regards,
    Cédric

  • I am making a website for my high school and it's online, but for some reason my navigation bar doesn't show up on firefox browser. Any suggestions?

I made a new website for my high school. I used the same code for the navigation bar in the old site for the new site and for some reason my new site's nav bar won't show up in firefox browser or for that matter any browser other than Internet. Any ideas of why?

Looks fine here. You may need to bypass the cache if you uploaded new code.
Reload a web page and bypass the cache with:
    * Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    * Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    * Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

  • Iweb 08 installed but now navigation bar and other properties aren't showin

iweb 06 was working beautifully. Then loaded iweb 08 and published. Now the navigation bar doesn't show in most browsers and other letter shadowing and picture shadowing aren't showing up as well. I've checked to be sure the navigation isn't turn off. I've published all and I've published singularly. Still no luck.
Help please. Folks can't get to my site and navigate and see how nice it is...
    J.

    More details from another example:
To illustrate what I see at the PC at work I made some sreenshots from my site:
    http://www.hasselo.eu/photography/Links_files/HasseloEuHome.jpg
    http://www.hasselo.eu/photography/Links_files/HasseloEuGalleries.jpg
Since I made the screenshots, the site was updated with new content, but the problems are still the same.
    As you can see:
    -Navigation bar missing
    -Reflections missing
I have no problems with other websites, therefore I assume that this is iWeb related and Apple should produce a fix for this.

  • IWeb 08, Publish Videos, Navigation Bar link stops working.  Why?

In iWeb, I am building a site with that includes two movie pages, each has a video (QT H.264, 640x280, medium quality). One movie per page. When I publish to a folder, I test both with Safari and Firefox. Each displays the same problem. When I click on the navigation bar link and go to the first video, the navigation bar ceases to work after I'm on the movie page. I can play the video, but I have to browser back because the navigation bar doesn't highlight, rollover, or anything. Both browsers exhibit this. Thanks.

Make sure you don't have any other objects overlapping the navbar.

  • Navigation doesn't collapse...

I'm trying to add content to a page that's already been
created by someone else, and this is my first project with
Dreamweaver/html. It has a basic navigation bar on the left that
expands when you click certain links to display subnavigation
    links.
I copied and existing link that had the subnavigation, gave
it an original id, but now it stays open and will not collapse
automatically like the others do when the page is done loading. The
new link(s) affected the navigation link i copied as well...any
    help would be appreciated.
Would the CSS have anything to do with this?

    > can you tell from the code any clues to what menu
    "system" it is?
    > link to the uploaded page?
nevermind, there was a link in the post.
    <!--
menuNames = new Array('facilplan', 'facilmaint', 'grounds',
    'custodial',
    'servicesguide', 'work_order_request', 'faq', 'contactus',
    'links', 'worc');
    function toggle(id){
    if (document.all) {
i couldn't tell where that came from, all the function names
    are generic, it
looks like a home rolled thing.
a pure guess is that there will be a similar list in the head
    of the doc you
are working on. further guess would be you need to add the ID
    of the new
    item to this array.

  • I have no navigation bar and firefox will not open in safe mode to reset to default config. Reinstalling doesn't work. Any help please.

I have no navigation bar ever since I closed it to gain more space on the screen. It won't re-open. Firefox will not open in safe mode, but opens immediately in normal mode with the new improper config, so I cannot reset to default config. I erased Firefox and re-installed and it still opens with the same faulty config. Why does Firefox not give me the safe mode dialog box, why can I not re-open the nav bar, and how can I do these two things, please? Firefox is currently unusable for me without a nav bar and without access to the default settings in safe mode. I cannot research the extensions I'm running since I have no nav bar to go to Tools, Add-ons, Extensions.

Hit the '''Alt''' key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar and Navigation bar, so they have a check-mark.

  • After upgrading to 4.0 my navigation bar no longer appears, it is checked as show in the menu but it doesn't. I downgraded and it still is missing.

I no longer have a navigation bar.
It IS checked to show up, it isn't there with it checked or unchecked.

Try they option to reset toolbars and controls as shown in this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Back+and+forward+or+other+toolbar+items+are+missing
