Navigational attributes-- transport

Hi All,
I want to make infoobject zzbam as a navigational attribute of 0vendor.Could anyone let me know can we see the cahnges after transporting the 0vendor to PRD.

Hi Manjula,
Yes, you can see the changes in 0Vendor after transporting, in transaction RSD1. But to make it navigational, you need also to select it in an InfoProvider. Otherwise, what you are doing is enabling it to be navigational.

Navigational Attribute Transported but not reflected.

Hi,
Couple of Navigational Attributes were transported from Dev to QA.
But its not reflecting in QA now.
In the Transport Log its giving the warning message message as,
Navigation attribute ZABCLOC_ZZLINETYPE1 is deleted (not in characteristic ZABCLOC)
Navigation attribute ZABCLOC_ZZABCLOC1 is deleted (not in characteristic ZABCLOC)
Please let me know, how to transport the required Navigational Attr from one system to another system

if the primary object is not active then u will face issues..
here as its quality u can try deleting the P table content of the Infoobject and then try activating that infoobject in the Quality system with the program.. some this like it starts with RSDG or RSVDIOBJ Activate.. u can try this in ur system...
and then try reimporting it with the overwrite mode.. this is will solve ur issue.

Navigational attributes are not visible after transport

hi,
i have created five new info objects and added these to 0custome as navigational attributes,then i have switched thes on as navigational attributes in 0sold_to info object.every thing is working fine in deveopment.
when i transport these into quality, for 0customer i am able to see these new info objects as navigational but in 0sold_to these new info objects are visible as display attributes.I want tehse to be as navigational attributes..
can any one tell me where have i gone wrong..

Request 1: Select the Necessary objects of Info Provider
Request 2: Select Data Flow before and Afterwards
if you practice this you will not miss any objects

Transports issue regarding navigational attribute

Hi,
I used to have some navigational attribues in somecubes and Multiprovider but as per the latest requirement from the customer again converted them as display attributes in masterdata so that automatically removed from cubes and multiprovider with out even our interventions as we know..
So assigned to transport request and transporting into further systems then we r getting error as
"Navigation attribute XYZ does not (actively) exist
Message no. R7748"
but when i do check of cube it does not give any error but when i am transporting it is again loooking for those navigational attributes in target system..
I am not sure why it is giving problem like this ...Just i am guessing is it because i did not remove navigational attribute flag first from cube instead of just master data directly ...but that should not be a problem as per my knowledge...
Can any experts reply to me asap if you come accross this kind of problem ....

Editted as I understand the solution now.
If you want to delete navigational attributes from a multi provider, cube and master data it needs to be done in the order:
- remove navigational attribute from MultiProvider
- remove navigational attribute from Cube
- set navigational attribute to be display attribute on InfoObject
If you don't follow this order e.g. just set navigational attribute to be a navigational attribute on master data then you get problem where every time you transport cube it says nav. attribute is inactive even though (as far as you can see) the nav. attribute does not exist.
btw, if you have dug yourself into a hole then you need to re-create the navigational attribute on the InfoObject and then add it back to the cube and multiprovider - transport this and then follow correct order.

Adding navigational attribute in Info Object.

My staging layer is as below.
Data source1-> DSO1
Data source2-> DSO1
Data Source 3->DSO1
From DSO1 : there are 3 Transformaitons.
DSO -> Info Object “ABC”
DSO1- > DSO2.
DSO1 -> DSO3.
That means. DSO1 , is supplying data to ABC info object and 2 more DSO's.
I need to Enhance Data Source 1, with Field “X” add it in DSO and then add that field in Navigational attribute of IO “ABC.
I dont need this field “X” in DSO2 and DSO3.
Question :
1) I want to understand its effect on Transformations if I add field in DSO1.
Data source2-> DSO1
Data Source 3->DSO1.
DSO1- > DSO2.
DSO1 -> DSO3.
2) Will all these be inactive ( assuming yes, )
     a. Do I need to retransport all the transformations.
     b.And if Yes, I assume we need to transport DTP’s too.
3) Does adding of navigational attribute affect any other Cubes and DSO or transformations ,containing the main Info Objects. "ABC"..
Note: This new navigational attribute is not used in any of the old cubes. it wil be used in new design.

3. No, but info ABC object transformations may go inactive.

When you turn on Navigation Attributes , the additional fields are included into the X and Y tables and hence especially when you transport these changes to an IOBJ which is very large - you will need to make sure you have enough undo table space etc..
The same this applies to removing Nav Attributes... the X and Y tables will get rebuilt and if the IOBJ is very big - I would recommend taking additional precautions like monitoring unto tablespaces etc when transporting the same.
Also as an additional step - run the attribute change run once the transport is done - you need not reload any master data.

Navigation Attributes not populated

Hi ,
I am stuck in a situation with the Master data Navigational Attributes.
I created a "ZMAT" master data infoobject which has the Navigation attributes like "Product Platform". Everything has worked in quality and development but after transporting it to
production the navigational attribute is not being populated in the listcube.
I loaded the data in the master data infoobject and it gets loaded successfully.
I can even see the data for the attribute in the ZMAT master data "manage master data" after the load but when I try to select the navigational attribute in the listcube it doesn't populate anything for that attribute .
I have trying moving the transports thrice from dev to prod but no respite.
Request someone to look and provide a resolution.
Your help will be highly appreciated and points awarded as well
It is worth mentioning that the master data IO is a copy of Material and customized.

Hello,
Make sure you are checking the same 'ZMAT' Keys in both Transaction (Cube) and Master data. Also check whether there is some compounding charateristics to ZMAT. In that case, consider compounded characteristics as well as a Key while comparing the Transaction and master data.

Unable to view Navigational Attributes in ODS

Dear All,
We have enabled Material Group as Navigational Attribute in Material. Material has been included in ODS as Key Field. In ODS also Material Group is switched as Nav Attr. Now when I check in Reports I am getting # for all Material Groups. I checked in ListCube. Here also I am getting # values.
I did master Data Activation and also did Attribute change run. Where as I am able to view values for Material Group in Material Master Data.

Hi Ravi,
You could check if the X/Y table of material group are correct.
Do RSRV combination check on the info object material and material group. Run all the tests...espeially the consistency of X and Y tables..
Also, you could probably check if this is some authorization issue... that you dont have authorization to view contents of material group...(may not be the case, but worth a check )...
Sounds strange though, if all is ok and u still dont see material group. (and sometimes it cud be a refresh issue as lalit suggests....., if it has to get wierd )

Yes after making that particular attribute as a navigational attribute I loaded data in master data tables.

Navigational attribute in Cube

Hi Gurus,
I want to understand one point before I am going to perform a small enhancement.
I need to set a navigational attribute in a cube(before it is not checked on "I/O") meaning make this navigational attribute behave as a char., but this cube contains data already, my question is :
can I make this change ? if yes any other additional effort?

Hi Ryan,
The attr needs to be marked and activated as Navigational Attr in the parent char first. Then you can mark it as nav attr in the cube (which contains the parent char). Does not matter if the cube contains data...you can do this activity in a cube with data. Remember to reactivate the cube's update rules and any multiproviders that it is a part of after you make this change.

Adding navigational attributes to a cube

We have upgraded to BW 7.3. Previously when we added navigational attributes to a cube we need to activate the update rules from the ods but now it appears that we don't need to do that anymore. Is this the expected behavaior? We are using the 3.5 update rules.

If you are using 3.5, after selecting nav attr in the cube, the cube structure gets deactivated. The dependent update rules also gets deactivated. You will be forced to activate all again.
In BW 7.3, SAP would have given privilege to add without activation. It is good for us. So nothing to worry.

Code needed for a Navigational Attribute.

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to update records on a Navigational Attribute of an Infobject in an DSO.
DSO A has key figures Region & 0calmonth. Data fields Price, Quantity, Place & Name. DSO B has key figures 0customer & Data Filelds Plant, Material etc. DSO B Plant's Navigational Attribute is Region /BI0/OIREGION.
Now, I want to link the Region of DSO A with the Navigational Attribute of DSO B with Region /BI0/OIREGION and update the values of DSO A in DSO B.
For this I want to write a code in the END ROUTINE. Please provide me with the code.

BI-IP / Formula navigation attribute

Hi,
i have the following problem and hope somebody can help.
I have a BI-IP planing function (Fox-Formula) which simply copies the keyfigure Amount from the characteristic company (#) to the characteristic company (8703).
{ KI_LCCUR, 8703 } = { KI_LCCUR,# }.
this characterisic has also a navigation attribute headquarter.
when i run the function the following error message appears:
8703,# is invalid: Valid is 8703,DE. Characteristic "ZCompany"
which means to me the master data for charactersitic company 8703 and its attribute Headquarter # is not valid, which is true. But what do i need to do in order to use the right combination 8703,DE?
Is there a way to make fox formula to find the right value for the attribute? is there a way use navigation attribute in fox formule?

Hi,
The problem can be due to the mapping in the cube.
Please reactivate your cube.
If you are using a multi-provider, then please check that the navigational attribute is defined in all the cubes in mulitprovider.

How to show data for navigational attribute in a report ?

Hello all,
I have a hierarchy info object A which has a navigational attribute(hierarchy) B. I need to filter on B for a particular node.
I have added A in the filter column and selected B as the attribute. How can i restrict B for a particular hierarchy node ?

Hi,
Have you defined 'B' as Navigational attribute at InfoProvider Level?
You can Restrict B for a Particular Value once it is defined as Navigational attribute at InfoProvder level.
Go to InfoProvider maintaince>click 'nav attributes'>enable it (check the box).activate the InfoProvider.
Then you can see it under same dimension where 'A' is assigned and its name would be A_B.
Drag and drop in to rows and restrict(include/exclude) with required value.

Virtual infoprovider with services - Navigational attributes

Hi all,
I have a basic cube in BI system- X , and created a virtual cube in another BI system Y with services to read data from basic cube of BI system X . In BI system Y we built a report on virtual cube. This report (on virtual cube in BI system Y) is using a characteristics say Product group ( which is a navigational attributes of prodect in BI system X).
DataFlow is as under:
Basic cube in BI system X:
Product
Year
Amount
and Product group is switched on as navigational attributes in this basic cube.
Virtual cube in BI system Y:
Product group
Year
Amount
Report in BI system Y:
Product group in rows
Amount in column
This report is not working.
If I do the the following changes as follows then it works:
1.Use Product instead of product group in report
2. Switch off navigational attributes in basic cube.
We are in BW 3.5 and navigational attributes option is ticked on for virtual cube.
In summary, If I do not use navigational attributes in report and switch off navigational attributes from basic cube then report shows data.
Could you please help me to figure out the issue.

Yes, I tried adding product in virtual cube as well but it did not work. Secondly, we do not want to add product in virtual cube because of data aggregation.
Most strange thing is that, once we switch on any navigational attributes on basic cube, function module stop working (paasing any data to virtual cube report). report says no appropriate data found. We are using sap standard function module "RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ_RFC". I debegged this code and no data in internal tables.
If we switch off all navigational attributes from basic/source cube this function module provide data to internal tables in code.
Why function module is behaving like that.
You guys experience/support/any clue will be appreciated highly.
