Navigational Attribute in BEx

Hi,
I have a problem with  navigational attribute in BEx reporting.  Product hierarchy 1 to 4 (0PRODH1 to 0PRODH4  referencing 0PROD_HIER) is a navigational attribute in 0MATERIAL. In query from an ODS I am able to include them and able to filter on it using a variables, but I am not able to get subtotal on the basis of PRODH3, but able to subtotal on the basis of PRODH1 & PRODH2.
I run RSRV on 0MATERIAL & 0PROD_HIER and there is no error on it.
If anybody know how to rectify this issue pls reply.
Thanks
EV

Try this:
My experience is that the property of showing subtotals in bex, is pointing at the characteristic to the left in your report  of the one you are changinin  .
If you have
Fiscal year, profit Center , Customer ,  Product,
And want subtotals on the two first. BUT NOT Customer and product..
The property show subtotals should be choosen for the first three.
Fiscal year, profitcenter AND customer.
Hope this helps.

  • How to use Navigational attributes in BEx

    Hi experts,
I have searched many threads regarding navigational attributes in BEX.
But unable to find any info.
How the navigational attributes are used in BEx query designer.
What is the difference between characteristics and Nav attr in Query designer.
Every one n saying  Nav attr are used for drill down purpose.
What exactly is this drill down .
Please send me any related documents also.
    Please answer me.
    Thanks in advance
    Sundar

    Hi,
Characteristic attributes can be converted into navigation attributes. They can be selected in the query in exactly the same way as the characteristics for an InfoCube. In this case, a new edge/dimension is added to the InfoCube. During the data selection for the query, the data manager connects the InfoProvider and the master data table (u2018joinu2019) in order to fill the Query.
Navigational attribute is like any other master data attribute except that we can navigate (filter, drill down and selection) in reports on this characteristic.
Drilldown means after you executed the query , you want to see further detailed data with particular combination ,
in that case you navigate further or do restiction that is drilldown.
If you restict a navigational attribute in Query , then it behaves like a normal characteristic and not as a navigation attribute.

  • Issue when using Navigation attributes for filtering in BEX

    Hello,
We are encountering an issue when applying filter on Navigation attributes in BEx query built on top of a BW HANA Virtual Provider.
The interface is as below :
HANA Calculation View -> SAP BW 7.4 Virtual InfoCube -> Multiprovider -> BEx Query.
We have directly mapped the base Infoobject from HANA View to BW Virtual Provider and using this in BEx query free characteristics. We also have used the navigational attribute of this Infoobject in our Report variable screen as well as an Auth relevant object.
Eg if ZMATERIAL is the base infoobject and ZMATERIAL__ZXYZ navigational attribute is used in the report variable screen and as Authorization variable.
This is causing the query to fail.
The query also fails if I apply any filter values on any Navigational attribute with error message  :
"Termination message sent ERROR DBMAN (305): Error reading the data of InfoProvider"
Using the navigational attribute with authorization variable fails with below :
"Termination message sent ERROR DBMAN (099): Invalid query;Failed to find attribute ZMATERIAL__ZXYZ [...]"
Appreciate any inputs on this issue and how this can be fixed.
    Thanks,
    Tintu

    Hi Andrey,
    Thank you for your input.
Based on the OSS note , it says to import BW7.4 SP7. We are already on BW7.4 SP7
We get error "Termination message sent ERROR DBMAN (099): Invalid query;Failed to find attribute
ZMATERIAL__ZXYZ"  whenever we try to apply filters on any of the navigational attribute.
    Thanks,
    Tintu

  • Doubt on Navigational attribute

    Hi All,
Can we create variables above navigational attributes in bex reporting. Any pointers would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ashok

Sure you can, there is no difference to the handling of regular characteristics. Just try it.

  • Navigational attribute data not visible in BEx Report

    Hello All,
I am facing following problem in one of my BEx reports:
I am fetching data from an ODS. With other columns of ODS,  I have also to show few navigational attributes( which are master data of some info-object) . In report the corresponding data in navigational attributes is not visible for few records, although when I see the master data of this Info-object (whose navigational attributes I have to include), in  Adm. Wrkbench the data is visible. I wonder what step is missing.
Many Thanks for helping me out.
    Best Regards,
    Sumita

    Hi Roberto,
While trying to activate the Infoobject's master data (by right-click) I get the following message,
"Lock NOT set for: Loading master data attributes"
And the data is not activated.
Can you please suggest what needs to be done.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Bex Query's(Composite Provider) Navigational Attribute Error

    Hi All,
We have created a BEx query on top of a Composite Provider. In the Composite Provider, we have a few common Navigation Attributes in all Info Providers.
Whenever we tried to show a particular Navigational Attribute (G_TIC9030) in BEx query (RSRT), we will receive the error messages as below.
This problem doesn't occur if we created another test query on each Info Providers of Composite provider. All test queries are able to return result and are showing all the navigational attributes without any errors.
Any idea on how to fix this?
    Regards,
    Kang

As discussed Kang this looks like the problem described in OSS Note 2019244.
It's not unusual to find a few of these problems in testing.

  • Navigational attribute in selection screen gives no applicable data

    Hi Gurus
In the report i am using the navigational attribute in the selection screen.e.g Brand (attribute of material)
My problem is whenevr i enter value in the navigational attribute (brand)  in the selection screen and execute  its says no data found.
If i do not fill this parameter and fill only the parent attribute (material)  in the selection screen  , then i can see the results and from its properties  (drilling down )i can see the values of brand .
If the values of brand exist why via selection screen its not giving vales, However Via material i can drill down and see brand values.
I have done all the necessary steps to make this attribute as navigational.
On top of this i have this same navigation attributes as one of the characterisitc in the cube.
    Thanks
    DD

    Hello,
I've the same problem... for new nav. attributes for 0Material.
Settings for nav. attibutes in BEx Q.D. are OK.
    But in BEx Analyzer:
1- not display all values for this attributes. Some values are displayed, some don't.
I try display it with and without selection screen.  The result is the same.
2- I try to display (normal) attributes - not nav. In this case everything is OK.
But I've 2 columns: normal attribute for all values and nav. attribute only with some values...
    (the query is something like: 0Material + 0Material_NOTnav_attr + 0Material_NOTnav_attr)
    It isn't a normal...
I don't know... Maybe it's depend of the time?
I can't clear all master data for 0Material, because they're used in some cubes. I had old characteristic without nav. attr. but with master data. I added nav. attr. in 0Material and activated it. Next I load master data (full method). Then I added nav. attr. in infocube, activated it, delete and load data into the cube (Init + Delta).
If I display data for the cube in RSA1, I can see nav. attr. for all records. I can't see it in BEx Analyzer...
    Can U explain it?
    Thx,
    MSzN

  • Navigational Attribute Filter value selection not showing full name

    Hi Experts,
We are having Navigational Attribute TM Responsible. We have created variable in BEX for it. When we are searching for value selection for this in RSRT, its showing only last name and key part. But If I dont pass any values, and display the result its showing full name. Please find the screen shots.
Customer needs full name to be available for selection in filter in above picture 1.
Please suggest what needs to be done.
    Thanks,
    Govind

    Hi All,
The issue is resolved. Making display as Long text at Infoobject level and at Query display level was not working. Hence I tried to change the display at Multiprovider level as shown below. This fixed the issue.
Right click Navigational attribute -> Provider specific properties
Made the display as Long text.
    This setting resolved the problem.
    Thanks for help and replies.
    Thanks,

  • Navigational Attributes are not working in Excel

I am thinking what would be the problem?

    hi randy,
i guess u have some connection problem.
u can use tcode RSRT and RSRCACHE u can use option debug to check weather any problem occurs because of navg attr.
i consider there should be some bex problem.

  • How to include Navigational attribute in the selection screen

    Hello All,
Can any body please tell me how to include a navigational attribute in the selection screen in BEX?

    Let´s go step by step.
In your example, you mentioned the characteristic called 0MAT_PLANT.  Its navegational attributes are allocated in the same dimension the main characteristic belongs.  So 0MRP_CONTRL, as a navegational attr. must be allocated in the same dimension as 0MAT_PLANT.
    1) In query designer in Bex (left pane) find the dimension where 0MAT_PLANT is allocated.  Find the navegational attr. in the same dimension, 0MRP_CONTRL.  Pls verify you are looking to a navegational attribute, activate technical names and the name of the attr must be 0MAT_PLANT__0MRP_CONTRL.
    2) Below the attribut (still left pane) you will find a Variable icon (yellow).  If you see the "+" symbol, it means that at least one variable exists (standar or not).  Open it and check if the variable suits your requeriment to set it in selection screen.  If not, create a new one (let me know if you need help with this task).
    3) Once you have your variable for the navegational attribute, drag and drop it to the design area (row, column, filter).
    4) Verify the order you want this variable to appear from the menu bar: Query properties -> Sequence of Entry Variables.
    Hope this helps.  Leticia

  • Unable to add Navigational attribute in Qery

    Hi All,
Am a beginner in Bex queries. I need to add a Navigational Attribute, in a BEx Query.  I did the following:
    1.  Turned ON the Navigational attribute in the Infocube.
    2. As my query is on Multiprovider, i had mapped the specific field as well.
    3. In the query, the 'Attribute' folder is added to the particular charcteristic in the infoprovider panel. When i try to drag to the navigational attribute into the 'Free Characrteristics', its not working out.
Am not sure about the procedure for adding the Navigational attribute into the Query. please help me in resolving this.
    Thanks,
    Chitra.

    Hi Chitra,
Check if the navigational attribute is already there in Rows or filters area. it can't be in 2 places at a time.
First make sure the Attribute is navigational enabled at info object level.
Enable the object as navigational at IC level.
as you are using MP... you need to enable the navigational attribute in the MP and identify the object then you will be able to use the navigational attribute in the query.

  • Query on Navigational attribute of navigation attribute

    Hello,
we work on BW 7.0 but use still the 3.5 BEX. Is it possible to navigate
on a navigational attribute of a navigational attribute? If yes, is
this only possible in the the next version of BEX? Because in the
version 3.5 I didn't find a possibility to do that.
    Thanks.
    Regards, Lars.

    Hello Lars,
This isn't possible; you can also refer to below thread -

  • Selection of charateristic value by using a navigational attribute

    Hello all.
I'm working on BW 2004s with the integrated planning. I have this case: 0material has a navigational attribute - 0customer.
I have a variable on the navigational attribute (ocustomer) which prompts the user to select a customer. on the next step I would like to allow the user to forecast the values for the customer's relevant materials. this issue has a problem - since a BEx query acts as a filter - and if there's no suitable data in the cube - I won't be able to see the values in the rows so the user can perform planning.
Do any of you experts have a suggestion regarding a solution to that issue?
    Thanks,
    Tomer.

    Tomer,
As Andrew suggested what you would need is "Master Data" option as compared to "Posted Values" option.
    Hope this helps.

  • Variable on Navigational Attributes in ODS

    BW Experts,
I have a Navigational Attribute in my ODS. In  my query design, I do not get an option to build a variable for selection on this Navigational attribute. Is it a fact with ODS that Variable cannot be built on Nav Attributes?
    Thanks
    Ashwin

    hi Ashwin,
we have to logout and login again bex analyzer to reflect any changes on infoprovider, i guess you were opening bex and turn on ods navigation attribute and couldn't find it in bex query, then you logoff and login again and see the navigation attribute, you can have a try
    hope this helps.

  • #MULTIVALUE on ratios with navigation attributes

    BO edge 3.1 SP3
    SAP BW EHP4

    Hi Igno,
I agree that it still says that in the best practise (dated back in 2009!), but in my experience in the past years it doesn't work that well. Unless you tailor your BEX query one to one with a report that is... Not the intention of a universe i.m.h.o.
For standard aggregation keyfigures I always set the aggregation to sum. So I only use database delegation if I really need it because it would not be possible for WebI (for example counts like number of stores with sales).
Note that I also make sure that I retrieve data on the level that I need (by checking the number of rows retrieved for instance and comparing that with the number of lines in the report. So the database will do all of the aggregation it can do already!
So you do NOT get the sum a second time! You get it only once, only who handles the summing within the results is different, with database delegated, it is BW, with sum it is WebI. For a plain sum it is Webi and summing within the retrieved results can be handled by WebI perfectly fine (and will match with sums by BEX where you have them) !!!
Letting BW handle the aggregations means it will retrieve all the extra aggregation points it can find in the report, but only if it can!
In this particular case the attribute country of the customer is not a known aggregation level for BEX, so it cannot calculate it.
Also if you create webi based groupings of dimension objects, or even want to re-format one (like month) it does not work.
Furthermore, if you read my post correctly I do not mention "GROUP BY" but I do say grouping.
For totals you will always have a certain grouping/combination of dimensions (whether you call them dimension objects (in WebI) or characteristics (in BEX)). I state that to calculate an aggregation for that combination the BEX query needs to have knowledge about it. If it has not, it cannot calculate...
So I say it should be the preferred way to let WebI handle the aggregation,
unless it cannot do this correctly, not the other way around.
    Thanks,
    Marianne
