• Navteq sample data

hi,
I have problems during the navteq sampla data import (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/mapviewer/htdocs/navsoft.html). I'm follwing exactly the instructions from the readme file.
Import: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Thursday, 25 September, 2008 10:35:28

Master table "SYSTEM"."SYS_IMPORT_FULL_01" successfully loaded/unloaded
Starting "SYSTEM"."SYS_IMPORT_FULL_01": system/********@ORCL REMAP_SCHEMA=world_sample:world_sample dumpfile=world_sample.dmp directory=sample_world_data_dir

After the last log message the systems hangs with 50% cpu time and nothing happens. What could be the problem? Only the table M_ADMIN_AREA4 contains the 118201 rows.

Hi, I followed the instructions from the readme file:
1. Create a work directory on your machine. Change directory to your work
directory and download the world_sample.zip file into it. Unzip the
world_sample.zip file:
C:\> mkdir world_sample
C:\> cd world_sample
C:\world_sample> unzip world_sample.zip
2. In your work directory, open a Sqlplus session and connect as the SYSTEM
user. Create a user for the World Sample data (if you have not previously
done so):
C:\world_sample> sqlplus SYSTEM/password_for_system
SQL> CREATE USER world_sample IDENTIFIED BY world_sample;
SQL> GRANT CONNECT, RESOURCE TO world_sample;
3. This step loads the World Sample data into the specified user, and creates
the metadata required to view the sample data as a Map in MapViewer. Before
you begin, make a note of the full directory path of your work directory,
since you will be prompted for it. You will also be prompted for the user
(created in step 2), and the SYSTEM-user password. This step assumes that
you are already connected as the SYSTEM user, and that you are in your work
directory. To begin, run the load_sample_data.sql script in your Sqlplus
session. Exit the Sqlplus session after the script has successfully
concluded:
SQL> @load_sample_data.sql
Enter value for directory_name: C:\world_sample
Enter value for user_name: world_sample
Password: password_for_system
SQL> exit;
In step 2 I created a user dedicated tablespace. The same problem.
Regards Arnd.

• Sample Data Thread

Hi,
I wanted to post an update on the thread regarding Unifier Sample Data but it has been locked.
We got notice a few weeks ago that sample data was available, we downloaded a copy of this and upon following the instructions I found so many problems that we requested that it be removed from the Primavera Px portal which was done within a matter of hours.
FYI the import would fail with wrong tablespace names and wrong oracle user accounts. When i corrected for those problems the import would kill any P6 data in the same database and then reset the oracle 'sys' password to one different to what they tell you to use when installing Oracle DB.
Icing on the cake was that most of the documented Unifier logins did not work rendering the database useless.
We are still waiting for them to re-issue this sample data when it has undergone some quality assurance.
I'll update this post for everyone when it has been re-released (and tested so I can let you know if there are any pitfalls to importing it)
Regards
Alex

Hi All,
New sample data has been made available for those with access to the Primavera Px portal.
It is Unifier 9.13 sample data.
I hope to get an import done over the next few days and will give an update as to any issues experienced with the import. First glance at the instruction set they have implemented some changes so i'm hoping it will be smoother than the 9.12 sample data.
Regards
Alex

There is a lot of conflicting and/or otherwise terrible info being posted as workarounds to getting the ae cs3 801 and 802 update to actually install. I have read everything from reinstalling the entire creative suite, to writing a custom script that disables the app running list in the config.xml. Hahaha what?! Tech support seems to need a week off...
Ok here's how to get it to install:
#1: go here and delete everything in it--> **user>appdata>local>temp>patcher** (this is in Vista...xp users will get there via c:\docs and settings...)
#2: install the update (it will fail
#3: go to **user>appdata>local>temp>patcher** again and you will see 2 new folders named PATCHER[some number here; ex: Patcher470]. Look in these for a folder named INSTALLER. Once you find it, double click on:
PatcherApplication
Voila- ae cs3 will now update to 8.0.2.
It's as easy as that.

Thanks!

log out of itunes store in settings, wait 10 minutes, then log back in. your storage should go back to what it should have been all along. there is an itunes media caching bug / storage leak in ios 8 (all versions so far), and apple for some reason has decided it isn't worth fixing.

• Sun Java 3D looking glass now available - Package ?

Hi,
justread the following:
https://lg3d-core.dev.java.net/lg3ddevelopersguide.html
Project Looking Glass Open Source
Sun Microsystems is contributing Project Looking Glass, based on Java(tm) technology, to the open source community. Project Looking Glass is an exploration project to bring innovative 3D features to the desktop environment. The desktop interface will offer an intuitive, new 3D environment to interact with desktop applications featuring window transparency, rotation, zoom, multiple desktop workspaces and miniaturization.Project Looking Glass offers a platform to realize far richer and more entertaining user experience for existing and new applications in 2D or 3D. The technology enables developers to build highly visual 3D desktops and applications that will run on Linux systems such as Sun's Java Desktop System. The Solaris(tm) environment will be supported in near future.
What does this mean to you?
If you're a software developer, please go to http://enews.sun.com/CTServlet?id=63058 … 8531213971 and download this early version of the code and join the community in developing the 3D desktop.
Interested in using the Project Looking Glass? The project is in very early stages and a commercial version is not available yet. Please go to http://enews.sun.com/CTServlet?id=63058 … 8531213990 to keep up to date on our progress.
Why Open Source?
Project Looking Glass is in its infancy, and we'd like to explore lots of ideas and possibilities. We're releasing the Project Looking Glass code to the whole community to explore every aspect of the technology rather than restricting access to a privileged few. We believe this open development is an excellent model to pursue this exciting and vast opportunity. So, your involvement is eagerly anticipated. We believe new dimension of developer innovation by making Sun's cutting edge technology available at Sun's 3D Desktop Technology Open Source Project on java.net.
We have been working for several months on cleaning the software up, providing basic features and functionality key to 3D window management. A key focus was looking at the existing 2D desktop applications, ensuring minimal compatibility and performance problems. The next step is to look what else we can do to foster real world 3D interactivity. We decided to open source this at a very early stage to ensure that we got good feedback from the community.
What's in the Open Source Project?
The following features are now available in the Project Looking Glass open source release:
3D Window Manager Platform - Java 3D based highly scalable 3D platform with client-server model support.
3D Window Manager and Application Development API - Java API to develop new 3D desktop applications and 3D desktop Window Manager features.
Native Application Integration Module - Allows developers to run conventional X11 applications in the 3D environment.
Sample 3D Window Manager - provides a simple sample implementation for testing and demonstration purposes
3D Environment Lite - Enables developers to run a simplified 3D environment as an application on a Java 3D enabled platform including Linux and Solaris environments. This serves as a development tool to test implementations.
This is all available at: http://enews.sun.com/CTServlet?id=63058 … 8531213971
What's the licensing model?
There are three license choices for developers interested in creating applications using Project Looking Glass.
For developers who are interested in reviewing, revising, and redistributing the source code as part of their own application, Project Looking Glass has been submitted as an Open Source project on java.net under the GNU Public License, or GPL.
For developers who are interested in developing an application on top of the existing Project Looking Glass platform without reviewing and/or altering the code base, there is a binary version of the current state of the project available for download under a traditional Binary Code License. This is also available on java.net.
Finally, for developers or organizations interested in other uses or revising the source code but wish to keep their implementation and related application proprietary, please contact Sun at [email protected].

• EPM 11.1.2.2: Load sample data

I have installed EPM 11.1.2.2 and now I'm trying to load the sample data. I could use help locating instructions that will help with this. While earlier versions of epm documentation seemed to have instructions for loading the sample data, I have yet to find it for 11.1.2.2. Perhaps the earlier versions' steps are supposed to work on this version as well. So I read it. It says to initialize the app then in EAS right click on a consol icon where yuo have the option to load data. Unfortunately, I am using EPMA and I saw no option to initialize when I created the app. In addition, EAS doesnt have the console icon and right clicking on the application doesnt do anything. In short, prior documentation hasnt helped so far. I did find the documentation for EPM 11.1.2.2 but I have yet to locate within it the the instructions for loading the sample application and data. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I considered your comment about the app already existing but if this were true, I think the database would exist in EAS but it doesn't.
I've also deleted all applications, even re-installed the essbase components including the database so it would all be fresh, and then tried to create a new one but still no initialization option is available. At this point, I'm assuming there is something wrong with my installation. Any suggestion on how to proceed would be appreciated.
I've noticed that I dont have the create classic application option in my menu, only the transform from classic to epma option. I also can't navigate to http://<machinename>:8300/HyperionPlanning/AppWizard.jsp. When I noticed these things, I did as John suggested in another post and reselected the web server. This didnt make a difference so I redeployed apps AND selected the web server. Still not seeing it in the menu.

• Sample data for oracle 10.1.0.4

Hi,
On the companion cd samplel data are avialable for oracle 10g 10.1.0.2.
I've upgraded the database to 10.1.0.4. Setup fails now.
Two questions: can I install in a new oracle home?
Are sample data available for 10.1.0.4?
(I'm only interested in the odm sample data)
Thanks in advance for any reaction.
Leo

For the first question, you cannot install the companion CD to a new oracle home which is different from the database home.
Second, sample programs are in companion CD which is shipped with 10.1.0.2 base release. For a patch release, Oracle does not ship a companion CD. You can go to $ORACLE_HOME/demo directory to check whether you have installed any sample programs previously.
If the database was upgraded from a 9.2.0.X release, you may want to upgrade it to 10.1.0.2 release first and install the companion CD at 10.1.0.2 level. You can upgrade it to 10.1.0.4 afterwards.

• ANN: MEI Portico Version 2.0 for Adobe Digital Publishing Suite Now Available

Jenkintown, PA (November 28, 2012) — Managing Editor Inc. (MEI) today announced MEI Portico™ version 2.0, the latest in the premier Adobe® development partner's lineup of solutions for publishers. The new version of MEI's custom storefront software for tablets was built to empower Adobe Digital Publishing Suite™ customers and is now available for purchase.
MEI Portico lets publishers create custom branded UIs for their mobile and tablet apps on Apple, Google Android, and Amazon Kindle Fire platforms. Custom storefronts enable multiple gateways for showcasing user-targeted tablet content within the app. App administrators can enable search capabilities and organize their DPS folios as they see fit, so that navigation is easy and readers can effortlessly find the issues they want or are entitled to. Portico allows publishers to override in-app purchases for authenticated subscribers, and enables restricted distribution capabilities for corporate and educational institutions using Adobe DPS as part of their digital communications strategy.
MEI Portico 2.0 introduces custom canvases to the original Portico toolbox. Rather than having to rely on templates for their storefront’s landing view, designers can now create their own HTML designs to incorporate into an MEI Portico-driven interface. Using web design skills, designers have full control over every aspect of their app’s look and feel — from storefront layout to images, login pages to RSS or social media feeds, subscriber views to featured folios. And because administrators can launch canvases at a moment’s notice, implementing new features into your app can be completed without a time consuming app update.
"Custom canvases mean that DPS apps can take advantage of Portico’s robust feature set without compromising their brand’s look and feel," said Brett Kizner, MEI's director of new product marketing. "Portico 2.0 has delivered greater flexibility with the ability for our customers to design their own app experience on their app landing page."

I'm not sure that answers the question Candice.
I'm in the same situation. I was up trying to get on the Verizon page at 11:55, kept getting the ECPD error. When finally got through, the Silver Iphone Plus 64 showed arrival of 9-19. At every step of the process, it seemed that I was ordering a phone that would arrive on day1. At no point did it say this was an estimate. At no point did it say it might change. In a big yellow box, it said "9-19". Ordered it, then got confirmation email stating it should arrive at 9-19. Seems like all should be good, right? Order site said 9-19, I've got a confirmation email saying 9-19, done and done.
Then I check the website, and suddenly it changed to 10-14?!?!?!? I feel like this was a bait and switch. I was able to pickup an iphone5 in a local store on launch day, and would not have locked myself into a preorder through Verizon if I had known this would happen!
So, that leads back to the original questions. Lets assume I walk into a Verizon store on 9-19, and there is an available iphone6 plus just sitting there, can I either get that phone as fulfillment of my pre-order. Or, cancel my pre-order and buy that phone right then and there?

PS: It seems there are many people you misled this way. For every person who takes the time to post on this site, there are going to be many many more who are silently ****** off.

• Contained Database Users are now available in Azure SQL Database Update preview

Contained Database Users should be of particular help for people migrating to Azure SQL Database. At the moment, this is a preview release but you can start testing. Here is the announcement of the
preview with links to more information.
New SQL Database public preview with new Standard-tier performance level
Previously announced in November 2014 and now available for customers to try, the
new
public preview of SQL Database improves the compatibility of SQL Server applications for Azure SQL Database. Details of this preview are available on the
SQL
Database documentation webpage, including the following key enhancements: easier management of large databases to support heavier workloads with parallel queries
and online indexing, support for programmability functions like CLR and XML index to support more robust application design, improved monitoring and troubleshooting with XEvents and 100 new Dynamic Management Views (DMV), and more performance in the Premium
tier.
To try this preview, please sign up via the Preview
features webpage. Only SQL Database servers with a mix of one or more Basic, Standard, or Premium (not Web or Business) databases are compatible and eligible to
upgrade to the preview. Please note that any move of an existing Basic, Standard, or Premium database into this preview is irreversible; we recommend that you create a database copy or leverage test databases on any server enrolled in this preview.
A new Standard-tier performance level, S3, is also available in this preview which gives you more pricing flexibility between Standard and Premium. S3 will deliver 100 Database Throughput Units (DTU) and all the features available in the Standard tier. Please
note that S3 will appear on your bill as a multiple of S2 until further notice.
For more information, please visit the SQL
Database webpage and the
Microsoft
Azure Blog. For a comprehensive look at pricing, please visit the
SQL
Database pricing webpage.
