NB100-12A: How to recover without a disk?

I have had my NB100 for nearly a year now and all was fine. I recently got a virus that no matter what Anti-virus I used I could not get rid of. Yesterday my notebook stopped booting into windows altogether. It will not even boot into safe mode.
I would like to do a full system recovery however I am currently travelling around the U.S and I left my recovery CD in Ireland.
So my question is Can I recover my system using a recovery partition on the HDD or is there a way to download the recovery software, copy it onto a usb key, and boot from there?
Any help is greatly appriciated, Thanks

Hi
Im not sure if this is possible on you NB100.
Usually the HDD recovery could be started pressing F8 button (while powering on)
There you should see the option Repair my Computer. Choose this and then you should see Toshiba HDD recovery.
But note; this is procedure for common notebooks equipped with HDD recovery Im not quite sure if your NB100 support this!

  • Satellite L550D-13V - How to recover without recovery disks?

    Hi together,
I got a big problem. Win 7 Home Premium 64 BIT crashed on my satellite L550D-13V.
I tried to repair but it doesn't work. So I decided to recover via HDD Utility.
Everything seems to be okay but in the end the tool said that errors occured. I tried to recover again but the process aborted with bluescreen "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" this time.
After reboot system told me that no bootmgr is available. I tried to boot by using recovery disk but it also seems to be faulty because the system cannot not boot from the disks.
And there's my problem. I am unable to boot / recover now. Volume D seems to be okay - the HDD utility files are still available but I cannot create new recovery disks and it is not possible to boot into HDD utility tool.
    Do you have any ideas?
Many thanks in advance and regards
    Danny

    Hi
    The story is strange
Im wondering why you are not able to boot from the Recovery disk?
Did you use the created recovery disk in the past or did you try this disk for the first time?
However, regarding the error message: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
I googled for that and it seems that this could be related to memory fault.
Possibly one of the modules malfunctions.
Of course this is just an personal opinion
If an HDD folder is available on your HDD, then there is a small chance to get the HDD recovery to work. Here a interesting thread:

  • How to install without the disk deskjet 2512

Hello I have recently moved and took printer but not computer.  How can I install the printer without the disk.

    Hi bill440cars,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I understand that you would like to install your Deskjet 2512 and need the drivers.
I have included the link to the driver download page for your printer.  You will need to choose your operating system from the drop down and follow the instructions.
If your new PC is running Windows 7 or Windows 8, you can download HP's Printer Install Wizard. It will find the best driver for your printer and operating system and guide you through installing it.

  • Re: NB100-12A - How can I enable Bluetooth?

    I have just bought a NB100-12A.
On installation and every few hours since it starts a process "Installing Bluetooth driver " which opens a dialog box which says "please plug in the bluetooth device and click the OK button" if I click OK the message appears again in a minute. If I click cancel the installation program ends abnormally and then restarts a few hours later.
I can't tell if the NB100-12A has bluetooth built-in (although the packaging says it does) and if so how to enable it. Is it a software error, or could it be that the bluetooth device is faulty. Is there any way to test the bluetooth function?
In Control Panel the Bluetooth Local COM has no entries in it. Does this mean it simply has not installed?

Are you using the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack? Or the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack?
    I would try this:
Uninstall the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack from Add/Remove Programs.
Install the Toshiba Bluetooth Monitor (This will enable the Microsoft Stack). A Bluetooth icon should appear in the System Tray or Control Panel.

  • How to recover from formatted disk

    Hi
I have a problem searched google and feeling very hopeless. Actually i have installed Oracle 8.1.0 on D drive and my Operating System on C drive crashes. I have all files of installed Oracle but now don't know how to recover my DB.
I have installed OS and Oracle on C drive now but what to do next. PLZ consider me a developer rather DBA.
    Regards
    Bilal

Here are steps to recover in this type of failures:
    1). install O.S
    2). Install Oracle (software only)
3). Create Service (in windows case only) using oradim utility
    4). Recover/repair/start database
--- since you have reinstalled the software and the Oracle_home might have changed, (as said earlier) so in new Oracle home\database folder, copy your pfile/spfile and password file.
--- make sure all relevant folders are created for dump directories as it is mentioned in pfile/spfile.
    --- startup the database

  • Satellite L300-110 - How to recover without loosing data on the HDD?

    Hello all
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L300-110
The question is how can I recover my laptop with the recovery DVD without lose any data located in the hard disk drive?

    Hello
A recovery installation from the recovery disk without loosing data on the HDD isnt possible. If you use the Toshiba recovery disk the whole HDD will be formatted so you must backup the data first.
The only way I know is to use the HDD recovery function in the advanced boot menu. The HDD recovery function formats only the first partition of the notebook and all data that you have stored on the second partition are available after recovery.

  • Satellite A40-210 - How to recover XP but disk turns out to run Windows 98?

Ok, I've got a dinausour: Satellite A40-210 But hey, it ran just fine until an antivirus wiped out something crucial (or at least that's what I think), as Windows is no longer able to startup.
Now the error is given: system32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys is unavailable or broken.
I still got my recovery-disks (all 3 of them)
    1: tools&utilities CD-Rom
    2:product recovery CD-Rom 1
    3:product recovery CD-Rom 2
Nr 1 is not responding as reboot and the Product recovery CD-Rom 1 turns out to "recover" Windows 98.
Thing is, I would like to recover at least photos and some documents and whenever possible: get to use it again with all the programes etc that were installed on the hard-disk...
    What/how to do this?
As the message of '98 frightens me: this will delete all previous info on disk.
    Help, please!

If moving the hard drive to an external enclosure is not convenient, it should be possible to use a Linux live CD to find your files and transfer them to a USB drive.
I managed this with an old laptop whose Windows 2000 installation stopped working. In that instance, it was simply a matter of booting from a Linux live CD (I used Puppy Linux, as it has modest RAM demands). Once the Linux system was up and running in RAM, it allowed me to mount the Windows partition, and to read the files and photos I wanted to recover. It also allowed me copy those files to a USB flash drive.
Easier than I expected. And meant that, with my date safely copied elsewhere, I could relax and try to repair/reinstall the Windows system.

  • How to reinstall without a disk

    How DO I
    reinstall without a disk

You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available. If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number. Here's a list of links to all of those - http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/intlstoreroutingpage.html  Another resource:  International Support Phone #s.

  • How to recover a 500GB disk, all data lost !!!!!

    Hello,
I had a WD mirrored edition II disk connected to my airport extreme base station. Yesterday, my airport showed up a problem that had to be resolved. It showed that the disk was unable to mount. So, I connected the disk to my mac. It said that it should have to be formatted. So I cancelled. I then used the WD disk manager, which then automatically formatted the disk for use. So, All data was gone. I now spent nearly 2 days to find an appropriate data recovery software.
I tried a number of software, but none of them seems to rebuild and restore the filenames and folder structure. Seems to exist for windows, but for mac, nothing.
Did anyone out there have had a similiar problem. Can this be resolved, or do I have to rename file by file, in order to restore my system.
Here is the software I tried:
Filesalvage 7, StellarPhoenix (still running), DataRescue 3, R-Studio for Mac (still running), AppleXsoft File Recovery for Mac, boomerang (not tried yet).
Does there exist a software that rebuilds the whole structure ???
Thank you very much in advance !

I'm sorry to hear about your problems. Formatting a disk makes the data irretrievable. I know nothing of Windows, can it really retrieve information from a re-formatted disk? This just doesn't seem to compute for me...

  • How to recover without backup?

My ThinkPad T43 got virus, I formated it and installed Windows XP Professional. Then try to recover it to manufactury status, but can't install the Rescue and Recovery file.  It says " can not find the required file for installing Rescue and Recovery, can't continue. Make sure the correct .tvt file is in the same folder where the installing package is located."
Please help! by the way, I don't have a backup file.

    Hi imjscn,
I don't know what you are trying to establish here nonetheless RnR from Windows does not put thinkpad to factory settings. Only preboot RnR has this ability. If you did not delete the recovery partition wile formatting, you can subsequently recover it through following method:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-54483
    Hope it helps.

  • How to reclaim the missing disk space

i have a t61 with a 250gb HD.  when i migrated to window xp the local disk c  showed only 120gb and there is no other local disks appeared on the window desktop. can anyone help me how to recover the missing disk space. i am not a computer
expert so please showed it as detailed as you could. thank you for your attntion

You probably installed from original Windows XP disk [w/o SP2], and original XP support disks only upto 128gb. If you install SP2/3 later on, the support will be added , but the partition woun't magicaly grow by itself If you want to resize it w/o loosing data you have to use 3rd party tools like GParted Live CD [free] or Partition Magic [commercial] software... http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

  • How to recover my bootcamp

Hi I'm Macbook pro user, recent days i got updated my os program as os X lion, but after updating I lost my bootcamp disk and windows programs.
How to recover my bootcamp disk.... Help me please....

No. You have found your lost NTFS partition. Here is a table I use to validate that it is reasonable.
    GPT 3 Start
    GPT 3 Size
    GPT 3 End
    NTFS Start
    Byte Offset
    NTFS Size
    NTFS End
    205722144
    1269536
    206991680
    207065088
    73408
    105515001
    312580089
So your 'numbers' look as follows...
    Sudo gdisk /dev/rdisk0
P  (print the full list of parts)
    D  (delete)
    4  (part 4)
    N  (new part)
    4   (part 4)
    207065088
    - Start offset in bytes  (start point for Bootcamp part)
    +105515001
(Size offset as opposed to End offset)
    0700     (Windows part type)
P           (print list of all parts just to see what changes will be made)
    W         (Write the new GPT)
Y           (Yes! really write the new GPT)
This will delete and re-write the GPT partition info for /dev/disk0s4.
Rebuild MBR to match the new GPT information thus resetting the Hybrid MBR
    Sudo gdisk /dev/disk0
    P  (Print list of parts)
    R   (Recover)
    H (chooses Hybrid)
Partitions numbers to be hybridized: 2 3 4
    Y (Good for GRUB question)
    N (part 2 flag)
    N (part 3 flag)
Y  (part 4 flag make bootable partition)
    W  (Write the new MBR)
Y    (Yes! write the new MBR)
    Reboot
Test 1 - Does Bootcamp Volume show up in Finder?
Test 2 - Can you files in Bootcamp Volume?
Test 3 - Can you select Bootcamp in System Preferences -> Startup Disk?
Test 4 - If Test 3 is successful, select Bootcamp and Click Restart.
If you see a hanging underline cursor at the top left on a black screen, and it does not proceed further, you may need Windows Startup Repair or a tool called EasyBCD.
