NB200-10Z - Battery loose power

I have a Toshiba NB20010Z netbook for about 8 months and I always had the problem of the battery being loose. It's very frustrating, when I carry the machine in standby mode, I open it up, and it's turned off. I figured out, that if I pull a bit on the battery, the netbook turns off.
Have you met this problem before? What can I do with it? The pins for the Battery are naturaly locked down.
Thanks,
Bence

HI Bence,
> when I carry the machine in standby mode
Thats absolutely normally that the notebook consumes battery power in standby mode. In standby mode there will be stored an image of current settings and opened programs in your RAM and so the RAM consumes power.
So dont be worry about this.
By the way: Do you also loose battery power if you shut down the notebook for 24 hours?

  • Battery looses power by 12 pm.

My battery has been dying very quickly and my phone has been getting very hot. I went to the store to get it checked out and they said i had a bad battery and it was replaced but it keeps doing it. What the heck is going on with my phone???

What exactly do you do with the phone in a "typical" day?  As crb said, allowing GPS &/or WiFi turned on all the time is a quick drainer. I charge once a day ... probably could go 1.5 days if I wanted.  That gives me about an hour or 2 of surfing, 5-8 calls, an hour of music ...  so I'm certainly not a "power user" ...  A "hot" phone, IMHO, is likely due to heavy CPU use - music, internet radio, video, etc.  I did a "test" this last weekend on a 2 hour trip. I turned on GPS, had Google NAV running the whole time, but had it in my car charger ...  The battery never got hotter than 92.7 degrees ...  I was actually quite surprised.

  • Satellite A200-1M8 - battery loose power quickly

    Hi
Please I need help... I have got Toshiba Satellite A200-1m8.
Operating system: Windows XP Pro SP3.
I noticed that the Wireless connection, running the laptop on battery power, drops and sometimes doesn't connect but plugging the power back to Normal power it easily does
I searched for similar issues and found that Intel for wireless devices does this to save battery power. I followed the instructions I found, and Wi-Fi worked well by increasing the power management in the Wi-Fi device settings ,but the main problem here is when I increase power management ,running the laptop on batteries, the computer seemingly to lose battery power quickly.
Should I change the deficient part by the manufacturer or what to do .......??
    Thanks.

Hi again bro Horwath and sorry for being late.
Actually i'm still not sure/precise about testing the battery power while knowing what is running on the background. It is somehow confusing to keep on watching precisely.
Anyway here is what i came up with:
But before that the toshiba power saver settings that i use on battery is 3/4 towards the high preformance ( less long battery life ).
(every thing is the same as the default battery power profile except those: no hibernation..no system standby.. no Hdd power off and monitor off in 30 minutes)
    first test:
the overall battery useage seemed to last between 1:20 or 1:30 hours.
running internet explorer with 3 to 4 websites in the same window....winmap....and [2 msn messenger (background) ]
it seemed that i lost 2% within 2 to 3 minutes ( but i still feel it is rapid ).... then leaving the computer idle seemed to have lost like 1% within 3 to 4 minutes.
    second test:
The overall battery useage also seemed to last between 1:20 or 1:30 mintues.
i was running adobe photoshop for some minutes .....[ with msn messnger ( background ) ]
consumed like 60% of the battery power whithin like 40 minutes...
and the rest was left to the computer being idle just running 2 msn messnger on the background and consuming 40% within 30 to 35 minutes.
I also noticed that battery consumes 2% quickly on computer usage or apparently on _wireless internet usage_
Those are what i noticed, but still not sure 100%.
Anyway besides that my battery should last for 2 hours as i saw in some websites for this toshiba model .
In addition, why shouldn't the wireless device run normally like on any other computer on the default/normal level of power management so that i can have the normal battery power life.
Sorry for the complications in here :S.
    thanks.

  • Macbook Pro 3.1 looses power completely when battery at 6..9%

I recently got a new battery for my 2007 Macbook Pro 3.1. Whenever I'm running on battery, the Macbook gives me a warning at 10% remaining battery life and loosed power all of a sudden when reaching 6..9%. All work is lost, when I reconnect the charger cable the Macbook restarts completely and doesn't just wake up from sleep.
    Questions:
    - How can I calibrate the battery correctly if a complete shut down happens before reaching 0% (as I understand the calibration procedure I need to discharge the battery from 100% to 0% in one go)
    - Can a faulty PRAM battery cause this problem?
    - Can I check the status of the PRAM battery?
    Thanks for any help
    John

Shown below is the discharge curve of my A1275 battery (it contains 3 individual cells) vs. time. After 2h6min the hard shutdown occurs each time - at a 'remaining' capacity of ~300mAh.
The battery itself doesn't get calibrated to a lower value, it remains at some 5044-5090mAh when doing a calibration.
The true capacity seems to be only ~4600-4700mAh, but since the calibration procedure doesn't work successfully with this battery, the problem will persist.
Maybe there is a way to lower the battery capacity on purpose to a lower value. There might be a possibility with IO_reg.... (?)

  • NB200-10Z - Freezes after turning on

Hi, I've used my NB200-10z for 6 months without any problems.
But today I couldn't turn it on right away. I have to turn on and off power button several times to get it working. The battery is charged and there is power supply.
After I press turn on button, the cooler swiches on, the HDD indicator is green and the picture "Toshiba Leading Innovation" appears. Then the HDD indicator turns down and the picture freezes. And then nothing happends. The notebook doesn't respond on the "F2" or "F12" keys. I turn it off and try to turn it again. After several times the OS starts and the notebook works perfectly.
This sutiation repeated again - I have to turn on and off power button several times to get it working.
Please, help me, what should I do that the notebook starts properly?

    Hi
I am having the same kind problem, even worse!
I bought my NB200 Aug 2009, it has been working very well for me till about 2 weeks ago.
One day, I turned it off normally, second day morning, I tried to trun on, I only see power light, plugin light, battery charging light up., the HDD light flashed once for maybe 2-3 seconds, then fade away. And the screan remains blank all the way.
I tried remove battery, unplug, wait up to 3 hours, put everything back, it still not starting up.
Also I tried with different RAM, but result remains the same.
And the situation getting worse and worse. About 2 weeks ago, when it first started, after about 10 tries, I could get it start. This morning I had to try over an hour, and finally got lucky once.
So, anyone is having the same problem? Any suggestions?

  • NB200-10Z powers up but the screen is blank

    Hi
    i have a Toshiba netbook NB200-10Z.
It powers up but the screen is blank.
Can anyone help me coz i don't know the cause to it

    Hi
    Try this:
Remove the battery and disconnect the AC adaptor.
Then wait a little bit (1 hour should be enough)
Then connect both parts again and try to power up your NB200.
If its not a serious issue, then your NB200 should power up properly.
Otherwise its a serious issue and you will need an professional help from an ASP technician.

  • My NB200-10Z will not boot

    I have a Toshiba nb200-10Z PLL20E-00200JEN
and it keep refusing to boot all what happens is when you press the power button no display flashes and the hd lite flickers once then nothing the power button lite stays on and the little power lite,
then leave it and 1 in twenty time it will boots normally and works normally till I switch it off
I have just had it twelve months on two weeks but this is something which has been happening for a couple of months but on now got very bad I thought it was a virus and spent weeks trying to solve it,  but no it definitely the computer

Hi, i'm a new member who happens to have same problem before, but i was helped by this post from another tech-
forum.  hope this will help you too, if you still have the problem.
this is from a friend with screen name, trowboyd:
I have found a fix for this. I do computer repair for a living and have now repaired two nb200's with this fault. Here's how:
    1) Get the computer to post and boot. There's a few ways to do this if it will NEVER post. You can leave the computer off for around 2 months. I had one which never posted no matter what I tried. After leaving it sit around for about 2 months, I tried again and it posted and booted, but once it warmed up again it wouldn't post again. You can also try putting it in your car overnight to cool it down, or lastly you can try the freezer trick. Once you have it booted to windows, DON'T restart or power down as it may not post again.
    2) Download the latest BIOS update for your NB200 which is v2.1. Make sure it's for the correct part number which can be found on the back of your nb200.
    3) Connect your power lead and make sure the nb200 has at least 50% charge.
    4) Install the v2.1 BIOS update.
Both nb200's I have repaired like this would only post intermittently before this v2.1 BIOS update. As I mentioned, 1 of them wouldn't post at all for two months. Both nb200's were initially running the v1.2 BIOS. Immediately after this v2.1 update, both nb200's post and boot every time, even when i have left them running near a heater in a hot room. Basically fixed.
You can find out what BIOS version you have on the main page of the BIOS setup screen.
So, get it to boot, and flash to the latest bios update.  hope this helps.

  • How can I install new windows on NB200-10z without a CD drive?

    Hi,
I have a mini laptop "Toshiba nb200-10z" and it doesnt startup anymore.
I would like to do a recovery, but it also doesnt work.
I know there is a shortcut like press the 0 button when the laptop is starting up.
With this shortcut you can start the recovery to reset the software.
But when I press the 0 button it gives me an error.
So I think the recovery drive/partition is lost.
How can I install new windows on this minilaptop without a CD drive?

I have found a much easier way to install Windows 7 from a USB Flash drive. Unlike other methods where you have to write complicated commands, this method can be completed even by those who have very little computer background.
The whole process takes only two steps, run UNetbootin, load the Windows 7 ISO file, and finally restart your computer.
Before you begin, you will require the following:
    USB Flash Drive (4GB minimum)
    Windows 7 ISO Image file
    UNetbootin
Note: If UNetbootin doesnt work, try out the Microsofts official tool called Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool.
Now insert the USB drive, run UNetbootin, and select Disk Image as ISO. Browse your local drive for Windows 7 ISO that you downloaded and click Open. Now Select Type as USB and choose the drive. Once done, it will look like a bit similar to the screenshot shown below.
Click OK and it will begin extracting all installation files to the USB drive. The whole process will take some time (10-15 minutes), so have patience.
Once the installation is complete, reboot your computer. Now while your system is starting up press the appropriate button (usually F1, F2, F12, ESC, Backspace, or Escape) to bring up Bios Boot Menu.
Change the startup order to boot USB by default, usually you will have to press F6 to move the selected USB device on top. Once done, save changes and restart the system.

  • NB200-10Z trouble connecting external monitor

    Hi,
I tried to connect my NB200-10Z to my LCD TV using a VGA-DVI plug. Now I connected my DVI cable to the plug and then the TV.
For some reason the TV is not recognized by the netbook. I tried the FN+F5 button and it only shows the lcd - related to the netbook display.
I thought perhaps I need a display driver update, but it seems I have the latest version (6.14.10.4926)
Rebooted the system as well, no effect.
I used to have my other laptop connected to this TV before, so the problem must be with this netbook.
    Any idea's??
    Appreciate your thoughts...
    Cheers,
    Richard

    Hi Simon,
"Good" to hear I am not alone in this.
In fact I recently bought an NB305 and also am not able to connect this to my TV. (like you I too was used to connecting another laptop to my screen - hence the DVI cable).
The windows+p button did not do anything for me. The TV recognizes that something is connected as it goes into a sort of "waiting" mode - and says "disconnected" once I disconnect the cable again, so I believe it is a software issue.
On the NB305 there is a very nice software manager that ensures you have the latest version of all your software. Not sure what could be the problem.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
(PS: the TV doesn't have a VGA input)
In the meantime I will try connecting to another TV.
    Thanks in advance,
    Richard

Try booting in Safe Mode by holding your Shift key down when booting. Also, try holding the eject key down when booting to eject the DVD. If you plug a mouse in and hold the clicker down when booting, that should eject the DVD.

  • Toshiba NB200-10z - recovery disc creator.lnk isn't available

Hello, I have a problem with my netbook Toshiba NB200-10z, when I run Toshiba recovery disc creator I get the window with:
The unit or network connection to which the link refers "recovery disc creator.lnk isn't available.
Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available and try again
    How can I fix it?

Since this is an English language forum you should post the message in English language.
I assume you are not able to start the Recovery disk creator software
    Why?? Who knows.
Try to recover the notebook using HDD recovery option:
Press F8, choose Repair my Computer, and HDD recovery.
If this would not be available or possiblewell you will need to try to order a recovery disk from Toshiba or would try to install the system using another disk

  • NB200-10Z: Can't make recovery disk using TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator

    Hi Folks,
I finally got round to buying a USB DVD drive in order to create recovery discs for my NB200-10Z. I got the following:
    * Samsung SE-S084C, External USB 2.0 Slimline 8X DVD Writer, Black
I have twice tried to create a recovery disc and am now left with two trashed DVDs. The error codes in the error window are:
    Error Code: 0E01B5-26-2A040803
    Error code: 02016F-3C-00000000
The first time the burning was stopped, the second time the verify failed.
Can anyone shed light on this?

    *Short version:*
Thank you to everybody who replied.
I decided to try out the USB DVD drive on another laptop to perform a HDD backup operation...and it failed as well. Grrrr. Same DVD media (I just hadn't got round to getting new media to try).
I think I shall discount the possiblility of the NB200 being at fault, and therefore shall consider this question answered on this forum.
    *Long version:*
Well, I ended up using Virtual CD to "burn" an ISO file to HDD, and then copied that to another laptop to burn to DVD (not using the USB DVD drive, but the same DVD media type). Being the curious type I decided to perform a restore using the USB DVD drive. It got part way through installation then informs me that a CRC check had failed...argggg.
So, to cut a long story even shorter, I ended up slipstreaming the Intel storage drivers into a Win XP ISO (created from a Win XP CD I had from another previous laptop) and creating a bootable USB drive. Now I have a clean install with all the NB200 driver installed. Phew.
Actually, to think a bit more about it, I could have attempted to put the Toshiba recovery ISO onto the bootable USB drive, but I've done the clean install now anyway.
For whatever reason, I had such trouble getting the NB200 BIOS to recognise the USB DVD drive in order to change the boot order (it wasn't in the option list). This was with the DVD in the tray, and without the DVD in the tray. Some investigation required on my part, I think, to determine exactly what is going on.

  • The last time I recharged the battery from power outlet it took 18 hours. IPad is only one month old.  Is this normal?

How long should it take to recharge iPad 2 battery from power outlet?

Presuming you're using the iPad power brick and not an ipod's or other 5W one, 8 hours give or take (i do it overnight so I honestly can't give an exact answwer. ANd it also depends on how low it was when you started.
Do you get a 'not charging' up by the battery meter?
