Navigational Attr. in Multiprovider?

Hi All
Has anyone encountered this doubt?
When you have multiprovider on two cubes,
where your navigational attr. is enabled,
whereas in Multiprovider the same navigation attr. object will be enabled or not automatically or need to enable manually?

Usually the steps are likely below :
1. make sure nav att is ON by tick the checkbox in your two info cubes
2. make sure nav att is ON by tick the checkbox in your multiprovider
3. make sure indentify(assign) your nav att in your multiprovider
4. make sure u have activate the info cube and multiprovider to apply changes
5. close and re-open your query and see the nav att if already applied in separate info objects.

Hi experts,
We are using BEx 3.X.
We have a report based on an infoset. We want to use some navigational attributes in the query and
restrict the values of these attributes.
But we are unable to use them as navigational attr. They are displayed as display attributes only.
We are unable to restrict them. This is because the query is on Infoset.
When i use the same navigational attr in a query based on a infocube, it is displaying as Navigational Attr.
We are in BI 7 but using BEx 3.X.
How to resolve this ?

Master Data Read
A simple master data read should be done using generic BI functionality in the update rules. Choose the
option u201CMaster Data Attribute ofu201D in the update rule details for the selected characteristic and select an
attribute by using the F4 help. With this setting, the value of the characteristic to be updated is read from the
master data table of the specified characteristic.
Characteristic Material is provided by the InfoSource.
Characteristic Material Group is not provided by the InfoSource.
Characteristic Material Group is an attribute of characteristic Material
Therefore you can fill Material Group from the master data table of Material: Select the method Master Data
Attribute from and Material as source.
The generic master data read only works for characteristics that are available in the communication
structure.
For a more complex master data read or if the characteristic is not available in the communication structure,
you have to implement the master data read yourself in a routine for the specific characteristic. If so, the
function module RSAU_READ_MASTER_DATA should be used to read the master data.
In Infoset u can use max 2 cubes......and Infoobjects 'N' number u can use.......

we are unable to give the Fixed value for a Navigational Attr (Vendor A/c Group) irrespective of wheather PO (Mater char for Vendor A/e Group) in the aggregate.

Missing some values for Navigation attr

Hi All,
1.     We are using a Navigational attr for an MD Info object
2.     This Nav attr is used in Cube(Checked box - as Nav @ cube level)
3.     Problem is : I am able to see all Navigation attr values data , but randomly missing some values for this Nav attr.
u2022     What is the reason?
u2022     Please advise step wise..Any seetings I missed?

Cube neednot display all values of your navigational attributes.It displays only value for which it recieved the main infoobject.
eg :assume 0MATERIAL and nav attr say A.
Then only values for 0MATERIAL which is present in the cube the nav attribute will be displayed.

Purpose of 'I/O' check box in 'Switching on/off Navigation Attr.' ?

What is the purpose of 'I/O' check box in 'Switching on/off Navigation Attr.' screen in InfoCube definition? (Edit InfoCube: Characteristics)
There are three columns in the screen. Navigation Attribute, Long description and I/O (check box.) Navigation Attribute & Long description are automatically populated by the system based on which attribute I selected as Navigational in respective InfoObject definitions.
Do I need to check the 'I/O' check box inorder to use these navigational attributes in the Query (to use all the features of Nivigational attr. like drill down & display like a char. etc.) ?

Hi lakshmi,
You are right, that check box will enable you to use a nav attr in the query. If you do not select it here, then even though this char has a nav attr, you will not be able to see or use it in the query designer.

Transport error while adding new Navigational Attr to InfoCube on BIA

Hi Gurus,
I have added a new field in the Profit Center Master data(0PROFIT_CTR_ATTR) in R/3 and the changes seem to be working fine in BW. This 0PROFIT_CTR is present in one of the InfoCubes that we have on the BIA. I have turned 'ON' the newly added Navigational Attribute in the InfoCube and have saved the changes. Now when I try to transport these changes to the QA for testing, the transport is getting cancelled with the message 'NOT CORRECT USAGE' in rsddtrex.
I am wondering if this is because I have added and turned'ON' a new Navigational attribute in the InfoCube under the BIA.Maybe the BIA index and the the InfoCube structure do not match because of this newly added Nav Attr in the InfoCube?
Do you have any suggestions on this. I was under the impresiion that even if this was the case, the transports should succeed and only the rollup to the BIA process should fail in the BIA rather than the transports to QA.
Any suggestions?

1223284 - BIA index set to inactive 'A' after InfoCube activation.

Problem making an infoobject navigation attrib in multiprovider

Hi
I have a bespoke infoobject ZPNLATTRB assigned as a navigation attribute of 0ACCOUNT master data. I could successfully switch this infoobject as nav attrib in the cubes and dso. However when I tried to switch this infoobject as nav attrib in the multiprovider (containing those cubes and dso), I received an error 'Assignments for InfoObject 0ACCOUNT__ZPNLATTRB have not yet been maintained'.
The Diagnosis says:
The MultiProvider definition contains an InfoObject that has not been assigned to the relevant InfoProviders.
The Procedure says:
Choose Identification and highlight the assignment for InfoObject 0ACCOUNT__ZPNLATTRB, or remove the InfoObject from the MultiProvider.
I don't reckon I need to map the nav attrib ZPNLATTRB as its value is derived through 0ACCOUNT.

Yes, thanks, I've managed to assign the nav attrib ZPNLATTRB in the multiprovider.. it took me some time to look for the 'assign'.
I have a further question relating to this. In my multiprovider I have included 2 cubes and an infoset and in this infoset I've included a write-opt. DSO. I had to create an inner join between my DSO and the 0ACCOUNT master data in order for the ZPNLATTRB to appear in the multiprovider for assignment between the infoset and the 2 cubes for this nav attrib.
I'd like to avoid using inner joins in my infoset as it slows down reporting. Do you know of a better way to design this model?

I've created multiprovider. When I try to drag and drop the navigational attribute from the infoprovider available in the multiprovider to the navigational attribute folder, it does not move so. Please tell me how to add navigational attribute, dimensions in the multiprovider.

Not able to check navigation attribute in Multiprovider

I am trying to check the navigation attribute in the multiprovider which is built against Infoobject, ODS, & Infoset. I am not able to do it bcoz it is grayed out in the multiprovider.
I checked in the infoobject definition, there it is turned on navigation.
FYI, i am using version 3.1C

Hai San,
If you want to make the object under Navigational in the multi provider that object should come from Cube(Possible).
If you want to bring that object under navigational through Infoset(not Possible).

URGENT!!Adding Navigational attr. throws error while activating 0mat_plant

I am adding a navigational attribute to 0mat_plant...
& after that when I am activating 0mat_plant, it throws an error as follows:
DiagnosisErrors arose when activating InfoObject 0MAT_PLANT. An active version already existed before the activation.
System ResponseInfoObject 0MAT_PLANT could not be reset to the old active version. Since the generated objects no longer correspond to the old active version, they were reset to inactive.
ProcedureThe old active version of InfoObject 0MAT_PLANT can no longer be used. Remove the cause of the activation error and activate InfoObject 0MAT_PLANT anew.
Pls help me with this issue ASAP...

when I add & activate the 0mat_plant..I am getting the above error as I stated in my first message.
I need one more clarification...could you pls let me know..when you create an infoobject, under the GENERAL TAB, u have a option for ONLY ATTRIBUTE...What is the use of it?

Navigational attr in aggrigates

I have Material type as an attribute of 0material and i checked material type as navigational attribute. i want to create an aggregate with material and material type(navigational attribute).
is it possible ?
when i tried to create it initially i got a message saying material type(navigational attribute) cannot be included as i have 0material in the aggregate.
but still went ahead and created one. after activating the aggregate i do not see material type in the aggregate definition.
any anyone throw some light on this issue pls

I just wonder what you would achieve by adding 0material and one of its navigational attributes in an aggregate. If you use 0material in the aggregat, it automatically contains all navigational attributes of 0material.
It would only make sense to build an aggregate without 0material but with material type. Then, each time there is a query which depends on material type, it will use the aggregate.

Navigational Attr. problem

We have reference char. which is refering to 0CUSTOMER.
This has Nsv. Attr. 0COUNTRY.
We are using this Nav. Attr. as selection parameter for Query.
The problem is that for the customers of GREECE country there are double entries in the master data with different Source SYS ID. One entry with country GREECE and Source Sys ID P1 , the other entry is without country and Source Sys Id FF.
If we input GREECE in the query selection parameters it is not retriving any data.
I have checked data in the cube, data exists for these Customers.
I have checked CUBE & Infoonject using RSRV, everything is fine.
What could be the solution?

Navigational attr in info-set.

I am using BW3.5
I want display attribute as navigation attribute, so that i can restrict some of the conditions in the query designer,
For this,
1) first i checked in the master data object whether it is navigation attribute or not, i found that it is a navigation attribute
2) Then in the ods i have swicted on i.e. the check box is checked, in the folder NavAttribute. and activated the ods.
3) In the info-set, the field is not available.
If i create report on ods, in report level the object is available, but if i create report on info-set the object is not available.
So to available the object in the report level by creating on info-set. i need to do any settings in info-set level if so please tell me step by step.

Virtual Char to fetch Navigational Attr of a Navigational Attr

As per the Data volume I can delete data from my cube to include a Transitive Attribute to get the Navigational Attribute of a Navigational Attribute Information in Report.
Other option I am considering is Virtual Charu2026.can any one please update me with the logic that I need to use.
0CUST_SALES --> 0CUST_SALES__0PLANT --> 0PLANT__0PLANTCAT
0CUST_SALES__0PLANT is a Nav Attribute of 0CUST_SALES
0PLANT__0PLANTCAT is a Nav Attribute of 0PLANT
In my cube I had 0CUST_SALES and 0CUST_SALES__0PLANT information available and my requirement is to have a Virtual Char similar to 0PLANTCAT which have to populated at query runu2026

right click on the particular infoobject and say change (do it in sand box first please and get you supervisor approval because it is a lot of work to do). Know check the navigational arritbute flag, acitvate it. but please note that it will change in all the queries whereever this infoobject is used. Can anybody eloborate this process in detail step by step.
