How do I set up Adobe Reader, so that the navigation pane is permanently open whenever I open a pdf?
Many thanks in advance for your advice.

  • I don't want navigation panes to open

    Every time I insert pages or select a tool, either the Page Thumbnail navigation pane opens or the Tool Set panel opens. How can I stop this? I don't have a large monitor, and I close those panes maybe thirty or forty times a day.

    There's nothing in Properties labelled as Display, and there is no menu labelled as default, and there is no menu choice labelled as document only.
    However, there is a tab labelled Initial View, and on that tab there is a menu item Navigation tab. That can be set to Page Only. However, that has no effect on the problem that I am having. It's not the initial view that's an issue, it's that when I execute certain commands or choose certain tools, a panel will open up.

  • Navigation pane ALWAYS OPEN!

    Whenever I open a document for the first time, the left hand nagivation pane where the bookmarks are is showing by default.  If I hide the pane and then close the document, it is still usually hidden the next time I open it.  However, I need this not to show up at all, I have so many documents that it will be extremely time consuming for me to go into each one and hide the pane.  What settings do I need to modify so that the pane is not showing?

  • Always show Navigation Pane?

    Hi
    Is there a way to always have the Navigation Pane visible?
    I use it constantly and it is really annoying in Acrobat DC to always have to show all the options for the Pane I regularly use.

    Hi 32323232323,
    Please let me know if Navigation Pane is open by default for every PDF file that you open in Acrobat DC.
    In a particular document, you can hide Navigation Pane (as suggested above) and save it.
    Then, open your file again and it will be hidden. The buttons that are displayed on the left hand side work area just provide you an easy access to several panels.
    You can refer this KB doc link to know more about Acrobat DC workspace basics:

  • Acrobat Pro  9.0 - Open navigation pane as default

    Can anyone tell me if there is a way to configure Acrobat Pro 9.0 to open the Navigation pane with the Pages view by default for all documents?

    I know you can set the initial view for a particular document. I do not see a method for setting an initial view for all documents that includes opening the Navigation Pane with Pages view.
    Thanks,

  • Can I permanently disable the navigation pane in HTML help?

    My company has a web-based application on MicroStrategy platform.
    I have created a customized WebHelp to replace the MicroStrategy out of the box help and that works just fine.
    We are developing the MicroStrategy Office add-in for Excel for our clients.
    Once installed, a CHM file is copied to the client's local hard drive.
    We want to replace this with our own customized help.
    I have created a CHM file with ONE topic that redirects the clients to our customzied WebHelp with content for the add-in.
    The one topic has a redirect in the HTML header code as follows:
    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;URL=https://customhelp.htm#AddIn_Introduction.htm" />
    That is working fine in my testing.
    Here is my problem...
    The HTML Help Viewer opens and automatically hides the Navigation Pane and displays the WebHelp (navigation pane, menu bar and topic pane).
    But, the HTML Help Viewer still has the Hide/Show button to Hide/Show the navigation pane for the HTML help.
    Is there ANY way to disable this or hide it or let it stay there but disable the navigation pane?
    As always, any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks --

    Amebr and Priyank --
    Thanks - that did exactly what I wanted it to do.
    It did not work in my testing, but I think the KEY point that I missed was the sequence of unchecking the options in the Window setup.
    Now I have a one topic CHM help file that automatically redirects to my WebHelp on my application server.
    The CHM opens and automatically redirects to my WebHelp and the WebHelp (frameset and all) display in an HTML Help Viewer window that has no HTML Help Viewer navigation buttons.
    One last note, the WebHelp displays with the Contents/Index/Search for WebHelp included in the presentation.
    I have not deployed this in a non-test environment so I may still run into issues but so far it is good.
    THANKS for all the help.

  • Want Navigation Pane to Default as Open in v8 Pro

    Whenever a PDF is opened in v8 Pro, the Navigation Pane is closed.
    My users want the Nav Pane to always be open.
    How is this change best effected?  Can this be done?  And can different users have different defaults (Opened/Closed)?
    Thank you.
    Richard

    User can set their "Preferences" that will be the default, but this can be overridden by the PDF's document properties 'Initial View'.

  • Can one set "Navigation Pane Buttons" Left Sidebar to 'Default Hidden' and 'Not Open' upon opening Any .pdf document?

    Can one set "Navigation Pane Buttons" Left Sidebar to 'Default Hidden' and 'Not Open' upon opening Any .pdf document?

    Photoshop has to have full administrator rights to have read/write access.
    This means you need to run Photoshop CS5.1 in an Administrator account and set it up to "Run as Administrator."
    1. Close Photoshop if it's open.
    2. Right click on your Photoshop CS5.1 launch icon then select "Run as Administrator" from the context menu. (You will have to enter Admin Password if UAC is enabled to change this setting.)
    3. Launch Photoshop CS5.
    4. See if you create and save a document.
    Even if you are in an Administrator account you have to do this as Vista's Admin account isn't really the Super Admin as it is in XP so you have to elevate the rights by selecting "Run as Administrator". This setting is sticky so you should only have to do this once. I am not sure why CS3 is suddenly acting as if it does't have Admin rights unless you are running it in a new account that isn't an administrator or maybe uninstalled (cleanScript?) then reinstalled.
    If can't create or save a document, check that the account that Photoshop is in is an Administrator account.
    To check if you are in an Administrator account...
    1. Type user account in your Vista or Windows7 start search bar. (Start search bar is at the bottom of the panel that opens when you click the start Windows start globe located on the far left hand side of your Windows task bar.)
    2.  Click on "User Accounts" which should show up at the top of the list. This will open the dialog to User Accounts where you can "Change Your Account Type". If UAC (User Account Control) is turned on, you will need to enter the Admin password to change this setting.

    Hi Frank,
    I did the same. i created a managed bean and the in UI shell template , i created a binding of panelsplitter with the varibale in managed bean.Created getter setter method.
    create two method doexpand and docollapse.
    In the region i used rangeNaviagtionListerner.
    public void onRegionNavigated(RegionNavigationEvent region) {
    String viewId = region.getNewViewId();
    if (viewId.equalsIgnoreCase("/single-task-flow/PreInspectionView")) {
    doCollapsePanel(myPanel);
    else {
    doExpandPanel(myPanel);
    private void doCollapsePanel(RichPanelSplitter panel){
    panel.setCollapsed(true);
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(panel);
    private void doExpandPanel(RichPanelSplitter panel){
    panel.setCollapsed(false);
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(panel);
    It work fine. But whenever i click on some global link on template and came into the same region nd same taskflow then , it stop working.Panel is not collasping. Control is not going to this rangeNaviagtionListerner.
    Frank -Please suggest where i am doing wrong.

  • Navigation Pane Items Do Not Open Automatically

    ROBOHELP v. 7
    Primary output in my project is FLASHHelp.
    The navigation pane does not open automatically as I click
    through pages in my project. This is a problem.
    I changed the primary layout to WEBHELP, and re-compiled my
    project.
    Now, as I click through my help pages, the Navigation pane
    opens to reveal the exact page I'm viewing (as expected).
    How can I make this work in FlashHelp?

    Sorry about the confusion. Here's the problem:
    Whatever page I'm viewing, I expect the TOC to expand and the
    page I'm on should be highlighted in the TOC. It works fine in
    WEBHELP, but not in FLASHHELP.
    1. I generate my primary layout (FlashHELP). I want to see
    the TOC in the navigation pane. The TOC is there and it can be seen
    and accessed. I can click on any entry in the TOC and I'm brought
    to the correct page.
    2. On my DEFAULT TOPIC page are links to other pages in the
    project, just like the TOC. When I click on any link on my DEFAULT
    TOPIC page, the correct page opens as expected, but the TOC does
    NOT expand and highlight the page I'm on.
    If I click on a breadcrumb to take me to another page, the
    TOC still does not expand and highlight the page I'm currently on.
    That's the problem.
    Again, it works fine in Webhelp, not FLASHhelp.

  • How to lock ''Navigation Pane'' in Adobe Acrobat Standard 9

    Hello everyone, I want the Navigation Pane in Adobe Acrobat Standard 9 locked. I want the navigation pane lock in this position. Can it be possible ?

    thank you for the suggestion, but I do not have a "Send Email" or "Submit" button available in my version. I have "Attach to email" option which automatically opens a new message in MS outlook (which I did not set up, it just started doing so automatically) without any further dialogue boxes or options.
    Also, this is only for regular PDF files, not forms.

  • How do I remove a navigation pane in acrobat reader XI

    How do I remove at all a navigation pane on the left  in acrobat reader XI? It is really very annoying remove it hundred times using the right mouse button.

    Every time I open a new pdf file, there a navigation bar appears on the left (see screen). I do not need it and it really bothers when I working by place two parallel windows on the screen. For sure it can be removed by clicking the right mouse button. But it must be done every time, and it tires.
    How can I make this navigation bar does not appear, I do not know. I looked on the internet, but found nothing. Probably, in principle, developers could leave the pane on the machine on default, but to make an easy way to remove it and save the settings for the future opening new files.

  • How do I hide the Navigation Pane by default in a programmable way?

    Hi guys,
    I am looking for a way to make a PDF file not showing navigation pane when it is opened, in a programmable way.
    I have referred to the PDF references, and found a ViewerPreferences dictionary which can control the viewer appearance, and there is a entry
    Key
    Type
    Value
    HideWindowUI
    boolean
    (Optional) A flag specifying whether to hide user interface elements in
    the document’s window (such as scroll bars and navigation controls),
    leaving only the document’s contents displayed. Default value: false.
    But after I specified the HideWindowUI with true, the navigation pane is still showing up with the bookmark expanded.
    I know there is a way by specifying the opening parameter with "navpanes=0" with command line or change the windows registry. But I can't do this because I can't ask every of my customers do this way.
    Could someone provide suggestions or insights on that?
    Thanks!

    Hi Rave,
    I have ever seen this method before, but it can't address my problem. I can't ask my customers to change their registry, cause I even don't know who they are...
    What I can control is just the content of the PDF file.
    Thanks anyway!

  • Word 2011 for Mac: Advanced question regarding the navigation pane--aka sidebar

    Hi everyone--
    I'm a new Mac owner, with a Macbook Pro 13" 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, with 8GB RAM, 256GB storage. I'm operating on the latest OS (Maverick), freshly purchased from the Apple store today (July 5, 2014).
    Can you help me figure out if there is some way, in Word 2011 for Mac, to use the navigation pane (aka Sidebar) to click and drag entire sections of the document to a new location? This was basic (advanced, but fundamental) functionality in every version of Word I've used in recent years on Windows machines, and it is the critical reason I purchased Word instead of using one of a dozen free options. My job involves managing and editing large documents--from 2500 to 90,000 words--and the navigation pane/sidebar is crucial to my sanity.
    Previously, I would open the navigation pane and it would show me the structure of my document based on the Heading types. I could click on a heading (say, a chapter title), inside the navigation pane, and drag it to a new location elsewhere in the document. So simple to rearrange the structure of large documents this way. Now, in the Word 2011 for Mac, I can call up the navigation pane (now called the "sidebar") and view the structure of the doc, but I can't actually click and drag anything in the navigation pane.
    Other than this, so far my switch to Mac has gone swimmingly. I love the machine, and am amazed at how much cleaner and easier it is to set up than Windows machines. I'm so frustrated that I even have to interface with Microsoft any more, but this one piece of functionality is critical to me.
    Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
    Heather

    Dear Heather,
    I don't know the specific answer to your question.
    But as a new Mac owner, you should make sure that you are using the very latest version of Word 2011 for Mac.
    My recommendation, if you haven't already done this, is to open Word and do Help > Check for Updates from Word's menu, and install any updates Microsoft has released.
    They typically issue updates once or twice a month.
    Enjoy your Mac!

  • Adobe X Standard Navigational Pane

    I am in the process of purchasing Adobe X, and need to see if the Navigational Pane works the same way in Adobe X Standard and Professional.  With Adobe X Standard, are you able to have two pdf's open at the same time in seperate windows, and drag and drop between PDF documents?  Also, would PDF documents saved in Adobe 9 Pro be able to open and be edited (drag and drop pages) with Adobe X Standard?
    Thanks

    Can someone by chance try this today with Adobe X Standard?  I need to get this ordered this afternoon if possible.
    Thanks!
