Navigation within articles

I am trying to add navigation buttons that jump to other pages within the same article. I have tried the navigation function in the buttons panel as well as used the hyperlinks panel "go to page" function. No dice. It will work on preview in the Overlay Creator panel, but not the Adobe Content Viewer when uploaded to Acrobat.com. Any advice?

There was a bug that prevented the Go to Page button action from working. This bug should be fixed in the most current release. The workaround is to use the "navto" approach.

Navigation within a pop-up window.

Hi,
I have a question regarding navigation within a pop-up window.
The pop-up window is generated as below, the component usage is defined in the runtime repository for the main window.
lo_contracts_popup     = comp_controller->window_manager->create_popup(

Within the component, there are two views defined and assigned to that window. If the component is tested by itself navigation is possible in the usual manner using a navigational link, clicking the button calls the outbound plug, then the inbound plug then the bsp page and then the screen changes to show the new view, this uses the following code
CALL METHOD op_toamendrep( ).
Then in the outbound plug:-
me->view_manager->navigate( source_rep_view = me->rep_view
                              outbound_plug   = 'ToAmendRepresentative' ).
However when the same chain of events is actioned in the pop-up, the navigational link is called the plugs are called and the associated BSP code is run through in the debugger, but the actual screen in the pop-up window is still shows the first view, not the second as we would expect.
Can you please help me to resolve this issue?

I had the same issue and I found turning off safai extensions fixed the issue. Must be an extension that's causing this problem.

Trace user on EP6 when navigating within Portal

Hi Team,
We have migrated from EP5 to EP6 sp2.
Our users that are working via the Metaframe XP are experiencing problems when navigating within Portal.
eg. If the user selects ESS, the screen returns back to the same screen. It was working fine on EP5.
Users that do not use the Metaframe are working fine on EP6.
I need to trace the user activity from the time the user
signs onto Portal and signoff.
I tried looking at trace files on the OS level and i also
enabled the HTTP tracing, but had very little joy.
I suspect it might be a Browser cookie problem.
Could someone help with this problem.

A couple of things you could try
1) Try clearing the browser cache, as there may still be files hanging around from the EP5 system that the EP6 system doesn't like.
As for tracing the user activity, you could use a browser sniffing tool and simulate what the user is doing. I personally use HttpWatch, which sits in the IE browser as an icon in the top toolbar. When activated this will detail all requests and responses to and from the browser. I am not too sure how much this information will help with trying to identify the problem, but it could be a start.
It might also be worth trying to use Firefox and looking in the Javascript console to see if there are any javascript errors

Navigating within an app...

How do I 'go back' a screen within an app?
For example, I downloaded 'GoodReader' for pdfs. I've loaded some into it, where they sit nicely in the list of PDF's. I touch one to check if it's the version I want, but then, I just want to go back to the list. But there's no 'backward arrow'. Only option seems to be to click the Home button, which only takes me back to the apps icons.
I know this is simple. But I checked the iPad 'Guide' and nothing speaks to this.

Well, I'm back again. Now I have the iPad guide open (which was a pdf from GoodReader), and all that happens if I tap it is it gets bigger. The instructions for using the 'Multitasking' bar don't seem to work for me. If I click Home to go back to the GoodReads Icon and touch it, hoping to in that way return to the GR Doc list, all it does is return me back to the iPad guide.
Earlier I was able to tap twice and bring back an arrow key up top I could tap to get back to the list of docs. But it's not working now. ?
I don't understand why the iPad guide doesn't give you touch/tap instructions for navigating within apps--only the basics of how to get Home, bigger, smaller, etc. This is most frustrating.
Help, anyone?

What if anything is being done to fix the lag issues between articles and

Hi Graham,
your first step to find articles that hugely add to the file size is to log in into acrobat.com (not digitalpublishing.acrobat.com, just acrobat.com) with the credentials corresponding to the folio in question. There you can see the size of each article/stack. You can sort them by size to find the biggest one.
Du to the way folios are build right now, stacks with a lot of MSO (multi state objects) tend to get the biggest ones, especially on Retina iPad. Every single state of every single MSO is rendered into a PNG with transparency. Fullscreen MSO states (like in zoomable pictures) easily can be 3-4 MB in size. If you have a lot of states doubled by to alignements (landscape and portrait) your whole folio gets huge quite fast.
File size:
Try to eleiminate as many MSO states as possible.
Maybe don't even render a 2048-Rendition.
Use PDF instead of jPEG or PNG as export mode.
Dont add Full HD Videos, stay with about 800-1024 of pixels width and keep the bitrate between about 1 and 1.5 MBit/s
All in all though, i'm not sure if the performance problems arise from the big file size of single stacks. There could be more reasons for slow rendering Stacks:
Give interactive web elements a delay of 0.125 s so they are not preloaded when a reader arrives on the stck before.
Use as little web elements per stack as possible (we encounter poor performance already with only two simple web elements per stack)
Don't use the iOS Audio/Video renderer for playing audio/video tags in web elements (use jPlayer instead e.g.)
I'm not sure if there is a bug within the newest version of the content viewer which leads to poor performance problems. This should not be the case in v20 or v21 Custom Viewer Apps.

Links in portal toolbar no longer working after navigating within a room

Hi!
We have a rather strange problem. Say a user navigates to the collaboration room list ("collaboration" -> "rooms") and enters a room. When he/she then changes the part of the room (e.g. from "Room Discussions" to "Room Documents"), the second row of the top navigation bar gets inoperable.
Our portal menu looks like this ("=some entry=" means "selected"):
Intranet
Help
Content-Administration
=Collaboration=
=Rooms=
My Tasks
My Meetings
After entering a room and changing to any other room page than the one initially shown, the menu jumps to this state:

Content-Administration
Collaboration
=Rooms=

So suddenly the first entry in the top bar is highlighted, not "collaboration" anymore. (I can tell it's always the first entry who gets selected, since not every user's view has "Intranet" as the first entry - and still the first entry gets selected.) From now on, "Rooms", "My Tasks" and "My Meetings" are inoperable. They are still clickable links, but clicking on them causes a javascript error and nothing happens. ("'gNavTree.children[...].children' is null or no object")
Clicking on "Collaboration" in the top level navigation bar fixes the problem. The page reloads and everything is as it should be. This is reproducible in IE and Firefox. A complete reboot of the portal did not help. This only occurs when browsing within a room. Browsing within other parts of the portal does not have this effect.
Unfortunately I don't recall which change we made to the portal that caused this. (It definitely worked at some point before.) I do recall, however, that we translated "collaboration" (and only "collaboration") to another term better suited to our needs using the portal content translation feature. However, to rule this out as a cause of the problem I reverted to the original naming and the problem remained. Just thought I'd mention it for what it's worth.
Does anyone have any ideas?

we have an open call on this issue. SAP replied on the 10th of March:
"As this DTN issue isn't reproducable on our SP15 system, please upgrade your KM version to PL1, as per NOTE 911395(same as our test system). If for some reason the issue still exists after this upgrade I will further this issue with our Dev colleagues."
I read the note mentioned (which contains a list of the changes in PL1) and it says nothing about this issue in particular, if I'm not mistaken. Our system is on SP15 (not SP15 PL1), so we'll have to upgrade to PL1 first before we can investigate this any further. I currently don't know when this update is scheduled by our systems engineering department.
Is your system on PL1 by any chance? If so, then the problem has not been fixed in PL1 - which would be interesting for us to know.

Navigation within a subdirectory

I'm not new to Flash, but am doing something I haven't tried
before. I am creating a store using a Flash navigation bar in the
header for just a few of the categories. But enough of that ...
Here is the deal. The Flash nav works great on the main pages
outside of the store directory. But on pages that appear within the
store directory will not jump to the page when clicked on. The Nav
bar will show, and the buttons even work as far as the mouseover
effect and sound. But when clicked they will not jump to the page.
Just to see if it is a directory problem I created a page
inside of a directory called test. When I go to that page
everything works. In the store I am using oscommerce (which are php
pages) so I thought it might be having trouble with a php page. So
I created a test php page inside of my test directory and it worked
just fine. I moved the test php page inside the store's catalog
directory and tried it there, and it still worked.
But when it comes to working in the oscommerce pages, it just
will not. Any clues or something I can try? All links are absolute
(not relative). I'm using the code attached on the buttons.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Twirly colored circle takes over & prevents navigation within a site or program

I am able to log in but once within a site or program a twirly , spinning colored circle takes over . It does not completely lock MAC but does not allow me to continue & mAkes it almost impossible to back out of the site or program.

Page navigation within tabs in JSF

How can i navigate to another page within a tab in JSF?
I am using html div tags to put tabs on my page. Now i want to click on a link in page1 under TAB1 and move to page2 under TAB1.
How can i achieve this?
I have defined the page navigation rules in faces-config.xml but it does not work. Even after clicking on a link it still displays page 1 under tab1.
I have checked that my backing bean is working fine and it is able to get data from database.

Navigation within swf files that use different version of actionscript

I have multiple swf files that need to link up together, the problem is this, some of the files was developed a few years ago with Flash MX and actionscript 1 while some of these files was developed recently in CS 5 with actionscript 3.
Is it possible to navigate within different version of actionscript files in the same flash player?
I found that actionscript 1 file will not work once i have navigated to actionscript 3 file.
Any suggession or solutions would be highly appreciate.

Actually, it will not work properly. Given, the code behind all these swf(s) is Object Oriented then there is a solid chance of getting them to communicate with each other without any issue. Once suggestion would be to centralize the navigation into its own swf and then dispatchEvents and have the listeners handle the rest. I am sure there are other avenues, but I would do it this way so if there any other such file(s) in the future, all you will need to do is hook the plumbing up and off it goes. Now if the code is anything but 'Object Oriented' then it will take good chunk of time to get the navigation going. However way you decide to pursue it, test it rigorously so there aren't any foo surprises.

Building linkable navigation within an indesign document when exporting to pdf

I'm working in InDesign CS3 and wondering if there is a way to create a linkable navigation in the program when exporting it to pdf. Also, how, if its possible, do I build an html file out of an InDesign document or exported from ID as a pdf?

ID CS3 has an export to crossmedia xml for DreamWeaver option, but you need to edit the result in a html editor like DreamWeaver to clean it up and get a better result. You will never be able to get a page in html that looks exactly the same as in ID though unless you provide a pdf-page for download. You also do not have control of how a pdf on the web is shown for the user in his/her browser as that setting for that is done by the user, not by the page. Some show it on the page, others have pdfs for download (like me).

Navigation within a block of data

I'm in the process of re-writing my old old Excel Spreadsheet for financials into Numbers.
The first bit, getting the formulas to survive a sort by date was asked and answered in a thread "Problems sorting after applying a simple formula". I have that working in test and I am happy to observe that when formatted text is sorted in numbers the formatting seems to go with the data - I remember having different outcomes sometime ago in ooo.
Anyway, the question.
My Financials (in Excel) are a year a page and will be over 1,000 lines long (all my accounts in one sheet).
Today (being July of course) will be about 400 lines down and the remaining lines (below TODAY) contain a mixture of budget and forecast items (for example I know I will have a Rates bill to pay in 10 days so it sits in the sheet with the correct date (in the middle of next week) getting closer to TODAY each time I sort.
To assist me in Navigating to TODAY, that Journal entry is left blank and I can get to it from anyplace in the Journal Column with <end><up> or <end><down> (as appropriate). In fact this is in a little Macro that sorts the data (select all using captured keystrokes, sort, position the cursor with <end><up>).
I can cope without macros (Numbers does not do macros - Check?) but navigation over so much data without my trusty <end><direction arrow> is too painful to contemplate.
Keyboard Shortcusts in Numbers Help tells me that <end> is "Scroll to end of sheet".
Is there some way of navigating through big blocks of data such as this<end><direction arrow> trick?
I'm thinking some sort of Find but Numbers would need to remember a unique target between sessions for thst to be an easy answer.

Here's a completely different method that you may want to consider. In all my Numbers documents that involve dates, I have (strategically located) a 2-Cell table that has a Header cell "Today" and just below it a cell with the formula: =TODAY(). It's handy on several levels. Format your today formula cell with the "1/5/2009" Date option - this format works best (and I don't know why). It doesn't matter how you have formatted the date you want to find, but what you will paste into the Find Window needs to be formatted this way.
Now, activate the FIND panel with a COMMAND-F and it will open at the bottom of your Numbers window.
Then to locate the current date you would select your special TODAY cell, COMMAND-C, click in the Find window, COMMAND-V. You will get at least one hit, the cell with the TODAY() expression. If the date appears anywhere else, you will get a line for this in your list of finds and clicking on it will take you there. Often I'm looking for a date a week or 10 days earlier than today's date. It's easy to create an expression for this: =TODAY()-7, for instance.
Hope this gives you something to think about.

Books navigation within iBooks

I am a iOS developer and I use extensitvely iBooks with reference manuals (epub and PDF books mostly). It is a great tool compared to Kindle, especially with the ability to organize books in collections.
One thing that should be improved is the ability to keep several books open at once, rather than having to go back to the library, change the collection, select the book to open it, and then shortly after back to the first book (again going back to the library, change the collection and re-select the previous book).
Could it be possible for Apple to make it a tad more sophisticated so that we can navigate not only from page to page in a single book but from a selection of "open books". I remember at school for some work we had several books open on the table and we were passing from one to the other. Now student have the internet more than book, but the concept is still valid.
Now with apps like iBook it should not only be possible to browse from book to book in a set but also from part of a book to another part of the same book in the same manner (without having to either turn pages from one part to ther other or having to go back to the TOC, sometimes a very long TOC).
Especially with the push (I think it's great) in the educational books, it would be great that iBooks becomes more than an apps to read sequentially a novel but to effectively "work" with books.
What do you think of that suggestion?

You can add bookmarks to different pages within an ibook and access them via its Contents Bookmarks Notes screen, but that might not be as sophisticated as you are want.

TOC and Navigation to articles

So far, every app I have produced has been a single Indesign document.
I used buttons on the TOC to navigate to individual pages.
Upong examination of the button options though I noticed that it is just pages, there are no jump to article.
So if I set up my next app to have a cover article, toc article and then a few content articles, how would I make a button on the toc jump to article 3 and then a button on that article that would take you back to the toc?

PROBLEM description:
when row is selected, displaying of the details on the right frame works well. but when another event of the tableView is triggered eg. browsing between table pages, the wohle table is displayed in the right frame instead to turn the table-page but stay in the same frame. of course this is done, because i have set the form-target attribute.
and here the question: how can i differentiate between the onRowSelection-Event (navigation to the right frame) and the page-browsing event (stay in same frame but change the tableView page)?

since you dont have sort or filter option for your table value, you can simply use the rowindex to read the itab.
read table itab index selectedrowindex.
on your other question of using more than one field in the itab for key of a record.
declare another field in the itab and fillit with the concatenation of the key fields (say concatenate recornumber itemnumber into keyfield) and dont show it in the tableview. declare this field as the key column in tableview.
onrowselection this key value will be available in
tabvie->selectedrowkey which you can use to read the itab. however in your case this is not required as you dont use sort or filter.
