Navigation menu on main page working yet?

I still do not have the main nav menu on the homepage working.  Right now I have it marked as not displaying and have copied and pasted it onto each page which is a pain.  This is really a basic function of any website and no matter how many other bells and wistles you have the basic site navigation needs to be a priority when providing a website building software.
I really love muse and have a pretty good working website for a very satisfied customer, however I accidentally discovered the missing navigation menu when trying to train an employee of the company to use their site.  It was pretty embarrasing and did not impress them.  It shows up fine in safari which is why I never noticed it, but when they use Explorer it is not there, and this is only on the main home page ther rest of the pages display it fine.  If you click  on where it is supposed to be on the home page the navigation works.  It is just not displayed, which is kind of stupid looking.
Please let me know when this very important feature gets really fixed!!!

Yes.  Dreamweaver Templates (DWT files) allow you to define repeatable areas on your site pages such as common #headers, #footers, #menus as well as editable regions for unique page content.
Server-Side Includes (SSIs) are also a good way of inserting commonly used code snippets using a single file.  Once uploaded, the include file parses to all parent pages which contain a reference to it.

  • How do I apply the same navigation menu to all pages?

    Hi!
I'd like to apply a standard navigation menu to all the pages
    in my site.
Can it be done, or do I need to write the menu for all
    individual pages?
    Thanks for any advice!

What are you trying to do?. If you simply want to recreate
    the same
navigational structure across the site then the answer is
    yes. You can
create a nav structure and place it in each page on your
    site. On each
page, though, make sure the paths assigned for each link are
    correct.
If you are looking for a solution in which you create the
    menu one time and
have all the pages on your site point to that one nav
    structure then you
should look into server side includes. You can read up on it
    here:
    http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/howto/ssi.html.
    With SSI, you create the
menu one time and point each page in your site to that one
    particular file.
Any changes you need to make are only made once and are then
    reflected
    through the entire site.
You should also consider looking into a menu system that
    automates much of
the work for you. Project VII has some excellent tools for
    this:
    http://www.projectseven.com/products/menusystems/index.htm
    Good luck.

  • Navigation menu on home page

I have set up my site so that not all my pages show up on my "home" page. They can go to a link called "photoagraphs" and see all the categories. But when I publish it all the categories show up on the home page. Can someone help me? Is there a way to get them off? I have when through the inspector to unselect them. On IWeb they don't show up but when I publish they end up showing up!???

Even when I delete the "home" page it still shows up in the site? I just don't understand?

  • Navigation menu links not working

I just published a site with iWeb and the navigation menu links are not working. They appear to be active when I mouseover them in iWeb, but but neither the mouseover effects nor the links themselves are working on the published site in Safari.

    Finally solved the problem.
The title of the webpage had a clickable link right above the navigation bar. Once I removed that the navigation bar started working.
I'd guess that the webpage title was "infront" of the clickable navigation bar.

  • Can you disable the DPS navigation menu?

I have a project where i have to create a doument with  all the bells and whistles of DPS for iPads. I've got to be able to navigate through buttons, have video and slideshows, different length pages, etc.  The thing is, the document is not meant to be published, but rather ran on several iPads at tradeshows. Indesign and DPS are the perfect solution except for the navigation menu (the home button on the iPad will be covered by an encasement). Is there any work around to disable the navigation menu (home, previous page, TOC...)? Can anyone recomend any other solution to this problem?
thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Johnnes -- This was not my question ... but I'd appreciate your help with
this question that I've posted in several forums with no answer:
As of cs5.5, I can't get a multi-state object to stay on the same state when the
ipad is rotated unless I use buttons with "go to next state"selected. When
"swipe" is selected in the Overlay panel OR when I'm changing states with
individual invisible buttons, such as in a timeline, the MSO reverts to the
    first state when rotated.
This worked fine in my previously published apps. Is it a software issue? I need
a new procedure? Viewer builder bug? Yes, the MSO has the same name and Links
    file.
    Help! Thanks, Beth

  • Tip: How to link to a non-iWeb page in the main navigation menu.

I've figured out an easy way to add a link to the main navigation menu which links to a URL of your choosing. For example, I have an older .Mac site using the now archaic HomePage. Instead of rebuilding all of my old pages in iWeb, I thought it would be nice to add a link to the old site from the top main navigation of the iWeb pages. Sounds easy, right? Apparently Apple has other ideas as iWeb doesn't allow you to do this.
    Here's a work-a-round:
Step 1.) Open iWeb and add a new page to your iWeb site. Pick any template, it doesn't matter which one.
Step 2.) Change the page name to whatever you want using the page inspector. Whatever you choose as a name here will be reflected in the main navigation menu. For example, I named my page "Photo Archives".
Step 3.) You don't need to edit this new page at all. In fact, we're going to erase all of the content in it later. Now publish your site.
Step 4.) If you're using .Mac, mount your iDisk to your desktop. Then navigate through the folders to: Web -> Sites -> iWeb -> <Your Site Name>. If you're hosting your site somewhere else, navigate to your root directory.
Step 5.) You should now be looking at all of the files which make up your iWeb site. Open the dummy page we created in Step 2 in a text editor. I used BBEdit, but TextEdit (see note below) will work just fine. For example, my dummy page is named "Photo Archives.html".
Note: If you're going to use TextEdit, you need to select the checkbox "Ignore rich-text commands in HTML files" from the Open & Save pane of the Preferences dialog PRIOR to opening the file from your iDisk.
Step 6.) Select all of the text (Command-A) and Delete.
Step 7.) Paste the following text, substituting the URL you want to link to.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><title></title><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://www.mydomain.com/mypage.html" /></head><body></body></html>
Step 8.) Save the file. You're done! You now have a link in the main navigation which goes to any URL you want.
      Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi,
I'm OK to step seven but in your example can you highlight or make bold the "url address part " I'm to replace with my own?
    Thanks!
Step 6.) Select all of the text (Command-A) and
    Delete.
Step 7.) Paste the following text, substituting the
URL you want to link to.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html
    PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"

How can I stick an accordion navigation MENU on top of a mobile scrolling page and make it work properly?
As I can't pin it, I keep it on top of the page with scroll effect 0.
It collapse, shows the menu buttons but doesn't close back once it reaches the anchorpoint.

Muse won't let you, at least not that I know of. You could find the class in the code that muse gives it position: fixed…I think. You could paste it into the head area of your page properties to override the class. I believe something like this would give you persistent nav bar, pinned at the very top, on mobile:
    #youmuseclass {position: fixed;}
I wouldn't use any parallax on mobile either, the performance is terrible.

  • Top Navigation Bar drop down menu's do not work

Top Navigation Bar drop down menu's do not work. It is only happening on a couple of my site collections and is affecting on the main page of those collections. There is only one web part on the main page, it is the Picture Library Slideshow web part. When
I remove that web part, the menu's come back and work with no problem. I re-add the web part and the menu's stop working. Not finding any error's in the server logs, there are no visual error's thrown.  Any advice on what might be happening? I've checked
the Java update on our computers and it has the latest version.  Open to any advice at this point.

  • Can you go back to second page of your menu without going to the main page.

I have created main page (first play) and second page for the chapters.
On the second page, after selecting any chapters, I want to go back to select another chapter from
the second page, But the dvd takes me back to the main page instead of second page. Can this be
    corrected.
    Thanks

Hi - welcome to the discussions.
Yes, it can be corrected - what you've done is set the menu call and/or end jump to go to the main menu. This is completely normal, but sometimes you don't want this to happen.
If you are playing a single chapter at a time and want to get back to the chapter menu afterwards then the best thing to do is to create a story and put the single chapter inside that. Point your menu buttons to the story container (not the chapter) and it will play. Stories are a little like tracks in that they can have end jumps and menu calls of their own. Simply click on the story, then use the commands in the property inspector to set up the place to go at the end of playback or if the user presses the menu button.
You would then repeat this for every chapter that you want this to happen for.
The whole track itself then acts as a 'play all' if you need it to - the stories do not interfere with this. You can set a different end jump and menu call for the track. An alternative would be to create a final story and put ALL of your chapters into it, and point your 'Play All' menu button to this story.
Stories can also be thought of as playlists (like in iTunes) where you set up the chapters you want to play back in the order that you want them. I would avoid making these too complex, however as it has a knock on effect on the way the DVD player has to work to make a smooth playback.
The other way to achieve what you want is to use some scripting, but there is no need to do this as it sounds as if stories will do all that you need.

Hello, I installed my new Apple TV and successfully completed the configuration (Wireless network, Apple ID, and others) yet I am always in the Computers and Setting page… can’t move to the main page – any idea on what and how, please?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, a number of users appear to have encountered this problem. Some of these users have reported that the problem just disappears the following day or shortly after. Other users have found various other solutions to this problem.
Firstly, are you receiving any date and time errors when you turn on your Apple TV?
Check that you are properly connected to the Internet, by ensuring that you have a proper IP address and not one starting with 169. Also check that your location for the iTunes Store is set correctly, if so you might try changing it and then changing it back.
If the problem persists try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general. You should also try restarting your router, or if this doesn't work you might like to try a restore.

  • My Side Navigation menu and spry tabbed panels aren't working together. Can I fix this?

I have made some tabbed panels, but my side navigation is not working correctly now. See the following page for an example. http://www.foxthermalinstruments.com/products/index.php   When you mouse (hover) over "Applications" on the side navigation menu you can see that some of the options are covered up by the tabs on the tabbed panel. If you try to hover down to one of the options that is covered or below the tabs on the tabbed panel the side navigation menu disappears. BTW, I am using Dreamweaver CS6.

I have to be brutally honest.  I refuse to use Spry.  Adobe abandoned the framework late last year after practically ignoring it for 3-1/2 years.  It served it's purpose for a few years but it doesn't hold up well in newer browsers like IE10 and touch screen devices.
Keep using it if you want but I don't have much interest in fixing something that is inferior to begin with.
My advice is to run away from Spry.  Either switch to jQuery or get any of the excellent commercial extensions from Project Seven.  You'll be glad you did.

  • Need to create a menu with subitems similar to OTN main page bar menu

    Hi,
    Using Jdev 11.1.1.5
I need to create a menu bar with simple sub-items (set of links to other sites or pages) similar to what OTN main page uses.
The menuBar with subitems shown in the ADF demo site is close but doesn't look like as OTN i.e. set of tab/boxes.
Link to the ADF demo with menuBar:
    http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/feature/index.jspx?_afrRedirect=3119879384215420#%2Fcomponents%2FmenuBar%2Felectronics.jspx%40%3FAdf-Window-Id%3Dw0
Not sure which ADF component to use?
    Thanks

Thanks Shay. I think skinning would be simpler and will make use of the provided components in ADF, but I haven't done any work with skinning but did use CSS so not sure how simple to figure this out.
Most of the commercial web site uses tabs/boxes as I am trying to do. It will be nice to have ADF component or simple solution.
    Thanks
