NB100 - Can I install 4GB RAM?

I have read there are 4GB 200 pin memory modules availables. Does anybody know if toshiba netbook supports it?
I have an nb100 but don't mind to move into a nb305 if this supports instead the nb100

I will try to be more specific
a) NB 100 has only one slot available for memory upgrade. Does it support 4gb? Processor atom N270.
b) NB 300, I am not sure how much memory slots it has. Does it has 2? If it is one, again question about 4 gb. Processor N450.
I am not asking for games, it is only for mail and office app. I use vpn client and many windows. Time the system is very slow and maybe more memory improve performance.
I like this type (netbooks) of device. It is very greatfull if you move a lot of, as me. At my office I have a large lcd for more comfortably work.
Intel page http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=42503&code=Intel%c2%ae+Atom%e2%84% a2+Processor+N450+(512K+Cache%2c+1.66+GHz)
says depends on memory type...

  • Can I install 4GB RAM in an Satellite A200-1VP?

Bought an A200-1VP a couple of weeks ago and think it could benefit from a bit more RAM. I am aware that under vista 32bit I won??t be able to access all 4GB but whatever I could gain would be a bonus (3.5Gb?) can 4GB be installed in my notebook without any problems?
And just out of curiosity is the processor upgradable? Highly doubt id end up doing it but would be nice to know?
    Hope anyone can help
    Thanks
    kharm

    Hi
You can install 4Gb on that machine it may only recognise around 3.5gb due to system resource requirements,
    It takes 2 x 2gb 667MHZ SODIMMS

  • Can I install 4GB RAM in my Satellite A100-033?

I have a Satellite A100-033 (PSAANE-03J02GEN). The manual says that it will support only 2GB RAM maximum. Does anyone know if it will in fact support 4GB? I have installed 2x1GB instead of the supplied 2x512MB, and am tempted to install 2x1GB? Will this work, or is there some restriction in the motherboard or BIOS which means that the larger RAM won't be recognised? Can anyone help?

Thanks. I agree that the fact that my laptop's specification says "2GB maximum RAM" is a bad sign, but I have found in the past that specifications aren't always completely accurate, which is why I enquired.
My processor is a 1.6GHz Intel T2060. A check on my laptop (by the program "Belarc Advisor") says that my motherboard is an Intel Capell Valley (NAPA) CRB, and that my BIOS is a Phoenix 6.00 07/12/2007. Is there any way whereby I can find out if this combination will in fact recognise 4GB of RAM?
I know that 4GB only yields a little over 3GB usable RAM, but I would still like to increase the amount of RAM which I have, if this is possible, but obviously I don't want to spend money on 2BG chips which then don't work in my laptop.
    Any suggestions gratefully received!

    Hi John,
If your MBP is a 2011, yes, and here is one example: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/1333DDR3S4GB/
If your MBP is from 2006, the other year Apple made a 2GHz, the answer is no, as the max RAM is 2GB.
Given that it appears you already have 2x2GB installed, I'm "guessing" you have the 2011 model, so the answer is yes.

  • Satellite L300-145 - BSOD appears if I install 4GB RAM

    Hi all
i have this Satellite L300-145 PSLB0E-03601LPT and I want to install 4GB RAM but when I install 4GB on SO boot BSOD appears.
I try to change with other brand memorys with equal modules, I try to install Windows 7 64bit, Linux 9.10 64bit and it the same things. I try also to update BIOS but it the same.
I think it is Remap memory feature on bios but doesnt have that option.
So what i need to do?
    My laptop have now 3GB
    CPU: T2390 1,86Ghz 533Mhz
    CHIPSET: GM965
    RAM:2GB DDR2 533Mhz
    HDD:Hitachi 200GB
    After upgrade
    CPU: T8300 2.4Ghz 800Mhz
    RAM: 2GB DDR2 667Mhz
    HDD: Seagate 7200.4 250GB
    I realy need 4GB

Im sorry i confuse with other chipset.
But if i can get 800Mhz and 3GB 667Mhz Dualchannel its very good.
But i dont understand the BSOD.
    This is my test:
    1) I install 3 difrent 2GB modules and i get the same BSOD on boot OS, but i can enter on bios and i can see on memory info. 4096MB.
    2) I try to instal 3GB and laptop boot well but i find one problem if i put Bank0:1GB and Bank1:2GB laptop boot ok but if i swap i get the same error BSOD.
I think one slot cannot address 2048MB of size.
If i install only 2GB on that slot i get the same BSOD.
I have 3 tips of ram
2GB 533Mhz 667Mhz and 800Mhz with difrent brands and chips.
why i this BSOD only appears on boot OS and i can enter on bios without a problem?
    Sry for my poor english
    Best regards

  • Can I use 4GB RAM on my MSI K8N Diamond with Windows 7?

Can I use 4GB RAM on my MSI K8N Diamond with Windows 7? I have put 4GB DDR 1 in my motherboard but windows 7 says (2.75GB usable)...
    Regards, Jay

It depends highly on how much hardware (add-in cards) you have installed. If you have two VGA-cards, then it's likely that usable memory stays below 3GB. If you take some hardware out, you will see the usable memory increase a bit, but you won't reach the full 4GB. It will go as far as about 3.25 or so.

  • Can't install more RAM, what will help?

OK need a bit of help.
My elderly iMac has been a bit problematic lately, spinning beach balls, laggy, that chuggy noise which I always think is Spotlight indexing... (can't think of a more technical way to describe it!). I've just nosed around and saw a thread saying take a look in Activity Monitor at System Momory. This is what mine shows.
The thread I looked at kept saying 'are there a lot of pageouts, without actually defining what 'A lot' of page outs were! Nosed a bit more and think I may have too many page outs?
Now, thing is, I'm maxed out on RAM, in fact this machine should only take 4GB but I  managed to get it to accept 6MB, after doing some research and finding it was possible. So, I can't install any more RAM. Am also on Mountain Lion.
I have to trundle on with this Mac for a while longer. What can I do to improve my page outs and general speed of machine? Is it purely not having lots of applications open at once? I'm a designer so have CS6 installed, and use InDesign, Illust. and Photoshop. Is there anything I can do to get a bit more life out of this trusty warrior? Everything else on it works just fine.
I'm not 100% techie, but can usually sort out my  mac problems if someone explains clearly!
Spec of iMac: Alu 2.8GHz C2D 6GB SDRAM (should only take 4GB SDRAM but found out that it can take 6) 1TB HD

There is excessive swapping of data between physical memory and virtual memory. That can happen for two reasons:
You have a long-running process with a memory leak (i.e., a bug), or
You don't have enough memory installed for your usage pattern.
Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination.
When you notice the swap activity, open the Activity Monitor application and select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Click the heading of the Real Mem column in the process table twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you don't see that column, select
View ▹ Columns ▹ Real Memory
    from the menu bar.
If one process (excluding "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more real memory over time without ever releasing it. Here is an example of how it's done.
The process named "Safari Web Content" renders web pages for Safari and other applications. It uses a lot of memory and may leak if certain Safari extensions or third-party web plugins are installed. Consider it a prime suspect.
Another process often implicated in memory leaks is "inkjet8," which is a component of the HP printing softwre. If it's present, force-quit the process in Activity Monitor to solve the problem temporarily. If you don't use an HP printer, remove the software. Otherwise, if the problem is recurrent, update the software (which may not help) or contact HP support.
If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.
The next suggestion is only for users familiar with the shell. For a more precise, but potentially misleading, test, run the following command:
sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total
where process is the name of a process you suspect of leaking memory. Almost every process will leak some memory; the question is how much, and especially how much the leak increases with time. I can’t be more specific. See the leaks(1) man page and the Apple developer documentation for details.

  • 770T-C45 Maiboard - blue screen error when installing 4GB RAM

    Greetings,
I bought the MSI 770T-C45 mainboard to replace my older mainboard (ASUS M2N32 SLI Vista Premium). The problem is that the MSI board resulting blue screen when i install 4GB of RAM. First i thought maybe because of the BIOS. The same problem occur after i flashed the BIOS with the latest version using MSI Live Update. Here are my current PC information:
    AMD Athlon II X2 X245 - 2900MHz (overclock to 3487MHz)
    MSI 770T-C45
    1Gb OCZ Gold PC6400 (3 sticks)
PowerColor ATI HD4870 1Gb Stalker Edition
    Hitachi SATA2 250Gb
    Vista x86 SP2
    CoolerMaster extreme power 550Watts
I wanted to use Vista x64, but since my board can only support 3GB of RAM, so i use vista x86 instead.
Could anyone give me some suggestions? It is a waste to not fully use all the DIMM slots.

  • Problems with Installing 4GB RAM on mid 2007 iMac

I ordered 2 X 2GB sticks of PC2-5300 DDR2 SODIMM RAM for my Boss's mid 2007 iMac from Crucial.com. Well they arrived a few days later and today I have been trying to install them for a few hours now without any luck. I have installed new RAM about 5-6 times without any problems before on different MacBooks and iMacs. After this install I plugged back into the wall and hit the power button, the iMac made a little noise (internal noise) then nothing, just a blank screen. I thought maybe the RAM was bad so I inserted 2 other chips (we ordered 4 X 2GB to upgrade 2 iMacs) and still no luck. After making sure the iMac would boot with the old RAM (which it did), I tried installing 1 X 1GB with 1 X 2GB and it booted up perfectly. I did this with all four 2 GB RAM chips to make sure they all worked and they did. Each time I successfully booted, I went to the system profiler to make sure it recognized 3GB of RAM and it did. So my question is why is this mid 2007 Aluminum iMac not working with 4GB of RAM, but it works perfectly with 3GB? Thanks in advance, sorry for the long question.

+It seems to me that it is not just a problem with the RAM but with the imacs themselves.+
How does this make any sense when one considers that Apple successfully specified, produced, sold and delivered all three iMac (mid 2007) models with an optional 4GB of RAM pre-installed?
In addition, Apple has, without issue, sold large quantities of that same RAM online and over-the-counter for customer upgrades. Much of all that 2GB, and the latest 4GB RAM, as usual, has been manufactured by Micron, the publicly owned U.S. manufacturing company parent of the Crucial direct sales division. The same type of RAM was also being provided to Apple by other manufacturers.
I received my two orders of upgrade RAM from Micron/Crucial even before I had purchased my 24-inch iMac, and it's worked great ever since I installed it. I also installed the second half of that order into my current MacBook, purchased a month after the iMac, and it's also been working great ever since. These are certainly superior Apple products.
Obviously there has been a change in RAM manufacturing design at Micron, probably due to their change-over to the costly, challenging high-tech 50nm and 40nm manufacturing technologies, and it is nothing more than Micron's problem.

  • Installed 4GB ram, but comp only reading 3GB?

I just upgraded my 2.4ghz MBP from 2 to 4GB ram (Kingston DDR2-667 2x2GB cards). The computer reads all 4GB (in the system profiler), but when I open a program like AFTER EFFECTS, it's only using 3GB.
Any ideas why or how to fix the problem? Of course I got the extra ram specifically for programs like AFTER EFFECTS and FINAL CUT, so it'd be nice to know that i'm getting my money's worth!
    thanks!

The computer reads all 4GB (in the system profiler)
So you DO have 4 GB RAM installed OK.
when I open a program like AFTER EFFECTS, it's only using 3GB.
Not all your RAM is available for an application to use; your video chip, for example, uses your system RAM.

  • Can't get 4GB RAM Upgrade to work in 2.8GHz iMac

I bought two 2GB RAM Modules @ Frys to replace the 1GB in my 2.8GHz iMac 24". It was a Mac Refurb bought from their store. When I put in both 2GB, it won't boot up. It will boot up with one 1 and one 2, for a total of 3GB. Both are running @ 667 MHz, however the 2GB is a Crucial and they say I should run part # CT817145. http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=39D3BF46A5CA7304
What I got from Frys is part # CT25664AC800. http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=F4042F1EA5CA7304
Crucials site shows the specs to be the same at first glance.
I swapped slots all around and still no dice, it won't start with both 2GB's.
So why is it booting from 3GB and not 4GB?
Can anyone be of help besides taking both back and getting the part number Crucial says, even though the specs appear to be similar.
    Thank you so much!

    Hello cwinkler
Use this first article to identify exactly which iMac model you have:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1463?viewlocale=en_US
The following article's are the iMac Spec's for the mid 2007 and Early 2008.
    http://support.apple.com/specs/imac/iMacMid2007.html
    http://support.apple.com/specs/imac/iMacEarly2008.html
To me it's sounds like you have a Mid 2007 2.8GHz that uses PC2-5300 667GHz, only the Early 2008 models use PC2-6400 800MHz ram.
