Navigation Component - Page ordering

Hi,
I have the list of pages under /mysite/en/pressroom/.  I am using navigation API to build the dynamic menu, which works like a charm. However, I cannot order it by alphabetical. Is there a API or a way to order those pages so they come in alphabetical order in the menu?

there is no built in api to sort (children list directly) better to use java collection API like TreeMap or similar to do that.

So in InDesign, there are two layout spreads. The first one includes actual pages 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9. The second one includes 10,11,12,13,14,15,16, and 1.
    After updating this I want to create both a spread version of the pdf for a printer, plus a regular page ordered pdf for web viewing. I am not clear on how to do this.
    I am using CS5.

    There are two "pages". Not sure how they are referred to in InDesign, but when you look at the InDesign doc, you see two separate "pages", each one divided into 8 sections. There is also a third "page" which includes all the specs for the printer (it is in the spread version of the pdf, but is not printed and not included in the web version of the pdf).

    No, you're not missing anything. It's just one of the many, many features that have been eliminated or changed. Leave feedback for the Pages team using the link in the Pages menu.
    If you previously had iWork '09, those apps are still in your Applications folder in a folder named iWork '09. You can continue to use them to get things done.
    If you want to do this in Pages 5 you'll have to select all of the content you want to move, cut & then paste into the new locations.

    After reading some of the posts about the lack of ability to change page order in Pages 5.1, I decided to re-install Pages 09 from the DVD that came with my computer because some posts said it was a better program. After inserting the disc and responding to all the prompts it seemed to download everything but I can't find Pages 09, I only seem to have 5.1.
    I will take a solution to either problem, but all I really want to do is change the order of 2 pages on a 9 page document created using 5.1.

    It is in your Applications/iWork folder.

  • Universal printing PCL5 & HP Laserjet 700 Color - wrong page order

    Hi,
    I recently installed an HP Laserjet Color 700 MFP in our network (around 20 PC workstations running Windows 7 professional & HP UPD PCL5)
    From one of the stations, each print job sent has a reversed page order - only setting the printer properties to "reverse" results in the correct page order.
    Ist this some known problem?

  • Navigation for Page Thumbnails no longer on sidebar, now a pop-up?

    I've noticed in the last day or two that my Pages feature on the left hand navigation bar is no longer there.  When I go to View>Navigation Panels>Pages it will come up but in a pop-up window.  Why is this? 
    I rely on this feature to move pages back and forth between documents on two different monitors and the pop-ups for each document won't both appear at once.  For example, when I click a thumbnail in a document on my left monitor the pop up that was in a document on my right monitor will disappear...therefore I have no where to drag the page to. 
    Is there any way that I can get the Pages navigation tool bar to show back up on the left hand side toolbar (with bookmarks, attachments, signatures, etc.)? 
    Btw, I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional, Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3.  I also have an Evermap Plug-in for bookmarks on my Adobe but I've had that for over 6 months and haven't had this issue until the last 2 days or so.

    Sometimes when an answer is that easy it can make you feel extremely dumb!  That worked just as you both said.  I'm not sure if I feel worse that it was that easy or that I spent two hours searching online and in the forums for the answer??

  • Page order in PDF Presentations

    I am using Photoshop to clean up and edit multi-page PDF files.  By the time I import the PDF, and go to export it again by creating a PDF presentation, the page order is backwards.  This can be very time consuming to fix by dragging the pages on the bottom to the top over and over (I do this after clicking "Automate" then "PDF Presentation".  Is there any way around this?

  • Change page order inside a section

    I am putting together a membership directory, with one page devoted to each member. I thought I could easily change the page order (to make them alphabetical) after I completed each page by shifting the thumbnails. Wrong. Looks like you can only shift sections but not the pages inside of a section. Fortunately, I only have 7 to change around instead of the 70 I will eventually have. Any ideas?

    Hadn't thought of that. Did think to just cut and paste each page into the correct order. Perhaps the "section breaks" strategy would be easier...... I will have to delete them afterwards because I am also creating an automatic table of contents.

But my problem is that i can create the front side of the folder easier than before, the backside is my problem I need to inverse the page order manual, this creates a lot of mistakes and errors along the way.     I have a structured web site that is in fact Program Help The web pages are structured as follows:
    index.html - Main Topic Index page with links to all topic subject index pages
    topic/index.html - Topic Subject Index Page with links to all subject pages
    topic/subject.html - Subject page
    .....etc
    Using Acrobat 5 "Create PDF from Web Page" created a perfect logical PDF  page structure in the page order of of the web site. In Acrobat 5 page 1  was the Main Topic Index Page, page 2 was the 1st Topic Subject Index  Page, page 3 was the 1st Subject Page, then the 2nd subject of the 1st  Topic, etc. until the Topic Subjects were exhausted after which the 2nd  Topic Subject Index Page and so it went on. As a result the bookmark  structure was sensible. The page order was as follows:
    Main Topic Contents
    Topic 1 Contents
    Subject 1 of Topic 1
    Subject 2 of Topic 1
    Topic N Contents
    Subject 1 of Topic N
    Subject 2 of Topic N
    Acrobat X (just purchased) produces a differently structured PDF from the same HTML pages. The order is:
    Main Topic Contents
    Topic 1 Contents
    Topic 2 Contents
    Topic N Contents
    Main Topic Contents (a second time)
    Subject 1 of Topic 1
    Subject 2 of Topic 1
    Subject N of Topic 1

    Question: Is there any way I can get back with Acrobat X the same page order I got with Acrobat 5?

    Acrobat is using the underlying mark up of the rendered HTML page.
    This may or may not provide an adequate input to Acrobat when it is noodling out how and what to tag.
    I suspect you may find that, to obtain an adequately tagged PDF, you may have to capture the web page content with the create bookmarks and create tags options off.
    Once you have the PDF make working copies.
    Try letting Acrobat tag this already created PDF to see what happens.
    You may have to manually tag the PDF.
    n.b., The default read order for western language can be altered by user selections in the accesibility setup or by selection in the PDF page(s) Page Properties.

  • Saving as a PDF in print page order [not actual page order]?!?!

    I've got a 20 page newsletter, each page A4, all created in InDesign CS3 [nice and simple]. I want to print the document in print page order [as appose to actual page order] on our printer here at work, because it's clever and can fold and staple to create a book/newsletter etc! In InDesign, I can obviously use the 'print booklet' option to do just this, and it works great; all my pages are printed in the correct order, I can also choose to print 2-sided, all lovely. But I was wondering if there is an option somewhere to be able to save my InDesign doc as a PDF in print page order [front with back, page 2 with 19 etc] - as printing a PDF of my artwork seems to solve a problem i was having in the thread I posted up yesterday.

    This is called "imposition". Does your OS and InDesign version come with the "Print as Booklet" option?
    If not, you can enter this range into the page number "Range" box on exporting:
    20,1,2,19,18,3,4,17,16,5,6,15,14,7,8,13,12,9-11
    (Typed from memory; -- please check)
    If I then print this PDF to my HP with the options "double sided" and "2 pages per sheet", it comes out exactly the way it should.
    (Waiting for the printer ... hold on.)
