Navigon Mobile Navigator GPS Application

Hey guys,
Navigon released their Mobile Navigator software for Europe (they beat TomTom!):
http://www.navigon.com/site/int/en/products/navigation_software/iphone
I know this is mainly used for the car -- but I'm wondering if it also works if you are just walking on the street with the iPhone? I'd love to use this for international trips to Europe where we are just walking within the city as opposed to being in a car (I wonder if there is a "by walking" vs. "by car" mode like the built-in Maps application has!)

No. "When airplane mode is on, no phone, radio, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth signals are emitted from iPhone and GPS reception is turned off, disabling many of iPhone’s features."

    Hello Friends,
    Just need to know if exist a GPS application for Nokia N80ie. Please let me know, where I can find one.

    You can use Nokia Maps (download the version for the N73 http://europe.nokia.com/A4509291 and Nokia Map Loader from the same page) Just remember to start Nokia Maps on the phone after install before you use Map Loader. It needs to create some folder.
    This will give you access to maps but to get GPS you will need to purchase a GPS receiver such as Nokia LD3W (connects via Bluetooth).
    If you want voice navigation you have to pay for that but you can also try it for free for 3 days. You can access this from the options menu in Nokia Maps.

    For my N82 I am looking for an alternative to Nokia Maps.
    - Using Google Maps, is it possible do download the map data for a country or continent to the pnone's memory card in advance so that they do not have to be loaded on the fly over the expensive GSM connection?
    - Has anybody tried Navigon's Mobile Navigator on an N82? How well does it work?
    - Are ther any other 'recommendable' map programs for the N82?

  • SSO - session time out while navigating across applications

    Hi,
    Problem statement
    Handling session time out while navigating across applications involving SSO
    Current approach
    Application 1
    1. Create session1.
    2. URL rewrite the sesssion ID1 into the link refering to App2.
    Application 2
    1. Create session2
    2. Get the session Id of App1.
    3. send the session ID of App1 in the header
    4. Invalidate the session2
    Application 1
    Get the ID from request and invoke getSession.
    I'm having a very large session timeout at App1.
    Is there a better approach. Ex: Having global session which is shared across multiple
    webapplications.

  • Creating mobile web dynpro application which customized theme

    Hi guys,
    I have created a mobile web dynpro application and a theme with Theme Editor. Then I have appended this theme with the sap-cssurl parameter to my application.
    <b>my_application? sap-cssurl=http://host:port/webdynpro/resources/sap.com/tcwddispwda/global/SSR/themes/MyTheme</b>
    It works well in my first testing on my laptop.
    In order to test it on my mobile device I have also appended sap-wd-client parameter to my application. Now my URL looks like
    <b>my_application? sap-cssurl=http://host:port/webdynpro/resources/sap.com/tcwddispwda/global/SSR/themes/MyTheme&sap-wd-client=PieClient</b>
    It doesn’t work. My application layout looks as if I don’t use the theme. Did somebody have the same problem and can help me by finding a solution.
    Thanks for your answers.
    Marita

    Hi Marita,
    Mobile Web Dynpro supports several handheld mobile devices. I guess yours is a Pocket PC. Except the newest Pocket PC 2003, all the other versions don't have CSS support. Therefore the current Pocket PC client "PieClient" of Web Dynpro lacks the ability for customized themes. On the other hand, themes are supported for more advanced devices, such as Nokia Communicator 9500/9300.

  • IPod and BMW with Navigation/GPS/TV kit

    Hi there,
    On my old BMW, I was pretty happy with the ipodyourbmw kit. However, my new BMW has a GPS navigation kit which means that the genuine ipodyourbmw kit does not work with it.
    My options thus far (and the BMW dealer has been poor in giving advice) is
    -using an FM broadcaster
    -using a cassette tape adaptor
    -putting in a basic auxiliary connection
    What I dislike about the AUX connection is that it does not charge the iPod, and I can not change between playlists without opening my glove compartment and manually changing playlists on the iPod itself which I refuse to do.
    Is anyone aware of a third party solution that will work on a BMW X5 with GPS navigation kit that does the following:
    -change playlists through the stereo or steering wheel
    -charges the iPod battery
    -offers high quality sound
    I know that BMW are releasing a new iPod kit which will offer complete playlist functionality, but its only for the new 1 series and 3 series.
    iPod Mini 6gb   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   BMW X5 3.0d (2005) with Navigation/GPS kit

    you can't do it simply with an av cable but you could buy a third party product such as this:
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipod/review/griffin-tunecenter-home-media-cente r-for-ipod-without-wi-fi/
    or this one:
    i recommend this one
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipod/review/dlo-homedock-deluxe-2007-entertainm ent-dock-with-on-tv-navigation-for-ipod/
    these can allow you to navigate your ipod on a television.

  • MAS doesn't recognize custom Mobile Sales UI application for generation

    Hello,
    I've upgraded a Mobile Sales development workstation from CRM5.0 SP08 to CRM5.0 SP13.
    When I try to generate the user interface in MAS I observe the following:
    In MAS I created a new project (via menu entry "Build->Generator settings.." - project name "MON", dll name "MON", UI application "Y_MobileSales").
    But when I check the project dependencies in the visual studio project (menu Project->Project Dependencies..) there is no MON-project available (only the visual studio project itsefl and sfabol). Thus, I can't generate the dll-file, either (I've closed and re-opened MAS multiple times without any effect).
    When I change the UI project to standard values ( UI application "MobileSales"), the entry MON is available within the project dependencies.
    It seems that MSA doesn't recognize the custom UI appliction Y_MobileSales. Everything worked fine within SP08, though.
    Any ideas? Best regards
    Herwig

    Hi Shankar,
    sorry, that I couldn't reply earlier. But after implementing the note we've still the same problem. The MAS doesn't take a custom Mobile Sales UI application into account for generation.
    The option "ENABLEFORCEGEN" is be resettet to "False" after opening the Mobile Application Studio.
    In the Configuration Manager I can't see the UI-Project, only the "sfabol" project appears there. Thus, I can't build the UI solution.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks and best regards
    Herwig

  • [iPhone] Navigation-Based Application template / UITableViewController

    I'm new to development for both Mac OS X, the iPhone and Objective-C, but do have decent experience with C/C++. I'm trying to put together a series of simple iPhone applications to help expand my knowledge and wanted to ask whether or not I've got the right idea regarding my next test application.
    I've used the Navigation-Based Application template to create an application that loads a Table View and populates it with a few items. I'm considering this Table View as the root menu for my application. Selecting an item from the Root Menu will take the user to a sub-menu (that is specific to the Root Menu selection). Selection of an item from the sub-menu will take the user to a view that'll let them perform a particular action.
    I'm wondering the best way to go about structuring this kind of application? Should I create a controller class and accompanying xib for each of my sub-menus? If this is the case, would I have to use the didSelectRowAtIndexPath method to detect which menu item has been selected in order to determine which sub-menu view to push?
    I'm happy to get my hands dirty and experiment (which is why I'm taking these baby steps), but I'm hoping someone with a little experience can come along and shed some light on how a relative professional would go about doing something like this?

    Sounds like a good approach. You can use initWithNibName to load a view from a nib / xib. You can also re-use the same xib for different instances of the submenu view by parametrizing initWithNibName and do any customization to the controls in viewDidLoad.

  • Jdeveloper set up for MSCA(Mobile supply chain application) custom page

    Hi Everyone,
    Can anyone provide me with the jdeveloper setup instructions to write class files for MSCA Application. I was trying to redo the helloworld tutorial from anil passi.com(http://oracle.anilpassi.com/hello-world-mobile-supply-chain-application-framework-6.html). But when i write import statements as below, jdeveloper does't recognize these import statements and throws error when i try to compile.
    import oracle.apps.inv.utilities.server.UtilFns;
    import oracle.apps.mwa.beans.FieldBean;
    import oracle.apps.mwa.container.Session;
    import oracle.apps.mwa.eventmodel.AbortHandlerException;
    import oracle.apps.mwa.eventmodel.DefaultOnlyHandlerException;
    import oracle.apps.mwa.eventmodel.InterruptedHandlerException;
    import oracle.apps.mwa.eventmodel.MWAEvent;
    import oracle.apps.mwa.eventmodel.MWAFieldListener;
    The steps I did in jdeveloper are:
    1) Created OA Workspace
    2) Create project under it with a package structure xxx.oracle.apps.inv.customfunction.server
    3) Right click on project and selected New Java Class file
    4) Wrote code in the java class file.
    So what exactly i should do so that i can compile my code in jdeveloper without errors. ( I know that we have to deploy these files to apps instance inorder to execute. I just want to compile it in jdeveloper).
    Thanks
    Sunny

    my issue is resolved. i'm getting this problem when i add just java class file to the project. but when i also add the business componets and page component and generate controller class to the project , i can see that import is recognized by the java class file. So i guess i have to delete all the unwanted business components that i have created at the end.
    Thanks

    I was wondering what everything I needed to get started developing GPS applications for blackberrys.
    It interest me a lot.. and I know C# and some VB. I am wanting to learn so getting a book would be good but just wondering what developer tools I needed to develop this kind of application. I currently have Visual Studio 2008 and I have seen a plug in for it.

If .NET, then have fun with Visual Studio and find yourself a .NET forum because this isn't it. If you're going to want to do this with Java, then go to the Sun tutorial site, find the getting started section, and start following those directions. Don't worry about the GPS and blackberry stuff for a good 3-12 months, depending on your current knowledge and abilities.

  • Gps application

    Hello,
    i have an old blackberry pearl 8100, working in GPRS, and i would like to know if i can have a gps application on it, and if it is yes, where i can get it, and how much it would cost me.
    thank you very much

    Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
    As far as I can tell, that model does not include a physical GPS radio; no amount of software can overcome a hardware limitation of that nature.
    Good luck!

  • GPS application with static jpg map

    Hi all,
    I am writing an gps application with a static map image (jpg) of a smal area. I would like to use this image to display users position within the area when he is in this area and let users zoom in-out.  I also need to specify specific positions within the area of coverage. How can I specify it.
     Is there a standard way (preferably with example) of specifying the coordinates that the image covers and positions and how to handle it?
    is there a better or other standard way of displaying map in the application?
    will appreciate.
    regards,
    rnv

    The only thing you really need is a translation function to convert geographical coordinates and pixel coordinated. Assuming your map is covering a smll area you should be able to treat the earth as though it's flat to keep the equations simple.  I will also assume the edges of your map are parallete to the lines of latitude and longitude. You will need to find the latitudes and longitudes that the 4 corners of the map respresent.
    Let's assume you've got your image and you've found the four coordinates to which your cordners map. I'll name these coordinates A, B, D, and D.
    A          B
      +------+
      |      |
      |      |
      +------+
    C         D
    Under this system for small maps you can use linear interpolation to map real coordinates to pixel coordinates on your map.  Let's say the coordinates of the 4 points are as follows (I don't know what actually falls in these coordinates in real life, they have been chosen arbitrarily).
    A = (30N, 110W)
    B = (30N, 120W)
    C = (20N, 110W)
    D = (20N, 120W)
    Let's also say your image is 1000 pixels wide by 500 pixels high. If your user's real coordinates were (24N, 117W) then the pixel coordinates on the map could be found as follows.
    X = ((1000)/(110-120)) * (110-117) = 700
    Y = ((500) / (20N-30N)) * (20N-24N) = 200
    So the point on the above map that is representational of the user's position would be (700, 200).  Since you would allow the user to zoom (and presumably pan) you would also have adjust these pixel coordinates so that they go through the same transformation that the map does.

  • Test Pocket PC or Handheld ( windows mobile 5.0) application

    Is there any tools that can be used to automate the testing of Pocket PCs or Handheld ( windows mobile 5.0) application?
    Message was edited by: DHIMANT AMIN

    Dhimant Amin,
    I have not done any Pocket PC testing so I am not sure how good any of the tools out there are but a few years back I did some WAP testing and the key is to have an emulator that something can drive. As I was testing WAP I was able to use e-Tester with the proxy on to gather the http requests, but depending on what your application under test does this may not be an option.
    If that is the case there are a number of test suites out their for PocketPC and other devices. From what I have seen these fall into two categories: a device emulation like what i used, and some tools that actually drive the physical device connected to the machine via Bluetooth or USB. I can see good and bad points of both.I think I would use an emulator or at least stick with a particular device early on in the testing phase to focus on testing the core functionality you are developing. Then the physical device tester may be useful for compatibility testing if the product allows the same script to be played back for different devices.
